Nice place on main
I had a great time. Good food, and fresh fish! Yum.

Love this place. Been here several times and can't wait to go back. Food is top-notch and service is always great. Bartenders are very accomodating.

Love Tuesday nights "Battle of the Chefs"! Great quiet evening - so nice to be able to have a wonderful meal in a quiet environment!

We enjoyed the wine and atmosphere
We enjoyed the wine and atmosphere but our crab cakes were a little disappointing. They were about the size of a thick hockey puck but just didn't seem to have good crab flavor. We both felt the same. They were packed hard and think they would have been better if lighter and fluffy texture.

High quality dining
Really Excellent food, good service, professional waiters. In a college town, this place has an older crowd, professionals and faculty more than students.

Knowledgeable and friendly
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great food and wine to match.

This restaurant has some of
This restaurant has some of the most creative dishes I've seen anywhere in this area. Not only do they go out on a culinary limb, everything is well executed. Service was great too. When the bottle of wine we ordered wasn't available, they substituted a more expensive one at the lower price. And, it was excellent.

My girlfriend and I went to
My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant not knowing anything about it. We were in town for the weekend. It did not disappoint. The waiter was very knowledgable and really provided great service. The food was great - we only did salads and shared a fondue appetizer, but everything was fresh and tasty.

I would have given the food
I would have given the food 4 stars, but the pierogies were ice cold in the middle. Other than that, everything else was delicious. The cheese plate was beautiful and very ample for 3 people for a starter. We all loved our entrees: hangar steak, filtet mignon , and the fish special. Will definitely be back when we are in Newark.

A foodie find in Newark Delaware.
From fern fiddlehead risotto to pear infused honey and bacon flavored ice cream you won't have a boring meal here. Serving sizes are small but the flavor is big. Come with a sense of adventure and a willingness to try something new and you won't be disappointed. The service is excellent; your server will help guide you to a perfect meal experience for you.

Fantastic Romatic Evening...
The atmosphere, service, food, menu selection all were outstanding. Great wine list. The standard menu selection and special were so fresh. Like the garden and farm were right out of the back of the kitchen. Service was warm and polite and attentive throughout the evening. Had a fabulous time and would recommend going back for special occasions and just a quiet neighborhood night out.

Enjoyed Mother's Day brunch here, but lack of kids' cups (plastic with a lid) was surprising considering it was Mother's Day. Not exactly a place for kids but they accomodated my kids nicely. Great food and wine, although a bit pricey. Impressive wine list and flights were available.

Creative Tasty Menu
I have eaten at the Stone Balloon Winehouse several times & they never cease to deliver creative and tasty food. The freshness of the ingredients and the flavor combinations are amazing. For appetizers try the chicken & waffles or the pork belly. Both are absolutely delicious. I am a crab cake snob, so I was wary about ordering the crab cakes (so used to fantastic Maryland crab cakes) but I have to admit that they were very good, and the portion so generous that I had one for lunch the next day. The wine choices are plentiful, if a little pricey, but it's a real treat to be able to get some of these wines by the glass. Highly recommend the Stone Balloon to anyone looking for a superior dining experience in the Newark area.

College Town Gem
The Stone Balloon Winehouse is only steps away from the University of Delaware campus on a very pretty but very busy street. The total dining experience is wonderful as the food selections and wine pairings are expertly done. There is also a very nice beer list as well as featured cocktails. Everyone in our party was impressed with the food and service and I highly recommend the Stone Balloon as an evening destination.
Be advised, thought, that parking is a challenge even though we were there mid-week but this place is well worth the effort.

I thought the main course was delicious, the waiter very social able, friendly and he was very knowledgeable when he was discussing the wine selections.
However, I did not care for the dessert. I cannot remember the name of it but it was round balls which had chocolate and peanut butter in it. I thought it would be soft and yummy. Rather it was hard and I felt it was over cooked.

Excellent Food, Portions Excessive
We enjoyed an excellent dinner at The Stone Balloon. Our reserved table was ready as expected and we were greeted promptly. We enjoyed the brie fondue, veal schnitzel, steak, and despite the quantity of food ordered, I just had to try the bacon-wrapped dates with a chile-pistachio sauce, which proved to be out of this world. The veal was served with a cabbage and potatoes that were cooked to perfection. The only notes that could have been perfected were the portion sizes, which were enormous; I would have been uncomfortable finishing the dish even had I refrained from the dates or dessert, and the desserts, a snickers cheesecake and strawberry creme brulee with champagne strawberries and whipped cream were very good but not stellar.

Great food and service
As usual, Great food and service. Some of the best food in town!!

Best food on Main St
16 mile tap house has, hands down, the best quality food on Main Street. You may think Gelato or Iron Hill have quality food, but this is far beyond. They obtain local foods and get local organic beef. All food is artfully done on the plates to show real care. The food comes out in perfect portions so one does not feel over full at all. We shared an app, got an entree, drink, and dessert each, and I was not over full. I was so satisfied with the ambiance and courtesy of the staff. This was the best meal I have ever had on Main Street...and quite likely the best food I have ever had at a restaurant. The quality of the food is worth what you are paying. Please support this great restaurant!

Brunch was wonderful. Butterscotch donuts crusted in bacon were out of this world.
Our server was friendly and prompt. Drinks were always full. Brunch items were priced well and portions were nice.
We usually bring large groups for brunch or dinner and will most definitely return!

Great experience, as always!
Went for brunch with a friend and had a wonderful dining experience, as usual. I was curious how the food and menu would be after the transition from Stone Balloon to 16 Mile, and was happy to see not much has changed. The brunch menu was excellent and the food was amazing. The server was fabulous and we really enjoyed our meal.

If you love crab cakes you'll love 16 Mile Taphouse. The crab cakes were loaded with crab! They were light and flavorful. The beer list was extensive. Of course 16 Mile beer was the only one on tap, but there were enough choices to make any beer drinker happy.
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great beer selection
Great beer selection, small menu but good assortment of food types: from pub food to foodie/veggie entrees. Service was knowledgeable and quick, good ambience for couples or groups, reasonable prices.

Lunch with an old friend
I met an old friend here for lunch who I had not seen for many years. The ambience was delightful and the noise level was quite low so we could spend time talking. The food was excellent and the 16 mile beer was great complement to the pulled pork sandwich. I will return soon.

Just had dinner at the 16 Mile Tap House. After reading some downer reviews, wasn't sure what to expect. Pleasantly surprised. You can't do better than their corn soup....Outstanding. The smoked soup was really intense. and we can't wait to have it again. . I had the salad containing beets and brussel sprouts. It was excellent . Hubby had crab cakes which were humongous. He said they were almost all crab meat, and hardly any filler. He loved them. They had been recommended by our neighbors and we totally agree. Only the lemon sorbet was below expectations. The waiter mentioned that the menu is about to change to better match the customer's desires. Hope they keep the soups.....I think its going to be a hit with all of us locals....

Not your typical Pub food
Our waiter was very helpful. Of course, the beer was good. There was also a nice selection of wine. Our Duck Confit appetizer was great. My bison burger was delicious, juicy and cooked perfectly medium rare. My husband chose the special, scallops and risotto. Again, very good. This is a great place for foodies!

Great dinner and huge beer menu
The food was delicious! We asked for recommendations for the server and he said Keg Fries were fantastic. He was right!

WHO KNEW HOW GD BRUSSEL SPROUTS ARE
My meal was suppose to come with green beans. Imagine my dismay as a long despiser of brussel sprouts when my meal came to the table with them. I must have had a look of horror on my face because my daughters boyfriend asked if I was ok. I said yes, but I hate brussel sprouts. The waiter came over and was very apologetic. They had run out of green beans, but said he could trade them for anything else. So I looked him and said "you know what? I have always told my kids that they should at least try something they thought they didn't like every so often. Our taste buds change ." So I took a bite. WOW, they were amazing!! they had been roasted with some EVOO and some seasoning. I can't wait to try them home now too.

The food was unique and we loved every bit of our dinner! All small details were thought of by the chef. Our waitress was super friendly and made for a wonderful experience. Lovely atmosphere added to the night! Needless to say we will be back!

good food. good beer. good service. If you go to a tap house, drink their beer, don't order a rolling rock and a miller high life. You haven't discovered anything. You're not cooler for it. You crave attention. It's a desperate call to have people look at you. It screams of emotional instability. You're better than that. Ordering a miller high life at a brewery is like asking for an old banana at an apple orchard in October. There is fresh beer coming out of the wall and you want something that's been shipped across the country, probably a few months ago. That doesn't seem very "hip."

The service was great and so was the food. I had the salmon, and it was excellent. My date had the scallops and he was equally pleased with his meal. Very generous portions too. I was also impressed with the wide range of beers they have. I think the waiter said they had 130 varieties. I recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a romantic evening.

great food, service, home brew
All good here: we had grilled pork chop, bison burger and casserole salad as well as home brewed draft beers
Everything was tremendous. Friendly, fast wait staff too.

Good food, confusing beer menu.
Our group enjoyed the ambiance, the food (small plates)was upscale casual and good. They wereout of several of the Bert's, there was discrepancy between the old beer menu and the new one. That was a little frustrating. We'll give it another try.

Simple menu and great beer!
We've been itching to try the 16 Mile Taphouse since they re-branded from the Stone Balloon Winehouse this past year. Great atmosphere. More casual, Flat Screen TV's everywhere showing sports, great ambiance. Huge beer list but limited draft selection, only 5-6 on tap, all 16 Mile beers. Huge bottle beer and wine selection. Limited menu but still great options. We had the Meat and Cheese board to start, a Stone Balloon Winehouse staple, pricey for meat and cheese but delicious. Then had the Filet tips cheeseteak and Bison Burger, both top notch, delicious. Finished it off with Hot Lava Chocolate Cake, awesome. 4 beers, appetizer, two entrees and dessert for around $75. Not too shabby! Will go back again.
RIP Stone Balloon :(
