Food was great. Service great
Food was great. Service great although food was a little slow to come out in the beginning. Very noisy place but we had a great time as did our out of town guests. Lamb lollipops and cerviche were very very good.

This was the second time I've
This was the second time I've been there and enjoyed it thoroughly both times. My mother, who was convinced she didn't like mussels, now likes them after trying their pesto mussels. The roasted chicken was delicious! The only thing that didn't knock our socks off were the bread pudding and tiramisu. Compared to the rest of the food the desserts were just ok, the bread pudding seemed like it needed a little more love. Regardless of the desserts, we had a great experience and will definitely be back!

Cool place but food not so good
First time here but went with another couple that comes here often. The ambiance is great. This is a hip place and it does help to be on busy street. It was very busy when we got here on Friday night. The service was excellent. The food is not so great. I have had better tapas in the city. We usually do not return food to the kitchen but had to return the paella back. The paella said it feeds 2 but it easily feeds 8! Really big but I wished it tasted better- lacked flavor and rice undercooked. Other foods (artichoke hearts, flatbread, meat and cheese plate, fried oysters, and cerviche) were okay. Rioja was great. Most memorable part of the night is when the waiter bought ice cream across the street to serve with our bread pudding!

Got the paella this time.
Got the paella this time. Very good seafood paella, but I missed the chicken and the sausage. Had some excellent Spanish wine. I got to watch a soccer game, which my wife probably did not appreciate.

We always enjoy this place. It offers something for everyone and you can dine on good food without destroying your wallet. However, I have found that the service is increasingly slow. My fiance waited tables for 10+ years so I have the utmost respect for the amount of work and effort it requires, but I am not afraid to say it when I think the service couldve been better. Our waitress was friendly and attentive when she interacted with us but it seemd our food sat after being plated because it wasnt that hot anymore. The good news is that regardless of temperature, the cuisine is delicious and very well priced for the portions.

Family and friends met here for lunch on a Saturday. We had reservations though we probably didn't need them. Service was prompt other than a bit of a wait on the drink we had ordered from the bar. Mussels were beautifully prepared, as was flatbread.

First Time But Not The Last
The food was well prepared and well presented. In our party of 7 everyone choose from the small plate menu and all were pleased with their selection. My daughters and I arrived early but were still invited to be seated at our table if we liked. I've had the experience at other restaurants that they want to whole party to arrive before being seated. We opted to sit at the bar and enjoyed a glass of wine where we were offered a tasting prior to ordering. The service was prompt and friendly.

Great food. Very noisy. Waite staff, OK. But I would go back just for the food. It is exceptional.

Julie was the waitrees and was superb. We had the sea bass, hamburger and paella. All were great - my only comment was the paella was overstuffed with rice instead of few more pieces of some sort of seafood fish.

Must Do Salu
The restaurant is easily found on vibrant Magazine Street. The crowd is hip and the food modern. Wine list is great, little known wineries, well researched by the owners and well known by the staff. The managers are quite knowledgeable of culinary culture and are very helpful, cheery and friendly.
Must do on Magazine.

Had a good meal at Salu....crab & crimini flatbread, mushroom empanadas, medjool dates, grilled brie between a few of us. It was all tasty! Friendly service & good location. A nice change from a lot of restaurants in New Orleans that leave you feeling stuffed with cream and butter sauces on everything!!!

Everything we ordered was wonderful. My overall experience was great and I left full and pleased:)
also there is free parking after 5 for Salu patrons in the Liberty Bank parking lot next door...SCORE!

Great place for sharing
Family of 4 including 2 teenaged kids and e shared a bunch of "small plates." All were excellent. Flatbread pizzas were a big hit as was the risotto. Be sure to save room for desserts. The Maple Bread Pudding was outstanding.

Lots of great small plates and flatbreads to choose from! The Fried artichokes and lamb lollipops were soooo good! Brandon, our waiter was terrific........nice personality and service! The kitchen manager was running the kitchen like a finely oiled machine! He was on top of things and I noticed it! Will definitely go back! Big screen tvs are nice to catch games too!

Salu always goes above and beyond for me! The staff is friendly and personable and the manager Greg is the best in the city! Always a great time whether for happy hour or a nice dinner with the hubby. Food is excellent as allows variety with the small plates, drinks are great too.

Great food, quick service
We were looking for something different while down in New Orleans on vacation. My husband hadn't been to a tapas place before, I had. The waiter explained everything and gave suggestions based on plate sizes and what he liked best. We had an order of mussels (bacon), flat bread (with fig jam, prosciutto, goat cheese and arugula), lamb lollipops and th stuffed dates. Sooo very good. We finished with a Nutella flatbread and the bread pudding. Everything was amazing.
Next time we go to New Orleans we'll definitely be making a stop at Salu.

Solid tapas on Magazine St
There are so many restaurants along Magazine near Salu that it's easy to miss one. But my girlfriend and I were looking for a casual Friday night option and Salu fit the bill.
Service was prompt, polite, and professional. Food was very good to excellent. Charcuterie/cheese plate was a great appetizer, reasonably priced. The fig & proscuitto flatbread was delicious and a very generous portion - easily shared between two people. Crab cakes were okay, but wouldn't order them again.
Drinks were good, house pisco sour was heavy on the pineapple juice but otherwise did the trick. Kudos to Salu for keeping most cocktails in the $7-8 dollar range, much more reasonable than many new cocktail programs.

Liked it so much we went back!
Had a dinner of small plates that were excellent. Went back two days later for lunch and it was great.

One of my Nola favorites
I go back for the bacon-wrapped dates every time. Unfortunately, they were out of dates :(
Still had several great selections including mussels, ceviche and prosciutto flatbread! Our server recommended an excellent wine pairing and was fun, attentive and engaging without being a pest. Good experience despite lack of dates!

My friends and I had a great time at Salu! The wait satf was very friendly and attentive, the food was made quickly and it was delicious! There is a great special on Thursday nights: a huge dish of paella (that can easily feed 4-5 people) and complementary bottle of wine for $35! You can't beat that!

Better tapas than in Spain!
We shared a dozen small dishes and a flatbread. All were excellent, particularly the marjool dates, stuffed chicken, cheese plate.

Fourth time to dine and seldom disappointed. Great small plates, attentive wait staff and nice ambiance. Brought friends and family from out of town, and everyone loved it. Will absolutely be back again soon.

Great dinner, though a little noisy
We had a nice meal here. The host was great and checked on us a few times over the course of the night. The restaurant is a nice space, in a good location and there was a nice crowd on a Friday night around 9:00 p.m. Tapas is the focus, and we had the small plates of strip steak, grilled brie, bratwurst and wild mushroom empenadas. All were good, but the brie was the hit and the pretzel that came with the bratwurst reminded me of the pretzels from Germany. Bread pudding was a hit too, with crushed candied pecans on top. The only downside was the noise --- and it was quite loud because of the acoustics of the space. Not a deal killer though; we got used to it and had a good time.
