Sears is a great spot for
Sears is a great spot for an excellent meal (not gourmet) for reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very old San Francisco, which I love. It's also a place that is great for any age. Good for both locals and tourists.

Worth the visit!
I ate at Sears for breakfast and dinner while staying in San Francisco, as it was very close to my hotel on Powell Street, and because it was recommended to me by several travelers on my way out. It's nice to find a restaurant where the food is important and the atmosphere is friendly, not uppity. A lot of the dinner food is comfort food, like pot roast, pork chops, and pasta, but they manage to make a pretty tasty cioppino, as well. For breakfast, Sears is known for many tasty favorites, including the cute little Swedish pancakes with lingonberries I had, plus maple- flavored sausages that were also memorable. Prices are a bit high, but, hey, so is everything else in this town.

A San Francisco Classic
I haven't been to Sears in a long time and it was fun to go again and experience the great service and attention by the wait staff. We came because my friend was hungry for The Wedge and she enjoyed it very much, though it was a little "over" dressed. Would probably order the dressing on the side next time I had the Reuben sandwich with potato salad, which was quite good and big enough to take home half of the sandwich and half of the salad which I enjoyed all over again the next day.

Comfortable Comfort Food
I enjoyed my visit to SFF -- service was extremely prompt and courteous and the food was reasonably priced. Portions trended to the smaller size for my taste, but they were adequate.

LANDMARK IN SFO
The ambience is old-fashioned in ambience and decor and I hope they keep it that way. The place is fairly large and set up more cafe style than fine dining, but the food is very good with many choices, and my party of 5 all expressed satisfaction with their dishes. it is centrally located which is a definite plus. We had to hurry a bit because we had a theater date. It was fairly crowded without being packed. I think we would all be happy to return for a more leisurely meal.

Comfort food, close to hotels
Sears Fine Food is one of those nice restaurants you rarely find close to hotels that are family oriented. Although it was just my husband and I, the restaurant had several tables of families. We ordered the Pot Roast and it did not disappoint. Ambiance is friendly, diner-style. This is a great casual place to go if you just want to sit and have a pleasant dinner and not compete with the bar scene to be heard.

Old School atmosphere. Very good food and service. I will return. I have walked past it a million times but finally went to it because my wife made reservations. It felt like I was in an old big nice pub with good food in London. I will start going there now before the theatre.

Had been recommended to us and we were certainly not disappointed. Great, wholesome food and if you're a fan of mash and gravy then this place is for you. Mouthwatering menu and the pot roast is a must. Enjoy!

A standard stop while in SF
Had breakfast at counter, which was fine. Food was very good. Had dinner in main dining area. It was rather loud and crowded in the dining room, but the food is always very good.

From the outside this restaurant looks like nothing but the food was really good. The service was OK, courteous and fast but nothing more. Their chicken pot pie was excellent and original in the way it's presented (The filing is in the bowl and the flaky crust is put on top as a decoration.

Excellent food for all of us.
There were four of us total for dinner and we all had great meals. We heard about this restaurant from a friend who lives in town. We were visiting from out of state. We were glad we did. They even serve their famous pancakes at dinner too. We also tried them. Delicious. Great service. Nice ambience. A neighborhood gem.

Great Happy Hour!!
The Pam, the concierge at the Donatello, recommended Sears' cocktail hour for appetizers and drink prices. Decided to make dinner reservations at Sears because of its ideal location to the hotel. Entered the restaurant around 4:30 to find that the bar offerings were either beer or wine. Had a beer and my guest had a glass of house red; both were good.
Ordered the deviled eggs served on a bed lettuce with pickled onions. The eggs and the onions were tasty and went
well with our beer and wine. Ordered a crab louie and the Blue Plate Special - chicken pot pie. Both servings were generous and filling. The waitress suggested I hold off on ordering a dinner salad since the pot pie would be filling, and she was right!! No room for dessert!!

Good and reliable food
Convenient to the Union Square area, where I often travel on business. I've never been disappointed at the food. Good stuff. My go to place for taking business contacts.

a wonderful surprise
I've been to Sears hundreds of times for their fabulous breakfasts, but this was my first dinner there. The menu is classic American - pot roast, roast chicken, pork chops - all very well prepared. Portions are generous; I had enough pot roast left over to make two small sandwiches. Prices are extremely fair, especially if you download the 20% off coupon from their website. Service is friendly and helpful. No table clothes, but real napkins and small candles on each table. Overall, a pleasant evening away from the kitchen that also doesn't break the bank. We will go back.

Enjoyed our visit. Good beef stroganoff. Fair prices for San Francisco with attentive staff. Just a bit noisy due to tile flooring and lots of patrons!

Nice atmosphere with a little San Francisco history. The staff was very nice. The food was good and reasonably priced. An overall good value and fun place to eat.

Sear's Fine Food
I love this place. It was owned by my friend's Swedish family, who started it in San Luis Obispo. We came on Black Friday for dinner, and booked through open Table, getting seats for the three of us on time, and in the energetic and fun-filled dining room area. We shared a bottle of white wine and munched on everything from mussles in garlic-butter sauce, to crabs legs, and sole. We finished the meal off with a yummy blueberry crisp. Our waiter was prompt and friendly.
