The chef's tasting menu of seven small courses at $40 per person was worth every bit of the cost for an incredibly delicious experience.

Sensational - as always
Contigo consistently delivers great service, delicious food and a really lively cool atmosphere. It was my 3rd meal there in 2 months and will continue to be a regular!

Fine Flavors of Spain Here In SF
Bustling. Noisy. Close tables. Not easy to get to. But still a great addition to dining in SF. An intelligently selected, but rather dear, price-wise, wine list accommodates and enhances the food. Whether you go the tapas route or a more conventional appetizer & main course, the food is excellent. I recommend the salmon - one of most flavorful and original preparations I've ever had. The papates braves, a cliche oftentimes in most Spanish eateries, was superb - a wonderful garlicy aioli along with a spicy tomato sauce were the accompaniments. Good desserts too. Go there.

Food always fresh
Always good food with wonderful textures and flavors.

A foodie friend of mine recommended this place to me - and Contigo didn't disappoint! The tapas here are excellent. We tried just about every one of them and they were all delicious! The cojondongo salad and fig leaf salmon raciones were good also, but the tapas were the best part of the meal. Service was also great. Definitely will return if ever back in S.F.

A great taste of Spain
We selected Contigo because friends are going to Spain. We tried another Spanish restaurant but it lacked a little pizzaz. Contigo was spot on for tasting the cuisine of Spain. They and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely go back!

Totally a Pleasure
My adult daughter and myself had a delicious time in this very cozy and charming restaurant, yet light and uncrowded. The waiter was helpful, friendly and kind. The roasted peach dessert a real standout as was the wine he picked out for me. The little Gem Salad I think it was called, with beets, was very good as well. Really everything we ordered hit the spot. We needed to rush out to catch a movie and we were taken care of. Certainly I'll return.

Contigo is a class act
Everything at Contigo was a pleasure--the wait staff, the room decor, the pride the chefs take in preparing the best tapas I have eaten in San Francisco. I will go back again and again.

We couldn't get reservation in February. We're visiting from
Portland , staying in Palo Alto and came ALL
the way to Noe Valley just for Contigo. It was worth

My man and I came for his birthday dinner one early evening mid-summer.
Pricey tapas prepared with such care. SAVOR IT. The local sardine toast: a layer of avocado, the sardine, and a perfectly pink ribbon of pickled onion. Worthy of a Maira Kalman painting! You only need one hot bacon wrapped date, filled with blue cheese and one marcona almond. Melty, salty, crispy, sweet, sharp, crunchy yumminess. The salmon with cava butter and corn! Will come back to try other things and have dessert.
Contigo can handle a family with a sometimes wandering young one nearby, foreign tourists, a large group or two out back, plus more at the bar. Do make reservations. Beautifully designed space. Food and wine to linger over. Great friendly service. Go.

Definitely one of the best restaurant, this particular time the food was expectacular

Great tapas, wonderful place!
THE place for tapas in Noe Valley. The location itself is great, nice atmosphere and people, very good dishes!

A gem for localvores
Spend some time with the menu. On the back it shows the sources for the fresh, seasonal, local ingredients. I love this place!

Excellent restaurant overall
Ordered the paella Tuesday night special. The 5 course meal was delicious, filling and a great deal. The service is excellent with a beautiful interior and moderately noisy atmosphere. What a great neighborhood gem!
8/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
This restaurant is a neighborhood gem. The food is delicious. The prices are reasonable. Everything that we ordered we loved. The waiter was very helpful explaining the Spanish wines and had recommendations for us. We sat outside in the back patio and it was lovely. All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and 17-year old daughter
My wife and 17-year old daughter have been to Contigo a number of times recently. We have always had an excellent experience there, with delicious and novel food combinations served by attentive and capable servers in a very pleasant environment. I have already spoken highly of the restaurant to friends and family. We look forward to many more such occasions.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Outstanding in every way
Fantastic tapas. Great flavors, interesting combinations. Vibrant atmosphere and our server, Uzie, was warm, friendly, and professional. Definitely recommended.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great dining experience!
We ate here for my wife's birthday late on a Sunday night. I had wanted to "recreate" the trip to Spain we took last year so, after a dynamite flamenco show, we headed to Contigo. Our server was absolutely exceptional, providing outstanding customer service. When one of the dishes proved to smokey for our tastes, she offered to replace it with something else immediately. The smokiness of that dish aside (and fans of heavy smoked flavor would have loved it), the food was top notch and absolutely delicious. Pretty accurate in terms of tapas portions and very Spanish. We'll definitely go back.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful all around. High quality ingredients, well prepared, not trying too hard - just great.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
this find has been open for awhile and my colleague and I thought while we were in San Francisco from New York on business/pleasure trip while writing a new exciting cuisine/pleasure book....ventured into this neighbohood for some fun!!
Our evening was filled with fun, thrills and very delectable morsals of heavenly bites.
Our wine (mutually agreed)...crisp,clean and delightful from Spain.
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
I started going when it first opened and go back from time to time. It's always Great and my last visit was as good as my 1st visit.

Glad I finally made it here
I am been meaning to try this place for awhile, but just never made it. Finally had dinner here and I am glad that I did. The food is very good, the service was attentive and the out door dining space is a nice treat on a nice evening.

Unique food, reminds us of Spain
Really authentic Spanish. Tapas. Great Sangia Very friendly staff. Tasting menu of 7 tapas a little too much. But worth getting FULL.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great tapas place!
I loved this place!! As a fanatic of spanish food, this place was fantastic to me!!! Besides they have a great wine list. What else can you ask for? Great place to share food with your loved ones, and enjoy food. My only recommendation: 4 to 5 dishes is more than enough. We ordered 6 and couldn't make it!!
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, great experience
My wife and I had a really nice dinner at Contigo last Saturday. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was excellent overall. The highlights were the albondigas and the tapas (we had the sardine and anchovy). I would definitely go back if I were looking for a restaurant in that area. Likewise, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone.

Hostess was welcoming and
Hostess was welcoming and waiter was attentive. Food was good. Disappointed that the restaurant did not have any whip cream when we asked for some to be put on top of our hot chocolate drink dessert after we were done dipping our churros into the chocolate drink. Found the chocolate drink to be much more bitter than what we are used to from our travels in Barcelona and other parts of Spain. We found the tables to be too close to each other but then again real estate is expensive in San Francisco.
We like the decor and atmosphere of Contigo.
9/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a great place. Fun and friendly waiter! And we loved all the food. Gazpacho salad (tomatoes, grapes, onion, cucumbers, greens and fab croutons) was crisp and not over dressed! The chard was so flavorful. The orn and mushrooms had nice texture and flavor, wish there were more mushrooms though. Potatoes were cooked very well and the sauses were tasty with some heat! Meatballs were browned to pefection and the sauce was earthy and tasty! Hot coco was amazing. Thick and creamy and churros to dip is a must. Not too sweet, very light and crunchy! Bravo!!!

With Love form Barcelona
Whether you're looking for a full-on multi-course extravaganza or just a flat-bread and some perfect greens, Contigo never dissapoints. The service is just the right mix of casual simpatico and solid professionalism. It's a little like going to a Catalonian friend's family home for dinner, you leave feeling not just nourished, but a little bit loved. Stop reading now and see if they have a table for you.
9/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great atmosphere and delicious food. The service was excellent and they were very accommodating when we added an extra person to our party at the last minute. We will definitely be back.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great experience and Rojo Vermouth
Loved loved Contigo and can't wait to return. The featured wine was Spanish vermouths and I loved the Rojo. Will be thinking about this drink for awhile. Contigo reminded me of Barcelona and I will return (to both places) soon.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Second time we have been to Contigo and liked it so well the first time that we brought "new" people to introduce them. There were six of us. The food was amazing. Our wait person did not, however, meet the standards of the previous visit. She was aloof and condescending. When I looked around, the other members of the staff were smiling and appearing to enjoy themselves. In fairness to her, she did have two large tables so, in thinking back, I would not recommend this restaurant for groups (we had six this time - four last) and go with four but honestly, I would think again before going. Ambiance and service are also important. The first time, the service was superb.

A Restaurant Worth It's Reputation
Brought my daughter a chef who was visiting from MI and we took her here as a child and continued to go after she moved. She wanted to go back and found the food outstanding. Her discussion with the waiter, owner, former chef seemed to naturally materialize once she started to ask "beyond foodie" questions. Every knew the answers to her "grilling" and we had one of our many excellent meals at this hidden gem. Don't tell others about it, just go!

Contigo is Outstanding
Superb, friendly, fun Catalan/Spanish tapas restaurant. Food has outstanding taste and a creative menu. Servers are friendly and helpful. Excellent wines. One of the best restaurants in San Francisco. Nice combination of fish, meat and vegetarian.
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Every meal at Contigo has been a pleasure. It's my new "go to" place for special occasions. It was a warm night and especially nice to sit on the patio (WITHOUT the propane heaters on) without the music and din of the restaurant in the background. It made conversation so much more enjoyable!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
We ordered tasting menus plus 1 extra dish for our 5-yr-old.
+ Excellent food.
+ Easy to make reservation. Still under the radar.
- Uneven pace. Some dishes we barely finish and the next is brought to us. Between some courses, we waited a LONG time. It's hard with a 5-yr-old with the waiting.
Definitely will go back. Food is too good to pass.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've walked by Contigo many times and finally decided to try it out with some friends. We had the tapas tasting menu and really loved it. My friend was concerned he wasn't going to get full after 7 tapas - we were! Standouts were the Xato Salad with Green Beans, the Halibut and the Albondigas. We asked our server (who we also found out later is one of the co-owners) to wine pair for us, since we didn't know much about Spanish wine and everything she chose was really enjoyable. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Great Neighborhood Tapas Gem
This was my 2nd visit to Contigo and the experience was just as good as the first. Every dish was well presented and delicious, and the service was first rate. I'm certain that I will return here many times.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
I will return
Contigo was one of the best restaurant experiences I've had, from the moment we walked in the door to the very last taste and sip, everything was PERFECT. Each plate offered fresh, vibrant pairings in flavor and texture. Staff were all delightful, incredible wine list, lovely lighting and ambiance, just a great experience. Contigo is the main reason I will return to San Francisco as soon as possible.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tasting menu was excellent.
Tasting menu was excellent. Wine list is great. Back room heater can be too warm.

The favorite tapas here are
The favorite tapas here are the dates wrapped in bacon, stuffed with blue cheese and the treasure of a hidden almond. I tried their shrimp and it was the best shrimp I've had in memory. Cozy kinda crowded place in which I am always happy to see another Noe Valley friend. The waiters are always pleasant and seem happy to serve you such wonderful food. Contigo offers a Spanish wine tasting, I got two different glasses of white from Galicia. As I don't know much about Spanish wines I was happy to go with their suggestions. As the food always is, the wines were excellent.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Unique food but very expensive
The food here is great and quite unique. I am always surprised at the number of unique yet delicious tastes I find here. If you're not into more adventurous food, this restaurant may not be for you (they do have a handful of plates that appeal to bland American palettes, but it is the exception not the rule). As is unfortunately so common in SF these days, however, the food and drinks are a little over-priced. In fact, I feel this is particularly problematic with tapas as you pay about 2/3 the price of an entry but get half (or less) the amount of food. So that is eternally frustrating.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Contigo Constant and Excellent
Contigo has outstanding Catalan/Spanish tapas dishes and wines. Warm and lovely restaurant with friendly and effective staff. Food is creative and tasty. A top restaurant in San Francisco.
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
Even though we were there for a birthday celebration, there were no bday specials. Better to treat bday girl with a special dessert free instead of charging her. Unique food healthy $$$expensive and guys are not full.
11/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
Delicious meal, But Stay Indoors
The food was fantastic - we started with anchovies, moved on to a dungeness crab salad that was heaven, a flavorful mushroom flatbread and finished with squid with brussel sprouts (an unusual and tasty combo). The half order of patatas bravas is mandatory. The sommelier was very helpful.
We were seated on the covered patio in the back where the tables are pushed very close together and you can hear everyone's conversations. There was a big group of 15 or so work colleagues having a holiday dinner pushed right up against people trying to have a romantic meal. Not ideal. I don't know if the ambience would have been better inside, but I would definitely request that if I went again.
12/2/2013 4:00:00 PM
Good as always
The food is always good and the service always pleasant. We love this place--but fix that back door! it was freezing inside every time someone went in/out which was all the time since there is out door seating. Really nice wines and knowledgeable staff.

A Noe Valley Favorite
This was my third time at Contigo. I've gone there for a girls dinner out, for a double date and on a romantic dinner for my birthday. I was more than pleased on each occasion with the Spanish style tapas, though I would not call it straight up Spanish food, as there seems to be a big California influence. Delicious, great service and lovely ambience. They have ample heating in the back garden for the cold SF nights so you can sit amongst the herbs, but the inside area is lovely as well with great atmosphere. Noise level wise, I have never had a problem conversing with my dining partners. Also very easy neighborhood to get access on public transport.
12/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was so good, the service pleasant and informative and easy going, great ambiance. One of the tapas was called a word that meant "amazing" and it was -- if I knew Spanish I would give it the name that means "not to be missed." This is on our list now, we will go back and will recommend it!
