one of the best in Portland
In a city that has better food than any, this is one of the best places to eat. The menu rotates constantly. The dishes are interesting and innovative. The staff is always super friendly. I've been here a half dozen times and my esteem for The Park Kitchen only increases. To put one truly excellent plate on the table is something. But to put *eight* of them in a row? Bravo.

Go soon & return often.
Everything about the evening was outstanding. The service was excellent, a great example of team service. The cocktails were well made and delivered timely. We had several of the small plates and left the table very full. The butter is amazing and made in house! Served with house-made crackers & Ken's bread, it is amazing. We started with the cucumber soup, which was inventive & refreshing, and a fava/arugula salad, which was very tasty. My spouse had the mushroom custard and loved it. I had the fettuccine with lamb ragu and a salad with little gem lettuce, house-cured bacon and strawberries. Delicious. We finished with the chocolate tarte, which is truly amazing. Plus, they support the Chinese Garden, more evidence of being local.

Party of 5 and we all ordered the large & small plates tasting menu. A delicious sampling of the menu, however, sometimes portions were small because there were 5 of us sharing. Fava beans, croutons, & pistachios with pesto was my favorite, along with the large plate blackened salmon--very fresh and perfectly cooked. My husband (a chef) loved the pork sausage & beet salad. We agree that the chocolate tart with salted caramel sauce & some kind of delicious ice cream was an amazing dessert--rich chocolate, smooth texture, and perfect moistness. Our friends from out of town (all from major cities with food scenes) were impressed and we had a lot of fun. Service was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable.

10 years and going strong
Park Kitchen is ten years old, but the menus are from yesterday. Local ingredients combined in the most imaginative ways. Friendly, helpful staff and a beautiful location on the North Park Blocks. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we stayed for nearly three hours.

Second Sunday #46
Outstanding technical bar and Knowledgeable bar staff. Great signature cocktails. Park Kitchen really shines at bar food. Unique and original starters. We never made it to the regular menu. A little spendy but well worth it. The open kitchen was very interesting.
We really enjoyed the evening.
7/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
The berry custard desert was among the best deserts I have had.
Cherry salad also imaginative and yummy.

Fair Food, Good Experience
The food was pretty good, but not spectacular as we had hoped. It certainly wasn't bad food, but not all that memorable either. The service and pacing were outstanding. Good, if overpriced wine list. For what we spent I'd have expected more, and there are definitely places in town where there is better food for the price. We would go again on someone else's tab.

This restaurant is a true gem and has a very nice farm-to-table feeling about it.

One of our favorites
This was our second visit and once again, it did not disappoint. We did the tasting menu this time and everything was exceptional and we had more than enough food. The staff is always wonderful and the bar makes some of the best drinks in Portland. We will be back, again and again....

They always seem to have a different delivery of a common dish. Today, it was roasted beets. Normally, the beets come with goat cheese and some type of green. In this case, they combine a little yogurt, wild rice, and pistachios to create a delicious presentation. We also had the cucumber soup (again) and the fried green beans, which were as good as the first time we had them. I ordered the blackened king salmon, which was not overly spicy, yet still conveyed earthiness to the dish. As always, the bread service is worth paying for, as the house made butter is magnificent!

Awesome - totally recommend
Amazing food, interesting menu, great hospitality, great drinks

Tasting menu was great; just
Tasting menu was great; just a bit off the beaten "Pearl District" path, but everything works well here. Fresh ingredients done very nicely.

Park Blocks Delight
We were really pleased with our experience at Park Kitchen. We went for Happy Hour and found their HH menu to be varied and reasonable. The portions were generous and the drinks were also great. We had Negroni's and they were made just like they are in Italy. We will be going back, for sure. Can't wait to try their main menu items. We saw a few dishes come out for other guests and they looked amazing.

A lovely celebration
Food and service very good. They were very accommodating with our wanting to try lots of offerings. Everything was so flavorful and beautifully presented.

Excellent food. But you'll get more for your buck in other similar restaurants

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Can trust the chef... everything was amazing! Thanks.

Everything about Park Kitchen is fantastic--the service (knowledgeable, friendly and unobtrusive); the food (fresh, flavorful, interesting); the ambience (warm, modern, fun). The tasting menu is the way to go--all of the servers were extremely well-informed and recommended great wines to go with our food. I would recommend Park Kitchen to anyone for a quick bite before a Blazers game to a romantic anniversary meal with all the trimmings.

This was the dining experience
This was the dining experience of the year. It is every time we dine there. The eclectic and fantastic small plates menu (we ate from a small plates tasting menu) served a series of creative and perfectly balanced dishes. Eacgh was wonderful.
Wait staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.
We sat just inside an open bay door that on a warm summer evening was a grand location.
I heartily and unconditionally endorse and recommend this reatuarant. Truly a gem on the Portland scene.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
summer evening gem
We ate outdoors on a gorgeous summer evening. The street was quiet, as we like it for conversation. Three of us shared small plates. The food was excellent. We particularly recommend the cold flank steak salad and the batter fried green beans.
8/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great tasting menu
I recently arranged a business dinner to recruit a new employee. We shared the small and large plate tasting menu. The food was innovative, well presented, and most important- tasted great. Very nice restaurant. Excellent service. Great experience.
8/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Park Kitchen was the best restaurant we experienced in Portland, and we went to a number of highly rated restaurants. Order the chef's choices with small plates and entree. You won't be disappointed.

2nd Wedding Anniversary
We were so impressed the for our first wedding anniversary, we thought to make another reservation for our second. We were still amazed at the service, food and scenery. We recommend this place to everyone we know, who are making a little trip to Portland from Seattle. The flank steak was superb, the salt cod fritters reminded me of my girlf'riend's mom's - delicious.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
I took my wife to Park Kitchen for our anniversary. We also included our 11 yr old son. Mixing some small plates and large plates, we were able to try many different dishes and leave content. All of the dishes had complex flavors and twists we really enjoyed. The dish of the night was our son's choice of the special, baby-back ribs, that were braised for four hours and served off the bone (albeit on top of a warmed bone). My son requested this be on the regular menu and Park Kitchen is considering it. Along with some interesting cocktails (I really liked the Salt and Pepper martini) made for a very nice evening.
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food lived up to (high) expectations! Service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. We did the small/large plate tasting menu, allowing the chef to pick the plates and weren't disappointed. We failed to mention a dietary restriction (our fault) but they quickly accommodated us.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
just enjoyed a delicious, beautiful dinner at this gem

Foodie Secret Gem in NW PDX
Always outstanding dining creative entrees and starters..desserts too. Very professional, friendly and attentive staff, excellent wine list . Pretty view of the park across the street...a must for anyone who truly appreciates great food and wine in a city neighborhood restaurant that is unassuming, cozy and cheerful with a true pacific northwest atmosphere.
I hadn't been in a bit due to travel and well, such a plethora of fantastic restaurants now in Portland but Park Kitchen is truly a consistent stand out and a always hits the apex every time.
BTW, I mentioned that I was vegan when making the reservations and sure enough the chef had prepared a special entree for me that was incredible!
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been here for a few group dinners and this last time took some clients here. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was fantastic. Thanks!
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I went here to for dinner and to celebrate our 5 year Wedding Anniversary. We had a fabulous time! Service was awesome and attentive. Food was phenomenal!
We did the small and large plate tasting menu and loved everything. We are not picky eaters, so we always have a hard time deciding on what to choose. This tasting menu let us kick back and just enjoy the surprise of what is to come next. We will definitely return and reccommend Park Kitchen!
Thanks for a great night out!
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I dined here on the recommendation of an acquaintance. It was amazing! We took the waitress' recommendation and chose the prix fixe chef's menu. Not only was it a bargain for the price, the food was spectacular. We had 6 courses followed by 3 dessert offerings. Each course was sublime. All of the menu is farm to table and dishes used the freshest ingredients. We started with a corn soup featuring clams that was so sweet and so fresh, followed with a feekeh, apples and chanterelle salad-- most refreshing, salt cod cakes with malt vinegar and a pork ragu. I can't begin to describe how good it was, but it was followed by an albacore dish and and a lamb dish, both amazing. Service was excellent, helpful and low-key.

Inventive and tasty food
We had another wonderful dinner at Park Kitchen. The many different, small dishes were great. And a very nice wine list. Check th out!

cool aid house
When I was growing up there was this big Italian family where the grand parents lived with there family. We called it the cool aid house because when we played there the grand parents would bring us out snacks an cool aid. They had a huge house with a black board you would wright your name on if you were staying for dinner. Huge palates of all kinds of diffrent foods. As a child it was a wonderful adventure. Park kitchen was able to take me back there. The sound of basket ball being played in the park the open patio bar reminds me of the huge porch. The food here is amazing I really liked the fried green beans with a wonderful tarragon mayonase that reminds me of a hollandaise sauce. Service was excellent will return with more friends.
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
great small plates
We went with the small plates tasting menu. Every dish was a delightful surprise. The staff was attentive and fun to chat with. The bar and the wine list were both intriguing.
we'll definitely come back when we're next in town.

Our 30 year anniversary
Made our reservations for Tues., Sept. 17th - 6PM. We arrived a few minutes late, but had no problem getting in, probably because it was a Tues. We were looking forward to the Tasters (Chefs) Menu and was not disappointed. We had mentioned, to our fabulous waitress, at the beginning of our evening, that we were celebrating a special occasion - our 30 yr anniversary. She took our drink order and promptly came back with two glasses of champagne to make a toast. It was an unexpected surprise, and made our evening even more special. She talked us through our options and explained each dish as it arrived. She was extremely attentive, engaged in conversation and made the evening a special dining experience for both of us. We will be back!

Fun Tasting Menu
We really enjoyed the 'chef's choice' tasting menu. It was a fun way to try a variety of things and made for a great date! Excellent service and fun drinks.

Great friend outing
I was meeting up with about ten old friends and we needed a place that could accommodate us all at a big table, which Park Kitchen could do. We ordered the tasting menu, and because we mentioned we had a couple of vegetarians they slanted the menu in their direction, with a lot of vegetable-heavy small plates. It seemed like the food would never stop coming which was thrilling, and all of it very lovely. The out-of-town contingent were greatly impressed by the Portlandian combination of luxury and informality. Great success.

What a fabulous place! Everything was wonderful, but my husbands Albacore tuna was absolutely phenomenal!
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, Great Menu
A different selection of food than your typical place. I'm a picky eater and I was very pleased with the choices I had. Betwwen the small plates (both hot & cold) and large plates, my wife & I had some great dishes. One I really enjoyed was the Beet Salad. My wife thought she disliked Beets, no more. The staff was attentive & knowledgeable.
Parking was easy on the street.
Will be a return customer.

Park Kitchen never disappoints.
Park Kitchen never disappoints. Went for my Dad's 70th birthday and were blown away by every dish. Thanks Park Kitchen!
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Downtown location but the restaurant possesses a welcoming neighborhood feel. Our food from small plate appetizers through entrees to dessert was inspired and well-executed. The waitress had an informed familiarity with the wine list and made several excellent suggestions along the way. I had eaten there once previously by myself as an out of town solitary diner without a reservation. I was pleased to return with more of my family to celebrate my daughter's 26th birthday. A vibrant satisfying evening.
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Came here for my 27th birthday romantic dinner. Top notch food served by people who clearly cared and took pride in it. We did a small plate tasting and a small + large plate tasting. Be warned, "small" is a misnomer. Portions were unbelievably generous, with solid and well-balanced flavors in every bite. The chocolate tart could replace a lover. I've never eaten fresher goat cheese in my life. I just loved this place!
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Every time that we go to Park Kitchen, I come away wanting to (attempt) replicate the dishes. (Sadly, I cannot.) The food is really remarkable. We started with a salad of soft egg, ham and lentils, plus an endive soup with bay shrimp. We then had the cornmeal pasta with pork ragu. We also had a farro salad with radicchio, chicory & apple. All of these were excellent in terms of taste & mouth feel.
10/27/2013 5:00:00 PM
Very inventive food
Not a large menu it offers small and large plates. The food however, is very inventive and tasty. Great place to share several different dishes. Well rounded wine list and creative cocktails.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
I have to admit that we returned to try the squid stuffed with short ribs. That alone was worth the return! We also had the beet salad, which continues a long run of inventive combinations. (This one included roasted peppers that added a nice spiciness.) We also tried the parsnip soup with almonds and fried capers, which were superb. As always the Ken's bread with house made butter is a must order.
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
Wowed the out of town visitor
We started with the chickpea fries with pumpkin ketchup, a sure-fire winner, and went on to the tasting menu. ABsolutely fabulous from start to finish.
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
park kitchen is scrumptious
Two couples recently shared three small hot plates of food, including gluten free options, and these were superb. Our main courses were also good, including pork, beef, and fish dishes. Service was attentive. Drinks were outstanding. Only negatives were that we sat at a table by the door, and cold wind gusts froze us every time someone came in or out -- don't sit there! And the fish main course was well-prepared and tasty but bland -- a little zest or zing would help this dish. Otherwise, we'll be back.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Delicious food and cocktails!
I would definitely return and try more appetizers and cocktails. The cauliflower ravioli, brussels sprouts (with crispy rice) and chickpea fries were delicious appys. I also loved the rose city rosemary cocktail (if you are into sweet and citrus cocktails). The short rib wasn't fully melt in your mouth, but the sable fish main was unmatched. Service was a tiny bit slow but the servers were friendly and just wonderful at describing dishes and helping us choose!
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
pinot noir 'on tap', brussel sprouts with a horseradish sauce, 'chowder' with a silky braised black cod and a shallow pool of clams, chiles, bacon--and finally a thin 'panna cotta' layered with pears covered with bourbon gelee. innovative, beautifully executed, satisfying--thanks park kitchen!

Not your everyday walk in the park
We enjoy dining at Park Kitchen for the creative menu items. The combinations of local, seasonal ingredients is a real treat for the taste buds. We especially enjoy sharing the tasting menus when with a group of four or more, as the variety is quite amazing. The recent dinner included chickpea flour fries with pumpkin catsup, yum! The matsutake was daring outside of a Japanese restaurant. I could go on, but you get the picture. If you want to try something that your Mom never made for dinner, this is a good option.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
probably been here a half dozen times. Food is always amazing and had a great affordable red wine "on tap". The chickpea fries and flank steak with blue cheese are must-haves. We shared three small plates and one large plate. Plenty of food for two. Will be back.
11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
we did the tasting menu and
we did the tasting menu and let the staff pick the dishes. It was easy, stress-free and each dish was better than the last.
