Magnolia doesn't disappoint
This was our fourth visit to Magnolia Thomas. I love the quaintness of the restaurant and the over all atmosphere. It is elegant without being stuffy. The wait staff is young, fun and sweet. They have been well trained and know how to handle problems (I knocked over my water.). The food we ordered (twice salmon and twice filet) could not have been more delicious. Beyond the taste was the presentation. This s the type of restaurant you find in Charleston.

Great food and service! We
Great food and service! We were there for brunch and it was all very nice until the check arrived. Were a bit surprised at the cost of the lunch buffet at over $30 each for the buffet plus coffee or tea.

The menu was interesting and
The menu was interesting and everything sounded great. The wait staff was excellent , very concerned and checked on how we were enjoying our evening. Can not say enough good things about the restaurant , location, were gladly welcomed and showed us to our table. Parking was nearby and very accessible. We have seen the restaurant for many years, and friends were always telling us how great it was ...... finally we went for our anniversary, and it was grand.

Once the restaurant was full
Once the restaurant was full it was so loud that it made it hard to hear others across the table.

Wonderful as always!
One of the best brunches around. Always wonderful! Highly recommended.

Our Server John was engaging
Our Server John was engaging and attentive. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was charming and very southern. We travel to Savannah frequently and felt like we were in a restaurant down there. Bonus to them for using local produce and meats...plus they have a herb garden out back. Great evening. We will be back soon.

I was looking for a nice,
I was looking for a nice, quiet place to take my wife for our anniversary dinner. I also wanted it to be a surprise. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed.
The menu has a smaller selection than your average restaurant, but this allows for more quality fare. My wife had the Chicken Gourmand and I had the Coffee Encrusted Bistro Steak. Both meals were perfectly prepared and delicious.
Our waiter, John, provided excellent service throughout our meal.
We have found the new "special occasion" restaurant to replace our former go-to place that closed. Magnolia Thomas is a gourmet experience that won't break the bank.

Always a pleasure to dine there
We come here for Sunday brunch as often as possible. My 8 yr old chooses this place over kid places for her birthday every year for the last 3-4 years, and I do the same. This time, we did my Mother's Day a week early, since the restaurant is so popular, it's already booked for Mother's Day.
Great waiter, who made sure I had refills on the mimosas, and my daughter loves the chocolate mousse, which they had this visit. Only 1 visit did they not have this for dessert, always our fave.
Even my parents love this place, in winter, nice to get a table by the fireplace.
Best boneless buttermilk fried chicken.....
I recommend to all - recommended to my mechanic and he brought wife who loved!

A Memorable Date Night
Dining at the Magnolia Thomas was our 1st Date night in 3 years. The food, atmosphere, wine, and dinner music was amazing.
My wife and I truly enjoyed our time spent here, and will be back soon. A true Gem in Woodstock, GA, and compliment to the Chef and staff.

Hard to find a place like this outside the city; we were luck enough to stumble on it about a year ago. I have tried most everything they offer at this point and while I didn't love every dish, I could tell that each one was prepared with care and creativity and very high standards. The blueberry filet is my recommendation, also the shrimp and grits and the pastry wrapped brie are excellent. Great Sunday brunch for about $16 includes free mimosas. I guess on my next visit I will try the coffee rubbed steak, that's about the only entree I haven't had yet.

Excellent Food & Service
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Woodstock. Living in Woodstock our choices for restaurants are limited. The Magnolia Thomas House offers a fine dining experiece in a casual atmosphere. The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is very welcoming. We also enjoy coming in for Sunday Brunch.
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our first visit to the restaurant. We enjoyed everything about it. The service was great and the food was fresh and delicious!

Nice Brunch Experience
Visited this restaurant for the first time for Sunday brunch, it was my wife's birthday. Had a very positive experience. Service was friendly and attentive. Our server was also very friendly to another couple at a separate table who inquired about using the restaurant for an event space (other places tend to blow you off when you ask about this). The brunch food was very good and a small desert was included. We both agreed that we would come back here again.

Delightful, unusual, a real gem
It's unusual to find a restaurant that combines a personal welcome and real hospitality with excellent food: this is one such. The restaurant is spacious, yet it also feels intimate. The menu offers both familiar Southern specialities brought up to date and original recipes with a Southern feel. Frankly, everything I tasted was delicious, but I will single out the shrimp & grits, the blueberry filet, and the death-by-chocolate dessert, which has enough calories for a family of four for a week but is irresistible—especially as it was free, being offered (with two more) to compensate for a small delay in bringing the mains. The wines-by-the-glass list is rather limited; in all other respects, this is a real gem.

Second to none
This is a hidden gem. It's perfect for a fine, special occasion quiet meal with a great atmosphere. Decent wine list, no bar.
Meal wise, it holds it's own with any of Atlanta's finest. There are small pleasant surprises like the wood smoked broccoli.

The Magnolia Thomas Restaurant
It was a surprise that the lunch-type buffet also included Belgian waffles, omelets and eggs Benedict.
My egg white omelet was perfectly seasoned with veggies inside.
All the desserts were homemade.
Our waiter was attentive even though most of us had the buffet.
There was a birthday in our crowd so the waiter brought a candle in her mousse!
I would recommend this hidden gem for any occasion.

Very Tasty and Quiet
My wife and I had our 6-year anniversary dinner at Magnolia Thomas and enjoyed it very much. The ambience is good and relaxing. Taylor, our waiter, was attentive, friendly and polite. The food was very good, and the complimentary glass of champagne for our special meal was a nice touch.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fabulous restaurant....loved loved the Piano music in the background... It so complimented the Carmenere Wine and superbly presented appetizers!! Such a gem right there in Woodstock!!
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fought over my husband's entree!
We started with the baked brie. Unfortunately (or not), one order was enough for the four of to only get one bite. I ordered the shrimp and scallops. Divine. My husband ordered the filet with blueberry compote. It was tender, juicy, and the compote was the perfect compliment. Once we all got a taste, it was over!! The fried chicken was okay, and the steak with chicory was flavorful. We ended with the peach cobbler. It was a bit of a letdown after the amazing entrees. However, it will not thwart us from returning next weekend! The other restaurants in this area are pretty good, but Magnolia Thomas is outstanding.

Great spot in Woodstock
I really like Magnolia Thomas...it's not in the busy section of downtown and there's easy parking and great food. I'm a repeat customer and will continue to go again and again!!

Very Nice Sunday Brunch
We enjoyed the restaurant. Service was a little off as we had to stop our waiter whenever we wanted more coffee or to order something. Some of the items on the buffet were not really hot such as the gravy. It's sad because the gravy was delicious but we did not want more because of the temperature. In general it was a nice experience and we plan to go back for dinner. Not too sure if we will do the brunch again though.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious food, fantastic wines. Great dining experience!

The only negative would be
The only negative would be variety was a little limited but the quality more than made up for it. I wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend this place to my friends

Very Nice Evening
Waiter was so pleasant and helpful...Food was amazing. Our first time there. We will definitely come back. We will recommend to our friends and family.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
A charming setting in an old house that you could easily drive by and miss it. But don't miss it. The menu was creative with choices for everyone's taste. We thoroughly enjoyed the "Smokey Fish Croquets" as a starter. The "Chicken Gourmand" and the "Cofee Crusted Bistro Steak" were both winners. We were unfamiliar with most of the wines on the list but our waiter was very helpful in guiding us.
We plan on returning again to try some of the other things on the menu we saw pass us on the way to other tables.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Sunday Brunch!
All we could do was keep repeating... "Everything tastes soooo good"!
I loved everything I had: eggs Benedict, cheese grits (OMG), bacon (crispy and tasty = perfect), little pastries, shrimp balls (double OMG), delicate little pastries (yummy) and for dessert (yes dessert), I had the Wild Blueberry Bread Pudding.
Did I mention there were mimosas?
It was so good, it turned into a special occasion!!!
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
looking forward to a return trip
Nice neighborhood spot on th edge of downtown Woodstock. Set in a beautiful old house/building that was restored after a fire. I've been meaning to try it out; glad that I finally did. They had a nice selection of reasonably priced wines by the glass and bottle. Great variety on th menu; something for everybody. I particularly liked the waitstaff. Very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely would recommend for a pleasant evening out.

Love this little place!
I have loved the Magnolia Thomas Restaurant since it opened! Fresh food, awesome homemade spread for the warm rolls, and menu favorites (fried chicken) mixed with new items that change (Pecan crusted trout). Always delicious food! My only 'issue' is we always seem to get the same waitress, Pat. She is nice enough, but is very flat. This last time, we had a gift certificate and she swooped in and took the check with the certificate before we could even put our payment with the bill! Often get the feeling she would rather not be there. As far as the food goes, this place can't be beat!
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nothing but good things to say. The brunch was excellent with both traditional and unique items. Everything was quality and fresh. Been driving by for years. Will be going back as soon as possible.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Will go back
My husband and I had an overall great experience. The ambiance was great...dimly lit, cozy...a guitar player was in the back ground. The scallops appetizer was outstanding. I had the salmon, which was good, but a little over cooked. My husband had the special...coconut shrimp with orzo pasta. The pasta had no flavor, the shrimp were good. We will definitely be back...very relaxing, laid back atmosphere.

Best Chicken (fried) ever!
I had the Chicken Gourmand which is a parmesan crusted, kettle fried chicken breast, served with garlic mashed potatoes and topped with artichokes, onions, & mushrooms, finished with a caper lime cream. The presentation was great. My husband had the Herb Broiled Grouper wild caught catch, topped with compound butter made fresh with handpicked herbs, mashed potato and vegetable ribbons which he thoroughly enjoyed. A special treat was the entertainment. A (classic) guitarist who was exceptional. We are planning on return to Magnolia next Saturday for both the great food and entertainment. We have dined here before but this was the first time I tried the chicken and I would get this again, or try the other (fried) chicken dish on the menu.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was a very pleasant Saturday night experience, with good food and a nice ambiance. We will definitely return.

Dinner out with the girls
We had a wonderful experience dining at this restaurant. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for catching up with girlfriends. It would be a great place for a romantic dinner with your significant other as well.

I always enjoy the ambiance of a restaurant that is in a historic house. It reminded me of a smaller version of the 1848 House in Marietta, which was one of our favorite restaurants. The Magnolia Thomas Restaurant's chef knows how to put flavors together, and make for a satisfying palate. Paired with a wine from their extensive wine list, it was one of the best meals I've had in awhile. thoroughly enjoyed everything.

A Nice Surprise
The Magnolia Thomas Restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and I am now recommending to you. Upon hearing of this place I went online to review the menu and looked at a few pics and had an idea of how warm and cozy and nice the place would be but it was nice to be surprised. And to my surprise my expectations were exceeded. The food was awesome. Our party was a table of 6 and we enjoyed appetizers, some wine, entrees and desert .. not one of which disappointed. Each one raved about their own dish. The steak, the lamb, the chicken, and the eggplant pancakes which made for a great presentation. Our group also shared a few deserts. Prices are not fast food but the true foodie will enjoy the great food and presentation. Enjoy, .. we did.

49th Wedding anniversary
The restaurant was great as usual. Food terrific, service great.
I was a little disappointed that they did not mention the fact that we were celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary. I put in the reservation and it was never mentioned. I just wonder if they even look at the comments.

2nd Time at Magnolia Thomas
We enjoyed dining at MT. The coffee rubbed steak was delicious in flavor, just a tad tough. The blackberry salmon also had a delicious taste, but was a bit overcooked and slightly dry. Had we not been with friends, I would have mentioned the issue with the salmon to our waiter. The service was great. This restaurant is tucked away in a very scenic spot, but could use a few more parking spaces. Although I may sound like I didn't enjoy the meal, actually it was a very fun evening. I'm sure we'll be back.
