Sandy puts on a great dinner
We have been eating at Gramercy Bistro for ten years. Food and service are consistently excellent. Sweet breads are a personal favorite with scallops a close second. We have never been rushed or ignored and thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience.

Great feeder to Mass MoCA.
Great feeder to Mass MoCA. A 30 second walk from the main entrance. Restaurant filled up in anticipation of an event at the performing arts center. Food came out on time, hot, perfectly prepared and accomodating special requests. Wait staff were attentive and friendly.

A lovely restaurant at which we enjoyed a wonderful brunch. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed it very much.

We enjoyed our meal very much.
We enjoyed our meal very much. Coq au Vin and Tuna. Excellent wine selection, and the dining room was lovely. Acoustics were great - with a half full dining room we felt like we were eating alone. Thanks to all.

Good accompaniment for a visit
Good accompaniment for a visit to MASS MoCA, appears to be the hippest place to eat in North Adams. Everything we ordered was well-executed and service was competent. This place might struggle a bit in a more competitive market but it's a great option if you're looking for a bit of sophistication out the Berkshires.

Fantastic restaurant to celebrate an anniversary, as we did!

As always, the Sunday Brunch was delightful and the service was incredible! A perfect way to spend a Mothers Day!
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
I've been to Gramercy a number of times and they continue to put out some of the best food in the area. I highly recommend this place for both dinner and brunch.

We dined at Grammercy Bistro recently and had a very nice meal with good service and nice ambience. Should we ever be in North Adams again we would definitely eat there. Prices were not that bad for high end filet mignon and pheasant. My only comment would be you need more chocolate on the dessert menu!

Fit for a celebration!
Took my husband here for his 60th birthday! We were visiting from Boston and stayed at Porches. The restaurant was just a 5 minute walk from the inn! Great ambiance, great food, great service! The wine list was wonderful and the wait staff very helpful. Would go back again in a heartbeat!

Next to MoCA, a great stop
Next to MoCA, a great stop just before an evening performance, or after a walk through the museum. Reasonable prices, nice wine list, though limited choices. Though small menu, quality food, nice service, never felt rushed. Older crowd, small bar.
5/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were completely surprised by the quality of the food. SWe had heard good things, but were taken aback by all.

Very good. They had a service
Very good. They had a service issue the night we were there, not sure if that's fluke or not. The antipasti plate was the highlight of the evening- Rich, pure burrata, artichoke, charcuterie. The schnitzel was nice with a fried egg on top, but I was hoping for something pounded a little thinner with a crispier, less greasy crust. The Caesar salad was very good, as were the scallops.

Second visit. Both were very special. Four meals, two outstanding, two OK (paella). First visit was for 2 with both meals great (especially the seared tuna). Love the ambience and location.

Great food, nice location in MOCA
Went there for dinner while in town for a few days. Had a great meal with great service!

A gem in the Berkshires
Excellent food - I had the sesame tuna which was prepared perfectly and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding. Can't wait to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Gramercy Bistro. Our server was terrific--great descriptions which aided in food selection.

A great family outing

Best before or after MassMOCA
Gramercy Bisto is on the campus of MassMOCA, a delightful bistro with distinguished food and service. It was not crowded on the day we visited, and service was friendly. But it was the food that was outstanding. Four of us each raved about our choice from a variety of entrees on the menu. Prices were low for the outstanding quality.

A Wonderful Anniversary Dinner
We had excellent food and drinks. The manager actually called me ahead of time to arrange a custom anniversary dessert for us, a strawberry rhubarb mousse tarte for two. We had the spinach salad, crab cake, then the southwest sea scallops for my wife and the veal schnitzel for myself. The presentation and food quality were exceptional. I highly recommend Gramercy for a special occasion or when you are looking to impress. You will not be disappointed.

We have eaten here a number
We have eaten here a number of times over the years when we visit Mass Moca and like the restaurant very much . The food is very good but as we age we need less fat. We ordered the trout amadine which was delicious but seemed it could not
be done other than in butter....same with the vegetables although we asked for as little as possible. The next meal we had the
pasta with vegetables which seemed lower in fat but still had oil. It was all delicious but given our diet needs we will have to be more careful now. It would be nice to offer the option of steaming fish and vegetables and maybe a simple fat free (or almost) pasta dish... easy for the kitchen to handle but healthy for people like us.

We had little expectation of a great meal at this Open Table find in North Adams, MA.. As soon as we stepped inside it was obvious that this was going to be a pleasant experience. We were greeted by three staff members, taken directly ot our table in spite of being early for our reservation. The dining space is perfectly in keeping with it's location inside the Mass. MOCA complex. The cocktails were exactly the way we like them, an unusual event outside big cities. The menu was well balanced; something for everyone. Our dishes from the daily specials and the main menu were perfect. The wine list was well priced and interesting. Farm to table is often talked about with great enthusiasm, rarely done well, the kitchen team here got it right!

Same Great Food in a New Space
We've been coming to Gramercy Bistro for years; whenever we visit MassMoca.
It has moved from its old location, which was sad for me; I loved the dark-wood old-world coziness of the previous location. They are now in the MassMoca complex. The new space is modern and bright, very nice, but I do prefer the old one.
The food is as excellent as ever.
The only real criticism I have is for the service. It was not the fault of our very friendly and hard-working waiter; they were just terribly under-staffed. It was a busy night, and our waiter was also hosting, and busing tables. We waited a long time to be seated, although we had a reservation, and a long time for everything else. And this was on a Saturday night with a big event at the museum.

Don't miss Grammercy Bistro
The perfect complement to a visit to North Adams and Mass Moca or a wonderful place to frequent if you live in the area. Well priced, wonderfully prepared and good selections on the menu.

Great for gastronomic break
Situated in the courtyard of Mass MoCA, the Bistro is a relaxing, elegant alternative to the bustling cafe in the museum. Great food, lovely service, a charming terrace and elegant interior dining room. The perfect place to relax between exhibitions.

Went to theater in Williamstown and had a wonderful meal with my wife . The scallops and tuna entrees were excellent.

The food was excellent. The service was a little slow, but only because there was an unusually large dinner crowd for a Monday evening. We would definitely dine there again if we are in the area and will recommend it to friends.

Varied menu. We went on a Thursday evening and there were only a few patrons. Food and service were very good.

Convenient gourmet dining
If you are at a festival or going to Mass MoCA or both, the closest location is Gramercy Bistro. The Coque au Vin was the best I've had. Topped off with bits of dried onion and on a bed of noodles. They had the good taste to not put too many noodles on the plate. My husband had trout almondine. He ate every bite. The side vegetables were buttery and cooked perfectly. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. It was a very nice dining experience!

Don't Miss this Place
Located on the grounds of Mass MoCA in North Adams, MA, this restaurant is a real find. Quiet, sophisticated, interesting and outstanding food with very personable service.

Another Fine Dinner!
We are "summer people" and eat at Gramercy Bistro a couple of times during the season. The food is always fresh and well prepared. In the past I have commented to my husband that the menu is always the same but this time I noted several very interesting changes. Highly recommended.
We will be back in the spring!

Just loved it!
Amidst a plethora of franchised and predictable and ordinary alternatives the Gramercy Bistro shines.
Not the easiest place to find at night within the buildings of MASS MOCA, but we'd done a recce that morning so it was easy for us. Walk inside and the rather dismal exterior transforms to a delightful airy restaurant full of well spaced white linen covered tables.
The greeting was welcoming and the service throughout was friendly but professional. The wine list was limited but well chosen and the menu excellent and inviting.
We had a brilliant meal and loved every minute of it.
Well done to The Gramercy Bistro!

A Lovely Evening
Tasteful decor, attentive service, well presented food. The best: Our waiter, a college student, was professional but friendly and funny in response to our personalities. The scallops were done to a turn- perfectly sweet and moist without being raw. The seared tuna was silky. Everything tasted like real food: fresh and not grown solely for its keeping qualities. Desserts were no let down- especially the pistachio tart! Negatives? Ravioli were tasty but a bit tough and heavy, and the fried kale garnish was pretty but awkward to consume. Clarified butter sealing the påté was too thick/too hard. Easy to remove if you prefer, but difficult to handle if you want it. The bread is made there and served warm, but I prefer more character. Go, Enjoy!

A gem in the Berkshires.
Excellent, family style Italian with very friendly service and ambiance. Portions are large and the prices are fair. Highly recommended.

Walk to MassMoca
This restaurant is always a treat to go to before an event at MassMoca, or after visiting the Museum. I love it.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Gramercy Bistro is one of only two premier restaurants in the northern Berkshires. Intimate, friendly and of superior quality cuisine this chef owned (Sandy Smith) eatery is a must for visitors to Mass MoCA and the area.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
I always count on Gramercy Bistro for dine food in a handsome and unusual setting. It's a North Berkshire keeper.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
I hadn't been to Gramercy in some time and my return was well worth the trip!
Many of my menu favorites were still listed with a lot of nice new additions. Portions were perfect--not too large and more importantly, not too small, like many other finer dining establishments.
I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Mass MOCA- best place for dinner
We enjoyed our dinner here. Nice ambience, good food. Waitress not the most at tentative but fine. Best choice of restaurants if one is staying locally to visit Mass MOCA. It is within walking distance to Porches.

Surprisingly chic find!
Never expected such sophisticated fare or diligent service
From a North Adams spot. We came for a sports match at Williams. Our party grew from
10 to 24 during the day and we were graciously
Accommodated. Our group was mainly from New York and San Francisco
So we were used to excellent dining. Everyone was impressed!!
Nicely varied menu, friendly servers and reasonable
Pricing for the level of cuisine. And next to Mass MOCA

Excellent dinner spot
Terrific food and great service. Always a treat to visit. Toughest part was choosing from the very good menu. Our party had paella, trout, ravioli, and duck. Everyone left very happy.

Massachusetts residents dining for the first time at Gramercy on Thanksgiving Day; overall excellent dining experience; service staff was professional and quietly attentive; the dinner that day mainly fixed: a traditional, more than complete, heaped high and very delicious Thanksgiving Day dinner with a choice of appetizers and desserts; first course butternut squash/apple cider soup was rich and flavorful. I look forward to return visits to taste selections from a full service menu.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Overall an excellent experience.
We had heard that it was good, and were not disappointed. Not a large menu of choices, but the menu is innovative and the food was excellent. Haven't head a real Caesar Salad since most restaurants have wimped out on the raw egg, it reminded me of the Caesar's I made at home. The Paella Andalusia style was quite good, the shellfish tasted fresh.
We were so pleased that we returned for brunch the next day. I highly recommend the egg tart.
