New Year's in Ballard
This was a surprisingly fun place for New Year's Eve dinner. We just may try it again.

We chose the Hi-Life for a family birthday party of four generations. Everyone had a good time and everyone had something they enjoyed eating- vegetarian, kid-friendly, etc.

Initial visit and will be returning
A friend and I planned a weeknight girls dinner and decided to try the Hi-Life. From the moment we stepped past the curtain, the smell was amazing. It was a bit noisy with the multiple tables of children when we first arrived but they quickly cleared out. Our waiter was very friendly and made great recommendations. I enjoy being able to view the kitchen and the ambiance of the wood fire oven was great. Appreciated the seasonal menu and tried as many as we could since it will be changing for Spring shortly. My friend loved her Duck Cassoulet and my Pork Tenderloin was very good. Start to finish, it was a great meal and we both plan to return.

We will return
Went here for our wedding rehearsal dinner. Very nice cocktails, nice extensive menu. Made the mistake of ordering the lamb--tough, super gamey. They took it back with no problem and brought out a very succulent chicken dish. Others at the table enjoyed their fish and salads and everyone had a yummy dessert--the favorite being the espresso bread pudding. Definitely worth a return visit. Wait staff is very attentive and friendly.

This was our first time at
This was our first time at Hi-Life and we really enjoyed the experience. Great food all around - the roasted chicken may actually have been the best I've ever tasted. Friendly staff, great ambiance. The wine selection was reasonable, but the by-the-glass offerings were unremarkable.

Great Happy Hr 7 days a week! Totally accommodating when my party grew from 7 to 9 two hrs before dinner. Great Ballard spot!

Great Neighborhood restaurant!
The Hi-Life has a great menu with something for everyone on there. The bar has a great selection of local beers on tap plus some very nice cocktails. The atmosphere of the old fire station gives the Hi-Life a unique ambiance and the service is great. This is a place I will come back to again and again

The Hi-Life - always excellent
My family and I go to the Hi-Life several times per month. Always friendly, and the food is always predictably good. And one of my favorite features, the staff seems to love working there...which is a plus.

Something for Everybody
We like this restaurant for the cocktails and for a menu that appeals to a wide variety of tastes. For this visit we had some picky eaters and a child in the group, so the food offerings included something for everyone. Our server was very patient, friendly, and efficient. Nice dinner, nice time.

Awesome wait staff
Our waitress was absolutely fantasic and personable. She was accomodating of even the most ridiculous request (my brother wanted to see a watermelon radish, and she brought one out!), and was super patient with a group who couldn't make decisions. The food was delicious, bright and refreshing flavors mixed together throughout all of the dishes. Nothing made me feel to heavy or full, and it was proportioned appropriately.

Fun but busy
Second time eating here. Really like it, but got seated 30 minutes after our reservation. They were short handed, but still wasnt our fault. They could have at least offered drinks while we waited,

Good food, kid friendly
Good food, even better cocktails, and kid-friendly. Great place to meet a group of folks with kids. The caramelized pork belly small plate, steak salad, and King salmon were terrific. 3 thumbs up for the "DIY Designer Cookies."

We came for the special fried chicken, It was very good. Our party of eight was very satisfied.

wish I found them sooner!
It was my last dinner in seattle and what a way to go out!
Started with the pork belly and polenta...impeccable!
Continued with the ahi tartare, dual peppercorn seared tuna salad and french onion soup. All was amazing and perfectly executed. The staff was attentive without hovering, the drinks were on point and had a fantastic experience through and through.
In summary, make a point to go. You will not be disappointed.
Cheers, and thank you for a top notch ending to a great city,

The restaurant was great and I really appreciated our server and how patient he was with a big group like us.

Appreciate Quality Ingrediants
We went here because I was craving a steak and I noticed they serve Painted Hills beef. The beet salad was superb, the steak a little overdone and the bread pudding dessert was awesome but twice as large as it should be! All in all, a pleasant experience.

Good food, great service
I went here with a few girlfriends for a night out. There were a lot of families. The server was extremely helpful, allowing us to create our own drink recipes, and giving us tips on night life options. The food was very good; I had the summer pasta and it was delish. The building is so neat. They had one of the fire station doors open so it was a bit breezy and chilly. Overall, a great dinner.

Wonderful as always!
We visited HiLife for the Sunday chicken dinner and were as happy as we always are with our experience. HiLife is consistently delicious with amazing service and decent prices. We really love that the menu changes with the seasons too. That adds a little mystery (lol). If you're looking for an inventive, delicious and fairly priced meal, look no further than HiLife.

There were 4 of us, all with very different likes/dislikes, and there was something for all of us. Everyone enjoyed their meal, the waitress was really nice and helpful on suggestions. We all agreed it was a place we would go again, and probably sit outside with the firepit at our table.

Incredibly accommodating staff
We booked a table for six people for a going-away party. Unfortunately for the restaurant, our party steadily expanded until we had something like ten people and a one-year-old. The Hi-Life staff were incredibly helpful and understanding as they got us more chairs and offered to move us to a bigger table (we didn't; we made it work).
We have been here many times -- it is probably my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. I only gave the food four stars in this review because my steak (which was very good otherwise) was a bit gristly, and was cooked medium rare to medium, even though I ordered medium well. But still, overall, our experience was great and we would definitely recommend this place for large groups with small children.

We had 9 people for a birthday dinner. The reservation was simple and they seated us easily in their dining room. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the service was great.

My favorite restaurant in Seattle
The title says it all. Their seasonal menus are delicious and showcase local and incredibly fresh ingredients (the mozzarella tasted like it was made 5 minutes ago!), the service is great, and the ambience is fantastic for those looking for upscale casual dining. THE. BEST. RESTAURANT. IN. SEATTLE.

Hi-Life - Once again
Good as always, love the fact that they change their menu frequently. Not sure why OpenTable doesn't award points for the dinner reservation though.

Everything was fab and the kids loved making their own cookies!

Great spot for family dinner
We had two families getting together for dinner, and this was a great spot. It's casual but quality- service was very attentive and accommodating, the space worked well- not loud, but not quiet enough that you are self conscious about kids, and the food was great. We'll be back.

Great service, OK food
The service was fantastic. They had a great selection of beers, drinks, etc. The food was a little lacking, tho. My burger was over-cooked and just OK. That seemed to be the consensus for most of the dishes at the table. However, we had a large party, so that might have had something to do with it.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Really great place!
The food is especially terrific, as is the service. And the menu offers a wide variety of choices. Hats off to the chef!
