We went to Bann for lunch
We went to Bann for lunch before going to a nearby theater Sunday Matinee. We had little experience with Korean food and looked at the various online reviews before we came. The restaurant was not particularly full. Our fellow patrons contisted of family goups and some solo diners. There was only one waiter, though busy, was most pleasant and quite helpful showing us how the bbq worked and describing the side dishes. We ordered and shared the cellophane noodles with meat to begin with and then shared a "small" sized plate of two types of meat, shrimp, onions, and red pepper to bbq. For the two of us, bbqing our meal was fun but somewhat labor intensive. The food was delicious and it was worth the effort.

Delicious upscale Korean food.
Authentic flavors with a modern twist. I loved the ddukbokki, the sea bass kimbab roll, and the salmon bbq. Everything was yummy and the service is always great. Looking forward to my next visit!

Nice spot with good food.
This was my first time doing Korean BBQ and I loved it. The marinated ribeye was delicious and easy to cook. It was fun to cook the food as you ate and delicious. I will be going back.

We dine at Bann several times a year. The food is consistently good, if you know what you are ordering. Korean food, as with many ethnic dishes, is prepared with a variety of spices and seasonings, with varied degrees of "hot." We shared a Dol Sot Bi Bap (hot sauce on the side, because to me it is really spicy) and short ribs. Both were excellent. The service was excellent, as usual. I would suggest asking the kitchen to prepare the the dish unless you are expert at barbecuing at the table.

Upscale Korean BBQ!
I always take my friends here before Broadway shows. The flavors are authentic Korean in an upscale setting. Go for the bbq cooked at your table, the meats are marinated deliciously and every bite is delicious!

Good happy hour at the bar and good food at the restaurant.

I was very upset when Woo Lae Oak closed down. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out this was their sister restaurant with a very similar menu. The host even came from Woo Lae Oak! The glass noodles are the absolute best. You can cook your food on your own personal hibachi. But after that novelty wears off, you can just have the kitchen cook your food

Bann never disappoints. The
Bann never disappoints. The food is always fresh and well-prepared. They offer many dishes beyond usual Korean fare. We were running late for the theater this visit and they made sure our party of four was in and out in less than an hour without compromising food or service.

Upscale Korean cuisine. The pork belly was divine. Kind of noisy for my taste, but the service was excellent.

Everything was perfect!
Our table was trying to avoid the meat dishes. And we ordered Vegetable pancake, Japchae, Eel, and scallop BBQ dish. My guests loved all of them. I was so happy.

There are variety of Korean food and BBQ was very good. The portion is generous.
No kids' menu though my kids ate rice and kal bi.
The service was good as well.

This is food-atainment in a classy sense. The Korean BBQ tables are sleek and the food is extremely fresh, beautifully presented and healthy as well.

fun and tasty
If you're looking for something different with high quality food in the theatre district, Bann is a great option. Korean barbecue with nicely marinated fish (salmon, shrimp) and sides. There are meat options but we stuck with the fish. Beautiful room, great service. Will definitely return.

The food was great, the ambiance was great. I would go again for sure.

Excellent food and generous portions, esp considering it was the restaurant week menu. I would definitely recommend it.

Restaurant Week Review
Went here for lunch during Restaurant Week. Had the crepe for an appetizer - luscious and well worth it! The entree was ok, personally, I think this is overpriced, but the dessert was to die for! The banana sobayon was the perfect end to the meal. It looked absolutely gorgeous like a cloud and it tasted light yet creamy and so satisfying.

Great upscale Korean before a show!
Whenever I have visitors going to a show on Broadway, I always take them to Bann. They have delicious Korean food with authentic flavors and ingredients, in an upscale setting worthy of representing Manhattan dining!
I have been at least 6 times and the service has always been excellent, with the food being served quickly and the staff ready to help you, explain the cuisine, and refill your drinks!
I always recommend the ddukboki to start, and the eel on hot stones is amazing. The bbq meat is succulent and deliciously marinated for you to cook just the way you like it!
I have never had room left over for dessert, but I have seen others looking beautiful and delicious!

I've been wanting to go to
I've been wanting to go to Bann for a long time and finally decided to go during NYC's restaurant week. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised at how varied the menu was. Not only was the food scrumptious, the portions were generous as well. I would definitely go back to Bann again and try their regular menu.

great intro to Korean BBQ
this is a fun place for intro to Korean BBQ. Not as many banchan options as i am used to (4) however the meat was well seasoned and the kids had a great time cooking their own food! The lychee martinis were great!
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice theater district restaurant. Somewhat upscale. Barbecue (cook it yourself) was nice. Black cod was also very good. Appetizer crab rolls very good. Pork belly bun good but too much bread (i guess that what buns are). Banana 'pudding' desert was very good but carrot cake was a little dry.

Great food at Bann
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Bann. Our waiter patiently helped us to navigate the menu items in case we were unfamiliar with Korean food. Our meals were wonderful and the portions were more than generous. I grilled my salmon and vegetables easily on a tabletop grill. A unique dining experience. The restaurant's decor is a beautiful mix of modern with Buddhas and Asian art. There were so many other dishes that we'd like to try; so we're definitely going to visit Bann again.

Great food/service....for a price.
Good but prices are too high. Worth it for occasions.
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent food, well-seasoned, cool "do it yourself" experience. This was my second visit, and both were very good!

Appetizers + desserts = fantastic
Bann is a popular place, full and noisy even on midweek nights. The service, even during the busiest time, is excellent and efficient. We ordered several appetizers at random, and each was simply fantastic. The main courses were not bad either but somehow did not rise to the level set by appetizers. But then desserts came and raised the bar again. We would certainly recommend approaching this as a "tapas" experience - load on appetizers, skip the mains, and don't forget the dessert. Overall, an outstanding meal, no less.

Great fresh food. I recommend
Great fresh food. I recommend to our Asia teams with they visit NY and they are always pleased. We love the Korean barbeque becuase it's a allows the conversation to flow and you to enjoy a fun experience in cooking your own food. The table next to us noticed how much we were having and in the middle of their dinner they decided to add the barbeque to their order.
I highly recommend to anyone that enjoys fresh food, no processed foods!!

A very complete Korean menu,
A very complete Korean menu, outstanding service and lovely ambience. Certainly a step above in most ways from the average Korean restaurant. For newcomers to Korean cuisine, or less adventurous diners, the Korean bbq dishes can be prepared in the kitchen as well as on the grill set into each table, although the adventure of grilling your own is a good part of the fun.
8/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Visited Bann for a long lunch with two old friends. We were greeted and seated promptly and pleasantly in a pretty setting. Our meal was from a special lunch menu with a small selection of very good choices. (Special kudos for the Ke Sal Mari appetizer and the Banana Sabayon dessert). After lunch we stayed for quite a while just chatting and never felt rushed to get up and leave. Although it was mid afternoon and a quiet time, some other spots would have rushed us out. This was my first time at Bann, certainly not my last.

Traditional Korean, upscale setting
Had another great Korean bbq meal with friends here last weekend. Got the Kimchi pajjun, ddukbokki, salmon bbq and shrimp bbq for 3 people and left stuffed! Always love the food here, even the salad!! Will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

Good food, novel service
I love Bann. The food is always good and the idea of korean bbq is something I've always thought was awesome. It is something that's rare to find in the city, although there's two other establishments that offer it. They all do it different though and I'll definitely be going back here.
9/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
I have eaten at other Korean BBQs but nothing compares to Bann. The shrimp, beef and chicken were all deliciious.

The Best Korean Barbecue
Having understood that Bann is run by the same group as Woo Lae Oak, we came with expectations that it would be similar, since Woo Lae Oak has closed down in NYC. We are glad to say that we had one of the most enjoyable evening, with good and attentive service and great food.

A Neighborhood Trear
We live in this neighborhood and love Bann. The food is excellent, fresh, and well prepared and presented. The service is always friendly. We have been using a Living Social coupon and that makes it all that much better.

Great food!!! Went on restaurant week, excellent service, friendly and smiley.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went to Bann for Korean restaurant week. We had no idea that it was there even though we go to the ballys right next to it. The food was good and had a very big portion size for the prefixe menu. The appetizers are delish aswellas the desserts. The ice creams are served on a block of ice which was real interesting. Overall, the ambience was great. The service was fantastic and they dont bother you so much. Will definitely come here again!

Much more than Korean barbecue
Bann is more than good food -- it's also a good time. You can choose from a large menu of items prepared in the kitchen, or you can order your meat, fish, or chicken raw and cook it on the barbecue grill on your table. We did both. The food prepared in the kitchen was very good, and the food we cooked ourselves added an element of fun to the evening.
The service was very attentive and helpful.
The prices were very reasonable -- and we felt that the portions were large enough to share.

Consistently great food. Fun to grill at the table together

Bann is Best
We come to Broadway for shows 2 to 3 times a year. Bann is always part of the equation. One of our favorites.

I entertained guests from Washington, D.C. we were all very pleased

Bann is great as usual!
I come to Bann fairly frequently because it is simply the best upscale Korean bbq. This time I tried the squid and eggplant tempura appetizer and it was incredibly delicious. It comes in a sweet and spicy chili sauce that is good to the last bite, and the squid is tender and delicious under the light and fluffy tempura batter. Oh yeah, and it's deep fried. Add to that one order of the salmon bbq and my husband and I left stuffed and happy.
I will be back!

Enjoyed our pre-theatre dinner
Enjoyed our pre-theatre dinner and the wait staff's attentiveness, given a tight timeframe for us. Main courses are very large and we over-ordered. Didn't need to have a main for each person in our group of four and two appetizers in addition. Wish we had known that the entrees are so plentiful.

Our first time eating Korean
Our first time eating Korean barbecue.. The server was so helpful in picking options to have everything was so tasty. The scallop with the egg batter crust was great !! What a great experience! Can't wait to return!!

We took in a show next door
We took in a show next door and set up a reservation at Bann for right after, for 5 people. We were seated right away, it was not crowded or noisy. The staff, particualrly our waiter was excellent and attentive. We've eaten at many other Korean restaurants before and the side dishes that are brought out was very poor, especially for the price. They only brought out radish strips, kimchi, and cucumber. There was no egg, spicy crab, fish, bean sprouts, alfalfa, etc like in many other places. We ordered the soup as well and that was delicious. The food was excellent, ambiance, and service, but they should have more dishes with different sides to pick from, given the amount they charge. The Soju Lemonade is a MUST TRY! Spent $265 for 5 people.

A fun pre-theatre meal!
We really enjoyed the Korean BBQ! The marinade was very flavorful, and beef, shrimp, and salmon were very fresh. Grilling at the table was a hoot for our whole family.

Enjoyed our Thanksgiving night!!!
It's a very nice restaurant. Food was delicious and the service was great. Just a bit expensive. We are regular customers there and will be back again!!!

Delicious food, great service
The title says it all. The food here was absolutely delicious. We had the filet mignon and the duck and both were without a doubt the best I have ever had. You grill the meat on your table, so you can choose exactly how well-done you want it.
Additionally, the service was excellent -- someone came around every 5-10 minutes to refill our water and the waiters were very attentive to our needs at all times.
I highly recommend Bann!
