We decided on the chefs seven
We decided on the chefs seven course dinner with the wine pairing. We thought things got off to a slow start but ramped up with each successive course. Our server was excellent, explaining the individual components of each dish and was very knowledgeable about the wine. We were very happy with the pairings. Our favorite was the red snapper paired with Madeira. Delicious ! By the end of the evening we both were very satisfied with our dining experience. We did feel it was a bit loud and dark.

Overall, the chef's tasting
Overall, the chef's tasting menu was delicious. But in some dishes, some flavors were overwhelmed by other ingredients, and the server mis-reported ingredients. For example, the peach (reported was yellow watermelon) masked the delicate scallop flavor, and I regretted not separating the foie gras from its plum jelly encasing. I am happy to report that our server and the rest of the staff felt honestly very welcoming.

Food was unique but amazing
My husband and I went here for my birthday. I have a girl/culinary crush on Kristen Kish and was dying to try her food. After seeing the menu, the price, and reading other reviews, I knew this was a special event kind of place. We choose the chefs tasting menu (if you are going to Menton and you know the bill is going to be significant - you might as well go all in). We admitted we were adventurous with food, to which they responded with plate after plate of amazingly delicious food. I think all in, we were given 10-11 gorgeous plates, each one better than the last.
As many reviewers have said, and will continue to say, it is PRICEY, but if you are looking for a memorable evening of culinary excellence - Menton is a good choice.

I was lucky enough to have a spectacular meal at Menton for a very special occasion. I thought they had charged a service fee and I was wrong and they were very concerned and cared whether I had a positive experience. It is encouraging when a restaurant cares so much about the experience of a patron. I would highly recommend.

New format, consistent quality
When we heard that Menton had changed the format of its tasting menu with the arrival of new CDC, Kristen Kish, we were worried--we loved the old format! Fortunately, despite a different way of describing the menu, the quality and style are very much the same. They still do butter soup! The biggest change we noted was in the wine pairings--while Cat Silirie is still the wine director for the Barbara Lynch Gruppo, she has turned over pairings to different individuals at Menton and No. 9 Park and they are moving away from her focus on Austrian wines (although the Kracher Beerenauslese did make an appearance), ranging more widely through the list to find exquisite pairings. The serving team is still the best in the city--and maybe the world!

BEST MEAL EVER
What more is there to say that isn't covered in the title of this review. I have never had a dining experience like this before in my life. The food was stunningly delicious, the waiter was amazingly professional and helpful, and the overall experience was literally perfect. It is absolutely worth the price and I will be saving every free dollar I can find until I have enough to go here again. If you are looking for the best, most exclusive food in Boston GO HERE.

First time we went for my
First time we went for my son's wedding celebration and the second time it was to celebrate his birthday. Food was outstanding and all the people very kind on both events. I have been in restaurants of this level (which is very high on everything) and this is my favorite. What you pay is what you get. Congratulations!!

Wonderful evening of truly
Wonderful evening of truly exceptional dining. My yellowfin tuna first course was sublime. The lamb was delicious. The service was impeccable and the entire experience was fun. Not something we could do every night, it is pricey, but definitely worth it for that special occasion.

Enjoyed Chef's Menu/fine cuisine! Wine pairings absolutely PERFECT! Best/exquisite foix gras ever! Looked fwd to quiet evening of fine dining in upscale establishment, but music hit us like a brick--selection not conducive to relaxing & notably too loud (esp before tables filled). Distinct incongruence between professionally dressed male wait-staff & very casually/mixed dressed female staff--as tho pulled in last min. Tho plethora of wait staff provided decent svc, none we encountered exuded passion for what they were doing (1 exception--asian gentleman tending reception very enthusiastic). Staff otherwise seemed simply going thru motions/as they thought expected of them. Everyone experiences an off-nite; perhaps this was the case.

outstanding on all levels
Menton is the best in all categories. This evening will be remembered forever. Can't wait to go back.

Romantic Birthday Dinner
The food, wine, and service were excellent! My husband and I truly enjoyed our dining experience. I will highly recommend Menton to my friends traveling to Boston!

An truly unique taste experience
The offerings at Menton, from first taste to last bite, thrilled, titillated and satisfied every inch of our taste buds completely.
We celebrated a birthday, and everything was perfect, the food, the atmosphere, the service. We ordered the tasting menu, and the only thing I would say is that even with the courses spread out for us to be able to fully appreciate each one, we found that it was too much food for one evening. The prix fixe menu, for us, would have been enough. For a birthday celebration, you can tailor-make your title to the menu, the beautifully handwritten message, written in the desert sauce gracing the desert was a surprising and delightful touch. This is an elegant restaurant, worth the expense, but it is quite expensive.

Impressively executed dishes
Impressively executed dishes with beautiful plating. We did the four course pre fixe and I had the bluefin tuna, monkfish, ceci socca and beignets for dessert. Every dish was seasonally paired with accompaniments and the service was great! We even had about five additional amuse bouche courses! All of which were creative and tasty! Will definitely return!

Great Anniversary dinner!
It was worth the price! The prix fixe meal was more than enough food! I plan to return next time I am in Boston!
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fabulous in every way!
Dinner was everything we expected and more! Thank you so much!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything from the food to the service was terrific. In addition to the four course fixed-price meal, they kept bringing little extras in between courses and even after dessert. The food was immaculately presented and expertly prepared. The price was very high (after tax & tip, about $130 per person with minimal drinks), so special occasions only!

Dinner of the Year
We travel and eat at wonderful restauants often. It is not often that the front of the house from seating through wine list knowledge and food pairing is a star with the kitchen. In this case, they both made the dining experience WONDERFUL. We paired three great bottlesfrom France, California and Tuscany with mouth watering food that was presented as a beautiful painting on the plate. I highly recommend you try this restaurant when visiting Boston. Also, a viisit to the kitchen finished our evening. Bravo to the the two under 30 women who make this restaurant so wonderful!!!!!

A treat for real foodies
We had a sensational dinner at Menton's. There are two choices on the menu: the tasting menu or chef's choice, in which you just leave it up to the chef to create the courses. We chose the tasting menu with a wine pairing. We started out with 4 (!) amuse bouches, all delicious, followed by our well-timed courses. Each one was elegantly presented, with complex, interesting flavors and textures. We savored every bite. Following the courses, we got 4 more amuse bouches. The services was excellent and knowledgeable. The ambiance was simple: black, gray and white. Not cheap, of course, but good value for the product. We would return in a heartbeat, and perhaps next time, we'll try the chef's choice. Highly recommended.

It's nice to have a great place in Boston to dine well in the "old style" of great food and truly elegant service. The waitstaff and dining room managers are outstanding - attentive without being overbearing and classicly professional while being friendly and informative. The meal was imaginative yet classic and delicious. The only defect was the glaring fluorescent lighting from the kitchen which as distracting and annoying. Although I certainly understand the need for a large window in the door to prevent accidents I would think there could have been someway to tone down the light into the dining room. Otherwise they would have gotten a perfect score from me.

I had given up on good restaurants
I had moved to Boston 3 years ago and had given up on finding a Zagat rated restaurant of 25 or greater that deserved its rating. And then I went to Menton. OMG, Everything was literally perfect. I had the a la carte menu but you still get their signature "growing and shrinking sizes" small bites throughout dinner. A must if you have some expendable money, or if you want to treat someone special.
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Awesome dining experience
From the moment we sat down, we knew we were in for a treat! Staff were friendly and at your fingertips. Savory little bites came out to temp you about what was to come. Amazing wine list, but many European choices.
Did $95 menu . Fois Gras pate was SO creamy. Soup amazing as was Monkfish. Both is us had lamb, with lamb bacon. Everybite delicious. Constant changing of silverware, etc. Dessert yummy.
Try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Best Boston Restaurant
Food was fantastic, service exceptional, and great ambience! The restaurant paid attention to our special request, which we are very grateful since it meant we got to meet the chef!

Food was phenomenal, wine was wonderfully paired, every expectation was exceeded.

one of the best!
A fantastic restaurant that takes dining to the ultimate! Everything about the restaurant is wonderful! On all levels, the restaurant aims to give each diner a phenomenal dining experience. I have a wheat gluten allergy and special breads were prepared and the biscuit i had was the best one I've ever tasted. Each and every course was carefully prepared along with various treats throughout. An absolutely phenomenal dining experience!!

Fabulous Haute Cuisine
Menton is one of Boston's best restaurants which earned 4 stars right out of the gate. This is a first class experience providing seamless service as they present two fixed prix menus that will linger in your memory long after the meal is done.
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
A friend (who is a discerning diner who's eaten in fine restaurants all over the world) and I had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. It was a meal to remember. We agreed that Kristen Kish is that rare Chef who can create courses that are not only works of art in their own right, but also build on the flavors of the prior courses, with the result nothing short of spectacular. Menton's service team is also excellent in how they add to the overall experience. The servers explained the dishes and the wines and answered all our questions without being stuffy. Barbara Lynch has put together a fabulous team.

Even Iowans are comfortable
My daughter and I ate here. As Midwesterners we find many great restaurants make us uncomfortable. At the Herb Farm in Seattle we were sneered at by the wait staff as we asked questions that identified us as novice foodies. Though we have learned, we still ask questions. Menton was amazing in its food and staff. As we watched the tables around us it seemed the staff were able to match their level of attention and engagement to the table.
The food was absolutely fantastic! For two of us with wine and the cheese course it was $300. Money well spent. We did get the added cheese course which is $6 per cheese sampling-fantastic! Again we have no regrets except we should have gotten more types if cheese to try!

The choices for the 4 course
The choices for the 4 course prix fixe menu are very appealing - we had difficulty choosing which of the 4 options to order for each course. For the first course, I got the arctic char crudo, which was larger pieces than I am used to, but with a delicious lemon foam. My sister had the baby octopus, which was unfortunately quite tough. I had the monkfish next with a tandoori spice, which was delicious but very slightly under salted. My sister had the halibut, which was delicious. I had the chicken done two ways - breast was cooked perfectly, the roulade of thigh meat was overpowered by sage. My sister had the beef, which she said was delicious, if slightly under temperature. Chocolate and pumpkin desserts were delicious.

Elegance without snootiness
WE chose the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. Expensive but it was a special occasion. The experience was one of joy as the food was delicious (and a tad more than we could finish), the wine excellent, and the wait staff smiling and eager to engage in talk at our discretion. Plenty of room between tables that allows for private conversation at low volume without excessive ambient noise. A truly wonderful experience for that special occasion when price is no object. A NY dining experience (think Per Se) for half the cost.

My Best restaurant in the US
We are french and have been eating in a lot of very good restaurants in france and other countries.
I really want to thanks for the experience we had a cupel of days ago.
Service was perfect, food outstanding and the place is very nice.
Don t expect huge portions and you can even take the tasting menu without feeling too loaded at the end.

My wife and I celebrated a special occasion at Menton. We ordered to Chef's tasting which was many small courses with a few large courses sprinkled in with somewhere around 8 or 9 wine pairings. The food came at a steady and delicious pace and when there were time gaps bread was interjected to keep something on our plates. The wine pairings were explained and the service in general was warm and excellent. The food ranged from very good to amazing. This is no doubt an expensive meal but time and money well spent.

Menton Was Fun to Try
Invited my husband to Menton for his birthday... Best of Boston, Best Food, Best Service, the first in Boston to get Relais & Chateaux, etc. and interesting young chef Kirsten Kish. The food was good and the service excellent. It wasn't even "that" pricey, considering... but why not over-the-top fabulous? Mainly, it's precious for my taste (though not as bad as L'Espalier with its pomegranate fruit leather and S'mores)... too many mini-foods, dabs of foam, explanations. I am a knowledgeable foodie who loves food! I prefer a MEAL I can enjoy... a few delicious dishes to savor for more than one bite, over tiny bits of everything edible on the planet. Good for a special occasion, once (or twice?) Value proposition not for moi.

What a special restaurant! Never before have I been to not just a great food restaurant, but one with the best staff; each was upbeat, friendly, ridiculously accommodating, happy and perfectly trained in the art of service. Never rushed, yet perfectly timed, our prix fixe meal lingered for 2-1/2 hours, paced intuitively by the staff. Fabulous food presentation, delicious delicacies, my taste buds tingled throughout this gourmet journey. Plump oversized seating and tables, and although our conversation was private we felt that the environment was lively, with nearly as many staff as diners. Incredibly wine list too. I cannot say enough good things about Menton. A true gem.

Service at its best
You can expect nothing but the highest quality service at Menton.

Best Meal in 5 Years
Menton exceeded all of my expectations - amazing food, professional and friendly service, wonderful atmosphere. The food was sublime from the first dish to the last. The true mark of a fine restaurant - the service was professional, refined but friendly and welcoming - no snootiness here despite the fine surroundings and high end food. Loved it, can't wait to get back.

Master at work
As a colleague (although never owned a restaurant - only cook at home) I realize the difference between Good, Excellent, and Inspiring. Menton is inspiring, and if I ever wanted to own a restaurant it would be like this. Every dish had perfect attention to detail. The baby roasted beets and its dressing were fantastic, the Monk fish cooked to perfection, and the Venison was great too. Inspiring food accompanied by an attentive and friendly staff, you cannot go wrong. And for those who are afraid of the price, oh well Quality has its price. I say go a few times less but go right. I have a couple of favorite places in Boston, but Menton jumped to the top of my list, and that is thanks to the high creativity and quality of the chef.
11/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had heard that Menton was a real treat, and it didn't disappoint. The food was beautifully prepared, delicious, and unusual. Portions were small but there were so many of them, we felt full by the end of the meal. The service was terrific. We had wine and drinks, so spent more for a meal than I ever have before, but it was memorable in every way.

Emperor's New Clothes
The food was good and no complaints really, but nothing outstanding. Portions very small leaving one wanting for more to some extent.
Far too expensive but perhaps we are paying for being so attended to by the stellar staff.
I felt slightly unfulfilled.
11/28/2013 4:00:00 PM
I had high expectations for Menton and it far surpassed them. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. My recommendation is to do the truffle course - it was my first time trying truffles and I was blown away.
The price point for Menton is high but it is worth every penny!

My wife and I are avid foodies.
My wife and I are avid foodies. This restaurant had everything. From the moment we arrive we were greater by an sharp and friendly gentleman in a cool bow tie. He escorted us to a very comfortable sitting area to enjoy a stellar glass of white wine and a perfectly shaken martini. After being escorted to our table the service, skill and quantity stayed a the highest of levels we have ever experienced in Boston. John our main server, one out of about fifteen people that we interacted with, suggested a fabulous Pinot noir from France and the sommelier came over and was kind, pleasant and very knowledgeable. Dinner was exquisite my wife and I shared tastes, laughs and romance and we will definitely come back to Menton to enjoy once again.

Outstanding in every way
Michelin star reviewers apparently haven't visited Boston yet because this restaurant deserves a star! It was outstanding all around; service was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Four of us chose to order the 4-course prix fixe menu with wine pairings. The server described every detail and nuance of each dish and the wine accompanying it. Each plate was artistically arranged and a beautiful variety of flavors. Besides the 4 courses, we were presented with 3 different plates of amuse bouche, and glasses of champagne to celebrate birthdays. The desserts were accompanied by lit candles and names written in chocolate on the plate for the birthdays. This is an expensive evening but worth it for a special occasion.
