A Nice Brunch
We have been going to Bidwell Street Bistro right from the month it opened, and have rarely been disappointed. We haven't been there for a while -- they've expanded since our last visit -- but returned this year for a Mother's Day brunch. It was a buffet, with pretty standard fare -- smoked salmon, tri-tip, baked salmon, ham, penne bolognese, various salads -- as well as "bottomless" mimosas and/or champagne. The food was quite good, although not spectacular, and the service was a little spotty. (I suspect the more senior staff was serving food at the buffet table.) All in all, it was a pleasant experience. The cheesecake, by the way, was excellent.

Always a great outing
BWSB is always on the mark. Terrific food, attentive service, and nice atmosphere make it a go-to restaurant in Folsom. Never disappoints.

Consistently excellent food!
I love this place - I'm never disappointed with the quality of food. Prices relatively moderate. Happy hour offers a bargain on small bites. Chef Wendy offers a varied and delicious menu!

My husband and I visited the Bidwell St. Bistro over a year ago, and there was absolutely nothing on the dinner menu that really appealed to us. This time was entirely different--there were lots of wonderful-sounding choices on the menu, and our dinners were delicious. The atmosphere was lovely, too. We did have a little trouble getting our waiter's attention, and water glasses were not refilled and bread was not offered unless we were able to flag him down. But, other than that, the dinner was lovely, and we will go back and give them another try.

It is so wonderful to go into a restaurant where you know the food is ALWAYS delicious and the service impeccable, We can refer Bidwell Street Bistro to anyone with complete confidence and know they will thank us.

My son recommended the restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed it so much, I recommended it to three of my friends. We went there to celebrate my birthday. We all enjoyed it very much. The whole experience was marvelous.

Friday night out
We enjoyed our dinner to the fullest extent ~ cheerful atmosphere & very classy establishment. My husband said that the petrale sole was the best he'd ever eaten. My cousin and I ordered the flat iron steak & every mouthful was so delish; we didn't want the experience to end! His girlfriend ordered the "steamed Manilla clams & crispy pork belly" but as she was eating it she noticed that the clams were missing. Our waitress apologized & brought her a side order of mussels. I don't think the waitress explained why she was getting mussels instead of clams, but they were tasty so we didn't say anything. All in all, Bidwell Street Bistro provided us with a top-notch dining experience!

Hi End Gem with Low Prices
My first time at Bidwell Bistro and I had expected the typical high prices. I was absolutely amazed and delighted!!
The server was a friendly delight as well. She got my maximum reward for her informative friendliness and doting service.
Will definitely head back there many more times!

A very nice evening!
We received gift cards for dinging at the Bidwell Street Bistro, along with the advice to make it a special occasion. We decided to make it there for our 28th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The ambience is that of a very fine european bistro. My wife had the calamari appetizer which was very tasty - she could not finish the plate. For dinner she had the boneless short ribs which we both judged as OUTSTANDING!! I ordered the sampler plate starter of which the grilled wild boar sausage was the best. The heritage tomato salad was very nice but too salty. The Steak Frites was also very salty. Overall, very nice place - recommend you ask chef to hold off on the salt. Great staff! Very friendly waiter and hostess.

My wife and I had our second dinner here this past weekend. We were not disappointed! The food is inspired, e.g. my entree of clams and crisp pork belly in a wonderful sauce of corn and thinly sliced jalapenos. From the appetizers to dessert every dish delighted. Our service was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. This is a wonderful bistro with a creative menu, a decent wine list including a few half bottles (there could be a few more) and reasonable prices. The atmosphere is a little more modern than a bistro and our table near the bar was a bit nosier than I would have preferred, they could play French music instead of contemporary but these are minor issues. The food is worth frequent visits and we shall return.

I love excellent food!
We can always count on a wonderful eating experience when we come to Bidwell Bistro. My husband and I would love to come regularly but are still recovering financially from the last few years. It is such a treat to have a pretty ambiance mixed with beautiful presentation of the food and fabulous taste!!! I hope to return many times!!!

Consistent but slipping
We were surprised to see that BSB had been sold, this has become one of our favorite restaurants so I hope the new owners make it better and bring it back up to the level it once was.. Food is consistently good, although some of the portions are on the small side. Disappointing on this visit were the wine glasses which had a lot of water spots and the dry bread :) Food and service keep us coming back but it just isn't as good overall as it was.

Love is beautiful eyes
My guest looked sensational in the Bidwell Street Bistro. This special woman enhanced the luncheon experience accompanied by the friendly ambiance, good food and sincere service. I will come back with her, for this visit opened a velvet friendship.

I always enjoy lunch there. It has a nice relaxing feeling!

Exceptional food, Great Prices
Bidwell Street Bistro serves some of the best food anywhere at very reasonable pricing. Prepared using fresh, seasonable ingredients, their dishes are unique & creative in a French bistro style. It's high quality, delicious food, the best meal for the money in town. The owners are friendly and welcoming and the service the same. We've eaten at the French Laundry in Napa, Brassiere Lipp in Paris, among others and this remains one of our favorite restaurants anywhere!
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
As always, Bidwell Street Bistro served a wonderful dinner for Mom and me. We went after seeing the matinee show at the Music Circus downtown. While there are great restaurants downtown. we almost go to the BSB because the food is wonderful, the parking is great and the atmosphere conductive to conversation. We discuss the show, have a great dinner and have a perfect end to our day.

We first went here on our anniversary. When you walked in you KNOW you are in for a special evening. Very welcoming, perfect for any special evening. The food was beyond amazing. We very seldom have appetizers or dessert when we go out. But, I have to tell you, we had it all. The presentation of the food was picture worthy and I am telling you the taste was beyond any words. The Flat Iron steak melts in your mouth. Vegetables are not ordinary. Scrumptious.Desserts are to die for. You do NOT want your meal to end, it is that amazing! Once you dine here, you will continue to go back time and time again. We'll see you there! ENJOY!

Our party of six was treated well and the service was fairly attentive. For the most part, the food was good, too. My mother's steak, though ordered "medium", came out extremely rare. My husband had asked the waiter what pieces of chicken were included in the fried chicken entree. The waiter assured him that it was all white meat. Oddly, when the entree arrived, it was comprised solely of dark meat -- not what my husband wanted. He wanted to send the plate back but since everyone else was eating and he didn't want to throw off the rhythm of the meal, he declined to do so. Meanwhile, he saw numerous plates of the chicken delivered to other tables and they were all dark meat, too. Too bad that the waiter can't tell the difference.

The heirloom tomato gazpacho and fried chicken with fresh corn tasted just like summer

Always a pleasure
My husband and I started dining here shortly after it opened. It was was always a pleasure. When he passed away I needed a place for friends to gather. I asked about the wine tasting room and it was perfect. The restaurant literally took charge of the menu and the beverage service. It was a much needed relief in a time of stress.
7/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Always have had the best food, service, and presentations for over a decade now.
7/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice night out
We had dinner with a friend and enjoyed the service & the meal. The restaurant appears to draw a slightly older crowd many of whom appear to be regulars or repeat customers. We will be back to try more in the future. Our server was great as was the rest of the staff who came around to tend to the table.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
We are so lucky to have BSB in our neighborhood. The menu changes seasonally, the chef is creative, and the staff is super friendly. When I eat someplace where the staff seems happy, I know I'm more likely to have a good experience. It doesn't hurt that we're regulars, but we're regulars because they make us feel welcome and feed us like royalty. Plus they let us bring Miss Gidget.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Dined pre-theater and the service was excellent, our server answered all our questions, allowed us sufficient time to make our selections and remembered who ordered what. The food was incredible, very well prepared and beautifully presented. Plan to go again!

Chef Wendy came up with a great combination of clams and pork belly. Sounds different but tastes great. Glad to see there was a cold soup, gazpacho, on the menu.

Love this restaurant and they make delicious sweetbreads. Their fish is always fresh, varied and served different ways with great sides. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Sacramento area. The only down side to this great place, is they never remember you. We and another couple visit probably once a month and make reservations every time either through Open Table or by phone in one of two names for the last 8 or 9 years. The hostess and/or owner never remember us from one time to the next. A little more personal attention to the regular patrons would be appreciated.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
I absolutely loved anything that I have had here but my only criticism would be that they had a limited menu. The only fish they had on the menu was Sole. I also have to admit that I do prefer hot bread instead of cold bread before the meal starts and theirs was cold. That is just a little thing!!
8/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Have eaten at the Bistro many times over the years, but not recently. Happy to say Chef Wendi has maintained the standard of excellence, and the eclectic menu is full of mouth-watering choices. Friendly efficient service and a wine selection that is varied and contains some hard to find gems at reasonable price points. Great experience all around.

Barely left a crumb
When I first looked over the menu, I was disappointed in the limited number of entree choices. We were willing to try new things, however, and we all loved it. My son ordered the sampler platter appetizer and the duck confit. He almost licked his plates clean. My husband tried the flatbread with steak. Usually he gives me his tomatoes because he's not a fan, but they were so delicious he only gave me one. My daughter played it safe with a Caesar salad, steak and fries. She especially loved the fries. I ordered a house salad and the clam special. The broth reminded me of French onion soup. The dish was divine. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert. Marilyn, our server, was very attentive. It was a nice way to celebrate my birthday.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I were meeting family from WA state for lunch. We knew the general area we needed to find a restaurant and googled a casual dining restaurant in the same center. Bid well Street Bistro was perfect. We couldn't have been happier. We would highly recommend it to friends and family and we will be back to try their dinner, and their Sunday Brunch.

dinner on 8/30/13
my esgarot and shrimp pasta were very bland and flavorless, very disappointing. my friend's cucumber soup and steak were very good. as usual the service was great and the ambience was wonderful as well.

Farewell to Bidwell Street Bistro
We have been going to Bidwell Street Bistro for more than 13 years. The food has always been delicious. We were saddened to find out that Bidwell Street owners sold the business on 8/31/13. We will miss going to Bidwell Street Bistro.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Never disappointed! Imaginative and exciting menu.

Surpassed our expectations
The last time we went, the food and service were just okay. The food and service were great! We will be back.
9/3/2013 5:00:00 PM
Staff from hostess to server to new owner Charlie wished us a happy anniversary. Hubby enjoyed 2 appetizers: tasty, garlicky escargot, and calamari although he would have preferred a spicier dipping sauce. Good glass of cabernet served in mini-carafe made for a generous portion, reasonably priced. We were disappointed in the thin-sliced bread.
Filet served medium as requested; chicken entree was moist and juicy, surrounded by tomato/bread salad, enough for 2+ people, saturated in vinaigrette dressing.
Charlie 'gifted' us with a delicious profiterole with warm bittersweet chocolate sauce to celebrate our anniversary - a nice touch. This is a lovely, white-cloth-napkin restaurant, as good for lunch as for dinner. We'll be back.

Consistently Good Food and Service
I have eaten at Bidwell Street Bistro many times over the years and have always received Good Food and Friendly Service. Can't ask for more than that!
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
enjoyed with friends
We took a couple of friends that were visiting from Europe. It was classy and quiet enough that we could visit for over two hours. Of course it was a weeknight, so I'm not sure it would be the same experience on the weekend. All four of our meals were excellent. Good wine and irresistible desserts topped it off.

The "Bidwell Street Bistro" is a great hideaway that is very modern and upscale for a small Bistro. The tables are set with tablecloths and you are surronded by hardwoods, granite and stylish lighting. The menu is varied with many great and tasty choices to choose from....the waiters and waitesses are very friendly and professional... eager to meet your needs but dont hover as to be distractfull with a romantic senerio...Had a wonderfull time there! I highly reccommend this place. The only downfall I had was trying to find it in a sort of "strip-mall' on my GPS....but that could just be my device....

Bidwell Bistro Exceeds Our Criteria
Our criteria for dining out is to find a place where (1) the food is not only delicious and unique and something we wouldn't fix at home (2) you are able to carry on a conversation with your table mates without raising your voice or leaning towards them to hear, and (3) the servers are attentive and anticipate your needs. Bidwell Bistro exceeded our expectations. It was a very enjoyable dining experience on all counts.

Great service and very good food. We were on a limited time schedule, we had a show to catch, and they accomodated us well.

Enjoyable and Delicious
My wife and I felt well-attended-to by our friendly server. The Mahi Mahi dish I had was wonderful, and my wife loved her Halibut dish. We especially liked the presence of tasty vegetables along with the fish. This was our first time at Bidwell Street Bistro, and we definitely will go there again. It is an enjoyable place for dinner, with delicious food and wonderful service.

Before the show
The only rough spot in our dining experience was there was a longer than expected wait after our friends arrived. We had to ask for our drinks, but then everything seemed to move smoothly and in a timely fashion.
I noted there was an offer for a discount if we had the tickets to prove we were going to a show that evening: we did have tics for Harris Center show. However, we did not have the tickets in possession because they were at will-call.
