Good Pre-Theatre Choice
This second Bocca di Bacco, a sister restaurant to the one slightly further uptown, is a good choice for pre-theatre dinner. They have an excellent wine list with many selections by the glass.

Bocca Di Bacco was a great find. The food was delicious, the service was great, the menu was varied, and the price reasonable. I have already told so many people and Bocca Di Bacco will be a must whenever we go to NYC theatre district.

What a find
Bocca Di Bacco was quite a find in NYC in the theatre district. It was very busy so I recommend reservations. The waiter understood we had theatre tickets and was prompt with ordering and delivering our dinner. We share 4 different Entrees and all were excellent. There were several larger groups and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Prices reasonable.

Terrific in Theatre District
Found this lovely restaurant through reviews on Open Table. Our show was nearby and we wanted to be close to theatre...what a treat! Our reservations were pre theatre, but due to traffic we had to call and tell them we would come after the show, which we did. There were a lot of other diners even at 9:30 and the hostess was very warm and welcoming. The ambiance was lovely...rich and woodsy....good karma. We had the risotto and shrimp special which was delicious. Nice to know there is another wonderful dining place in this part of town....we will be back

We had a wonderful pre theater
We had a wonderful pre theater dinner, service was excellent. Noise level was high making conversation a little difficult. Also like almost all theater district restaurants you feel like you are shoe horned in.

Great find in the Theater District
We have always struggled to find the right place in the theater district where the combination of great food, ambience and good service were all there. This is the place. The service and food were extraordinary. Perhaps the best roast chicken ever! We'll definitely be back next time we are in New York.
5/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
There were lots of fist choices and the salad was excellent. The bruschetta for the bread was great too.

Had not visited this restaurant in the theater district. We really enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. We will be back!

Great service and good food
This was a great place to eat. We had theater tickets and only 45min to eat and get to the theater. They were so wiling to rush our food but not sacrifice taste, quality or presentation. everything was great and looked amazing. The service was fantastic and everyone was very nice. I'd go back.

Great find in the Th. District
Excellent lamb chops and whipped potatoes, very yummy warm choc cake with ice cream and rasp. sauce. Good glass of wine. Service was exceptionally friendly. Bread just ok and while the tomato sauce that is served with it is a nice/different touch, it needed to be punched up in flavor.

Just plain Great Food
My wife and I were in New York to visit our son and my wife had a conference to attend. We were looking for a reasonably priced (for New York) to have dinner and that featured Italian fare. What a great restaurant!
The food was out of this world, the service attentive without being obtrusive and the atmosphere rather cozy. We will definitely go there again on our next trip.
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went there Monday night when many theaters are dark. There were only a few tables occupied. My wife and i enjoyed the meal very much.

6 at 6
Lovely dinner after a matinee; 6 of us at 6pm we were early but enjoyed a drink & oysters thenwas seated when we were ready. Excellent salads. Grilled branzino also excellent. Wait staff friendly & efficient. We would go back & recommend.

A Good Find!
I read about the 27 year old executive chef at this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It is very close to the theater district and very reasonably priced. Everyone enjoyed their food- lamb chops, lamb shank, short ribs, and branzino. Sergio was a great server and everything was delicious. We will be back!
6/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went there for pre-theater dinner, was 15 minutes late, and they were very helpful and accommodating, our order came out in time for us to enjoy it and make it to the play, and they even quickly brought out a dessert with a candle on it to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Very nice and considerate.

A wonderful surprise! I'll be
I had theater tickets and needed an Italian restaurant close to the theater, as my mom recently had foot surgery. I selected this resturant sight unseen - based on it's proximity to the theater, and favorable reviews online. We (party of four) were absolutely delighted at the decor, friendly staff, and wonderful drinks and delicious food. I will absolutely be back and have already reccomended Bocca Di Bacco to coworkers.

Bocca Di Bacco was fabulous!!
Three of my friends were starving and we also needed to have a meeting. I made a reservation at Bocca Di Bacco earlier that day and we were treated like queens when we arrived!! We were taken to a table immediately, were given the cocktail menu, were also given wine recommendations.
I ordered the pasta special of the day with clams, salmon & white wine sauce. It was excellent with enough to have for lunch the following day. My friend ordered the Penne Gorgonzola and was very happy. My other friend had the squid ink pasta and was also very happy.
The chairs at the bar look great, but are not very comfortable. Sit in the back or on the black high chairs in the front.

This was my first experience using Open Table and going to this restaurant, and I'm so happy it worked out perfectly! The hostess, the server and the manager were so friendly and pleasing...and the food was incredible! I highly recommend it and will be returning!

We started with Mussels steamed in White Wine which were wonderful! For main course we had Grouper with clams and mussels which was also very good. We were in New York for 5 days and this was the best food we found. Attentive staff and nice setting.
7/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food but not the best.
Great food but not the best. The sea food was really fresh, but there was some sand in the mussels.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Service is amazing. The DJ was amazing. The food was great...their muffins are little drops of heaven really. All rounder in my opinion

A Theater District Gem
Go before a show and enjoy a fabulous meal. My friends and I had the cheese platter, pear salad, pasta dishes and lamb chops. Couldn't have been better.
A standout from the tired and expensive theater district establishments.
Highly recommended. Yummy.

Great bite before a Broadway play
We had tickets for a play at 8pm and so decided to grab something early and local. The whole wheat pasta dish was good but nothing to write home about; the lasagna was so utterly delicious that I sent a postcard about it to friends in Rome. I recommend the cheese plate--a wonderful selection that complements any entree on the menu, lasagna included. A very good restaurant, leaning toward excellent.

NYC Italian Restaurant
I always enjoy going to an Italian restaurant in New York and this was no exception. I had a pasta dish and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My wife had seafood which she also found delicious. All in all I am glad I picked this particular restaurant.
8/7/2013 5:00:00 PM
Great for pre-theater
Nice place, good food & excellent service. They were able to do several courses per-theater without rushed service or poorly done food. Wine list was not extensive but decent/affordable choices
8/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
First time here and a pleasant surprise. Picked it because it was close to the theater we were going to. We had the monkfish and the braised short ribs- both outstanding. Would definitely return.

Excellent Italian restaurant Optimo
Bocca di Bacco specializes in Venetian cuisine. Our dinners were very tasty and quite different. We enjoyed a table by the sidewalk; it was fun to watch everyone walking by as we ate our dinners. The service was excellent We give it our highest recommendation. We would love to come back or perhaps visit it when it comes to Durham, NC!
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
My favorite dish, it's amazing. I love this restaurant and i find any reason to go there for lunch or dinner. The staff is warm and friendly and the food is great.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
It was a great place after a show.
We were visiting from Chicago and wanted to try something in the 9th street area after our play. We checked the reviews of Bocca and they were solid. The staff - the hostess, the waiter and his helpers were all excellent and attentive, but not over the top. We decided to eat family style and order lots of different foods and they were very accomodating and willing to offer recommendations. The food, while not the tip top, was good. The crowd was mixed - families, groups, romantic couples and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I would definitely recommend this place and would go again.

We were visiting NYC and a friend recommended this restaurant. We may have eaten at the wrong one...I guess there are 3 in NYC. We were expecting Old World Italian but what we got was very modern. We were told the wait staff were all Italian. Our waiter was from Russian. Did not look like an Italian restaurant. With that being said, the food was very good. The waiter was attentive to our needs. He explained many dishes on the menu. There are specials in addition to the menu items. Overall, I would recommended this restaurant but if you are looking for old world charm, I think one of the other locations may be the place to go.

nice ambiance/great appetizers
went there w/a friend after work. quite dark inside, men in suits, preppy/yuppy women of all ages, couples, friends. nice bar, very nice atmosphere, non-pretentious, great waiters. great bread/fresh chopped tomatoes in olive oil w/dinner. fantastic appetizers, the mushroom/spinach/bean/“goat cheese sliced circle middle of the bowl” soup and prosciutto w/arugula/parmesan fresh flavored salad. soup-fantastic/not too thick, diced fresh mushrooms and the goat cheese added lots of flavor. shared one of the specials that evening, only reason I rate this place a “4,” the seafood risotto, calamari/clams/mussels-cooked quite well, the flavor of the dish very good, but the risotto was a tough interior and mushy/gooey/pasty consistency on the outside.

Had an early dinner prior
Had an early dinner prior to A Broadway show. Ambiance was very nice. Sat at a table right next to the sidewalk which gave an al fresc feel. Food was well prepared and ample. Nice wine list. Will go there again.

Best in the neighborhood!
A lot of restaurants on 9th Ave. but this one surpasses all of them! Amin the Mgr is the Best ensures everyone has a Great experience. He stays on top of everything and has a great demeanor that enhances the experience! Kudos to Chef for designing a varied delicious menu at reasonable prices! The homemade pastas, Branzino, short ribs are awesome. Brunch is very reasonable with great selections - a lot of fun with music and endless mimosas. Lunch is also one of the best deals in the city - great food at a prix fixe. We have been here many times and go regularly as it is close by but the service does suffer when Amin is not there - Mgmt should take note and train the other managers so overall service is consistent like when Amin is there.

Tight Squeeze, Relaxed Feel
This was our first time. Tables, particularly along the wall, are really close together, so it's a bit of a dance to navigate in and out of your seat. The food was very good. We had the grilled octopus and beet salad to start, both of which were delicious and beautifully presented. I had the gnocchi with meatballs, which were light and airy. My husband had the Fettuccine A La Bolognese, which he said was the best ever. We shared the panna cotta for dessert. Service was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Excellent pre-theater opton
Amid the many 9th Avenue and Restaurant Row restaurants, Bocca di Bacco is outstanding--very pleasant environment, attentive staff, and, most of all really delicious well priced cuisine.

Weekend in NYC
Great food and service. Neighborhood restaurant equal to mid-town hot spots.
Good for pre-theatre dinner or weekend retreat. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

Wine bar with ful italian menu
This was a great find for having a quiet dinner and catching up with a friend. It felt like being at a wine bar, but with the option of a full menu. The short-ribs were amazing!!

Good Edition to the Theater Distric
There are never enough good eateries in the theater district, With the addition of Bocca Di Bacco, that issue moves one step closer to resolution. Very good food at reasonable prices with great service. As an added bonus at the bar- $1 oysters all night long. So go and enjoy!
11/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great for a night out at the theate
Well-prepared Italian food, very pleasant and helpful servers. Front of the restaurant is noisier than the back so request appropriately. Location can't be beat! Great find for theater-goers who want a nice meal and good food around the corner for the theater(s). I will definitely return here.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
A perfect place to go if you are in the theater area. We have a 11 and 7 year old and they did fine with the menu. The pasta and specials were excellent.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food but freezing
The food and drinks were great and the place had a nice atmosphere. But it was very cold in the restaurant. When we told two different people, neither addressed it or even came back to tell us what was going on. Just seemed indifferent and ignored our comment. We finally had to follow up; they said they couldn't control the air conditioning and there was a problem with it. I understand things happen, but to just ignore a customer's legitimate complaint - it was like Siberia in there - with no follow up explanation wasn't acceptable. I was very disappointed by how it was handled. They only apologized at the very end of the night on our way out, and didn't try to do anything to make us more comfortable.

We booked Thanksgiving dinner through Open Table based on availability, menu and location. We were not sure exactly what to expect as dining at an untried restaurant in NYC can be a risky undertaking. Never have we been more pleasantly surprised! The four-course meal held wonderful surprises with each dish. The opening butternut squash soup was simple ingredient-wise, which only served to heighten the smooth flavors. The pumpkin-filled cannelloni was exquisite, featuring tender pasta, creamy pumpkin filling, and wonderful hints of smoked cheese. The main course turkey two-ways was perfectly seasoned. The fresh pumpkin pie dessert was deliciously warm, accompanied by ice cream & candied nuts. Highest recommendation!
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
We tried bocca di bacco because bit was recommended by a nephew. Went after an afternoon show and it was perfect. Great food. Not overcrowded and excellent service. Wine list was incredible! Went to a different location the following week and had the same impression. Don't miss this restaurant!
11/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
The brunch was wonderful and our server was outstanding as we were sort of trickling in and she could tell we were also catching up with each other! I had the bottomless brunch and the mimosas had a nice little kick and they kept em coming! The lox and eggs benedict was delicious and enjoyed the salad and potatoes with it! The dessert was delicious and the cappuccinos a work of art. Maitre d at the front was adorable.
