I can't get enough of this
I can't get enough of this place...every time I go to Le Pescadeux the service never ceases to amaze me. The food is exquisite! Attend and caution: Le Pescadeux is addictive.

I have walked past this place many times, but this is the first time I have ever eaten there. My fiance and I went for his birthday, as we were looking for a nicer place, but not too expensive (ie $25 dollar entrees). I made a reservation on-line and the manager called us back to confirm almost immediately. When we arrived at the restaurant, he was there to introduce himself, personally checking in on guests all evening. He seemed to know a lot of his customers personally. The seafood was fresh and deliciously prepared. We had wine, appetizers, entrees and desert, and every bit of it was wonderful. It was also one of the first warm days of the year, so the front windows were opening, pulled back, so it felt as if we were outdoors.

This is a wonderful restaurant. The seafood and ingredients are fresh. The menu has a Quebec flavor. It's all done very well and the half portions are a great idea. We continue to go back, it is one of our favorite places to eat. They have live music on certain nights but it's not really intrusive, just background music.

Terrific food in a friendly setting
We have returned to Pescadeux many times and are always delighted. On this visit the warmth and excellent service were greater than ever. And the food is terrific. Great value

A wonderful birthday dinner that was both visually delicious and yummy.
5/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything about the brunch service was excellent. This is a brunch winner. Make your reservations. Sunday's jazz trio was also great.
5/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Excellent sea food
Maybe there could be more typical dishes from Quebec. Only one cheese was represented from being originally Quebecois.
5/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
As always a very enjoyable meal. The food and the service is very good. Desserts are worth it too.

Nice quiet lunch all to myself..
Nice staff & setting.. I sat facing outside, not the greatest view there is a park in front, but I've seen worse. Food was good, nice local experience on a sunny NY day. I will go back, tehy have jazz at certain times I hear. and yes I recommend.

The ambiance was comfortable,
The ambiance was comfortable, and non-rushed, Staff was attentinve, and not overbearing.
The sea urchin and lobster risotto was excellent,as was the cod , shrimp, and octopus.
Crab cakes were also good as well as the duck confit.
Wine selections were appealing , cocktails well served.
Small restaurant , make reservations, good for couples and small ntimate groups.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurant now

Went there for a dinner date and everything hit the mark. The staff was outstanding, very attentive without being intrusive. The food was outstanding for every course and the prices are right. We would certainly return and recommend this place to others.

Business credit card clientele
That's what this restaurant is geared for. The food -- good but not outstanding. The portions extremely generous. The service -- attentive without being micromanaging. Like Il Mulino, what came gratis before the menu was very, very generous--bread, salami (I think), roasted eggplant and a chunk of parmigiano cheese speared off a huge wheel. And the meal was capped off with a gratis shot of grappa, homemade. The service can be improved by citing the prices of all the house specialties which are verbally delivered and not on the menu. We had to ask for the prices. The only big disappointment was the wine by the glass menu -- only two whites offered and the white we had was mediocre at best.

Great place to eat
This is a great restaurant. You can always count on a good meal here and the service is very good. The owner is always checking the tables to make sure everything is to your liking. One of our favorite restaurants.

Perfect ambiance (including temperature for a change in this over air-conditioned restaurant world). Well done on all fronts!

Great Resturant - Way Too Noisy
The food was great, the service wonderful, the owner gracious but the noise level was excruciating and made worse by the live music. Not a place to have a quiet conversation or any conversation. Unfortunately, noise is new normal in NYC restaurants.

A Solid Choice
We ate at Le Pescadeux for the first time. We had a lovely meal with lots of choices for interesting seafood preparations. The restaurant was charming and welcoming, and the doors were swung open onto a beautiful summer night. We'll definitely go back.

Relaxing restaurant scene in SoHo. Great food and service.

As always a great place to eat. You can enjoy a nice meal here.

Something different, amd great
So "casual, French-Canadian" in one review turns out to be fantastic, Quebecois inspired, southern French. Very inspired! Starting with the cocktail list which includes Cdn rye, maple, a mojito with riesling amd which makes it all come together. Try the "2 halves" as a way to try more than one dish ( though the nightly specials can make that hard) and the bouillabaisse is the best I've had. A great find in SoHo.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food, service and ambience make this a favorite of mine.

Idyllic Sunday Brunch
We have been to Le Pescadeux for dinner several times, but have only recently enjoyed the brunch. Sitting in the dining room with doors open to the mild summer weather, soft jazz playing from a live combo and the background sounds of children frolicking across the street at the playground - we were enamored even before the food arrived! The Omelette Quebecois was heaven for those with a hardy appetite - a large omelet stuffed with Canadian smoked brisket (sort of like pot roast), with fries topped with "poutine", a Canadian cheesy gravy. All kinds of Eggs Benedict variations are offered along with more traditional items such as pancakes. Excellent, friendly service tops off this wonderful afternoon experience.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Le Pescadeux is one of the few restaurants left in Manhattan where you can get very good food and very good live music (Tuesday and Wednesday, mostly jazz). The open room on a SOHO sidestreet, fully open to the street in good weather, makes this a special place. Chuck is a delightful and energic host...
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent combinations of fish
I would recommend the sea bass. You can design any combination of 2 different fish out of a list of 6-7.
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent food. wine, service.
I had lunch here recently and the food and choices are excellent. Especially appreciate that the portions are reasonably sized, important for me as a diabetic. Excellent service but not obsequious . Then I took family and friend for dinner - same excellent food, etc. They leave the front "doors" open to the street - so the noise was not raucous. The food was marvelous and inventive, especially the sea urchin/lobster risotto. Dessert list starts with wonderful cheeses! A very good choice for a "foodie" interested in trying new things in a place without an attitude.

Best meal in NY!
Great food - really fresh fish imaginatively presented. Great live jazz (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Great service overseen by owner and great atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Loved this restaurant
We loved everything about our experience here. First of all the food was fabulous. My friend said the risotto was the best she's ever eaten. My duet of fish was cooked perfectly . The service was great. The restaurant is charming and the noise level was very low. We had a very romantic evening and when we return to NYC we will definitely be back. Also we are real foodies and ate in great restaurants all 4 days we were here, but this was the best.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a great time. Waiter was terrific - food, music, and host/owner were also wonderful and welcoming to our group of six.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
As always, this restaurant serves wonderful tasting food with a well thought out menu. Service is very good. We went on a night with music but it wasn't so loud as to be intrusive.

Delicious food and great service
After a long day, I made a last minute reservation for one at 10:30 p.m. on a weekday. When I arrived, there was Billie Holiday signing and 2 other tables having drinks. I thought I was the last customer and I was wrong.
The menu was simple. My waiter made a couple of great recommendations from entree to wine selection. The black bass was cooked perfectly and while the tuna was more done than I would have liked, the flavor was superb; the creamed chard and spinach was the best I have ever had.
When I turned down the dessert, the waiter smiled, "no problem," he said. A minute later he came back filled up my wine; "a little more wine, then." I couldn't believe my luck. Their food along with hospitality definitely turned my day around.

Great french fare!!
This is a consistently wonderful restaurant with very high quality seafood that is always served perfectly. The bouilibiasse is probably one of the best we have had. We highly recommend it!

Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner
Had a great evening here on Canadian Thanksgiving. Chuckie was very welcoming and entertaining. Gave service a passing 3 stars but would asterisk this as it was a different prix fixe menu and the place was packed with big groups.
10/13/2013 5:00:00 PM
Terrific Jazz Brunch
The band was great, the crab cake with poached egg really delicious, the banana bread yummy, the wine wonderful, the mackerel tartare outstanding, really a great time and great choice to take out of towners for a relaxing New York brunch.

Amazing Canadian food in Soho!
Food was incredible!! Try the poutine was just like being back in Canada! Service was terrible but spoke to the manager and hope it will be addressed!

Chuck's Le Pescadeux is Gem!!
Le Pescadeux remains a great spot to fine on great cuisine of the French influence, taste fine wine and enjoy energetic live music.

What a creative ides...main
What a creative ides...main dishes actually are 2 1/2 portions of fish..choose your 2! IT's a new riff on small plates!

Reliable and friendly
We always enjoy dinner here. Fish is fresh and the pairings allow you to try two entrees. Service is attentive without being fussy. Nice wine list. Pleasant room.
10/31/2013 5:00:00 PM
sea food based menu
Good rest in SOHO without pretension or over the top prices. Notable wine list for its reasonable prices. One of the few food/$ ratio places left in NYC. Decor is appealing without being trendy. Worth checking out.
11/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
A wonderful evening
The food was exceptional, the wine list interesting, the ambience warm and intimate, all on a beautiful quiet street. We loved it.

Would Go Back...
The food was very good with terrific service. The owner was very jovial and came by to chat with us for a bit. The atmosphere was friendly and cozy.
I would go back to try other selections from the menu.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
I actually went after reading reviews as Aqua Grill wasn't able to sit us on a Sat.night last minute.
Needless to say,we are all foodies and looks like this will become a favorite of all six of us,who had a memorable dinner this last Sat.
The owner /maitre'd was funny, and ultra friendly.
Thanks to Yelp reviewers who hit it on the nose.!!

Found A New Favorite Hideaway
I am a refugee from Paris Commune, L'Incontro, Jack's Bistro, Elephant & Castle, Cornelia Street Cafe...well you get the point. Neighborhood spots either overrun by weekend tourists or forced out of business by insanely high commercial rents, only to be replaced by (surprise!) nail salons, banks, or a Duane Reed.
Full of hope we booked a birthday dinner there and threw caution to the winds. We were treated like log lost family. I slurped own the boulliabase quebecoise with a perfectly dry pinot noir.
The atmosphere is dark warm and mellow, no fussy decorations or table top tchotchkas. With only one waiter for the restaurant that night it was a bit hard to get his attention. So, not bad for a night out in SoHo. We will be back!
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Warm and welcoming
Great meal at a very cozy and welcoming restaurant. Everything was delicious and the portions generous. The host clearly appreciates his diners and it does make a difference. We will definitely return and tell our friends!

A special night
I took my father and boyfriend here the other night. The food was excellent. I've never had octopus quite like this before. Everything was phenomenal. The live music was a lovely touch, but the owner is entertainment enough. He dropped by our table a few times and always had a nugget of humor to share. If you want to wow someone for a date this is definitely a great spot.

A hit every time!
I don't often take the time to write reviews, but I just adore Le Pescadeux. I have had dinner here three times now, the first on Valentine's Day which was a fantastic experience - the menu, the ambiance (very romantic without being over-the-top), the live music, the individual attention paid to each table by the owner - I was truly impressed. And each time I have been back I have found the same. It's clear the owner truly loves what he does and wants each of his diners to feel welcome and comfortable. And the food - everything is prepared to perfection.
I can be very picky, having worked in four-star restaurants for a number of years, but this is a restaurant I will definitely return to again and again.

Excellent. A must try and Go Often
An excellent find. Great, friendly and compelling environment. Loved the two fish duo, sweet carrots and broccoli. Engaging host. Delicious French/ Quebec/ international cuisine.
