The Belfry never dissapoints.
The Belfry never dissapoints. Always new and creative cuisine. Great cocktails, imaginative entrees and fair prices. 1 App, 2 Cocktails, 2 Entrees and 1 Dessert = $124 (includes just over a 20% tip). So it's not really more expensive than any other up-scale restaurant in the area (which IMHO is hurting for up-scale creative cuisine).

The food and service were very good. Portion was a good size, filled me up and no room for dessert. We dined indoors, as it is still cold outside. The dinning area is great...stone walls, high ceilings, stained glass. If you're in the area and looking for a nice dinner out I'd definitely check out the Bistro.

A gem on the Upper Cape.
Although we are nearby residents, we had missed this gem. The Scallop plate was superb and the Swordfish above average. The calamari appetizer was prepared perfectly and with a very attractive presentation as were the entres. The ambiance is lovely with the chapel motif maintained, and live dinner music by a piano player. Last but not least, my martini (Gibson) was generous and perfectly chilled.

The food was very good, however, the maitre d' sat me and my elderly mother at a table in the bar area, when there were obviously tables for 2 available in the main room, since other people, who came after us, were seated there. So my mother had to climb up and down steps and it was too noisey in the bar area. It wasn't very convenient nor accomodating.

This former Catholic church still has the warm church feel but a vibrant personality

An amazing experience
Mother's day options can be limited & mundane. NOT the case at the Belfry Inne & Bistro. The wonderfully restored old church setting set a peacful, relaxing tone. The menu was varied & enticing. Making a choice was hard, to say the least. The options made it possible for us to let our more elderly mothers have lots of choices that met their dietary restrictions & desires. Service was great. The Server was a lovely young woman who toild us the history of the Bistro & was so friendly and accommodating. Desert, oh my, was it good. We ordered 4 deserts & shared them. The Mousse Trio was heavenly, the Cherry desert was delectable and the Brulee was so smooth & tasty without being too sweet. Overall, an amazing Mother's Day meal.

Special treat for restaurant week
My husband and I have tried on two previous occasions to have dinner at the Belfry Inn, and both times we needed to cancel our reservations. This time we finally made it there and we were so pleased with the service, the food and the ambience. My husband had the Mussels as his appetizer, and the salmon entree...served with baby bok choy and pea flan,; I had the grilled hanger steak, wild rice and broccoli, after starting with a deliscous bowl of clam chowder. We are looking forward to a repeat visit.

Could not have been happier!
I had asked for a special table as I was entertaining out of town guests and they could not have been more accommodating. They gave me a private little room, I believe it was the old "Bell Tower" which was very intimate and quite lovely. It was filled with beautiful glass candles that were all lit when we arrived. The service was excellent and I thought the food was wonderful. I had the iceberg lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing which was delicious and plentiful. I ordered the scallops for my entree and have been thinking about them ever since, they were done perfectly and served with the most light and fluffy mashed potatoes. All and all , it was a delightful evening and I am definitely going back for the scallops again.

will go back
Second time at the Belfry. Being a regular in providence, ri's amazing foodie restaurant scene, (ranked #1 in 2013 by Travel and Leisure)...standards are high.
The Belfry offers imaginative food; prepared with care. the conversion of a church into hotel/restaurant is well done and provides a fun, elegant environment. Prices are high, but fair. A special occasion restaurant.
5/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Once again we were not disappointed! The food was superb and plated beautifully. There was a wine tasting going on at the time of our visit. The staff were very busy and yet they found the time to cater to our needs.

Fine dining treat
Located in an old church we were intrigued with the restaurant from the outside. Once inside we couldn't have been more pleased, The menu is limited but more than adequate. Presentation of my entre of lemon-zested mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts and scallops was so beautiful I took a photo. The tastes as wonderful of the looks. The ambience was quiet but the season on Cape Cod is not in full swing in early June. There was a piano in the main dining room -- used on weekends? There was two special party rooms. A great dining experience for those willing to pay $125 - 135 for two.

Beautiful revovated church. Nice menu with variety, filet mignon was excellent. Limited drink list but a few tasty concotions.

Excellent as usual
This place is just a gem. It is almost always consistently excellent and this, my most recent visit, did not disappoint. I had the swordfish special of the day with corn and edamame succotash, snap peas and tricolored fingerling potatoes all with a lighter than air thyme beurre sauce. Absolutely outstanding. My dining companion had the hanger steak and frites which also was divine. You just can't go wrong here. It's not an everyday kind of place as it can be a little pricey for a non-major metropolitan location but for a special occasion it's a real treat.

Great restaurant setting in an outstanding renovated church. This was our third time at the restaurant for a special occasion this month and we truly enjoyed all three visits.

This was our forth time dining at the Belfry. Another fantastic night. It was my wife's birthday. I indicated that on my OpenTable reservation and our hostess made sure to wish my wife happy birthday, as did the waitress. Service and food was outstanding.

great little spot
Had last minute reservations. Very nicely done old church. Excellent food. Average desert. Bad service. Arrived 15 minutes early on a late Saturday. They had us wait 20 minutes though there were3 empty tables. Then the waitress arrived 15 min later. When the average entree price is $35 you expect better.regardless the food was delicious

Outstanding find on the Cape!!
One time my wife and I were on the Cape for a quick get-a-way and stumbled on the Belfry for lunch and a great experience. We decided that the next time were were on the Cape we would try the Belfry for dinner. We were very pleased with our experience. The restaurant was built inside an old church. The owner's have done an amazing job keeping the fine wood look of the sanctuary but making it a vibrant and beautiful restaurant experience. My wife had the Statler Chicken and I had the Duck, both Delicious! What made the evening for us was the service. Courtney read our Open Table notes before coming to wait on us and was happy to make sure we had a wonderful evening. The Belfry is a can't miss, next time we'll bring friends!

Our granddaughter and her friend loved the place. What a wonderful way to celebrate her 16th ....as always terrific..
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very interesting setting with fine food. We were in the tower room which is a nice, secluded little room, away from the hustle and bustle of a busy place on Saturday night. Very nice menu with great execution. The menu is somewhat short, but everything is very imaginative and very well done. We had a very personable waitress who really helped make the night. The wine list is extensive and very well priced. This is at the top end of Cape dining, with a relaxed atmosphere and a great wine list.

A nice find on the Cape
Tucked into downtown historic Sandwich, in a beautifully restored church, the Belfry is a great to have spot for near big city quality fine dining. A nicely varied menu, generous portions, friendly staff, and a great drink roster, a perfect place to land for an indoor or outdoor breakaway from the typical summer beach fare. Twas not always so that we even had this option on the Cape, so its a delight to have the Belfry now. Our best wishes!!

Kiss me Kate
Expensive but worth it. Especially if you were in the company of a beautiful woman like I was. Sea bass was memorable. Very enjoyable and quietly comfortable.

Dinner under the Arches
Live piano music, elegant scene, and great food provided an excellent setting for a 60th birthday celebration.
While we ate inside in the remodeled church with interesting wood carvings, stained glass panels, and beautiful soaring beams; the outside patio was also a wonderful setting especially for a warm summer evening.
Parking is available on site and the town of Sandwich contains many beautiful old homes.
White tablecloths suggested formality, but diners came suitably dressed for the weather.
While we were staying 30 minutes away, we would return again.

We had a very good experience and will be back. Foie Gras was cooked perfect! We also had the lobster and the cod. The broth that came with the cod was delicious and plentiful. Our waitress was thoughtful and attentive - excellent service!
The Belfry is a hidden gem and well worth the trip.

Elegance and Charm
The Belfry Inn and Bistro never disappoints! It has an elegant charm and an exceptional menu! The service is designed to allow for your dining pleasure (and for us that means no rush!) and the ambiance is perfect for a cozy meal with that special person! Sometimes there is live piano music, although on this particular night there wasn't. It's a perfect spot for a luxurious special occastion!

Best gourmet restaurant around
Wonderful unique atmosphere with church converted into a restaurant - stained glass windows and soaring ceilings. Delicious gourmet dining and great service. Duck was moist and flavorful - asked for more of the sauce..cherry and slightly sweet. Small chunks of potatos, beets and a few pieces of kale. Two nice size chunks, enough for a light lunch the next day. Delicious. Salmon was good. The cod fish and chips was a clean, not fishy and not greasy. Very good. Fries were okay, a litle dry. Excellent wine list..For the Wed night wine and appetizer tasting, you need to call directly. $25 per person and very worth it. 4 tastings with 4 small appetizers. It fills up so call well in advance. I had the fish and chips that night.

Rhis was our second time at he Belfry Inn and was again pleasantly surprised with a wonderful meal. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection and was excelent. Would highly recomend it. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and the service was very good. Four of us dined, and all enjoyed their meal. Martinis which were served in large glasses were a good pour. Always appealing for us martini lovers. Overall, we would recomend this restaurant and will return there soon.

very nice night out
really nice and unique place considering it is in an old church. i heard that the outdoor dining was excellent as well from a friend. the server we had was excellent although we ended up staying in the bar area because of table availability. the food was great and they had very good selections. was cooked perfectly and presented well. the only slight complaint we would have is it was a bit pricey for what you got. we live in fairfield county CT and are used to high prices but this was a bit more considering the food. overall very good.

Sandwich was a central meeting place for our group and found he Belfry on Open Table with good reviews.
I must say everything about my experience there was satisfying. Not only was the food expertly prepared and fresh, the quanitiy and quality for the price was amazing.

our new Friday night haunt
We recently moved to Sandwich, MA and the Belfry Inn has quickly become our new Friday night restaurant of choice. The food is very good - not elaborate, but thoughtfully prepared with local ingredients. The service has been excellent. The building is lovely....a nicely renovated Church and there is also a pianist in the background. We have started to look forward to our dinners there and highly recommend it. A great way to being the weekend.

The service was great, Lynn could not have done more for us it she had tried. She was so very nice and fun to talk with. Thanks to he, please pass that along.

Above and beyond
What can we say, the Belfry Inne is above and beyond for fine dining on the upper Cape and has been one of our favorite restaurants for a few years now. We enjoyed a romantic evening out sitting by the fire while the pianist was playing in the background. The food tastes equally as good as it presented.

We had a dinner for 8 the evening after Thanksgiving to celebrate our amazing mother. The dining room was lovely, and had been tastefully dressed with the lights and greens of Christmas. The food was delicious. We shared salads to start. The entrees included the scallop dish, salmon, chicken and steak frite - everyone loved their dinners. The wine selection was great- offering many country choices and a range of bottle prices from the moderate 30's to high end/ high price. The service was perfect and attentive and the pace was leisurely but not slow. We'll be back again and again.
