very pleased about Panache
very pleased about Panache restaurant where food is not only very good and tasty but also pleasant to look at. Excellent place!

We chose this restaurant because
We chose this restaurant because of location by National Geography. It did not disappoint. Tapas were excellent--from zucchini to grilled calamari-- superbly presented and appropriate portions. However, one main course was excessively stingy on scallops.

outsourcing gone too far!
Love this place and go here frequently for work lunches, but had the oddest experience this time -- a companion ofmine ordered iced tea to drink and was told they were out and waiting for a delivery later. They are outsourcing the brewing of iced tea -- has the world come to this? There is a CVS around the corner where they could have purchased tea bags and brewed some right in the kitchen. Given the popularity of this drink, I found the fact that they were out of it andunable to come up with a Plan B to be truly bizarre, and kinda lazy.

Great for tapas
A great little spot tucked away on a sidestreet downtown. Highly recommend sharing some tapas. We had 5 different dishes and they were all excellent.

The ceviche and the creme
The ceviche and the creme brulee were both outstanding! Everything else was also very good. We had a terrific waitress - it was busy, but still she took the time to be very personable, make excellent recommendations, and accommodate every little request of ours. Overall a good experience. Only thing is, it's pretty loud in there - I had to lean over the table to hear what my partner was saying sometimes. Sitting outside in the summer would be fun.

Definitely recommend the zucchini
Definitely recommend the zucchini purses, they were amazing.

Crowded at late night dinner.
Crowded at late night dinner. Seated near walkway from kitchen to dining room so much traffic flow behind my back. Tapas, as always, delicious.

Nice spot for tapas, hot and cold
We enjoyed the small plates, the white table inen, fresh roses, and good service.
4/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, fairly priced, great service by a friendly and courteous staff. Only weakness was the wins selection as they were out of several of the choices (we did find a nice Cab, but a bit pricey for a casual business dinner. We will go here again. Ambience was vey good, attractive furnishings, clean, and friendly.
4/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
Had a wonderful meal...the salmon was cooked perfectly, the tapas were delicious, and the desserts (hazelnut ice cream and triple chocolate cake) were amazing!

Friday Evening After Work
We enjoyed sitting at an outside table at Panache after work last Friday, enjoying selections from the cocktail and wine list and sharing some of the small plate dishes among those of us at the table. Grilled calamari is especially delicious, but we enjoyed all of the 6 or 7 small plate dishes we ordered.
If you go for drinks after work, the bar is lively and fun. One of the bar tenders who's there on Fridays, Ian, is a particularly nice guy. Remembers our names. Came over to chat with us when we were seated outside the bar area.
Panache is convenient to our office so we risk becoming regulars. The nice servers, happy hour drink specials, and very good food make it a good choice.

Food was great, service was excellent and I love the large menu selection. I would definitly go there again.
5/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
My third time dining at this location and once again thoroughly enjoyed the food. Tried some new dishes and cocktails and was not disappointed!
I love that their menu has options of full menus or tapas for those wanting a lighter though no less elegant dishes.
The service has always been very good! I have dined here alone and with friends and always felt very welcome. The small intimate setting of the restaurant and the outside seating off the street reminds me very much of a French bistro.
This has been a consistently great place to dine.

Panache is my Farragut go-to, always fun and good food in an area that doesn't have a ton of options.

Great meal, Good Service, but noisy
I had dinner with some colleagues before an event on a Friday night. It was 6:30PM and the bar was incredibly noisy. It was difficult to have a conversation at the dinner table. The restaurant is small so the tables and bar share the same room. The food was incredible and the service was top notch.

Great find for Tapas!
My husband and I were on our way to the DC Improv comedy show that night and needed a good restaurant. We found Panache and it was great! The booths were cozy yet romantic, the bar was very popular with people standing around chatting, having drinks. It was almost as if the bar area was completely separated from the dining area. The food and drinks were very tasty. Nothing extreme but very, very good. The service was great and professional and we will go back before our next comedy show date.

Relaxing outdoor dinner
The small tables outside are great for singles or pairs. The food was tasty with appealing seasoning. Tapas portions were sized nicely, so that two or three would be right for one person's dinner. I had the citrus chicken fiesta salad, which was tasty and even a little citrus sweet. I also had the Beef Tenderloin Brochette from the tapas menu, which was cooked nicely and presented beautifully.

Just what we needed
After a hectic few days in DC, and dinners at very nice but loud restaurants, we truly enjoyed the quiet and calm of Panache for our final evening. We were staying at the Mayflower Renaissance right across the street. At first we were a little concerned because at 7:30 the place was almost empty. Our server was fantastic and answered our questions about tapas. All four of us ended up ordering 2 tapas for dinner. From the oohs and aaahs, I'd say the favorites were the prosciutto wrapped dates, fattoush salad, filet mignon, and the blackened salmon and artichokes. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Panache it was just what our senses ordered! I must mention the attentiveness to the water glasses. A first in the city!
6/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Not sure weather it's the out of the way location, or the fact it's a hot spot for the 20something crowd for happy hour, but the food should not be missed. I went here with a friend and both our meals were superb. Oscar, our server was pleasant, efficient and attentive. The decor is warm and inviting. I was shocked they weren't packed as the price is also well below comparable restaurants. I will definitely visit again.

Very good neighborhood restaurant
I go to restaurant frequently for lunch with clients or friends and find the food consistently good to very good. The waiters
Are helpful in recommending what is good that day. The place can get very loud so I sit in the back.
The bar gets very busy on certain evenings. It is a reliable and enjoyable place for lunch. I have not had dinner there.

Good for business lunch
Good for a downtown DC business lunch. Right off of Connecticut, but tucked away on DeSales, so not as noisy as most downtown restaurants.

We went to Panache in DC for
We went to Panache in DC for the first time this past Saturday. There were 4 in our party and we sat in a nice booth. The restaurant had good ambience. The service was prompt. Wait staff was friendly. We ordered tapas and the selection was good. The portions were decent sized and delicious. The filet mignon, mussels, and chorizo were particularly good. The sauce was great with dipping with bread. We would definitely return and recommend to others.
7/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was excellent. I ordered the scallops and they were WOW! The sauce brought the dish together. Service great! I will definitely go back.

Great for lunch
My boss brought me to Panache for my going-away lunch and we both had the seared tuna salad. I've been to Panache once before, and I thought I remembered getting more tuna on the salad, but perhaps not. We sat outside on their little patio, which can sometimes be noisy with trucks & coach buses passing by, but it was manageable. Our server was very efficient & attentive. I love their cappuccino!

The food is the draw at panache.
The food is the draw at panache. The interior is nice and outdoor seating is nice except it is on a side street and not much to look at. The service was a little slow but it could have been because we had a hard time making our minds up. We ordered tapas and every dish was wonderul and nicely presented. This is our second time and we enjoyed ourselves again as much as the first. We will return.

Al Fresco dining (but...)
Great : Lunch al fresco... on a beautiful day on a quiet street with excellent food...a reminder of Paris
Not-so-great....an expensive wine list (nothing under $48)

Great Night Out
I had my birthday dinner at Panache and loved it. I've been to this restaurant a handful of times and have never been disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious, and surprisingly, the restaurant is never that crowded. We found this little gem a couple years ago as it is right across the street from the DC Improv. All of their tapas are very good, and they were having their restaurant week specials when I went. This restaurant can be pricey, but the size of their tapas dishes is larger than the average tapas restaurants, so you don't have to order as much. Panache definitely makes a good date night out spot, or a nice place for getting together with a group of friends.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Has it all
Panache is different from the usual Dupont spots (Asian, grills, burritos). It's charming, civilized, and relaxing, with outstanding food.

Enjoyable near National Geographic
Very convenient to National Geographic where we were seeing a play. Service was quite responsive to our time constraints. Dishes were consistently good but not outstanding. We dined outside, which was very pleasant. Would certainly go again when in the area.

Left feeling very full
We decided to go with the Tapa's menu. First let me say the service was excellent. Our waiter was always checking on us without being overbearing. Our drinks were very good, I had a Watermelon Martini, a little sweet, but not bad and a Pink Lady good but could have been a little colder. Our Tapa's were the Tapenade, Bruschetta, Tuna Tartar, Pollo con Sevillia Chorizo, and the Rockfish. All were worth getting again. We will definately go back with friends in tow.

Happy to recommend
Open Table reviewers didn't disappoint. I found this while trying to identify a restaurant within walking distance from our hotel. 4 for dinner - all colleagues in town on business. Service and food were exceptional, and the prices were very reasonable for DC. All 4 of us would definitely return.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent variety and ingredients!
Excellent variety and ingredients! Highly recommended although the tuna tartar could use a little more zest. Risotto is fantastic but should include octopus as well. Thx!!

Good food but service was
Good food but service was a bit slow. Would go back again though.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
The tapas were absolutely delicious, especially the dates wrapped with prosciutto, the blackened salmon with artichoke hearts, and the garlic shrimp. Mouthwatering. We sat by the open window, but the restaurant does offer outdoor seating. Across the way is another, nondescript building, but the outdoor seating itself is romantic with lights and foliage. The server was respectful, enthusiastic, and kind. We got two tapas at a time and were able to relax and sip our wine while waiting for the next round. All in all, it was good timing for delicious food.

Lunch at Panache
A friend and I recently enjoyed lunch at Panache. The nicest part was the service, specifically, we were there to both have lunch and visit over a few hours. We were not rushed through to turn over the table. It was not busy, so we didn't feel like we were holding up their business as we lingered. The food was good, and the noise level is quiet enough that you can easily speak to the people you came with.
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was better than anything
The food was better than anything I had expected out of this quiet little restaurant. I would recommend this for date night or just having a good dinner.
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice quiet dinner.
Dinner was good. They were very adequate with service. 8/10

It was an overall very pleasant dining experience. The flavors of all the food dishes were really nice and I would definitely go and eat there again.

Never been disappointed . . .
I've been to Panache many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and reasonable.

Very nice evening--they even
Very nice evening--they even brought us a glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary!
Food and service and ambiance were all nice. I wouldn't call this a foodie's restaurant-- everything was good, but "been done" as far as couplings and menu entrees...tho they do it all well. Waiter timed his presence well with bringing out drink, bread, entrees, etc...and the restaurant was a perfect noise level--we could easily have a nice conversation. An enjoyable evening at a well-located restaurant.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had a blast, great food, service, and bar staff. Very attentive.

Keep the Bread Coming
Ever eat at one of those places where the sauces are so good you have to keep getting more bread? Three of our tapas fit this description. The Shrimp with Garlic, the Mussels Provencale, and most notably, the incredible Carciofi and Prosciutto. The sauce the artichokes came in was extraordinary and we will go back just to have that dish.
The shrimp were slightly overcooked and the blackened salmon was a bit too small to taste the salmon with all the blackening (full disclosure; my wife loved it.) The Olive Tapenade was very good, the Rockfish wrapped in Potato was a delicious recommendation, the salamis on the antipasto were superb while the cheese was OK. I don't recommend the Portobellas with goat cheese, but the wife disagrees.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
The resturant was nice. The TV's were very small. The best suprise on the dish was the Asparagus. It was cooked well and flavorful (and im pretty particular about my Aspara) The Filet Minon was tender but abit fatty. abourt 20% of the steak was fat and I just ate around it. My wife's Wine was $10 for an average glass that was a little less than half full. We were highly dissapointed in this given how much we paid for the portion at other resturants.
Some mellow music would've been nice and I had to ask the waiter for water refill twice. I asked for no ice but he kept pouring out the side of the canister allowing ice to fall in.

Had dinner here with a relative from out of town based on reviews. Did not disappoint. Shared a variety of tapas, each one better than the other. The tuna tartare was my favorite. My dinner companion loved the dates wrapped in proscuitto. Service was impeccable.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is one of the best kept secrets in DC. The food is excellent, the service is good and the ambiance is fine. The price/quality ratio is extremely high. I would deefinitely reccomend.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Do dine here
I am surprised that I had not heard about Panache before. The spicy chicken salad, flavorful baked salmon, delicious scallops were just wonderful. The service was outstanding.
Please give this restaurant a try, you will not be sorry.

National Geo Spot
Nice little restaurant around the corner from the National Geographic Museum and Theater. The staff attention was well timed as we enjoyed our food and drinks before the show. Will definitely try to get back when in the area.

I can't say enough about this place. the food is always good. The service is excellent and the ambiance is wonderful. A hidden gem tucked away on a small side street.
