Very good for brunch or breakfast.
We were able to get in during the week and didn't even try on the weekend when the line went out the door. The food is excellent.

While I generally visit Sarabeth's during the day and enjoy breakfast type foods, on Monday my grown daughters
called and asked if we could do dinner. We went on line and chose sarabeth's. GREAT MOVE!
We began with a bottle of Proceco and each ordered the pepper crusted yellowtail. Grerat food. great service.great nite

Finishing up the scholastic year and went to brunch with a couple of friends. I went to this place already knowing it would be good. And most certainly it did not disappoint. The service was great--caring but not too in your face buzzing around like a bee. Food was delicious--most definitely food coma worthy. Noise level was not something I recall probably meaning it wasn't too noticable. I remember it was a good enough noise level to stimulate conversation more and not draw from it at all. The main reason I gave it a 4 was because as great as my experience was, I felt it lacked that extra something to make it absolutely stunning. Not sure what it will be in any restaurant but I think you get my drift.

Noisy but Delicious
I love the eggs benedict, and my friend's omelet looked delicious too. Good strong coffee and simple, straightforward brunch fare. Comforting and yummy. Slightly expensive, but no more so than most good restaurants in NYC.
The restaurant itself seemed very noisy, but of course, it was busy. And that's not a bad thing. Better than being empty!
All in all, a nice place to meet somebody for breakfast, brunch or lunch!

Wonderful ambience and helpful too!
The food was excellent, as was the service. They honored our request for a particular type table. Above and beyond that , my husband did not realize he had dropped his credit card after paying the bill. Sarabeth's staff called us on our phone to let us know and held it at the front for us to pick it up. They were very gracious. It is terrific to know that there are people we are so honest and caring.
We highly recommend Sarabeth's!

Relaxed, Enjoyable & Great Food!
We were a party of five and were seated earlier that our reservation. The staff was friendly, accommodating and very professional. Great, affordable drink menu and wines. The guacamole and beef carpaccio appetizers were flavorful. The yellowfin tuna was cooked to perfection (rare), the lobster mac and cheese (plenty of lobster) was tasty and the shrimp risotto delectable. Overall, a great dining experience. Will definitely return.

The perfect breakfast spot
As always, a great place to meet for any kind of breakfast. Food is terrific, it is a comfortable place to be.

Great place to people watch.
Sarabeth's is a neighborhood favorite. While known for it's great brunch, it is a great spot to sit outside with friends and enjoy dinner. The food is fresh, well prepared, and nicely presented. Their are a number of special dishes like the tuna tartare, chicken pot pie, seafood Cobb salad, and an old fashioned lobster roll. Service is good and the people watching is great.

Like the jams...LOVE the restaurant
Sarabeths's delivered! I have been buying her jams for years and had the opportunity to try her restaurant -- all three entrees exceeded expectations but be warned: you WILL want to save room for the yummy deserts.

terrific for lunch
A delicious burger and a big pitcher of tea or lemonade. Perfect summer lunch.

Great Dinner Choices!
We had been to SB for brunch before. We were very pleasantly surprised at all the tempting options for dinner. I had the crab stuffed lobster with baked potato preceded by a green salad. My partner had grilled salmon on asparagus, with a side of steamed spinach. Fortunately, we saved room for dessert. The strawberry shortcake was real, old-fashioned biscuit shortcake with delicious whipped cream and lots of fresh strawberries in their juice. The peach crumble was in its own high-sided, tasty crust, served with vanilla ice cream. Well, you know they're known for their baked goods! And we sat at a two person booth that was off on a side by itself -- the perfect spot!

Excellent Food, Low Key Ambience
My experience at Sarabeth's has always been good. It' s New American with a some southern and Italian influence and even the basics like a chicken dish are done well. The best dinners I have had there have been seafood entrees. The breakfasts and the baked goods are also excellent. I highly recommend the place.

8 Offerings On This Menu I Loved !
Wonderful dinner tonight, my request for a specific area of restaurant was honored graciously. Food was delicios and attractively presented. Wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable from the first moment. I had a bowl of superbly prepared gazpacho, a seafood Cobb salad with plenty of lobster, shrimp and crab, and a warm freshly baked cherry tart for dessert. All were perfect ! My friend had a turkey burger and asked for a special order of grilled onions which was served promptly....................Terrific evening.................a new neighborhood favorite for me !

It may not be as lovely as the Original location, but Sarabeths West is a charming spot that fits into the diverse offerings on its block. The food was everything you expect from Sarabeths-comfort food done upscale. And our server was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Wonderful food, great service
Tried this on a whim and so glad we did! The drinks were far too expensive, but the food and service was wonderful. Friendly staff, non intrusive. Roast chicken was succulent and a great blend of flavors. Lobster Mac was a little bland on the seasoning side, but still delicious. Music was the perfect volume, seats were comfy, and decor was simple and elegant. Overall I would come back in a heartbeat! Can't wait to try brunch

Can't Lose Choice
Lobster stuffed crab was delish. Spicy tuna tartare was wonderful. Turkey burger was good size and in good combination with the other ingredients on the bun. However, it was a little over cooked. This may have been my fault and the waiter's as we never discussed that I would have preferred medium rare. Instead it was medium well.
Prix fix menu is a great value. Don't hesitate to go here. It is a solid place with very nice ambiance and great service. The main attraction is the food, which is creative and delicious.
7/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
excellent as always
I love to dine at sarabeth's when i visit NYC. the quality is still as good as ever. I will be back.

Great eggs and sandwiches
I chose to eat here after going to the Children's museum of Manhattan. It's close by and the food is good and not overpriced. My family enjoyed the omelette and crab cake sandwich. These were delicious and done very well. The bread pudding we had was mushy and seemed undercooked. Not our idea of a bread pudding. Overall I liked the place for breakfast/lunch, so I would go back for that, but not for the dessert.
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Enjoyed a lovely brunch. Despite arriving half an hour late & increasing our party by one, we were seated immediately. Food was excellent & service good. Did get a bit noisy, but look forward to returning.
7/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
I have been here both for brunch and dinner and both times were very good experiences. Food is very high quality and carefully prepared. I enjoyed the seafood salad which did not skimp on the lobster and at brunch a personal pot of iced coffee was a lovely touch. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fine meal on the upper west side.

The food was delicious. We were a group of five seated at a comfortable table and we had no problem hearing each other. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

I always come back to Sarabeth's when in New York. Wonderful place for brunch. Try the 4 flowers juice - yum! The jams are always great, and almost everything on the brunch menu. The potatoes aren't the best, though, if you're a breakfast potato fan like my husband. And it has become a bit pricey, but then so have other comparable places in NYC unfortunately. Enjoy!
8/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely food and service.
A usual, Sarabeth's food was delicious. I ordered a salad--perfect. Fresh chicken and vegetables. Waitress went to the trouble to make he a cafe au lait which is not on the menu. Only drawback was ithe noise level---quite high, but quieted down after the lunch rush and we weren't hustled out of the restaurant. I'll be back.

Long Live Sarabeth's West
I wish the lines for brunch were not so brutal or I would go more often. This trip was for dinner after taking my two nieces to see "Lion King". There was no place near Times Square that I wanted to spend time in (except perhaps Angus Mcindoe and the prices there are just a nudge too high). Sarabeth's is not an inexpensive place but the menu offers many options and the atmosphere is less frenetic. Also, when I think "kid friendly" in Manhattan I remember how Sarabeth was out in front of all the other places in being a place that felt welcoming. The tomato cream soup is still addictive. Cookies are still my favorite dessert because I can share.
For years the service has been less than I'd like but I never had a server with a bad attitude.

LOVELY BREAKFAST ON UPPER WEST SIDE
Sarabeth's is a fabulous place for breakfast or brunch. The food is lovely, perfectly cooked and the coffee is rich and provides a perfect start to the day.

great find in NYC
Just a great all around place to dine. The wait staff were all friendly. The food was great. It is hard to find a restaurant in NYC with reasonable prices and get great food and service.

We started with the freshly made guacamole & homemade potato chips-superb! Next, signature creamy tomato soup with grilled cheese on pretzel bread- scrumptious! Topped off with a four berrie mimosa-a perfect evening. Fabulous food, service and location.

Lunch on the Upper West Side
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch with 5 guests. Food was lovely. Service was very nice. Maitre'd was extremely helpful. A wonderful experience, as always. I've been going to Sara Beth's since she was on Amsterdam Avenue between 79th & 80th and she made shirred eggs on the cappuccino machine!

Breakfast as it used to be
A very lucky NY find, close to our hotel. Friendly, courteous but not over-attentive waitress. Terrific eggs/breakfast staples. For the price in NY, probably hard to top. We'll be back there on trips.

We had a wonderful dinner. There were seven of us and everything was perfect from the seating to the food and service. I would definitely go again.

great prefix dinner
There was 3 courses. The soup was a large portion. The lobster with stuffed crabmeat was a lot of food. the main dish also included a large potato. There was a large choice of desserts to choose from. It was a most enjoyable time.

Just off the plane
We arrived in NYC and headed straight for Sarabeths with luggage in tow. The food, service and atmosphere started out New York weekend off right.

Not so good for meetings
Love Sarabeth's. Food is good and plentiful. Staff is efficient and attentative without being overbearing. However, the lunch crowd was a bit noisy. I wasn't expecting it as I was having a business meeting. Sat in the back and realize it might have just been bad placement for a meeting that involved important discussion. Would ask for a quieter table, possibly up front in the future.

No note of Birthday :(
While I greatly enjoyed the food and ambiance of Sarabeth's, this night was a very special occasion for my party and it wasn't treated as such. In the past, when I've made reservations for this one night that my mom spends in NYC to celebrate her birthday, I made a special note of it in my reservation and the restaurant either comped a dessert or at least acknowledged the special occasion being celebrated with a candle?
Unfortunately, Sarabeth's made no mention of the birthday we were celebrating, and we awkwardly ordered a dessert to split among the three of us, while I continued to try to make eye contact with the waitress to no success.
Beautiful place, but this was disappointing for a restaurant with such a classy reputation.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Surprisingly good restaurant
As someone who had often visited the Sarabeth's near my son's school (Hunter College Elementary through High School), but only for many brunches, I've been surprised at the excellence of the food at dinner during two recent visits to the Upper West Side venue. This is a very pleasant, quiet dining experience, with excellent waitstaff. But the food is surprisingly fine, with a recent trip including pork chop with fried gnocci, my vegetarian date enjoying pumpkin tortellini in brown butter with spinach. Desserts really are close to first-rate, especially the chocolate pudding. This is by no means an inexpensive restaurant, but I'd rate it high for value, good for an extended dinner experience.

Go Sarabeth's For Dinner
This brunch hotspot actually serves up quite a dinner as well — some of the food was served colder than ideal, but the taste was supreme.

Great dining experience!
Service and food was excellent! We had the creamy tomato soup and grilled cheese and the seafood salad. Everything was excellent and our waitress was Katie. She was charming and we will defibiely return!

Great place, slow service
Great selection. Everything we ordered was great. I had the seafood salad. Very generous portion of lobster.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice but noisy and chilly
The restaurant has a great breakfast menu and the eggs are very good. We did not expect it to be so busy and loud on a Monday morning, though! The place is nice and has a cozy look but the tables close to the windows are very chilly, making the dining experience in winter a bit uncomfortable, as you have to keep your coat on. The food gets cold quickly too. Perhaps a table further inside might have been warmer, but the restaurant was very noisy.
11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
We enjoyed our family Thanksgiving dinner. The staff was pleasant, efficient and generously provided us with all our requests.
We would happily return.

Overall, enjoyed our dining
Overall, enjoyed our dining experience on Thanksgiving Day. There were sufficient choices and ample, delectable servings. The wait staff could not have been more cheerful or helpful. They really made our day! It was a bit off-putting to be directed to wait outside (in the frigid air) until the dot of 1pm, the time of the first seating for dinner.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great Thanksgiving meal
This was one of the best Thanksgiving meals I've ever had. Our whole family loved it. This restaurant has consistent quality.

We had a lovely dinner - traditional Thanksgiving but with a twist - excellent cocktails, and our server couldn't have been sweeter. We left full and happy.

A friend took me to Sarabeth's
A friend took me to Sarabeth's two years ago while I was visiting from California. I had the most delicious French Toast. It was definitely on my list of places to eat on my trip back to New York. The food was just as I remembered, I highly recommend this place!!
