Good food, great service!
Good food, great service!
Just wish the extremely loud, obnoxious woman seated at the bar would stop recounting her drunken escapades that no one else really needed to hear . Unfortunately the bartender seemed intent on keeping the conversation going!

The Easter brunch was delicious
The Easter brunch was delicious with multiple choices. It was hard to choose. The eggs benedict on crab cake was luscious!! Our waitress, I think her name was Vanessa, was wonderful! She was very attentive and cheerful. She was delightful and a great ambassador for the restuarant. I would do this again in a heartbeat!!

A favorite for lunch or dinner
Pauline's is a go to restaurant for me, my friends and my husband. There are many options for all food eaters - gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. I usually order a soup and a salad. They cannot disappoint! I recently had a butternut squash soup followed by the beet salad which had candied walnuts and goat cheese. Lunch or dinner is always preceded by homemade popovers and focaccia. Delicious!! I will be back soon!

We brought friends from Montreal for the Special Spring Menu that included ramps and fiddleheads. One of our guests raved that the gnocchi were the best she had ever had. I have to agree, they were as light as air and the pan- frying added another dimension to the experience. My husband loved the vegan chocolate pot de creme. It was made with coconut milk instead of heavy cream and yet it was smooth, silky, rich, and perhaps even better than the traditional method. I loved the pickled parsnip and ramp/fiddlehead appetizer. Kudos to the chef! It was the absolute perfect spring meal.

can't go wrong
I make it a point to never give any establishment 5 stars because that my be subjective. In my mind it is and always has been
a solid across the board 4 star.

Soup and Food
Overall the food was very good. The french onion soup was a little too cheesy but besides that everyone left happy!

Made me a hero on Mother's Day
My wife loved the crab cakes, and I really enjoyed the schnitzle! Only negative, we were seated next to a large loud group when there seemed to be other open tables.

What a wonderful find...
My son was graduating from college and being Mother's Day as well many of the local restaurants in Burlington were booked well in advance. I found Pauline's after doing a search on TripAdvisor. The reviews were good but it was difficult to tell what the ambiance would be like and I didn't want to disappoint my family consisting of 3 teenage boys, graduating son, husband and mother. I'm happy to say Pauline's did not disappoint in the least. We were seated promptly and were able to order off the special Mother's Day brunch menu. From appetizers through dessert everything was superb. Everyone -- even my mother who isn't always easy to please -- raved about their meals. Don't hesitate to dine here. It was excellent!

The food was awesome. Equally satisfying for vegans and steak lovers. I had the Portobello Napoleon and loved it. The seating is crowded and I was bumped by servers and patrons during every pass by which was annoying. Other than that it was a great experience. Desserts were incredible.

Always a great meal and service. Love the menue and the food is always prepared and presented in a beautiful way.

Cozy and Good Food
A favorite of ours for years and years - we always enjoy the cozy dining environment with the wonderful choice of tasty dishes offered.

I would never have gone to Pauline's if I had not had a LivingSocial coupon-that would have been a terrible loss. The food was wonderful, and the service was impeccable. The looks of the exterior of the building may be a little misleading.Don't worry; Pauline's is definitely fine dining.

Excellent as Usual
For the second time in three years, we have chosen Pauline's to have a small gathering for dinner following a high school graduation. Once again, my request for a table in the corner was granted. The service was only exceeded by the quality of the food. Dessert brought a perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience.
I have dined at Pauline's for business as well as pleasure. I have never been disappointed, nor do I expect to in the future.

Reliable choice in Burlington
We've been to Pauline's many times over the years. The food is interesting and well prepared. Steak is always good here. Prices are reasonable.

Great localvore food.
Pauline's ambiance and food is upscale rustic home cooking. The asparagus still has a crunch, and the sauces on the meats tend to have a french country taste and texture. The building has a bit of a "log cabin" cottage feel. All in all a great place to sit and talk, get great food, and wine. You will not be disappointed.

A Great Find
While traveling in Vermont we tried Pauline's based on it's AAA tour book listing. It was a good choice. The food was very good and they had a favorite wine on their list. Loved the beet salad.

Annual Anniversary Dinner
Yet another awesome wedding anniversary dinner at Paulines. Our yearly tradition continues. Steak filet done to perfection, deliciious glaze, and just the right mix of mash potatoes and fresh vegetables. Only regret is forgetting to ask for gorganzola cheese on the filet (which is sometimes offered as an option).

Excellent fresh food.
Great place to unwind after a hectic work week. The escargot is always a favorite of mine. The smoked salmon plate my husband had as an appetizer was also delicious. The potato crusted cod the fresh vegis it came with were cooked perfectly. I love Pauline's and we will go back there again soon.

Great Find in South Burlington
We happened on Pauline's when we were looking for a restaurant with gluten-free options in Burlington, Vermont, shortly after arriving there. They had plenty of gluten-free options for my husband; many of the meals on the menu could be prepared gluten-free. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. We ate there our first night in town and returned our last night in town (only four nights later) since we enjoyed the first dinner so much.

Chose Pauline's for the menu, found out it is a longtime family/friend favorite....great food, nice atmosphere, excellent service...

One of the best restaurants in Chittenden county and the surrounding area. You won't ever leave disappointed.

rare night out
Amazing food! Everything was perfect. We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation and were seated promptly. The staff was friendly and helpful. My husband and I have honestly never eaten a better meal. The maple creme brulee was an added bonus! We will definitely be going back!

Service and food excellent
Very satisfied with our recent dinner out. Great breads, happily replenished. Lover the popovers. Shared a salmon app. Special of the night short ribs was excellent as was chicken dish. Service was friendly and professional.

Pauline's never disappoints
The atmosphere is lively and the upstairs seating was roomier than downstairs so it made for comfortable dining. There were four of us having a special dinner out celebrating a birthday and from start to finish everything was superb. Our waitstaff was very attentive, but not intrusively so, and the meal itself was done to perfection. I highly recommended the mixed seafood grill.

Great food, as always
Pauline's is never a disappointment. One of my top 5 Burlington area restaurants.
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Big change I would suggest is the coffee. Needs to be stepped up in flavor. Green Mountain perhaps and serve half and half. I would suggest milk was served with the coffee I tried to drink.
Forgive me if I am wrong, I know you try to please.

Charming and delicious
I have been to Pauline's many times in the past but they are under new management. It was as good as ever. Interesting bread to start. The 6 escargots were delicious in their puff pastry. The Maine crab cakes were perfectly cooked, with plenty of crab and little filler, and with interesting accompanying vegetables. My partner had a bean "cake" that was all vegetable but surprisingly steaklike. The wine was good although I would have liked a bit more in the serving. ALso had good local beer on tap. The waiter was attentive but not overly solicitous, and the kitchen was prompt. For dessert we had a chocolate sundae, ok, and a flourless chocolate cake with rasberry sauce, excellent. Overall, a delightful experience!

Always a Pleasure!
Pauline's never disappoints! The food is always wonderful, great servers, and super-nice bartenders. So nice to have a restaurant that you can always count on. Love the popovers they give you when you sit down, and the salmon special with lentils and spinach was divine. I also highly recommend the spinach and bean cakes and the polenta cakes. Two thumbs up!

Great brunch. Good service.
We love the brunch here and the quality of the ingredients is quite good. The hollandaise served on a number of delightful brunch benedicts is perfect consistency. Served over the must be homemade popover with smoked salmon and fresh spinach was excellent along with other diners dishes. Service was somewhat slow, although we had 3 kids and food could have been a tad hotter but overall great brunch!

Really enjoyed the meal. Wonderful artisanal cheese plate. and for desert the buttermilk blueberry ice cream.

You can go home again
Returning to the Burlington area after a long absence, we were curious to see if Pauline's was still the friendly, high quality dining experience if our memory - and anxious that things might have changed over time. We need not have worried. Menus reflect high quality ingredients, creatively prepared and the essence of the place, easy hospitality, has not changed at at all. Our fine meals of escargot, swordfish, risotto and ribs, combined with excellent wines and decadent deserts fueled a lively conversation with an old friend. On one of the area's busiest tourism weekends and with a full house, the staff provided attentive service without a hint of rushing us.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Cozy and inviting atmosphere, Pauline's was a great find away from the hubbub of Church St. The mashed potato crusted turkey pot pie was a delicious comfort food and the poached pear and blue cheese salad was exceptional. Service was good and and the bread basket included warm brioche rolls that were heavenly. The restaurant was busy, but we never felt rushed. We would definitely return to Pauline's!

An oasis on a Sunday!
From the moment we arrived we felt we had made a good decision to have Sunday dinner at Pauline's. We were made welcome and were soon directed to our table. We enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks and pleasant wines before leaving as contented bunnies.

Return to Pauline's
My wife and I have been to Pauline's previously and so were looking forward to returning. Our appetizers and main courses were delicious and beautifully presented. As well, service was excellent. For an elegant meal in the Burlington area Pauline's will not disappoint.

I asked for the best seat in the house and I got it. A romantic table near the window tucked in a corner. The service is smart, efficient and charming. Everything comes at just the right time. The wine list is fantastic and every entree is always perfect. Pauline's is the best.
10/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have never had a meal we didn't like at Pauline's. The chef knows how to blend flavors and textures. The presentation is always so appealing. I am especially pleased with the amount of food they place on the plate. This has been a favorite of ours for years.

Thanksgiving dinner at Pauline's ca
The squash and rice entree was super, for me the vegetarian of the group. Especially since it included a sampling of thanksgiving dinner veggies. I had the impression that the traditional thanksgiving dinner was very good but not great. Always hard to top a home cooked turkey. Soup, salad and desserts were very good.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Place was very crowded and we were seated in a back room near the restroom, kitchen and the only handicapped entrance. Did not know the exit was there until an elderly lady needed to leave, for some reason the entire group with this lady decided to exit through the same door. Well, with no air lock and a 10 degree night that 30 seconds of that opened door really chilled the entire room! It really made us feel like we were the extra income for the night and just a way to pack a few more people in. The new waiter that we had also helped to reinforce that point. He tried hard but it was clear that he had little to no training but there’s money to be made!

We love coming to Burlington for Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping. Pauline's adds that special touch to the trip. The food is so delicious and fresh. The whole family loved the food and the atmosphere is so warm and charming. Reservations ran pretty close to on time.
