We've eaten at I Sodi several
We've eaten at I Sodi several times now, and have never been anything except very pleased. A very thoughtfully put together and sophisticated menu, and without exception everything we've eaten has been more than just very good.

Charm of a restaurant, with few tables, eat at the bar for a treat. Ravioli with butter and sage super, steak tartare excellent and well prepared. Broiled chicken under a brick delicious. Excellent drinks and wine. Adam and Raymond bartenders sweet and attentive. Can't beat the food, reservations a must.

The fried artichoke appetizer was excellent, as was the panna cotta dessert.
The pasta was refreshiningly al dente - perfect!

Lovely neighborhood feel
True Italian and cosy. Heard about I Sodi from a food editor and tried to get a table my last trip. Not the easiest task as it´s popular. You need to book in advance, if you're aiming at 7 pm for dinner. This time I made a reservation before my trip. I was the first guest at 5,30, but not for long. The place filled up quickly with locals and small groups of people who enjoy this little pearl in West Village.
The service from our Swedish waiter (funny enough since I'm from Sweden) was excellent and I could see that he was equally attentive to his other guests. We had two delicious pasta dishes, with fried artichoke and great wine. Very nice atmosphere and it´s easy to understand why regulars keep coming back. I will be back also next time!

A wonderfully comfortable
A wonderfully comfortable venue with great good and service.

Mr Cool recommended it to us
A much younger friend of ours who knows the NYC scene pretty well recommended this restaurant. AS we were staying in the area it made sense to try it but given it small capacity, it was difficult to get a booking.
The Cacio & Pepe can be recommende and the Carpaccio Manzo. Despite the range fo drinks at the bar, they couldn't provide a Belini and we had to ask a couple of times for our Kir Royale before it appeared. Overall an ok place but more neighbourbood rather than destination

Best eats in NY
Best food I ate the entire time I was in NY. Some of the best food I have ever eaten!!! Perfect blend of service, ambience, and tasty, simple, FOOD I have had the pleasure of enjoying in a long time.

Great food at a great price
We really enjoyed our evening. The food was great and the half servings of pasta were perfect - all for a very reasonable price.

Phenomenal restaurant on every level. Spaghetti with cracked black pepper and pecorino cheese might be the best pasta dish I've ever had.

We were visiting from Australia for 10 days and looking for somewhere small an intimate to dine. We were only able to secure an early booking, which suited us fine. We were the first to arrive so it was a little quiet, however that soon changed when other tables arrived. The service was impeccable and pre-dinner cocktails were extremely well mixed. FIVE Negronis to choose from was my husband's dream! All of the dishes we chose were flawless. The lasagna was the best I have tasted, and with 24 thin layers I was in heaven! We had a quick after dinner drink at the bar to finish and it was a perfect ending to the best meal we had in NYC, thanks to the recommendation of friend who lives there.

Best lasagna ever!
The artichoke lasagna was a dream come true. The slimmest layer of pasta I've ever seen.
We had also the spaghettini with pepper and for main dishes, the new york strip and the rabbit. All of the dishes were exquisite, and dinner was one of the best.

A bit of Italy in the West Village
Our second time at I Sodi was as good as the first. Our waiter, Chris, was personable and knowledgeable and helped make the experience extra enjoyable. Four of us shared an antipasto which was the perfect size at Chris' suggestion. The meats & cheeses were fresh and delicious. We shared pastas for the main course and added the special canolli beans as well. The lasagna tasted exactly like that in Italy; nothing like the red sauce creation we have here. The spaghetti with black pepper was outstanding as was the ravioli with sage and butter. We had these two dishes before and loved them as much the second time. Risotto was tasty and perfect texture. Orange tart was good but so tiny! Wine was delicious. Service was impeccable. A winner!

Lovely, well prepared Italian food
I Sodi was the perfect spot for a pre-theater dinner. The pastas were divine, and the fried artichokes were the best thing we've ever eaten! Very nice, approachable wine list. Super friendly staff and a very comfortable space.

Best lasagna on the planet!

Just spent a weekend exploring Greenwich Village and was pleased to find this neighborhood gem. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. Had a wonderful night -- highly recommend.

I Sodi is best kept secret
We love this place. The food is fresh. The place is intimate. The service is stellar, especially Chris. Get off the beaten path and eat here. You will love it.

I Sodi... I ncredible!
I am fortunate to visit NYC annually and never miss the chance to eat at I Sodi. NYC is full of GREAT restaurants. This is my favourite. The food is spectacular... service (Chris was the head server last Sunday evening) was ourstanding. The flavours are a mind blowing delight! Do not miss the opportunity. Reserve today.

Authentic Tuscan Restaurant
It's all about the great quality of the ingredients. Excellent extra virgin oil of oil, home made pasta and desserts. Great wine list (even if a bit overpriced).
7/20/2013 5:00:00 PM
First time! Food, Service and Ambience were amazing! Can't wait to go back!
7/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Never disappointing! Food and service always great!

Good things come in small packages
This tiny restaurant is a gem. While the food is wonderful, most definitely not your standard Italian fare, the service is above and beyond. They don't take their patrons for granted, and they treat everyone so kindly - whether a regular or a newbie. find an extra seat for a last minute addition to our 2 person party, which is no small feat in a restaurant of this size. Every wine by the glass is a winner too. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about I Sodi, except that you must book several days advance at a minimum.
7/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
I walked past it three times, no sign or address on
The door. Almost missed the door.
Great authentic food.
It's very loud.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
I very much enjoyed my first meal at I Sodi. The atmosphere was romantic and low-key, and the food was excellent!
7/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
NICE PLACE TO EAT
Food is always superb and the service is A-One. The food is exactly as ordered and the staff could not be more helpful if you are
allergic to a food or spice.

I Sodi has never failed to perform. This visit we sat at the bar. The staff here is excellent. They are knowledgeable, present and not overbearing. We split two three appetizers, two pastas and two desserts. The lasagna is consistently perfect, ravioli was rich and flavorful, zucchini carpaccio was light and drizzled with fresh pressed olive oil. We've been here several times and love the consistent great food and treatment!
8/5/2013 5:00:00 PM
I've often avoided lasagna, even in the most touted Italian restaurants, because it usually turns out to be a heavy dish. I was spurred to go against my habit at I Sodi because the menu proposed Artichoke Lasagna... that would be a tasty combo ! Sadly, on the evening i visited, the artichoke version was not being served. I opted for the meat sauce lasagna. My standard for this dish was already quite high, because I've enjoyed a masterpiece of melt-in-your-mouth lasagna handmade by a friend's grandmother, the expert of nearly transparent noodles.
I can only say that maybe my friend's grandmother has moved to I Sodi.
They served us melt-in-your-mouth noodles, savory meat sauce, slightly caramelized on top. The best lasagna.
8/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had been avoiding pasta for a couple of months and decided to break the good behavior for I Sodi. So glad I did. We loved the pasta so much we all ordered two half orders each! The sardines as an appetizer were excellent too. Great waiter with Chris from Vancouver, he knew his stuff. Would absolutely go back. It was fresh and fantastic!

Excellent West Village Italian
I Sodi is a very special restaurant. The space only seats a total of twenty-two diners or so plus a bar that seats another dozen or so walk-ins that opt to eat there. Dining at I Sodi is very special and one receives very personal, professional and very polite service. The menu is small and every dish is made-to-order. My wife and I enjoyed some pasta and their fresh fish dish and everything was perfect and delicious. We try to get to I Sodi a few times every year and we have never been disappointed. If you are looking for a very cute "West Village Type" restaurant that is intimate as well as romantic with excellent cuisine, then this is the spot for you.l
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, but loud
The food was terrific and prices very reasonable, but the noise level was brutal. We asked to be moved to a corner table half way through our meal and things improved. Buy a rug or put something on the wall to lessen the noise.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
I Sodi - Always delicious!
This little spot is a true gem and one of our favorites. Every single thing I've ever eaten there is delicious and the staff is knowledgeable, personable and will help guide you to the perfect wine to pair with the amazing menu offerings. Can't say enough good things about I Sodi. What are you waiting for...? Go!
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Unexpected gem in West Village
While I Sodi presents a very limited menu, every item we ordered exceeded expectations. The ability to order half orders of the pastas is a nice touch. Wait staff was friendly and efficient.

Great place in Village
First time here....a bit small and noisy, but food makes it worth it....tomato appetizer was perfect...homemade pastas were great and Cornish hen and Bronzino were very good! Would definitely recommend and come again!!!
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Always an Excellent Choice
Cannot say enough good things about this gem in the West Village.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
This tiny gem was marvelous food, limited menu yet hard to narrow ones choices. very seasonal but alas, no fried artichoke.

Best Italian in NYC, hands down
Simple, rustic, outstanding fare - the one spot I make a point to visit when I'm in NYC no matter what. Will always go back for the cacio e pepe, whether it's on the menu or not. Fried artichokes, and zucchini carpaccio with parmigiano. Heaven.
9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Branzino was the highlight of the meal, the risotto was delicious. Service was nice and attentive.
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great homemade pasta!
The food- mainly the homemade pasta- was de-lish! The combinations were different- yet simple. Which was a nice touch for the northern Italian fair. Would recommend to friends.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
never ate like this
whatever reason you have for eating out...this is something special. So ignore every argument for eating out and just go for the best food & service you can find in the Village and beyond. I Sodi is something else and worth waiting and looking for!!
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great find. Very small with less than 12 tables. Reservations are a must. The food and wines by the glass will not disappoint. Service was friendly and professional. We plan to return on our next trip to NYC. Bravo Ii sodi!
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
The menu is excellent. The choices are wonderfully balanced from appetizers through secondi. Excellent wine selection for nyones price and palette. Wxcellent service, helpful without being obtrusive.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

the food (2 different pastas) and service were great
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely little joint in Greenwich Village! Food was amazing and the vibe was robust. Everything was very fresh and decadent!
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Will definitely return
Food, wine and service are excellent. Buratta to start, truffle pasta (excellent), hen with kale side and then semi fredo to end. One star knocked off for a 20 minute wait for a table, the waiter knocking over my prosecco (it was replaced) and the semifreddo being rock hard. Otherwise a very good experience. Will definitely return.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Having heard for a long time
Having heard for a long time how good I Sodi is, we finally made it and now we know why so many love it. Know that it is super small with almost as many seats at the bar as on the floor. Limited menu and a few off menu specials (everything we ate was wonderful) plus fabulous Negronis and helpful efficient staff made for a special dining experience.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
A Greenwich Village find....
One of my favs in The Village.........so amazing, reasonably priced and imaginative from appetizers thru dessert. Great service too!
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Still dreaming About It
We sat at a romantic table by the window with Charlie as our stellar waiter!
Had luxurious spaghetti cacio y pepe and hubby had luscious and hearty chianti braised staccato beef! Started with a simple yet flavorful mache salad with balsamic and pecorino and ended with affogato. Combined with 2 glasses of perfectly paired wine, all was right with the world due to I Sodi! We shall happily return!
11/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great neighborhood spot
The negronis and pasta were excellent. The shortribs were way overcooked, but the rabbit was perfectly done, so a bit hit or miss with the secondi. Next time, we will just stick wtih the pasta.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Consistently one of the best
Consistently one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, especially if you love quality pasta dishes. The cacio e pepe is outstanding, and so is the service. It's hard to get a table, but you can sometimes get lucky with the bar.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great food and great service
the homemade pastas were outstanding and the pleasant waiter was helpful and attentive..not usual for someone to tell you you're ordering too much....even if you don't live in this area, it's worth the trip.....

West Village Favorite
Great little neighborhood restaurant. The menu is limited but everything is excellent and all made with fresh flavorful ingredients. I never get tired of the artichoke salad or the spaghetti with black pepper.
