If you are going to a concert
If you are going to a concert at Hill Auditorium - it's right across the street. Very friendly staff.

We liked our waiter but he
We liked our waiter but he was somewhat clumsy - spilled the coffeea into their saucers,
knocked over the pear dessert. Also forgot to re-set with new knives when reminded
and was quite nervous - maybe new to his job at Mercy's? Again, he was friendly, helpful
and positive - simply a few short-comings that he may want to be aware of.
Food was very good but one of our five in the party remarked several times that the soup she ordered was very spicy (which she did not object to) when the waiter described it as
mild. She was OK with it but another diner may not be when it is, indeed, so spicy. This
guest has a history with food - culinary school, teaching, cooking and a blog with
Bon Appetite - so she knows restaurants and food.

The Service was excellent.
The Service was excellent. The food has suttle flavors of the Far East however nothing overbearing. Sommelier was wonderfully attentive.

I have notices in the past
I have notices in the past few years that restaurants in general in Ann Arbor are serving very average food. this was my first dining experience at mercy's and I enjoyed the food overall the food was well above average and we had a very pleasant experience.

Always worth a visit.
Exceptional menu - not your typical bistro selections. Impeccable service and host, Steve, is always congenial.

Chef created a sugar-free
Chef created a sugar-free dessert for us after I had asked for one ahead of time. My companion cannot have sugar. The caramel apple cake was absolutely good enough to immediately go on their regular menu.

Start your night out here
Mercy's showed again why it's our go-to location for pre-show dining. The location (across the street from Hill Auditorium) and amenities (complementary valet parking) can't be beat, but the food excels and is worthy of a visit in its own right. The staff was hopping to keep up with the concert crowd, but we enjoyed a pleasant meal without feeling rushed or forgotten. The lighter fare entrees were a great feature, as it enabled us to enjoy an appetizer, salad, and entree without feeling we'd eaten too much. The poached pear we shared for dessert was to die for.

Crazy for your Ginger salad
This was my first time ...I've been thinking about your ginger/bell pepper salad ever since. I want to know how to make it...It was so yummy. The spicy and curry flavors were also a nice surprise..Yum,,Yum. We will be back..Lisa Phelps

WE probably set a record for
WE probably set a record for how long a party of four has dined in the restaurant, over 3 hours, but the food service and ambiance were so comfortable we completely lost track of time. The appetizers, soup, and entrees were well prepared and seasoned.

Finally first class vegan GF food
As always the staff and chef are there to please. Very accommodating to any dietary needs. In addition its a lovely hidden treasure next to Hill Auditorium so dinner and drinks before or after events without having to find another parking spot. LOVE LOVE

We celebrated our first date
We celebrated our first date 32 years ago. Everything was excellent. we had fantastic time and our waitress was sweet, friendly and very helpful. Excellent gluten free menu. Will definitely come back.

We were looking for a "nice"
We were looking for a "nice" evening out with our daughter, who is now trying to avoid gluten as well as lactose. When I saw all the GF designations on the on-line menu, I suggested we try! We had a delightful evening! Our waiter was outstanding, and very gracious to our Middle School daughter - the food was excellent - We loved the chicken liver pate, and my daughter and husband enjoyed the GF crackers, my husband and I really enjoyed the salmon and scallop dishes, and my daughter's steak was cooked perfectly. Only disappointment was that the on-line menu lists GF pot-stickers, and my daughter was eager to try them, but they are no longer offered. We will definitely be back!

Unique cuisine in lovely space
A unique cuisine with a limited menu. All dishes are carefully prepared and presented. We liked the Lighter Fare option, a size between starter and entree. Each visit presents new food options. All have been excellent. While we were sorry the poached pear desert was gone, we were very pleased to discover the Pineapple Ravioli desert that has taken its place. A wonderful place to be able to sit and talk because the noise volume is low. Also, we've never felt rushed. Each time we've gone, we've stayed for over 2 hours. Friendly, helpful but non-obtrusive staff. This has become our favorite Ann Arbor restaurant.

Netter than ever before
New gluten free items including Tempura fried GF shrimp, amazing. We had wonderful tender light white fish and tiger shrimp, both the best we have had. Keep up the great work!

Nice setting, good enough to return
Shared a summer rolls with shrimp appetizer, the least successful dish of the evening: a batch of unseasoned cut carrots, cucumbers, wrapped up with unseasoned flavorless shrimp in a translucent, gummy, and unappetizing wrapper. This dish was either badly executed or it should be dropped form the menu. What followed was a resurrection and triumph of flavor. Barbecue babyback ribs were tender, perhaps a bit overdone and possibly reheated, but accompanied by a very good sweet Korean style sauce with tangy slaw and-had they been served straight from the frier-delicious hand-cut fries. Properly prepared this would be a winner. Best of the evening was the delicious Ono Kautswe: Burmese chicken - cocounut noodle soup, & excellent wine list.

Good cocktails, nice dinner
Someone recommended this for their cocktails and the ginger martini did not disappoint. I had scallops and my husband had rack of lamb that were both excellent. Veggies were fresh and probably local. Ambiance is low key. All in all a very nice dinner and a place I'd go back to.

This is our third visit to Mercy's and we have always been delighted with the creative menu and delicious food! The wine list is very reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber. We had no problem getting a table on a Saturday night, despite it being a football weekend perhaps because it is hidden inside the Bell Tower hotel.Well worth finding!

Not very busy at all but should be!! Service was great, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. Celebrated my friend's birthday and they treated her well! Also took good care of her gluten allergy. More people need to know about this place!!

Convenient dining spot near Hill
If you're looking for a convenient, solid dining experience on the east-side of downtown AA, check out Mercy's next to the Bell Tower. Complimentary valet is a major bonus that reduces parking hassles. Ambiance is quiet so conversation is easy. Order starters as there are some of the best items.

Great Lamb Shank and Chicken
Three of us had dinner on a friday night of UM homecoming weekend and unfortunately it was only half full. I wish they would have seated everyone in one area to increase the buzz. we started with three wonderful martinis and carrot salads were refreshing.
We had three different entrees - the special was a roasted lamb shank that was superb with a fabulous wine reduction, Pan Seared Scallops with lobster jus, spicy sausage and saffron risotto was very good, but the surprise was the Pan-Seared Boneless Chicken Breast with lemon-soy reduction, which was fabulous - I don't usually order chicken in restaurants, but my guest ordered this and I was delighted to get a taste. Pinot Noir by the glass for $9 was very nice with the Lamb.

It was quite enjoyable. Their steak was nice, it's pretty quiet, and they have really good bread, which is complementary.

Just steps away from Hill
Just steps away from Hill Auditorium this quiet retreat was a new find for my wife and me. With a great bar, light fare, and intriguing desserts, its the perfect pre concert dinner or after concert dessert and coffee spot.

Hands down the best in Ann Arbor
Buttery soft yet crispy salmon was outstanding. Service and food is the best in town, and believe me we have been everywhere. This is our go to place because of the gluten free, vegan menu! You will love it. I mean GF tempura scrimp! Come on really, soooo good.

Theater District Gem
Tucked into the Bell Tower Inn is the white table-clothed dining room of Mercy's. Lovely ambiance yet still had the Michigan v Indiana game so local patrons could stay appraised of the game. Valet parking, extensive menu choices and an accommodating bartender made this a perfect restaurant choice for our pre-theater evening.

The menu is varied enough
The menu is varied enough so that there are many choices. My dinner was very good, but others in my party were not as pleased with their entrees. The night's special, for example, turned out to be a very small portion. We were going to a concert after dinner, and our waiter, after several reminders, made sure that we were served with enough time to have dessert.

A prelude to music and more
A perfect place for a pre-concert meal, situated in the shadow of Hill Auditorium.....but with food, service, and ambience so good that it's a great destination for any occasion.

Food better than ever!
We have always loved the ambiance, & warm welcome at Mercy's. We are very appreciative of the new chefs talents & the way the menu has been redesigned to fit the way folks eat now. Our crowd loves being able to share the tasty appetizers & then select either a small plate or large plate according to our personal needs. We find the portion sizes continue to be generous even in the small plates & the gourmet touches of seasoning, sauces & sides are of a consistently delicious quality no matter which category you are choosing from. The last two times we took a group there everyone was thrilled with their selections. My husband &I also enjoy stopping in, sitting at the bar, sharing an appetizer & some of their excellent cocktails too.

An excellent meal with good
An excellent meal with good service. We were able to book at short notice at a busy time.

My husband and I had dinner at Mercy's last night. We had the walleye special, which was very good. I like their bread, and we split a salad, also tasty. The only thing that missed the mark a bit was the dessert. For some reason, we had to wait quite awhile to get it so I figured they would be baking the brownie for the brownie/ice cream combo. The brownie was room temperature and not overly generous for an $8 charge. I would check out another dessert in the future.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a couple of appetizers - Korean pork belly and the dumplings - which were absolutely delicious, along with our entrees. I had the gnocchi and my husband had the steak frites - I also tried some of the clam linguine from another person at our table, which was fantastic. I would love to come back here!
