Dinner at Equinox is a great evening. Every last detail is flawless and the service is impeccable. My highest recommendation to those looking for a memorable experience. The risotto fritters are not to be missed!

Another great meal.
We have eaten at Equinox for all the years it had been located on Connecticut Ave.
All told we have had dinners for pre-theater, special occasions, family events, and
just to a avoid cooking. The most recent dinner was just after a Sunday matinee.
We have never had a disappointing meal and this one was again excellent. The
highlights were the soft crab appetizer and the whole fish. The only weak point
was the pasta was a little overcooked. We love coming here for the great food and
service. We plan to eat here regularly in the future.

Satisfying in every way
Our fare was superb. The ingredients were artfully combined to create satsfying dishes with complex flavors. The portions were nicely sized; the food was visually interesting and appealing. Our server was pleasant, informative, and efficient. I would, however, give the chocolate/avocado dessert a "miss."
7/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service were excellent. We only wished that our yummy soft shell crab was a little larger. It would have justified the price. We will definitely return.

I have been here before and can now confirm that.........
Equinox is the kind of place that takes away worries about food, service and ambiance. Its all perfect so I can totally concentrate on my wife. If she is happy - then I am - and for a Saturday night dinner we both were.
As for food: I don't like fried green tomatoes but loved them here. I'd never order anything I can make at home like Mac and Cheese but love it here. Crazy good man dish of scallops that I did not want to end. Superior Service allowed us to move at our pace - not rushed, not slow, just right. Ambiance: This is a place where you feel welcome like a new home where anything can happen. It was downtown DC but still comfortable.
We will be back.

This was our first time at Equinox and we will certainly visit again. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. The service staff was helpful and attentive without being too intrusive. Just one thing - coffee disappointing! I do appreciate a good cup of coffee after dinner, and so often it's an afterthought.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Equinox has been around for a while. But you have to appreciate a restaurant where, when you open the menu, you want to order everything on it. So winnowing it down was hard, but we regretted nothing we ordered. Great professional lunch place, but great food place too!
7/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good location for a professional
Good location for a professional business luncheon. Excellent menu.
8/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was good, but wasn't wowed.
Took an intern to lunch. Shared the gougeres, which were delicious. I had the scallops, which were OK, but I expected something more novel in terms of accompanying flavors. Intern had the salmon, which he said was quite good. We shared the mac n cheese, which again was nothing exceptional. The limeade infused with mint was tasty -- I was hoping for novel flavor combos like that throughout the meal. So all in all, it was fine, nothing I can complain about, but nothing I can really praise highly.

An Amazing Meal
There isn't much else to say about the food...it was absolutely amazing. We had the added benefit of having a very personable server who only added to the experience. The quality of the food is worth the price. The level of service is worth the tip.

Chef Todd Gray & another great DCRW
Equinox DC is a great neighborhood gem, so much so that you want to share the secret with all of your friends while hoping that you will still be able to snag a table on a Friday night. In the years that Equinox has participated in DC's Restaurant Week, Chef Todd Gray has produced many menus which summarize all that is great about creative Mid-Atlantic cooking in three courses. The perfectly matched wine list only enhances the experience. The wait staff are attentive and will bend over backwards to satisfy reasonable requests (such as adding an generous extra splash or more of a really good wine to your glass). If you are looking for a memorable DC food experience, look up the street from the White House to find it at Equinox.

Good food, disappointing service
We were there for lunch during mid-week. The food was very good, but the service was quite poor. We had to wait an exceptionally long time to get the waiter's attention to ask a couple of questions, then to order, and then to ask for bread (required several requests until the hostess finally brought it). We wanted to order coffee and dessert, but were unable to get the waiter's attention and finally ran out of time and had to leave. In addition to being thoroughly inattentive, the waiter never cracked a smile and in fact looked quite unhappy to be there.
Unpleasant service did not offset the otherwise excellent food.

Fabulous Dining Experience
Everything was perfect. Our server was friendly and accomodating. The appetizers, meals and dessert were spot on! Even the wine pairing was exact. We had such a great time, I truly didn't want this culinary experience to end and was a bit saddened when it was dessert time already..

Best fine food in DC
This was the best food I ever had in DC! Wonderfully cooked, little unusual and very tasty combinations and great atmosphere. It was 't loud eiether and though vibrant dueing Restaurant week, we could have a conversation without raising our voices.
Quality of food was high!

Equinox Summer Restaurant Week 2013
I had a wonderful experience at Equinox for restaurant week in august 2013. I went for my birthday and it was great.
Me and my party all ordered from the restaurant week menu. They also gave us a complementary appetizer and complementary champagne. I was very surprised to receive this special service especially since it was restaurant week and we all ordered from the restaurant week menu.
The food was delicious. The salmon dish was so fresh and flavorful. I would love to go back. Equinox has a great atmosphere with exceptional food and service. Thanks.

Love, love, loved it!
The food was simply, delicious. We came here for restaurant week, and what is notable is that the the restaurant week menu was just as good as the regular menu. The portions were well sized and the food was fresh, light and delicious. Our server was polite, knowledgeable, friendly, just wonderful. We came here for my birthday, and after trying oval room and eatonville earlier that week, I have to say this was hands-down the best of all three. In my opinion, Restaurant Week's purpose is to get diners who wouldn't normally come in, wow them with your food, and get them to understand that your restaurant is worth coming to during non-promotional times. Equinox more than achieved that goal for me. GO THERE. You will not regret it.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
great food - slow services
We enjoyed the place and the food however our waiter could have been more attentive.
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
reasonably healthy food
seeking a convenient location and healthy options. Food was excellent but would have preferred some options with less fat and sodium. Booth was good for quiet conversation. Atmosphere was very pleasant and service was good.
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Another excellent experience
Another excellent experience at Equinox. There were seemingly more chef surprises than courses we ordered! Everything was wonderful and the staff is extrememly friendly. Always a joy to dine there.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great place for an imaginative business lunch downtown. Little touches and the attentive wait staff make it special.
9/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
The chilled corn and crab
The chilled corn and crab soup was excellent. The Maryland crab cake salad was off the charts.
9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, great service
I love Equinox. Chef Todd Gray always has fresh vegetables and fish served in a unique and tasty way. The service is quick and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Great for a business lunch or a special dinner.

We are long-time fans of Equinox.
We are long-time fans of Equinox. Never have had a disappointing experience.Prompt and professional service from beginning to end, incredibly fresh and flavorful dishes, great wines and a handsome and comfortable setting. Highly recommend Equinox!

Thank you, Chef Gray
Fabulous business dinner this week at Equinox. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcomed. While waiting on my table, the bartender introduced me to chef and owner, Todd Gray, who was gracious for my patronage. The food is excellent, pure and simple. The dinner menu includes many high-end items, but the flavors are what will bring me back again and again. We were never rushed or over- or under-attended. The wine selections are also great - a lot from Sonoma Valley. We enjoyed a couple of bottles recommended by the sommelier that paired very well with our dishes. Hats off to Chef Gray and his team for impressing me on my first visit. I will definitely be back.

A favorite restaurant when visiting
Equinox is a wonderful restaurant! Having had several meals there over the years, I continue to return to this DC treasure.
9/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very Good - Not Exceptional
The menu is delightfully varied. The wine list is great. We had a party of 6 there and had a great time. Items ordered and folks were very satisfied with: scallops, lamb, pannacotta, risotto fritters. The downside was that the air conditioning, which was needed because the room was hot - was very loud (in the front room) that it interfered with conversation. I have to say that the cheese puffs were woefully cool upon presentation.
9/19/2013 5:00:00 PM
Hope that Alex is your server ...
We had the most incredible service from Alex! He was beyond attentive and even anticipated our needs. We had a party of 5, but we all felt like we had a personal server in Alex.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Prix Fixe menu excellent/affordable
The food was excellently prepared and well presented. We ordered the Anniversary Fixed Price four-course Menu and we were impressed by the value. Good sized portions for a very reasonable price for the quality of the food. The roasted tomato soup was particularly luscious and both entree choices were very good. The wine pairings were decent wines with surprisingly generous servings for the price. The service was attentive but not very friendly, almost snooty. Perhaps, this reflects a California bias.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a great dining experience. We selected Equinox because they had vegetarian options as well and a super menu for non-vegetarians. We had a delightful waiter and chose the vegetarian tasting menu along with wine pairings. We were so happy with our dining experience., every course was delicious and wines were perfect. We will definitely return to Equinox when we visit the city again in November. Our waiter was kind enough to hail a taxi in the rain for us.

Outstanding In Every Way
Can't say much that hasn't already been said but this is a great example of what a fine dining restaurant should be. The staff from the hostess to bartender to servers were all friendly, professional and attentive. The food was creative yet comfortable - no bizarre combinations like a lot of fine dinning restaurants are trying these days! The wine list is interesting with good choices in every price point. I had diver scallops and shrimp which was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. My dinner companion had salmon which he reported as outstanding. The truffle macaroni and cheese wasn't as creamy as I expected but the flavor was excellent. Overall this was a great dinning experience and I would definitely return.

Great food, great service, good value for a special occasion.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Attentive staff...creative bartender....servers very respectful of need for gluten free!

Equinox never disappoints
I'm a fan of Equinox. It's one of my go to places to take clients or for office occasions. The food is always excellent and interesting. The service is great.
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful seasonal menu
Equinox's menu effortlessly blends standards and seasonal surprises. I dine here at least 10 times a year for lunch and am always delighted. The spinach rigatoni with bolognese was beautifully presented and was rich with flavor. The bolognese is one of the menu items that gets tweaked week to week to take advantage of fresh seasonal ingredients.
One small gripe -- I have yet to have a decent cappuccino at Equinox. It's watery (even the foam!). I wish they'd invest in improving in this small area!
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went to equinox to celebrate our anniversary. Great experience overall! The decor, service and food al match for a 5 star experience. Highly recommended, and I'm sure we will be back again.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent food, as always.
Excellent food, as always. Service is attentive and efficient. Wait staff knows the food. Chef is on top things -- comes into the dining room to make sure things are running smoothly and everyone is happy. Highly recommend for a business lunch or a nice dinner.
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Attention to the details in each dish shows elan. The fried oysters wrapped in smoked cedar planked salmon with a sprinke of caviar on curried yogurt with microgreens hits all the spots. Warm/cool sweet/savory salt/acid buttery/crunchy umami/spice. I went to bed dreaming of this dish!
11/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very Nice, however....
....the waiter could not hide his displeasure that appetizers and desserts were not ordered.
11/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
I haven't been at night so I can't address that, but I can't imagine that Equinox is anything but wonderful at all times of day. Chef and owner Todd Gray not only prepares wonderful dishes but he also is a warm and welcoming presence to the guests at his top notch restaurant.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great spot for lunch downtown
I came here for a business lunch since it is close to my office. Convenient location, close to either Farragut North or Farragut West stops. Great menu selection. I opted to try to scallops and they did not disappoint. We also got a side of the mac and cheese for the table, and it was a winner in everyone's book. I will be back for sure.

Equinox is the Ultimate DC Dining
This restaurant could not be any better. It is superb. From the moment you enter until you say goodbye, it is a wonderful, warm and enveloping dining experience. The ambiace is subdued beauty with a 'fine dining' vibe, the food is simply outstanding. Flawless. It a more casual dining experience is desired, we eat outside in the nice weatther. We took friends from Conn while visiting DC and they were duly impressed. Equinox is a stand out in a city of awesome restaurant choices.

As fall turns to winter it's birthday season. Being a serious foodie I was at a meeting of the the dc chapter of the international food and wine society. Equinox was being discussed and as it was my wife's birthday I decided to take her there. We were not disappointed. It's a beautiful space. The dining room was festive and busy with the season. We started with a glass of sparkling wine that was delicious. Appetizers were a arugula salad with pear for me and crunchy oysters for her. Both were fantastic. For our meal I had artic char perfectly done. She had beef medallions that were so good they melted in your mouth. Service was perfect. All told an A+++.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Loved the vegan tasting menu!
This was our second time dining at Equinox and both experiences were fantastic. We tried the new vegan tasting menu. Loved each and every dish that was served. Each dish was beautifully flavored and rich, yet not too heavy. The risotto had a wonderful smoky flavor. The carrot gnocchi with sautéed mushrooms were bathed in a lovely red wine sauce. The beet salad was light and zesty. The desert was delicious - a rich, dense chocolate/avocado torte with a sour cherry sorbet and berry sauce. Service was impeccable. Will definitely go back again.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
A very interesting menu, evrything was well-prepared. All three of us especially loved the brussel sprouts side dish.

A Very Special Evening
One of the best dining experiences since moving to Washington, DC!
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
I mentioned on my opentable reservation that we were coming to Equinox to celebrate a birthday - they could not have been more gracious with service! The food was excellent, but the complimentary glasses of moscato and the handwritten note from the owner was just exceptional and unexpected. We had a great time!!
11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
We ordered the "Warm Housemade Gruyere Gougères". It tasted good but seemed a little doughy for us. Although, that may have been where the cheese was concentrated. For starters my friend ordered the "Curried Kabocha Butternut Squash Soup" and I ordered the "Agnolotti of Pumpkin and Housemade ricotta. The Agnolotti was delicious, but swimming in butter/oil, which was a little overpowering. My friend thought the soup was good. For the main entree I ordered the "Grilled Creekstone Farm Angus Beef Striploin". It was perfectly cooked (medium rare) but arrived cold. My friend ordered the "Bacon Wrapped Medallions of Cervena Venison". The first bite was a bit gamey for me, but it soon changed to a more mild flavor.
12/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
We wanted a special restaurant for a weekend in WashingtonDC and this surpassed every hope. From the delightful woman who greeted us and found a special table, to the CHef who came to our table, it was wonderful

Splediforous seafood specials!
Be sure to listen to the description of the seafood/fish of the day. You will be intrigued. We actually had the salmon and the cobia from the regular menu, and started with the granny Apple soup. The presentations were elegant, and the food was as delicious as it was beautiful. Also, get the gruyere macaroni and cheese side--you won't be sorry! Service was masterful--just attentive enough, not overwhelming. The coffee is wonderful, too. This is one of my new Washington, DC favorites!

Just superb. Equinox never
Just superb. Equinox never fails to dazzle -- this was a holiday lunch and my guests were just raving about their meals. Love the feel and the highly professional and never pushy service. Randy at the front desk (and everywhere) really knows how to take care of guests. And having Chef Todd Gray stop by tables is a true treat.
