Since moving to the neighborhood, this is the only restaurant we have been back to three times. It never disappoints. Will continue to eat here . Our go to spot in the area.

I've frequented this place
I've frequented this place for the last 10 years even when it was located in carrol gardens. They make their own bread and tomato flan as well, so I probably eat an entire loaf when I'm there, to the point where the waiter should start telll me their out after its been replenished twice. Finally, the owner is accommodating and friendly.

We had a pre-theater birthday
We had a pre-theater birthday dinner and had the place to ourselves at 5 pm. The service was wonderful, the host was warm and welcoming, and the food was the best Italian I've had in a really long time in NYC. (Biggest hunks of calamari I've ever encountered too! It was like they hunted down the Giant Squid.) I always walked by the place clueless as to the quality inside; the winter door blocks all the Yelp and Zagat praises in the windows! Definitely will be visiting again.

Great option before BAM We
Great option before BAM
We live in Manhattan and needed a restaurant before BAM. This is a great option...very close and quite good. Service moves along. Good choices for entrees and nice salads. Often the Patron Office at BAM uses this restaurant for dinners so you know it has to be good. We enjoyed it.

Great food. A nice warm feeling. Incredibly convenient to the Barclay Center and LIRR station. Great service.

It's a block away from BAM
It's a block away from BAM Harvey, so they get a big pre-theatre crowd. But they don't lose their cool and produce good food for a lot of people with limited time to eat it. Outside theatre hours, it must be a fine place to enjoy a relaxed meal!

Caffe e Vino: Always a Treat
We had a lovely early Sunday evening at Caffe e Vino. The food was well prepared, plated nicely, and served in the conscientious
and friendly manner we have come to expect when dining there. One is made to feel very welcome and like a neighborhood friend.
The food is delicious, the variety offered on the menu always has some standard dishes which are always served and some new things as well. When my husband asked about the mozzarella and tomato salad that he loves. He was told that they didn't have buffalo mozzarella, but would make it for him with regular mozzarella, which they did. He was very happy with that. It was a lovely and satisfying dinner.

Great food, reasonably priced
Great food, reasonably priced and close to BAM! Delicious home made pasta. Italian beer on tap. Attentive and prompt service
Will definitely be back!

A pleasant surprise
Rustic interior with cozy front space (about 10 tables). Offers wine and beer.
Brunch and lunch menus at reasonable prices. Chef quite good - a surprise at how delicate his cooking touch is. Omelets and
poached eggs (on proscuitto and Italian bread) excellent and cooked properly; pasta was cooked al dente with light-handed homemade sauce. Zucchini souffle appetizer was light and fluffy. Secret spot is in the back, where the sun shines into the large windows.
Good place for a group lunch. Interesting choices for dinner with some different items vs. standard southern Italian fare. Would definitely return.

The absolutely best meatballs ever created!!!
Made with veal and ricotta. They were light and juicy and exquisitely flavorful

A neighborhood gem in easy
A neighborhood gem in easy walking distance to BAM. Great for pre-theater or pre-concert events- - small, relaxed, good home-made pasta and dishes. Small but adequate wine list.

Good until the end...
Had 2 appetizers, soft shell crab with arugula salad was delicious, as was polenta with mushrooms, although both were on the small side. When it was time to pay the bill, I handed our server a credit card and was told that there was some problem with their processing machine, and that I could either pay in cash or leave my credit card number with him for later use. I did not like that idea and scraped together the cash, barely. When I said that it would have been nice to have been informed of this problem earlier, he got very huffy. There was something odd about the whole interaction. I would eat here again, but be sure to bring enough cash.

Really Great Place
It might be small and quaint but it is full of charm. The food is fantastic and the staff very accommodating.

Great Dinning Choice Close To BAM
This is a great dinning choice when going to BAM. It is only two blocks from BAM Opera House and I was able to park on the street by the hospital for $5.00 for 5 hours. Very good food attentive service.

Give it a Visit
This restaurant is cozy and dimly lit, perfect for date night. The salmon was juicy and the homemade pappardelle with mushroom ragout was delicious. The servers were attentive and the wine list, though not extensive, had some great options. I will definitely go back if I'm in the neighborhood again.

Fantastic diamond in a haysack
My girlfriend and I loved this place. The atmosphere was nice, the food was great. You know the restaurant is a great place when the owner introduces himself to the guests.

Great for Post-BAM Supper
My husband and I had dinner there recently following Anna Nichole at BAM. We sat outside, but the inside seemed cozy. The antipasto appetizer was lovely and not your usual fare. The pasta entrees were delicious--they tell us the pasta is homemade. We shared a panna cotta for dessert. We look forward to going back next time we're in that area. It seemed like a good value--prices were reasonable and the quality was very good.

Selected this restaurant because of location to BAM and mostly positive reviews. So glad we did!! Food & service was wonderful! Starting with the bread basket (though the bread should have been warm)...we were served a remarkable tomato flan, something we had never experienced before, but hope to repeat many times! We shared the stuffed eggplant appetizer--delicious. My friend had the Pappardelle and raved about it. I had the Polpettine Di Vitello E Ricotta (veal & ricotta meatballs)...light, airy, simply sublime. Yes, the space is a little crowded, but the service and food more than make up for it!!

Like dining with friends
Terrific food, always original and a little unexpected, served by warm, friendly people you wish would join you at the table. Caffe e vino is a model of what happens when the owners and staff show how much they care.

very lovely spot
A friend and I went to something at BAM and I found this wine bar online. We were very happy with our meals. The salad with grilled shrimp was excellent. The pasta with eggplant was excellent, too!! Very cozy little place and the only comment I would make is that the bread was terrible!! It was like a loaf of soft white bread shaped like Italian - just awful but otherwise, our meal was great!

Great spot after BAM or TFNA
This is a lovely little place with excellent food (a limited menu, but, uniformly well prepared and tasty) and exceptional ambiance. The owner/manager is devotedly hospitable and the staff goes the extra mile to see that everyone is pleased with his/her food and/or drink. Little touches - like bringing pasta to a diner who didn't like the potatoes with his main course gratis; or, insisting on providing a piece of cheesecake with the coffees, likewise gratis - make this place seem especially friendly and comfortable.
This was only the second time I was there with my wife - the first time was in May - and the owner immediately recognized us and greeted us. He and his family who run the place have their eye squarely on the ball.

THIS ONE TIME
I have always found the service to be excellent as well as the food and ambiance. This review pertains only to my visit, with three others, on Thanksgiving.
Everything was just about perfect until a group came in with a small child. I don't know what, if anything the restaurant staff could have done. The group did try to silence the child by talking to him, but once they saw that did not work, they should have taken the child out until the child regained composure. It came to a point where the adults just gave up and the child took over, while the adults just ignored. This may work well at home, but it does not work well in public venues.

Thanksgiving Was Saved!
We arrived early on Thanksgiving day - 4:30pm - and had the place to ourselves along with the attention of the wonderful waiter. We started with appetizers--sausage and sautéed spinach and pumpkin soup specials, and the antipasto--and then moved to fish stew in a tomato broth, veal meatballs (which were delicious but only came with 2) and amazing homemade eggplant and goat cheese ravioli. The meal finished with dessert, of biscotti tiramisu and chocolate torte cake, and cappuccino. We highly recommend Caffe e Vino. A romantic spot, especially if you are in ahead of the crowd, or just a lovely, small spot where the Italian food is impeccably prepared.

Friendly, tasty, great location
Caffe e Vino is a warm, welcoming place with authentic northern Italian food -- and lots of choices for those who want to eat a fuller or lighter meal. We particularly liked a spinach souffle appetizer, and a dinner special -- pork loin wrapped with figs -- was sensational. Even on a busy night, conversation was no problem. Then there's the location -- a very short walk to BAM and Theater for a New Audience. We'll definitely be back
