This ended up being the perfect brunch spot for an early Mother's Day. The staff was great with our 15-month-old tagalong, the food was good, and the setting--a large old house set on a lovely property--was quite nice. Biggest drawback: it's right on the highway and the view from the front porch is of the parking lot. But it looks like they might be working on that (construction was evident)--I just hope they add some giant bamboo stands to cover the noise and look. Great service and a perfect setting--plus it was just the right distance for three people meeting from Whidbey, Seattle and Renton.

my favorite place to eat
I love your restaurant - the service and food is always fantastic! All the food is fresh and tasty and the drinks are strong :)

Mother's Day @ Preservation Kitchen
Completely delicious food and great atmosphere. It was a wonderful place to go for Mother's Day Brunch. The front dining area was super noisy though so I am glad that we were seated in on of the back rooms. Really neat to see the private dining rooms on the second floor as well! I may want to book those for a special event and try their dinner menu.

I went for brunch with my boyfriend and we were seated right away (we had reservations). He ordered Eggs Benedict (the best we've ever had) and I ordered the pancakes. The blueberry jam on the pancakes was a bit too tart, but I do have to give credit to Preservation Kitchen for amazing Bloody Mary's!!
I honestly would go back every Sunday for brunch and order Eggs Benedict and Bloody Mary's.

Frankly, this was just a fantastic meal. I took my girlfriend for her birthday, and we enjoyed everything we had. The smoked duck rillettes was a great starter, my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her red snapper and wine that paired brilliantly, and I absolutely loved the filet with wild mushroom risotto. Prices are what you would expect to pay for food of this caliber, and I couldn't have been happier with the service and quality.

A hidden treasure!
I love Preservation Kitchen. Unique menu selections, outstanding flavors, great drinks, lovely location. Went there last week for my 15th anniversary last week; my husband and I truly enjoyed one of the best meals we've had.
We've had an amazing brunch (on Mother's Day, scheduled last minute and was a HUGE success with some really picky eaters - thank you for making ME look good.) I'm also a frequent lunch patron. All are great options, but dinner is.. wow.
The buildling was once the Mayor's residence (early 1900's, I believe?) - it's a beautiful brick building with wood all through the interior. It maintains that 'house' feel in a way that's very comfortable. The wood makes it noisy at times but it's very charming - worth it!

Love the Brunch
We come here often for brunch, which is only on weekends. Reservations are needed or you might end up on the ale house side of the restaurant. The smoked duck omelet is fantastic. Good variety of eye opener cocktails.

worth the wait
Living in the area we planned on eating here on several occasions but plans would fall through. So, I made reservations for our anniversary and held to them. We were sat next to a cozy corner window, the server was attentive and friendly, and the wine was excellent. My wife had the salmon and I had the duck, both were amazing. Although there was a large family seated near us, the volume in the dining room never became intrusive. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. The bar is also fairly large and looks like a good time we'll be checking out. Definitely worth the wait.

Great date place!
My husband, 8-year old daughter and I went on a "family date" here. The atmosphere was very interesting and comfortable. The food was amazing. My husband ordered a Filet Mignon that was so tender and flavorful you could almost cut it with your fork. I got the grilled salmon with asparagus, lemon cous cous and a strawberry/basil garnish. I didn't care for the garnish. the flavor didnt' seem to match the rest of the dish, but the fish was cooked very well and the cous cous was fantastic. They have a small, affordable children's menu, making the place kid-friendly if you can't find a sitter when you want to go out and have a special meal. The three of us had a wonderfully relaxing and romantic dinner. We will definitely be back!

The food was very good if
The food was very good if not excellent, seasonally fresh and well-prepared. We ordered three courses and the kitchen/staff timing was seamless. Our needs were met without being interrupted, perfect place for date night.

Potential For 5-Stars
We loved the service, loved the feel of the place but the tiny amount of accoutrements served with the duck rillette and cheese platter prevented us from giving the food 5-stars.
We had the boar ragu, the filet mignon, the red snapper, and the spare ribs. We all loved our dishes and there was plenty to share. So, it seems in direct opposition to the portions on the appetizer menu.
Finally, they need to turn the lights up just a smidge. I love ambience but we couldn't read the menu.
We will be back and I hope they fine tune things just a bit so they can get their 5-star review from us!

Everything Great but the Noise
The appearance, menu options, food preparation and service all were great, but the noise level was terrible. We were in a medium size partially divided dining area with a party of six seated in a corner with a windows. They were loud and there was nothing soft in the room to absorb the noise. Even normal conversation would vibrate, but this was extreme.

The food is always amazing
The food is always amazing at the Preservation Kitchen. My favorite hands down is the Bread Pudding for dessert. Don't miss trying it! Highly recommend for an evening of peaceful dining.

Father's Day Brunch at Preservation
We had a lovely meal for Father's Day. We chose to go late (12:30) to avoid the worst of the rush. A nice mix of menu items. Wait staff was clearly tired from the rush but we'd still go back.

Great place to meet and eat
Having eaten at Preservation Kitchen before, I am always comfortable meeting friends there, as the food is always good, the service great and the ambience wonderful. Lunch is a treat, as the price is always right, dinner is special, and always served beautifully.
6/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
We have been just once, and will go again. The food and wine were delicious. Also, they said they could make anything on the menu dairy free for me. Score!
6/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food is top-notch with a few surprises and flavor twists. Talent in the kitchen. Love the old house and the beautiful woodwork. Interesting mostly NW wine list with a smattering of CA. Nice features on a few specific WA wineries, and cool corkage policy--if you bought the bottle that day at one of the nearby Woodinville tasting rooms, the corkage fee is waived. This was our first visit after the move of the Main St. Alehouse into Preservation Kitchen. The two are pretty distinct and separate although in the same building. It appears some additional outdoor dining space and landscaping work are nearing completion. Worth a revisit later in the summer.
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went on a Monday and the crowd was small. The service was top notch and full of smiles and attention. Both beet salads were great (we had to try both of them).

Dinner for 2 outside on the
Dinner for 2 outside on the new patio
First time at the restaurant and really enjoyed the unique menu (including many seafood options celebrating Seafair that weren't on the website) that included many local items
Excellent meal! Great find in Bothell!
We will be back!
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Patio dinning was so enjoyable with the new water fall to listen to as you are dinning outside on the patio
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
As usual :)
Brunch, breakfast ... Really any meal here is great.
They have their front out door seating all ready. Such a great use of space
7/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, laid back atmosphere
Party of six, really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Old house turned restaurant, so there are several rooms that diners are divided up amongst, so there isn't a large raucous dining room. Very intimate, yet room to have a bigger group. Nice patio out front with several tables, and some more rooms upstairs that look perfect for more private groups or parties.
Started off with a flight of their infused vodka, highly recommend!

another great dinner with friends
we love introducing people to the Kitchen! took another couple and they loved it like we do! it's in a great location for us, especially as we are on the eastside and a lot of our friends are in seattle/ballard area. they come this way, we go that way and meet at the Kitchen!
My favorite dish is the wild boar ragu - it's really fabulous. and they had several new small plates on the menu that we all tried. the cocktail and wine list is still great - and they've added a wonderful patio out in the rock garden that is lovely!
7/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our server was great and the food was amazing! Would definitely visit again.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
We took a client to dinner and it was wonderful. My only complaint was that the restaurant was hot and stuffy. With the humid air outside, it was too warm inside to be comfortable.
8/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fine dining without the price tag
The food was excellent. Well balanced and cooked perfectly. Only two downfalls. 1) The music was way too loud for this place to be romantic and 2) our entrees were served before I was done with my appetizer (very annoying - I expect that at less quality restaurants but not at a fine dining one).
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Sit on the patio if you can
In the last days of summer, the patio is a nice place to relax and enjoy a leasant dinner.
9/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had dinner with an old friend and Preservation Kitchen was recommended to us from another friend. It was a gem of a place! The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was perfect especially for two old friends to talk and get caught up! We decided that this would be our meeting place from now on! Highly recommend this restaurant and bar!!

Delightful New Spot for Me
Eating at Preservation Kitchen was delightful. The reimagined beautiful and quaint home was a unique space to eat. It was quiet enough to have a great conversation. The service was good and the food was all made in house and delicious. My beef tacos were so tender and flavorful.
9/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Pleasant dining experience
All dishes ordered were very good, especially the mussel appetizer. Wine sauce superb. Will definitely go again.

Great Lil Place - in BOTHELL!
I saw mixed reviews on this place and took a gamble recommending it for an important dinner date. I'm glad I did - the place is really charming and our food was excellent! We started with the cheese plate and the feta cakes - very tasty. Our table had filets, snapper and short ribs - everyone had a clean plate. Desserts were really delish too. And there was a good wine selection.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
But overpriced. Could use more seasoning (my preference). Even when full didn't seem crowded. Nice quiet evening for the wife & I. Will return and try the food again.

Seattle Restuarant Week
Great food selctions, including choice of drinks as apps and dessert, loved it! Will recommend to friends!
10/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
in the middle of the burbs
This is a nice non-chain spot in really close vicinity of the suburbs. Not cost prohibitive to go when there's no real occasion, food is semi-unique and homemade. Service is good. The bar appears to be a good spot for sports games. I recommend visiting if you are close by.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Date Night
My Husband and I had a great dinner at Preservation Kitchen. We both loved our food. The favorite of the night was the Jack and Coke Float we had for dessert!
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
3 for $15 - never miss it!
Nice place to meet a friend for lunch. Plenty of parking. Great ambience. The caesar salad tasted good, but it ... languished a bit this time. Not quite crispy or something. The spicy cod pita was incredibly tasty, but a tad hard to eat. Approach it as an *open-face* and you'll love it. Next time, I'll probably go back to one of the pasta dishes. My friend tore through the chicken Pappardelle - yum! And we both liked our desserts - the oatmeal bar and the banana split. (Nice to have a banana split of a size that's possible to eat!) The *crunch* on the banana is inspired! Always enjoy my visits to Preservation Kitchen.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
very imaginative and flavorful
very imaginative and flavorful salads and desserts.

Worth the drive from anywhere!
We tried the Seattle Restaurant Week promo with another couple who lived only 7 miles away from Preservation Kitchen. All of the appetizers, mains, and desserts were excellent and with some surprises. Do get there early because their onsite parking fills up, even though they had available tables in the restaurant, good capacity for more refined palates to indulge. Nice, efficient waitstaff also. Great wines/champagne by the glass also. ENJOY! We did!
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice dining in Bothell
The place is on Bothell way so there's a bit of road noise, but is otherwise surrounded by trees and feels quite peaceful. We arrived at 5 when they were just opening so it was still quiet. Service was excellent, mixed drinks were great, beer selection was awesome. We had the 3 course Restaurant week deal and the entrees were all great as well, we had the seared pork, paella, and the ravioli putanesca. Thanks!
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was really wonderful
The food was really wonderful and well worth the visit. We especially loved the pork & blue salad, wild mushroom risotto, duck leg, and pork tenderloin (all featured on the Restaurant Week menu). Noise can be a problem. We were in the room adjacent to the bar and it was slightly noisy. There are two TVs in that room as well, but luckily they were not on (they had been when my friend was there a week earlier, and she said it was so noisy you couldn't carry on a conversation). I specifically mentioned noise as an issue, and they tried to accommodate. They would have put us in the quieter front rooms, but they had a couple of big groups that made them noisier than usual.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
We dined their last night and the food was excellent! The mussel's to die for-the salad I could have ordered 3 of them and had that for my meal-it was one of a kind. The ladies enjoyed their wine and the prices were very reasonable. All entrees were served hot and the food was very fresh-quite surprised to find a restaurant like this in Bothell, WA. I live right around the corner drove by it for years and this was our first visit-go figure! We'll definitely be going back often.

A hidden gem
This was my first time at Preservation Kitchen and I was completely charmed by the ambiance and service. The food was delicious and wine selection satisfying. I will be eating there more often.
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
We are never disappointed
We are never disappointed here. This time we tried the 3 for $15 rather than go for our favorites.
My boar ragu was a perfect winter Italian pasta. All 3 courses were excellent.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had never been to Preservation Kitchen, and thanks to Dine around Seattle, I visited them for the first time. This is a great restaurant in an area that is experiencing rapid changes in character, development, and personality. Preservation Kitchen is much more than you might expect if you just happened to drive by. The food is well above average, the service is friendly and low key, and they have an additional bar/pub area that would be cozy and fun on dark Seattle nights. Give them a chance--you won't be disappointed. (They changed my entire opinion of Brussels Sprouts!)
11/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
Very pleasant meal
I had wanted to eat at this place for years and through several restaurant incarnations. We went for brunch. The menu doesn't have anything. surprising or exotic on it, but there were plenty of choices. The wine and cocktail list was broad. The building is beautiful, with lots of old wood and a faint and enjoyable aroma of linseed oil. My Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was fine; my friend's mushroom omelet was tastier. The service was friendly but a bit distracted.
I noted on leaving that the bar area was really beautiful, and they have a long happy hour menu of snacks, and very good drink prices. I think I would be tempted to come back in the afternoon

The Preservation Kitchen is perfect
I have long wanted to dine at Preservation Kitchen, but just hadn't gotten around to it. When I received some good news at work, I took my husband to celebrate and it was the perfect evening. The ambiance of the historic 1915 home, in pristine condition, and the combination of exceptional service and art-like, generously portioned main courses made the evening one to remember. We'll be back...perhaps often and not just for special occasions. Thank you to all the wait staff and kitchen staff who made the evening so lovely!

sunday brunch 11/24/2013
courteous and attentive waitstaff, large portions, enjoyed the Yukon potato Hash but it crowded the plate,The sauce didn't appear to be a true Hollandaise but was more of a cheddar cheesy flavored sauce-not bad just different.poached eggs were slightly overcooked to my liking(was not asked how i would prefer my eggs cooked)Presentation was weak.In spite of these minor issues,we will return for dinner to try other menu items.I support local business. prices are fair and affordable
11/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food was excellent but the service was very, very slow. If the restaurant was packed I would understand the slow service but it wasn't.
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Top notch Thanksgiving
I had heard mixed reviews about the food and service, but my experience at Preservation Kitchen was first rate! The food was delicious and well prepared. The service was warm and attentive. Overall it was an excellent dining experience.

It's a bit more expensive than I would usually pay, but worth it!
