DTM dinner review
My wife and I had dinner at DTM and then went to see a play at 8:00. The location was just around the corner from the theatre so it was very convenient. The waiter made several suggestions which we accepted and were extremely happy we did. We ate outside in front which although it was a bit noisy from traffic did not detract one bit from the dining experience. Food was great and the service was exceptional. I would recommend DTM to friends without hesitation.

Very nice dinner, service
Very nice dinner, service was excellent ,there when you needed but not hovering. We came early and were seated with no trouble. Food was very good and we found something for two young teen picky eaters, so nice they were able to just have an appetizer without feeling bad.
If the weather was nice we could have sat outside.

A Great Dinning Experience
First timers at Don't Tell Mama Restaurant. pleasantly surprised at the Great Food and Excellent Service.
Wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely be returning again on our next trip to New York City.

It was quite quiet the night that we went to this restaurant which was a nice reprieve from some of our other NYC dining experiences. Very enjoyable meal, terrific service. Would definitely return.

A fun and different spot
DTM is a great choice among many choices on restaurant row. The price fixe $24 can't be beat. Salad was big and tasty and the salmon is delicious. 3 of our group had it and agreed. The 4 th had the couscous chorizo and said it was great. Desserts tasty too. Be sure and get the extra garlic bread!!!

Our first time at this restaurant.
Our first time at this restaurant. It was small and comfortable, food was good and the service was very good.

Nice little restaurant
We had a very nice pre theater dinner for $24 which consisted of 3 courses. The salad was a good size and very good. The main course, salmon, was very tasty, but the plate was a bit small. The desserts, brownie or lemon pie, were good.
The restaurant is very small with a very large bar. However, no one was at the bar at this time. Our waiter was very attentive and nice.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant on restaurant row for a pre theater dinner. Ask for the prix fixe menu.

The Muscovy Duck was exquisite. In all the food was superb. Great place, friendly atmosphere. The home made sangria was excellent! Located on Restaurant Row on 46th street. THE place to go for dinner before or after the show. Plus a sing-a-long cabaret room you can pop into after dinner.
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
I was on a "girl's night out" and was looking for a piano bar and found Don't Tell Mama restaurant with a piano bar next door (same location). Dinner and service were outstanding! I had the flatbread pizza and the others each had tilapia, all were outstanding dishes. This was a fun, adult style, relaxing dinner. Definitely recommend for date night or a girl's night out.

The food was delicious and perfectly portioned--just right. The atmosphere was welcoming. The service was excellent. The restaurant and rest rooms were very clean. We will be back!

Charming and quirky! Great
Charming and quirky! Great choice for a pre matinee lunch. We were 2 adults, 1 senior and. 6 year old. Met all our needs and quick walk to theater. The single waiter balanced four tables while we were there and managed to take our picture, give us a history of the restaurant and dish with us about the shows currently on Broadway. We will be back!

Attentive service; they don't rush you; good food. Went here w 3 kids after a show and it was a pleasant experience

Great food, great ambiance...loved!
I was happily surprised by how good the food, service, and overall ambiance of this restaurant was. It is fairly close to Times Square and the theaters so sometimes you get ripped off, but not here...it was excellent!

Great place off the beaten track. Liked the name so we thought we would give it a try. 46th Street west of 8th street is full of restaurants. The service was excellent and friendly. We had a variety of food, Italian, shrimp scampi, and ribs. Each dish was prepared exceptional well and it all tasted wonderful. It is a piano bar that starts around 9:00 we were there before that. They do have music playing but it did not overpower our conversation. All in All I would go back the next time I am in the area.

Mama Would Be Proud!
I enjoyed the cozy, neighborhood feel of the restaurant. The menu has something for everyone, fish, pasta, steak and our group had something from each. The Short Ribs were particularly tender and delicious and the fish dishes were tasty. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly.

Excellent lunch spot
This place was excellent. I went there for lunch and got the PF lunch for $17. Great price. Nice rolls. Got white zinfandel ($8),buffalo mozzarella (tomato and mozzarella) for appetizer – excellent, Dijon marinated chicken breast with potato puree and vegetables for main (very good), warm walnut brownie for dessert (very good). I intend to go back for dinner. They have a very nice dinner menu.

Very reasonably priced, good
Very reasonably priced, good food and varied menu.

Good, quiet dinner
My friends and I dined here before we headed to a Broadway show. This is a tiny restaurant with charm. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The menu is not complicated and is full of delicious dishes. I had the Shrimp Scampi, and my friends had the Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli. We all would have licked our plates if we could have!! Wine list was short, but specialty cocktails were great. The restaurant was very hot and we were all very sweaty when we left for our show. Overall. Great place. We'd defi Italy dine here again.

Very accommodating service
I went to the restaurant before an early show of Annie with my daughter. When I arrived, I realized I had forgotten my tickets to the show. I asked the waiter to please speed the service because I had to get to the theatre early to deal with the ticket situation. The food came out so quickly I couldn't believe it. It was fresh and tasty. My 12 year old daughter enjoyed the short ribs and I had the butternut squash ravioli.
So many restaurants are oblivious to your time needs so I was so pleasantly pleased by the way they were able to step up their game and help us. I would definitely go pre-theatre again!

The restaurant was very accommodati
The restaurant was very accommodating to our group of 8. The service was outstanding and the food very good !
We would come back here in a minute!

Quick service, great food!
I definitely recommend dining at "Don't Tell Mama". I ate in the indoor restaurant portion, but there is also a cabaret, bar and outdoor seating. The food was excellent. However, we ordered an appetizer in addition to our entrees. We received the appetizer and then a few minutes later the food came out. Because of this we weren't really able to enjoy the appetizer before delving into our food. Perhaps the restaurant does this so you will definitely make your show, but the 2nd dish came a little but too quickly for me. If you're looking for fast service and good food, go to this restaurant!!

This restaurant was a real gem of a find. A bartender in Cape Cod Mass. Told us about this great place and he was not wrong. Our waiter named Matt was the greatest. ,nothing we asked for was to hard for him to do. After dinner Matt arranged a table in the piano bar, what talent came to the stage to sing along with the very very good piano player.
Thanks for the best evening Matt

Looking for a quiet place
Looking for a quiet place near our hotel before a show and this place fit the bill. The waiter asked right away if we were going to a show and what time, which was very thoughtful. We just had a salad and pasta, and both were very good. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again the next time we're in the city.

One of the Best places EVER.
When we passed by Dont Tell Mama the hostess stopped us and had be so kind showing us the menu. She was so pleasant. We decide to give it try never being there before. The waiter was great, very professional and gave great suggestion. GARLIC BREAD was mouth watering just delicious. I have never had better and you would think Italian restaurant would have great garlic bread. Food was just perfect great portions and nice flavors. My compliments to the chef. Defiantly will come back again.

Not good seating for parties of 2
I ordered the strip steak and it was probably the best tasting one I have had in a while. Perfectly cooked to medium rare. The asparagus was good, but the roasted potatoes were just OK. My wife had the chicken picatta and told me it was very good. I had a side of garlic bread but I guess because of that, they did not bring any other bread to the table. But that's OK, the garlic bread was plentiful and excellent. The only I issue I had that was all of the tables for two were located just behind the bar stools. There were plenty of empty tables for 4, but I guess they wanted to optimize their return on the space and thought maybe they would get busy. Would I go there again? Maybe. But I would certainly recommend it.

Loved this place!!
My daughter and I had a late dinner on the small outdoor patio and the food was wonderful. The waiter suggested the garlic bread and I must say it might have been the best I've ever eaten!!! We shared the warm wild mushroom salad, which was more than adequate for both and they split is for us before bringing it out, which is always nice. I chose the shrimp and lobster ravioli and my only disappointment was that it was too much to eat and had to leave half on my plate. My daughter had the chorizo risotto and she said it was fantastic!! After dinner we had a second drink and the waiter secured us a seat in the packed, connected piano bar!! We had a blast!! Fun place with the piano player playing sing along tunes!! Great evening!!!

Theater District has many restaurants but Don’t Tell Mama I remember from when I was a kid. My parents used to take me here years ago, and now as an adult, I decided to relive the experience. Only this time, I am over 21 and can buy a drink at the Piano Bar too! I sent my Dad a picture from the restaurant and he said Don’t Tell Mama! As I ate my Demi-Glazed Chicken with veggies, I was fascinated by the walls filled with classic flyers of performers from the 80’s. Thank you for not changing one bit.

Only in New York...
It was a romantic night on Restaurant Row with my girlfriend. We had a table in the back of Don't Tell Mama with a great waiter. He recommended a few dishes that were delicious. Garlic Bread, Pizza Bianca, & Mama’s Salad for appetizers with Oven Roasted Halibut and Spaghetti Pomodoro for entrees. A bottle of wine later, we saw a poster for a Cabaret show starting at 9:30pm, so we decided to go for that as well which was spontaneous and fun. We told our friends about this restaurant and we are coming back in a couple weeks for a birthday dinner.

Great pre threatre
Very good pre-theatre with a nice menu and very good service. Only downside I had was that this restuarant was listed in the Gluten-free options and they DO NOT have a gluten free menu nor do they have many gluten free options. However, what they did have was enjoyed by everyone in our large party.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
A pleasant surprise!
We were a group of 12 people and the service was uniformly good. Attention was consistent, amicable, and the food was very good. Afterwards, you have two options for live music and if you are in the mood for singing, this is the right place for you. 2 piano players with wonderful waitresses who sang surprisingly well. They were very helpful to all of us. If you want to have a nice time with a large group of people, this is an excellent choice. I would definitively come back when I need to feel good and have a wonderful night!
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
great for before theatre
Dined with 12 other ladies prior to a 7 pm show. Service was efficient to have us all on way in time to get to theatre after our 5pm arrival. They even gave us separate cheques which was really helpful when it came time to leave. Very nice dining atmosphere!

A real neighborhood gem
Very pleasantly surprised. We were a party of 6 plus one infant. We were made to feel comfortable despite my reservations about bringing a small baby with stroller into a relatively small space. Our choices of food were all excellent. I personally recommend the chicken Marsala biscuit dish and the tira misu. Will definitely come again!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were looking for a place for dinner and then on the Piano Bar. What we lucked into was a gem for dinner topped off with a terrific time at the Piano Bar. Three of us had the surf and turf. All of us are picky and all enjoyed our meal from walking in to leaving. Recommend to any in the Times Square area looking for something small but totally delicious!

Great pre-theatre experience!
Delightful and attentive service without being intrusive. Adorable little restaurant with really nice menu, and our meals were really good, esp. the salmon. Pasta dish excellent flavor, but pasta amount could have been halved. Would return, definately!

We were seated at a table which met our requirements perfectly. The food was very good and the service was great.

Dinner and a show
Was going to a show and looked around for a good dinner spot. Nice place, great food, excellent wine and desert
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service at Don't Tell Mama can't be beat. We had a 5 o'clock reservation, and we were out the door by 5:45 on our way to an event at Edison Ballroom that started at 6. The food was delicious. My husband had the Chicken Marsala, and I had the butternut squash ravioli. You simply have to order the garlic bread, it's a must!
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
my friends and i were looking for some place different on restaurant row where we hadn't been (6 of us). trying to please everyone is a feat, but going to Don't Tell Mama made it easy. from the drinks (wow) to dessert, everything was delicious and plentiful, and the service was impeccable. the menu was varied enough for many choices and the fixed price was right! A fine lunch was had by all. We'll be back.

Nice Spot for Dinner
We tried this spot for Saturday night dinner in NYC to meet a friend we hadn't seen in a while. It appears to be in a trendy area, but the atmosphere was quiet enough that we could talk, but busy enough that we knew we were in a good place. The food was tasty, but not the best I have ever had. It was just fine, and not over-priced.

Dont Tell Mama pre-theater
Great place to go early before the theater. Really nice menu, great food, excellent service.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
We were seated as soon as we walked in, right on our reservation time. We immediately received our drinks and enjoyed the vibe. The food came in a timely fashion. The butternut squash was excellent after a very good Caesar Salad. Everyone at the table enjoyed the meal.
After dinner we moved to the piano bar which was hoping before going to our play. The entertainment was fun and set the theme for the balance of the evening.
I highly recommend.

Pre Fixe theater dining
Enjoyed our meal before going to Theater. Both entrees were great - salmon was excellent as was the chicken breast. Service was great. I will be back.

tell your friends
I had tickets to a broadway play and decided to have dinner before the show. I arrived a few minutes early and was promptly seated. I ordered a bellini martini which was very good. My dinner entree was the ny strip steak which came with garlic potatoes and asparagus spears. The steak was so tender and juicy, it melted in my mouth, the potatoes and vegetable were tasty also. The service was great, and my food arrived quickly, so I was able to enjoy it,and walk over to the theatre with time to spare. I would recommend this restaurant to friends

Very nice quaint restaurant.
Very nice quaint restaurant. Food was very good however only a limited amount of food on menu. The portion size was small .

Did not know what to expect by using open table and was a little nervous as this dinner was to celebrate 40 years of marriage. We had a wonderful time. The food was very good and the service excellent. I requested and received a table near the window. Could not have made a better choice.

My Mama also liked Don't Tell Mama
My mom and I had a great evening at Don't Tell Mama. We went first to the Seth Rudetsky Chatterbox show, had some drinks, and stayed after for food at the restaurant. It was so cool to see up-close Zachary Levi, star of TV's 'Chuck' and new Broadway show, First Date.
For dinner, we enjoyed everything we ordered. From the appetizers which included the best Garlic Bread I ever had, and I have been to many authentic Italian restaurants to the Halibut with Mashed Potatoes. I also liked the Duck I tried from my Mom.
The waiters were very friendly and recommended a delicious dessert. This is a great place to come back to when we will be in the City, especially since they are open all the major holidays.
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
Wonderful value, great food
I went here with a friend for lunch. We ordered off of the main menu, not the priced fixed menu. I had the salmon which was exquisite. I also ordered the chocolate mousse cake dessert which was also wonderful.

Perfect location - theater district
Great location to eat prior to a Broadway play. Good food, great ambience, good service!

We had Thanksgiving dinner
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Don't tell Mama and while the food part in the restaurant room was fair, the bar part with live music and entertainment was outstanding and big fun. Would probably not go there again for food, but would definitely go for drinks and entertainment.
