A bit pricey (dinner menu)
A bit pricey (dinner menu) but if you split the shrimp scampi, which is exceptional, it is more than enough for two at a cost of $28 ($14 each). We started with the clam chowder which was excellent - highly recommended.

Amazing fish and chips!
I had heard that the food wasn't so great a few years ago. I went with a couple who hadn't really enjoyed their rustic 'fish and chips' and had stopped going. Well they were truly shocked this week when we went and ordered the same dish some years later. Taking a look around all the food looked excellent and well displayed. This has probably become my personal favorite for fish and chips now.

Everything was fantastic the food ,service, and ambiance. I highly recommend this restaurant. My only complaint is I wasn't informed about the dining vouchers to enter the ship, so pick them up at the ticket booth and you get reimbursed on the bill.

EXCEPTIONAL FOOD AND SERVICE
Sometimes you don't know what to expect from a tourist-type destination restaurant. Chelsea Chowder House's is superb!! The Pomme Frites had just the right amount of truffle oil, parmesan and parsley. The catfish was tender and the hush puppies sweet and light. Nothing was over-fried and the portions were very generous! The wine list was also excellent featuring a good selection of wines from California and around the world. Our waiter, Luis, and Simon, the Maitre-D, provided exemplary and attentive service. I have already recommended this restaurant to several of my friends!

Prompt and attentive service.
Prompt and attentive service. I drink water with my meal and there was a bottle of cold water on the table and the server kept my glass full.

We took our friends who have never been to the queen Mary hotel so this was their first time there. Chelsea's food was good and view but they stuck us back in a corner so was hard to see it. I was hoping for a table by the window. Too casual for us though. We were dressed up but the only people there that way. Lots of kids and very casual attire. Food and service were great though!

GREAT food GREAT service GREAT view
Had a GREAT time at Chelsea's and would definitely recommend it. Fabulous food, beyond attentive service, and a breathtaking view of the harbor. Our server (Derek) provided a gracious welcome, superb care, and made our special night quite memorable. Not only was he knowledgeable of everything on the menu and wine list, he also anticipated our needs somehow, magically knowing exactly what I wanted for an after dinner drink when I clearly couldn't think of it myself. I appreciated his intuitiveness immensely. I can't thank you enough for the incredible experience we had. Derek is a gem!
4/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Not much in the way of ambiance, but pleasant. The food was very good for the price, and cooked exactly to our request. The view was lovely and did make us feel like we were actually on a cruise.

This is located inside the Queen Mary on the 4th floor. Service was great and so as the food. I had the Surf & Turf while my wife had the Crab-cake sliders. Tuna tartar was "ok" not sure if the fished used was "fresh-fresh" its was a bit gooey. But other than that I would give the a 95% overall.
Make sure to get your parking stub validated ($10 off) = $5 due upon exiting the lot

The perfect start to our honeymoon. Amazing food, quiet and romantic.

Delicious food, casual ambviance
Our family (7 of us) had a dinner at 8pm after postponing our reservation twice with ease. It was a welcome casual option that still provided a special location on the world famous Queen Mary. The decor and ambiance was casual and nearly impossible to not have a view. My Fried Seafood Platter entrée was excellent and I sampled a few of the dishes including a delicious shrimp pasta dish, the calamari and rock shrimp appetizer along with a spinach dip and a taste of their generous (3) crab cakes that are prepared with bread that is about halfway between a slider and a hamburger bun. Service was good, not great, somewhat absentee but not miserably so. Several couples were having a romantic evening without having to get all dressed up.

First time back after about a fifteen year break and I was thrilled to find the food just as fresh and flavorful as it always was in the past. I was not quite as thrilled with the remodeling job that was apparently done a couple of years ago--while the air conditioning was a much appreciated addition, the loss of the beautiful wood veneers in exchange for white tile had the unfortunate effect of making the restaurant look like an upscale shower room. The wait staff was friendly and efficient and informative about the harbor area view outside the windows. I was glad I had read a Yelp review before I came in that noted the lack of bread and butter that is automatic in most restaurants, but our waiter quickly brought us a very nice basketful.

Eating at Chelseas Chowder House and Bar was an enjoyable treat for the family - a historic location and very good food combined with excellent service by Robert. the wine list was a bit of a miss with an excellent New Zealand white wine listed as Napa Valley and an on-going purge of the wine list limiting choices. It was also a bit of a turn-off to be greeted at the elevator to get on the Queen Mary and beiong asked for a $15 dinner voucher despite having made reservations for dinner - not a great first impression. it was nice to be able to walk the meal off a little with a stroll around a historic landmark.

Dining Experience with Great View
Brought my wife and daughter on Mother's Day and I was glad I did. My wife was happy that I made my reservation at Chelsea and not to the buffet place. The place was quiet and we were able to enjoy the nice view overlooking the window. We ordered Tuna Poke for appetizer and it was so delicioso! The seafood we ordered were all good. My daughter loved the yukon mashed potato. She said, it was the best she ever tasted. This is definitely a place to enjoy the food, the view and good company.

Nice Dinner at a Great Location
We went for a dinner with a group of 8, including out of town guests. The location was great (aboard Queen Mary, with a wonderful view of Long Beach downtown across the water). The food and service were both very good, but nothing exceptional. Considering it was Friday evening, the noise level was quite moderate. Definitely would go there again, especially to entertain out of town guests at a memorable location.

I had always wanted to have dinner on the Queen Mary. It was a very unique experience. I am from Massachusetts and was in California for my nieces wedding. I had dinner with my two brothers and a few friends. We were treated very well and our dinners were delicious. The only problem was the apple crisp desert which I believe they made with the wrong kind of apples. They were hard. The waiter took the desert off the bill. The wine list was limited. I love Savignon blanc , but I noticed that was true of almost every restaurant in California. Chardonay just doesn't cut it.
5/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is the fourth time that I've dined here with family within the past fifteen months, and it's been very enjoyable each time. The food has been consistently good, as has the service. The view and atmosphere are a real treat. It is fun to imagine passengers on the same deck throughout many decades, enjoying their voyages. We always look forward to coming here.

Everyone that waited on us from the person that seated us , the waiters, and the bussers were all very friendly and courteous. The food was great and the portions were plentiful. We will return the next time we are in the LA area.
Thanks for agreat evening,

Lovely spot on the Queen Mary with friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed a fantastic view. The tables are not crowded together. We will certainly return when back in the area.

Great foods with great view
I want to have a good seafood din er about two weeks ago and I found this reataurant.
Sitting and dining in Queen Mary is an experience. The view was great and the foods were and still excellent. I ordered what I want (Little Clam Steamers) and shared this appetizer with my family. The taste is what I have expected. Everyone love this dish. I want to order more. For entree, we ordered N.E. Clam Bake, Cioppino, and Bake Salmon. Everyone said his/her dish is very tasty and delicious.

Wednesday night at Chelsea's
Reservation for 7:15 pm. Table for two was ready and we were seated immediately. The area was pleasantly lit and offered a great view of the harbor. Reuben introduced himself as our server and the meal experience began. The crab cake appetizer was delicious but very small portion. The rib eye was prepared to our liking and was quite flavorful. The creme brulee dessert was excellent! Reuben was attentive, answerered our questions with ease, and was very pleasant overall. This was a good dining experience. We'll be back.

A visit to the Queen Mary in Long Beach harbor led to a dinner for our wedding anniversary at Chelsea Chowder House. We checked the menu prior to visiting the restaurant. The hostesses had us wait in the lobby for a table for 10 min. They checked their watches to make sure the time was 5:00pm. It was a little uncomfortable that they couldn't let us sit down a bit before five. Another couple just walked in and sat down. The hostess left us at a great table with a view of outside and in the air conditioner since it was a particularly hot day even on the coast. The fish and chips and clam chowder was cooked tender and well seasoned. The house salad had pears and argula with walnuts. It was delicious.

For Nostalgic Reasons
We went to Chelsea's to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We wanted to return to the same place we had enjoyed for our wedding night dinner.
The food was fine, but it is a much more casual place now, but the prices were NOT casual. I think if you are going to bring down the formality of the restaurant, you need to bring down the prices of the food, as well.
Server was fine, but not extraordinary.
Thanks for the memories.

Queen Mary ambience
This is a medium priced restaurant on the Queen Mary. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food we selected was excellent, as was the service. It is our second time to dine there and both times we were very pleased.
7/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful view of Long Beach harbor. We had a window table, but even you don't get a window table, you can still see everything. The windows are huge. Great food, awesome tastes and flavor, but could have given a little more for the money, but all in all, I would go back (if I lived in the area). The service was outstanding. Great staff. Very helpful. Overall a great experience.

Great Seafood on the Queen Mary
After a short wait (understandable on a Saturday night) we were seated at a table with a nice view of Long Beach across the harbor. Despite a full house, service was prompt and professional. The menu features a variety of seafood, along with other a few other entrees such as steak, short ribs, and roast chicken.
My wife ordered the daily special which that night featured Mahi Mahi, I ordered the Cioppino. We were served some excellent freshly baked bread to nibble on while we waited for our entrees, which arrived in a reasonable amount of time.
They were perfectly prepared, nicely presented, generously portioned, and delicious.
Afterwards, a stroll around the decks of the Queen Mary provided a perfect conclusion to an excellent meal.

Classic, old and tired
The service was awesome, the food was bland and like the interior of the restaurant, tired. One note. The cocktail sauce was wonderful.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
The meal we had was a very pleasant surprise. Hotel food is not always the best and we had no expectations of a great meal but were there mainly for the ambiance offered by the hotel (The Queen Mary). Much to our delight the entire experience, food included was very good.

Good food, good service
We came here for our 10th wedding anniversary and really enjoyed it. Dress was casual but view was beautiful and the food and drinks were great. There are some unique cocktails on the menu that I would love to come back and try more of sometime. The West Coast Cioppino was quite flavorful and portions were generous.

Mostly Good, Queen Mary Great!
Food was good. My husband had the Ribeye Steak and said that it was very good. Selection of veggies was not so great. Waiter never brought bread to our table. Steak was $30. which seemed a bit high for his meal. I actually had the chicken sandwich which was excellent for only $13. Can't beat the atmosphere of the Queen Mary!

We past a very good evening at the Chelsea's Chowder House. It was perfect for us during our vacation in California.
We choosed to celebrate our wedding bithday on the magnific Queen Mary boat. Thank you for this great moment.

The waitress and chef were very helpful in assisting with a food allergy. They were willing to accommodate my allergies and suggested alternatives if needed. The food was wonderful and the service was great. Definitely would recommend.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
With the casual atmosphere, a view of the bay, and the friendly attentive service that actually makes you feel like royalty you could not pick a better location to celebrate a special occasion. Makes for a very intimate dining experience but would also be good for small groups. The food was very good with a nice variety and pretty reasonably priced. All in all I would consider Chelsea's Chowder House to be an excellent choice.

Best Birthday Dinner Ever!!!
We spent my Birthday on The Queen Mary, and had reservations for Chelsea's Chowder House. Derek was our waiter, and he was super!!! He was always right there when we needed him, and extremely pleasant. I ordered the surf and turf and it was the best I've ever had, and I order that a lot! The filet was like butter, so tender, and the lobster was so delicious and tasty and fresh. My husband ordered seafood and loved it as well. I wish I lived in this area so I can eat here more often.

Queen Mary Goodness
Unique ambience with a spectacular harbor view. Delisciously fresh seafood and wonderful service made this a five star evening.

First time there...it was o.k.
We made reservations, we had a nice table with a view, service was excellent & food was excellent. My husband & I were dressed nicely and we were a little surprised of others. There was a large group, dressed nicely & having a great dinner. The 20 something couple next to us were dressed in jeans, tshirt & a crop top was worn by the young lady. He was on his cell phone 75% of the time, would call the waiter over & then keep talking on his phone (rude). Another table had their 2 kids running all over the place & the women were in jeans, sneakers & just looked sloppy. We were expecting a little more upscale than Chili's restaurant crowd. I would go there for lunch, but not dinner again. And our 5 children would behave properly & stay seated.

Fabulous Food and atmosphere
This is my sixth time eating at Chelsea Chowder House and every time the food is remarkable. The Shrimp Scampi is a favorite that is bursting with flavor. It's different than the usual scampi's that you find in most places, but is one is exceptional. Linguini with a fabulous light caper cream sauce, packed with capers and some tomato, it's a wonderful meal. Also, highly recommended is the Braised Beef dish. Perfectly cooked to the just right tenderness with a rich meaty flavor. I highly recommend both these dishes. As well as the carrot cake and if you like a different drink that is light a refreshing, I would try to Moscow Mule.

I couldn't stop eating
Without a doubt the food was a supreme hit for both me and my sweetheart. I couldn't stop eating it was so doggone good. I had the ribeye which was tender, juicy and very well spiced.

We've been there many times last year, and loved the food and the bartender. We were excited to go back this past Friday, but what adissapointment! New chef and bbartender, and services was also horrible! Attitudes all over, our server was ok, but an extremely mean and not so "healthy" waitress had a very large attitude problem! WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!

We had the Thanksgiving dinner, and it was delicious. I sneaked a peek at the regular menu, and plan to return and try it out!
At night, you will love the view of the lights. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, and as a bonus we got to tour the Queen Mary.

Thanksgiving for 2 :)
First Thanksgiving without the kids... so we splurged and it was worth it! We both got the Thanksgiving turkey dinner, very tasty and filled us up. Salad/soup, Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn bread, cranberry sauce. Desert was a pumpkin moouse cheesecake. I also had a glass of the Queen Mary champange-- delicious! It had a fruity, floral flavor and I would love to get a few bottles to take home-- didn't think of it then and now I am 2 hours away. The room was rather quiet, even with a family nearby and another couple at the next table. View was rather romantic-- water reflecting the city lights. Will come back with my grown daughters for a girls day soon!
