panache has panache
we had an excellent meal prepared and served expertly; I would recommend that diners call and check the menu the day before they dine because it changes frequently and while excellent is very small and special; It was an excellent dining experience and captured the ambiance and cuisine of Quebec

A consummate dining experience
My husband and I enjoy high end tasting menus with wine pairings. To say this surpassed every other experience we have had would be an understatement. This was a most imaginative, intriguing pairing of tastes, both within the food combinations and the wine pairings, not at all predictable but brilliant.
The service was equally Impeccible. You never waited for a course but were never rushed. The wait staff enjoyed describing the food, and the sommelier was passionate about the wines.
As can be expected, it is very pricey. But for a special occasion, or in our case the final evening of a wonderful trip to Quebec City, well worth it!

Quebec for romance
Creative food preparation served by attentive staff.

A delight for the adventurous diner
Great food, beautiful room and expert, friendly staff: a delight for the adventurous, committed diner. The food is exquisite, but very expensive and the menu offers little choice or much indication of preparation and flavours; for many it would be best to check the menu on the day you go. Even so, it's a resturant for adventure - and romance - a great highlight for visitors to Quebec!

Outstanding dinning experience!
This restaurant was already reputable thoughout Québec and we've experienced another reputable ones from Boulud in New York and Vancouver but this one tops it off for sure!!!
There is a cost though for excellence, and one must be advise to be able to pay at least 150$/ pers. But this was overall our very best restaurant experience EVER!
Service, sommelier and garçon de table, everything was terrific!
5/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food is great & service is very good. The restaurant is part of Relais and Chateau. The building is restored from the 17-18th century and it's gorgeous! Be prepared to drop some serious $$ for dinner...with drinks and dessert ...$275 before tip. I would definitely go back & recommend if you don't mind spending the $$. For appetizers we ordered the cauliflower & snow crab. Main course - scallops and lobster. Dessert - chocolate and maple. We also had breakfast there which was about $50. The maple crepes, amazing and so is the Panache. Service could have been a little more attentive. But, they were very friendly so we didn't mind. Some of the tables are a too close together which we didn't like but they gladly sat us where we wanted.

Very nice Sunday brunch
I made reservations for Sunday at 12:00 not realizing all they served at that time was brunch.
There were plenty of choices on the Brunch menu so it was fine for the four of us.
The table settings are beautiful and the ambience is very nice. It was not very busy the day we were there.
We ordered mimosas and we wanted to sit and relax a bit before ordering but the server kept coming
over and over trying to get us to order. She was very business like with few smiles.
The food was delicious. I had the salmon on potato waffles and there was enough to feed a family of four. The beef tartare
was very tasty but again enough to feed four people.
Overall it was a very nice experience and i would recommend it to others.

The best of Quebec
We ordered the tasting menu and the somalier was very helpful and a bit pushy. I ended up having 3 glasses of red with dinner and 2 different desert wines. The problem was that I don't eat fish and the chef said he was happy to accomodate me but instead of finding suitable substitutes while my wife had snow crab and scallop and fish i just got the same dishes without the protein. Even the waiter snickered/laughed under his breath when presenting my third course asparagus plate. I saw a bone marrow accompaniment at another table that went with a beef dish I didn't get to have and they did bring me that free of charge, but only because I asked specifically for it. The one meet I did have, veal, was dry. Still, best asparagus I've ever had.

Such a great place! Food is exceptional and the wine list amazing.
6/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Overall wonderful- a few mistakes
Loved the food-very inventive and delicious. Excellent presentation. Two small matters marred the experience. One of the wait staff was wearing heavy cologne- a no-no in a place where all the senses are to be used. Overpowered the wine and food when he was nearby. As well, the sommelier recommended an excellent bottle of wine, but he was mistaken in the grapes used. Minor inconviniences.

6/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
Enjoyed it but went in....
So the reason why a vancouverite knows about this place is because my francophone sister recommended it to me saying it's chateau relais level, meaning should have awesome food and atmosphere. So what I want to complain about is the dessert. It was some kind of chocolate cake in small tiny square pieces with maple crunch on top.accompanied by maple ice cream in tiny square pieces on the same plate. Nothing wow...I was looking forward to crème brûlée or something fancy. Totally disappointed :(

I whent to quebec city again just for this restaurant i. Is just amazing!!! Great culinary expirience

We enjoyed our dinner/dining
We enjoyed our dinner/dining experience at Panache. The service was very attentive and the staff was very knowledgeable of the food/menu. We arrived early and had a before dinner drink. The conversation with the bartender was pleasant and he went out of his way to track down a special Whiskey, and offered a tasting of it. He also became one of the server for our dinner. Again, very knowledgeable of the food and the preparations that were involved. We had the Duck dinner for two, and one had the beef dinner. The cheese plate was very enjoyable with the pear puree. The food portions and their presentations were appropriate.

Not up to the hype
I had heard great things about the restaurant but was disappointed in the experience overall. We had a great wine, suggested to us by the attentive and talented sommelier. The selection of Quebec cheeses and wine pairing were lovely. The smoked char was tasty but the garnishes only enhanced it slightly. The duck was well cooked and nicely paired with cranberry. The vegetables that accompanied the duck were in a separate jar and just seemed like steamed broccoli and snow peas and lacked any flavor. The amuse bouche was bland, all I could taste of the dairy was the tang, the radishes added color only. Finally, the temperature was so hot that my husband had to wipe sweat off his forehead. I would not recommend it to others going to Quebec.
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Menu changes every two weeks because the food is always in season. They don't have a freezer but a small ice box for ice cream. Absolutely delicious. We had the duck confit and lamb for brunch...huge portions of meat that just melted in our mouths. Also the best creme brûlée and cookies we have ever had.

Wonderful experience for our honeymoon. The chef even made us a special appetizer for our special celebration.

Great Ambiance and service
Panache was a fine restaurant. The only problem was that the halibut was over cooked and a bit salty. The fois gras was as good as it gets and they had a very unique way for preparing the cauliflower which was excellent.

We discoveres in Panache a gem for our future visits to Quebec/Isle d'Orleans : easy to reach from the island, very friendly, attentive and helpful staff, delicious food. And you let us tast the wine before ordering, which is very uncommon nowadays. Not to forget the helpful Valet Parking Attendant!
Will see you again soon.

Staff polite and attentive,
Staff polite and attentive, but border line "stuffy." Waitperson had good knowledge of menu. Meal nicely paced.
Menu a bit outré, but food well prepared and presented. Overal an enjoyable dining experience.

Brunch in Quebec
Panache is a very well established, fine dining establishment with an excellent reputation. I chose to go there for Sunday Brunch and was not disappointed. Excellent food, service and ambience. I did not have the opportunity to return for dinner, but the menu looked great and it will be on my to do list when I have a chance to return to Quebec.
7/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
best of Quebec City
Wow what a treat! I have had great food and service in my favorite city over the years. However on this visit we finally tried Panache and it was by far the best food I have had in Quebec city... Hi quality perfectly executed locally sourced food prepared with great finesse. A true must for any foodie visiting this lovely and romantic city.
7/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was delicious...ambience was great...wine list is amazing...great for a special occaision!
The only complaint (and not really a complaint) is that I would have liked a few more options on the menu. Sorry, there is one more, I thought the food was delicious, but I thought it was also a little over-priced.
I will be back if in the city again and celebrating another special occaision, however, I would select other options if just heading out for a night out for dinner.

Une expérience remarquable !
Super service, un des meilleurs que j'ai jamais eu! Personnel hors pairs! Même pour les enfants, ils trouveront un repas spécial a leurs offrir. J'y retournerai !

A beautiful night
We dined at Panache on the final night of our first trip to Quebec City. Every night we had a lovely dinner in each of the restaurants we had researched prior to our visit but they all lead to our exceptional dinner at Panache. It was truly memorable. Many thanks.

Panache at Panache
Food and wine were spectacular. The wait staff was attentive but never overbearing. The sommelier was one of the most knowledgeable we have ever encountered.
Menu selection was wonderful as were the preparation and presentation of the food itself.
A dining treat that we would go back to again and again.
A real gem.

We had a mixed experience
We had a mixed experience at this restaurant food wise. I had the artic char and it was perfect---crisp on the outside with a moist and tender inside. My husband had the steak and while he thoroughly enjoyed the flavors in the au jus, the steak itself was fairly tough. The accompanying sides were fine. The wine list, however, while offering good choices, is terribly overpriced! We own a highly rated wine bistro in the Washington, DC area, so we know our wines, both quality and price. We ate the previous night at a wonderful Italian restaurant that carried many of the same wines----and they were much more reasonably priced. We would probably eat at Panache again, but would love to see a more fairly priced wine list.

A Quebec City French Restaurant
Panache is an expensive but wonderful French restaurant that lies near the Old City of Quebec. We had an exceptional meal that was delivered with a professional flair only seen at high level restaurants. My wife and I both had Halibut for our entree and were not disappointed. The food was elegantly served at the right temperature and the service staff were right there when we needed them. The wine list is expensive due to the high taxes imposed by the government but we managed to fine a nice California Chardonnay that went well with our meal. We had a scrumptious desert of strawberries, ice cream and blueberries that was excellent. A rather expensive evening but for a special occasion worth every penny.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I enjoyed our dining experience at Panache very much. I did not like my tomato app (I found it hard to eat, one note and not a flavor I enjoyed) but everything else was fantastic. If you are dinning in QC all of the food is fantastic I'm not sure it's necessary to go this high end but we happy we did so anyway.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had high hopes for this restaurant, but my fiance and I were disappointed. The atmosphere was a bit pretentious and stuffy. The appetizer and amuse bouche were delicious, but we were both unhappy with the duck that we ordered for our main meal; it was tough to cut and eat. The dessert made a nice presentation, but it was nothing terribly special in terms of food. We have eaten at many fine restaurants in North America, and in Europe, and we were not impressed by this one. Overall, we did not think it was worth all the hype, and we would not return.

The food is king (or queen!)
This is the best restaurant I've been eating at. The food was delicate but so tasteful. You will be largely satisfied for your stomach and your lips will be dancing of joy.
9/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Amazing in every detail
Amazing. Easily as good as the best restaurant we have dined in from the beautiful space built in an old harbor side warehouse to the perfect service to the axing cuisine. The pictures speak for themselves. . .
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had dinner as well as breakfast at Panache several times while in Quebec City. Every time was wonderful! Dinner was outstanding...the setting, the food, service...everything!
And, breakfast is equally spectacular with a menu that would interest everyone! I loved the healthier choices served with an interesting and delicious twist and my husband enjoyed the more decadent French Toast and Crepes! The smoothies were the best we had ever had! We can't wait to go back!
These were the some of the best meals we have had in all of our travels!

Nice dining Experience
For a hotel restaurant, Panache is one of the best. Menu selections are a bit limited, but each is delicious and served attractively. The dining facility ......the ambience.....is wonderful! Huge beams, stone walls, a lovely fireplace. A quiet, relaxing evening.

Special place in Québec City
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Panache this weekend. Our cosy table by the fire was very romantic. The sommelier suggested an excellent Riesling and our food was outstanding. Expensive but worth it!

great special occasion
Had an excellent dinner. My husband is more adventurous so he really enjoyed the interesting menu. Service was excellent, wine pairings suggested, beautiful ambiance. Very pricey and wish that they didn't require whole table to do tasting menu, my husband would have done it but nothing sounded good to me and at the $$$$$ price I couldn't justify it.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
Romantic and stunning
Panache is a beautiful space with exposed wood beams and cozy booths. A fireplace in the center of the dining room adds additional warmth and ambience to the furnishings. Our wait staff were friendly and attentive. The meal began with a delicious amuse bouche of salmon and Brussel sprout leaves. So tasty along with the delicious bread assortment! Our appetizer of calamari was the only disappointment. It was too small of a portion for the price and the calamari were tough, perhaps overcooked. For our entrees, we had the two fish dishes and both were prepared perfectly. Quite a memorable experience in all!
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
Pricey for sure
A fantastic experience but not one to be entered lightly. Excellent food, wine and service but exorbitantly expensive.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nous avons très bien mangé et le vin était très bon. Nous recommandons ce restaurant sans hésiter!
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is the second year in a row my husband and I have eaten at Panache for our annual trip to Quebec for our anniversary. Amazing!

Great Ambiance - Very Romantic
Great restaurant for a romantic evening. The ambiance with the fireblace was very relaxing and great. The food was great as well. We had the foie gras (7/10), which was okay but not worth the $29, it was cold and I like it warm poelee. Then we had the duck for 2 (8/10) and for dessert we had the chocolat fondant (8/10) and the millefeuille (8/10). So in a nutshell, great restaurant but pricey! Since you go to a nice restaurant like this one for the experience, not just the food, overall I would recommend this restaurant.
- The number one thing that this restaurant has going for it is the ambiance!
- Food great (but nothing lengendary)
- Service was great - well paced, coat check, etc was all great.

Best Meal of Our Stay
This was our 3rd attempt at a nice dinner experience in Quebec City's old town...and the third was a charm! Enjoyed a drink first in the separate bar/lounge area which was quite charming and intimate. We found the dining area to be both visually pleasing as well as warm and romantic. The wait staff was attentive but not hovering. The meal was of nice proportion; not over-portioning or a meal in miniature or a fussy presentation. The taste profiles were creative without going too far out on a limb. We had a wonderful french lentil soup that was a nice thin puree with a small amount of whole lentils and a nice orange flavoring.
Our other 2 dinners were at Le Continental and Il Matto....just OK. Lunch at Le Lapin Saute was very nice as well!

Time to savor
No rush to move us beyond our cocktail or to get us to order or to finish a course. At these prices it is very nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the gorgeous setting and my husband and the really wonderful food. The whole experience is worth the price.

End of November.
A splendid experience. Great for walking or short taxi rides.
Only one disappointment - the Arctic Char on Saturday night was not as fresh as expected of such a fine restaurant.
The breakfasts were excellent,
The service was top notch and very friendly.

Very good service and a "somelier" with lot`s of interesting comments about history of wine. Very warm reception. I love that restaurant.
