Went for dinner on a weeknight
Went for dinner on a weeknight and we were quickly seated. Appetizers were brought out right away. Main courses were very good. I had the gnocchi which was delicious and very nicely presented.

I chose Beacon Hill Bistro
I chose Beacon Hill Bistro for a group of four, two of whom had not been there before, of us to meet for lunch. I knew they'd all be happy, and they were. The food writer among us said nothing about the food [we had a lot of catching up to do], but I noticed she cleaned both her plates. Solicitous service; bright convivial atmosphere; excellent food (and coffee, important to me). Divine frites. Love Beacon Hill Bistro!

Nice neighborhood gem - Beacon Hill
Had a really nice meal here during restaurant week, delicious mussels to start, followed by a great risotto and a yummy honey comb panna cotta...service was excellent and the ambiance was energetic and reminded me of a proper french bistro...I would definitely come back! Perfect location too, right on Charles Street in Beacon Hill!

We enjoyed Restaurant Week
We enjoyed Restaurant Week as we have in the past. The Semolina Crusted Haddock was perfectly prepared. The fish was fresh and moist with a very nice crispy crust, and the tender baby beets were delicious. The Buttermilk Panna Cotta with honeycomb and caraway brittle was such a sweet ending to a lovely evening with good friends.

I was very disappointed with
I was very disappointed with the attitude the wait staff had at welcoming us. It was as though they rushed us at every course and were annoyed we were there so late, although they were the ones to push late our reservation claiming it would be difficult to seat an extra person...in what was an empty restaurant.
I expected far better.

Very reliable neighborhood
Very reliable neighborhood favorite. For all meals. And a drink. Very good food. Well intentioned, good to very good service. And, good value. Can sometimes be a little noisy, but some tables are more out of the way.

Could Be Paris
This is a perfect spot for dining, with the glories of Charles Street, and the Boston Common and Park just around the corner.
Feels, and tastes, like a spot in Paris. Lovely people on the staff.

Food was good but not outstanding. The desserts were by far the highlight of the meal.

Stood Up & Happy
The Bistro could not have been more welcoming when I arrived on the first eve of my move into the neighborhood from London to report that I had been stood up by an ailing guest. Both the hostess and the waiter were both exceptionally brilliant in seating me and treating me with the best possible service....and at the best table in the restaurant! - rare, very rate! I was immensely impressed and will return time and time again......alone, with a partner and with business guests!! Five stars all the way!!!!!

A neighborhood gem
Beautiful food at an affordable price in a city where eating out can be pricey. Great service and the kitchen knows how to make a beautiful meal.

Have dined here several times for Brunch and it's always delicious! The french toast with sauteed apples is amazing! Also had one of the best Bloody Mary's here. Excellent service, attentive without being rushed.

A Dependable Treat
When you visit the Beacon Hill Bistro I know that I will enjoy a memorable dining experience! The menu is clever and creative with an occasional bow to the traditional. The Beacon Hill Bistro is indeed a brilliant neighborhood gem!!!

Visit to Beacon Hill
Excellent wine - really good prosecco and wonderful pinot noir. We had starters and mains - both of which were beautifully cooked. Not too expensive!

Delicious Birthday dinner
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. They make almost everything right there, including duck liver foie gras and gravlax. We ordered a red bourgogne and it was also divine. The Kitchen always sends special treats, on the house, out to the guests. The chef even came out to wish the b-day girl happy birthday and deliver a special tomato/mozzarella "amuse-bouche". This is a great place for a special occasion, but not so fancy that you wouldn't go there any night of the week.

Great Beacon Hill restaurant
I visited this restaurant with 2 friends that I meet in Boston each summer. We had been to Beacon Hill Bistro once before (4 years ago), and I suggested we try the place again. I have to say it was a great choice as the overall experience was outstanding. From the very friendly (and knowledgeable) waiter, to the food and atmosphere - everything was better than expected. The appetizers were portioned just right to start the meal, and weren't too heavy or overpowering. The entrees were delivered very soon after the appetizers were finished so there was no long wait between courses. We all ordered something different and sampled from each others' plates to really enjoy what the restaurant had to offer. I know we'll be back again soon.

What a surprise!
I love restaurant week for this reason- I went here mainly because of the location being so close to the tourist places I was showing my sister . What we got was great service, perfectly prepared food & a special memory.
The food: highly recommend the heirloom tomato gazpacho for a first course: simple yet a complex flavor that lingered- perfect
The pan-encrusted haddock was cooked just right - it was served with wild mushrooms & a corn purée. I wasn't sure how I was going to like it - & lived the combination of flavored & it was very attractive presentation
Dessert- recommend the citrus roulade with pistachio- terrific for a summer day. I'll be going back !

We returned here to celebrate our 2 year anniversary having eaten here on our first date.
Starting with oysters and a baby potato hash of some sort we were very pleased that the oysters were well cleaned, full bellied, well described, and fresh.
For entrees I opted for the pork shoulder which could be described as bacon's venerable grandfather. My partner enjoyed the duck confit considerably and we finished with a Mexican Coffee.
The executive chef introduced himself at the end and left us feeling very taken care of.

Recommended Boston Dinner
Our dining experience at Beacon Hill Bistro was generally positive. The food and wine were great. The only down side was related to the very cramped seating.

BHB is not new to us and it has changed since last there. Menu was varied and has many options! It was perfect and the service was outstanding.

Nice surprise on Beacon Hill
The choice of small and large plates was a nice addition. Everything was very tasty and appropriate size portion too. Nice wine list. The service was warm and professional. We will return

Just like home
On a recent visit to Boston, we happened upon the Beacon Hill Bistro. It was a refreshing find and rivaled the fresh, homemade and tasty foodie restaurant pics in our Pacific Northwest. After trying several starters, entrees and sides, the four of us chose the duck with fennel back, sunnyside up egg on roasted potatoes and beet terrine as our favorites. And there was the homemade bread. Very reasonably priced for a sweet dining experience with cloth napkins...Yum

It's a great place for get
It's a great place for get together with a friend (or two).
We always start with hummus followed by ether soup or salad (or both).
The soup served that day was lentil soup- it was delicious, though I didn't care much for the cream.
I'm glad I ordered it on the side.
Overall it was a great experience -as usual.

Nice restaurant, will return.
Nice variety of small plates and large plates. Salads were definitely large enough for two though server didn't think so when asked.
Scallops, brisket and beet terrine salad were particularly good. House smoked lamb rack was more like spare ribs than the rib chops expected. Bill for four was on the high side, probably because we had six glasses of wine by the glass of unknown cost (we didn't ask, had server choose) rather than a bottle from their wine list-next time we'll do that differently. Server was very attentive in a nice way. Restaurant is small scale with tables close together, white table cloth, candle lit at night, very attractive - weren't sure what to expect as they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice location on Charles St.

My husband and I were in Boston
My husband and I were in Boston for a conference and looking for a nice, neighborhood restaurant in Beacon Hill. We loved this restaurant and will eat here again on a return trip.

The bar has a cool stained glass background, the bar tender was fantastic, the food was great, it was an overall great experience. I highly recommend this place.

nice place for Saturday dinner... The food is as good as one would expect; nothing disappointed, no wow factor either. The restaurant is in a beautiful location, and is super clean, and quiet unlike many deafening loud or crushed together bistro's where the diners either side of you are part of your conversation. A pleasant background buzz, but easy to hold a conversation. Service... I actually didn't notice, which means it was great. It is a combination of these things, with a reasonable price, that will draw me back again. This isn't a great, "but" restaurant. There are no "but"s to complain about.

Charles Street gem
Had a very delicious dinner at Beacon Hill Bistro. The food was creatively prepared and very tasty. Our server noted the options of ordering from their "small plates" menu or choosing an entree. Although I had an entree, the option to have small plates always interests me -- that way I get to try several things! And I will definitely go back for that reason. The Wellfleet oysters were totally fresh and the scallops were just right. Yummy!

Friends for Dinner
We have gone with just the 2 of us and we have recently taken larger groups. The service was very good and I like that there were enough really good choices - not 3 pages of a menu. Good organic menu! Have had 3 different servers recently and each of them has been great. Nice vibe

Authentic bistro food and feel
Always a good choice. A neighborhood place for grown ups. The menu offers the opportunity to put together a meal from small dishes or to eat a serious main course. The steak and frites is a great choice.

This is a neighborhood bistro where the kitchen knows the importance of sourcing ingredients, blending flavors and presentation. The menu is always a bit more adventuresome than most.
