Spectacular food and warm service
I have been going to Radius a few times a year since their opening. On every occasion, the food has been fantastic. Fresh, local and seasonal ingredients prepared in interesting ways. I never get bored with the menu which is always changing. Another thing that stands out about Radius is the service. Although, I only go there a few times a year, the waiter (french accent) remembers me and greets me with a welcome back.
The one thing to be aware of is that they have beer and wine only, no hard liquor.

Great for special occasions
We've been to Radius several times for special occasions and it's always been a fantastic experience!

Exceeded all expectations!
Exceeded all expectations! Comfortable, airy space, charming service, ice cold beer, and an A+ menu from first course to last. I'll definitely be coming back again and again. There are many nice Cal cuisine restaurants in SF, but Radius stands out for at least these dishes:
-bone marrow. One of the most flavorful, generous portions I've seen in SF
-pork chop. So tender, I wonder if it was sous vide? It was so big we had half left over, and it was still delicious the next day.
-lemon tart. WOW! Right up there with Tartine's lemon tart (maybe even superior?) Tart, smooth, and the perfect finish to a very satisfying(and very big!) dinner.

Great place with fresh local
Great place with fresh local food and Frederik is the best server around!

Had the fried chicken which
Had the fried chicken which was served over Brussels Sprouts with kabocha squash and and ham hock mince. First was the carrot soup and finished with the lemon tart. We started with a few other pieces - including the oysters and the pea and carrot salad - which really bore out the local flavors. Everything was wonderfully flavored with just the right amount of uniqueness to each dish. The wine list was good, wish there were cocktails! Our second bottle was a Pleiades by Sean Thackery, a wine we have frequently - it had an off sulfur smell which fortunately dissipated after 15 minutes. Would definitely return. The prix fixe menu was an good value at $40.

One of the better restaurants
One of the better restaurants in SF that few have tried.

I've passed this place many times without considering it, but this time it was a convenient location to meet a good friend for dinner. There is a nice ambiance, but it gets VERY LOUD with only half the restaurant filled. Carrying on a conversation is difficult. The lamb shoulder was cooked to perfection, and the pork chop was good but not notable. The wine list is decent with extremely reasonable full bottle prices. Both of us would definitely eat at Radius again, but either earlier or later to avoid the roar of the crowd. ;-)

Gem I didn't know existed
I have no idea if anyone knows about htis place, and it is in a random spot without much press as far as I know. It is absolutely worth a try. The service we had was really great, she was knowledgable about the menu and very helpful. Food was beautiful and delicious. I can't say enough about how surprised I was that I'd never heard of this place. Try the chicken, it was delicoius. But basically everything we had was very good. I'll go back. I don't usually write reviews that just rave, but this place deserves it.

The cheese plate is a good
The cheese plate is a good choice to start off with. Or even the bone marrow. This restaurant uses a touch of sweetness in each entree dish to find a balance between the salt and savory. Some people may like this and others not, watch out.

Love Dem Beans
My friends and I checked out Radius after having seen it featured on Check Please. The desserts especially looked enticing.
We were warmly received and our server was delightful, attentive and competent.
The duck mousse was a great starter.
HIghlights were the main courses. The pork chop was cooked to order- quite pink and JUICY! The beef bavette was also properly rare and tasty. The lamb shoulder was a bit overcooked to my taste.
But the butterbeans stole the show! I don't know what they cook with them but everyone kept stealing them off my plate. Unique and memorable they were.
The much anticipated chocolate pave was off the menu, alas. The milkshake was awesome however.
Definitely worth your time and appetite to visit here.

Radius radiants with great food
After seeing Radius featured on Check Please Bay Area my friend and I were really looking forward to our first visit to Radius. It did not disappoint. The food was great, as was the service. Radius prides itself on its locally sourced ingredients and lists all the purveyors and distance from SF. My companion started with the sardines - which she loved. For her entree she had McFarland Springs Trout. Normally I don't care for trout , but this was excellent. I opted for the pork belly and clams- a perfect blend of flavors., and the Pork Chop as an entree. The pork chop was one of the best I've ever had. perfectly cooked and the accompanying sauce SUPERB! We split the lemon curd tart for dessert, which was heavenly. Great place!!

Very nice restaurant with excellent dishes. Every dish has a nice unique signature twist. Some of the pairings within the dishes seemed unusual at first but made a lot of sense on the palate. The one that comes to mind is the cream cheese with asparagus and green strawberries. The affect on you taste buds was refreshing, bright, and memorable.

Best in a long time
I came here with my boyfriend and parents during Dine About Town. We made a point to order different dishes so that we could share and try more things. Every single dish was delicious -- soup, salad, entres, and finally the desserts. We eat out a few times a week, not infrequently at nice places, and we both decided this was the best dining experience we've had in recent memory. I was mostly amazed that there was not a line down the block! But that probably is mostly due to location.
I try to make a point not to repeat restaurants, since there are so many I still haven't tried, but I plan to make an exception for Radius... probably many times.

Great Food -- Very Long Meal
Had fantastic food here with some friends. Our favorite was the gnocci, which was extremely unique. The desserts are also not to be missed.
The service on the other hand was terrible. Our waiter disappeared for long stretches between courses. We had to ask several people for our bill before it arrived 20 minutes later, in a near-empty restaurant. The poor service likely added at least an hour to our meal.

Great food, mediocre service
The food was AMAZING. The oysters were a bit on the smaller side, but had amazing flavor. The service, however, was a bit slow and although our table had 12 people, it took almost 20 minutes after we were sat down to put in an order for a few bottles of wine. In any case, the quality of the food makes up for this. It happened to be Dine About Town the same week and I had the tomato soup, trout and lemon curd tart; all of which were superb. I would highly recommend this place for any special occasion, wheter a team dinner or romantic meal. Great restaurant!

Great, refined SOMA gem
We always drive by Radius and say we should eat there. Well, we finally went the other night and took advantage of the prix fixe Dine About Town 3 course menu.
The carrot soup was delicious and the presentation - the waiter places a bowl with a scoop of creme fraiche in front of you and then pours the soup around the creme fraiche was awesome.
The pork chop was fantastic as was the trout. Highly recommend both entrees. I preferred the lemon curd tart to the milkshake, but the cookies that come with the milkshake were very good.
Decor is simple and minimalist, but with a modern, elegant feel.
The bar (beer and wine only) is also very large and if you show up without a reservation, you can eat dinner at the bar.

Dine about town
What a good find.. Very good food & service. The fried chicken was delicious as was the lemon tart. It was hard to hear.

Radius was a hit
The food was fantastic and the service was great! Looking forward to going back!

We took my children and their grandparents for a celebratory dinner. The asparagus and green strawberries were a feast for the eye and a refreshing summer salad. Everyone enjoyed the food, including my kids who had seasonal carrot soup, oysters, clam and pork belly, and trout ceviche. These were appetizers, and were just right. My parents had a lamb tagine which was inspired. I had trout on a beet bed. The salty-crispy-sweet-soft was balanced and satisfying. My daughter raved about her olive oil milk shake. She thought of Humphrey Slocum--her favorite ice cream haunt. My lemon tart was tart enough, not too sweet. It my second time at Radius and I will return. It is an overlooked gem on busy Folsom Street.

I like this restaurant alot. The acoustics can make it difficult to talk.

Delicious and Fresh
I love to eat fish at restaurants, since I don't cook it well at home much. Most times I'm disappointed. The trout I had was crispy and luscious. The service was really attentive and friendly. Nice atmosphere, classy.

Delicious California cuisine
Can't rave enough about the fresh produce that is highlighted so well in all the dishes at Radius. The service was also genuinely friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back, so glad I found this place.

Authentic cheerful experience
Radius isn't about being seen at one of the "right places". It has truly well prepared food - cheerful competent service - and a
very reasonably priced wine list . We've been three times and will go back. Where else are you going to find a vanilla- olive oil milkshake?

yummy large group dinner
As a boisterous group of 12 in our own room, I can't really speak as much to the ambience/noise/service (all were fine), but the food was fantastic. Delicious bone marrow app, perfect cut of ribeye with an amazing cream glaze, and the few bites of the fried chicken i stole from my wife were what caused me to shout, "We need to come back." And we will.

This place is Awesome
Just loved the food and service here, it truly is not only a neighborhood gem, but a seriously fabulous restaurant, with top notch service. Check it out, I promise you will not be disappointed.

South of Market Winner!
Radius delivers exceptionally inspired food keeping true to their "within a 100 mile radius" pledge. The interior is a little stark, but that makes the food stand out even more. Great service, but be prepared for an above average noise level. If the place is packed, which it often is, it can be quite "energetic".

Great find thanks to new friends
We had a great dinner from start to finish.
Open table made making short notice reservations a breeze.
Radius is not just a great concept, it's a wonderful place to eat and watch people.
We had a wonderful mix sampling the entire menu: local cheeses, fried chicken, beet salad, butter beans with wilted dandelion leaves and paprika. I can't imagine that anything on the menu isn't delicious we left completely satiated!
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
I must thank the owner as he came by and introduced himself and ultimately his dedication to making sure everyone who eats there leaves happy. The food was very good and for the price it was a value as compared to some other places we experienced while we were in San Francisco. I would recommend this place and could see why someone would become a regular here.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, good service, however
Good food, good service, however it is a noise bomb-way too loud, nothing in the structure mitigates the noise. I hate that because it makes conversation almost impossible. Forget it for a romantic dinner unless you and your sweetie like to yell. Also, it was a very hot evening but they didn't choose to use the two ceiling fans, which made it quite uncomfortable. Loved the food though. Maybe we might come back on a slow night in winter.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent as always
Brought guests here for our third dinner at Radius and everyone loved everything -- we ordered cheeses for the table, and the beet salad, duck liver mousse and pork rillets for starters, and had the deconstructed fish and chips (with sturgeon), the steak, the lamb done Turkish style and the gnocchi, and every plate was a winner. The chef was kind enough to serve the gnocchi without pancetta for our vegetarian daughter. Our server was knowledgeable and professional -- never interrupted us too much, but was able to answer questions and help us with wine, etc. Lovely experience all around.

Seek and Ye Shall Find A Great Meal
Was in SF for a convention and searched for a "Farm to Fork" type restaurant. Somehow came across the Radius website. Glad that I did. Lovely little restaurant, all as advertised. They do very creative things with local veggies, meat and fish. Everything that came out of the kitchen was great. It's a little bit of a hike from the Moscone center, and a few sketchy blocks in between, so take a cab if that kind of thing bothers you.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Used a gilt city voucher for this visit for the three course meal. The soup was yummy and the pork chop was tender and delicious.

Good food and great service
We were visiting from Chicago, so we have great restaurants as well. We went for a friends birthday party and the food was good (not great). I would recommend the oysters, lamb, and mussels. I would say that the service was terrific. Our waitress and rest of staff was excellent and took very good care of us.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Every dish was interesting and flavors were outstanding. Sunchoke soup, beef tartare, pate, gnocchi, pork dish. Delicious dish of grits- unexpectedly creamy and richly flavored. Lemon tart and chocolate cake worth ordering. Service was friendly and efficient. My only knock, and this was very minor, is that our waitress was not well versed in the wine list. But we guessed and it worked out well- the list is somewhat limited, but what's on there has been carefully chosen.

What a Surprise!
Radius is a true gem! The food was some of the best in The City. Would return anytime.
11/18/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was wonderful and unusual. Several dishes we ordered, like the grits dish, were not particularly interesting on the menu, but in reality were creative and delicious. We didn't try the wine because we are not big fans of Californian wine and radius sources all their food and drinks from within 100 miles radius.

Downtown SF Dining
Wanted a new experience in downtown San Francisco and found it.
Walking to the Radius is no treat, given the surrounding area we went through ... but upon arrival, it was a nice spot.
Went on a Tuesday night, so the place wasn't that full but we had a nice dining experience.
Wait staff was very efficient and the food was very good.
I wouldn't put it as a 10 on the dining experiences but was very glad we went.
I'd say it's more in the 8 range but would recommend to friends.
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had dinner at Radius on Black Friday. Because of the holiday it was pretty quiet, although there were still a couple of other tables dining. The food was perfect, and the service lovely. We met some new friends and were talking so we weren't the easiest people to serve, plus we stayed after everyone else had left. Despite this, the staff were extremely patient and friendly, and made us feel welcome right up until closing time. The quality of the food and produce was excellent, would definitely come back if in town again.

Group dinner with diverse tastes
Server was patient as getting our group to all sit down was like herding cats. Very good menu selections for both food and drink. Everyone in our group enjoyed it. One person made a comment about how high the bill was, but he obviously doesn't get out much. There is an outside patio, would be nice to try in warmer weather. And don't forget to feel under the tables, was a fun bit of our evening's conversation.
