Great tapas, great paella.
Great tapas, great paella. The server was helpful with recommendations for what would make a good meal, and what would be a good amount to get.

Lots of fun
We loved that we could have a mix of hot and cold things, and everything was delightful. My particular favorites were the crab cakes and the omelette. The sauce with the mushrooms was divine, as well - perfect for dipping bread into.
We need to come back to try all the things we didn't have room for the first time - I'm looking forward to it.

The chef came to check on us as we had some special requests for the calamari. We did not want them fried but 'a la plancha' and he cooked them for us like we wanted. He also did so with the shrimp and that was delicious. We ordered the calamari and the shrimp twice after we finished our paella. The paella was also very good, a bit small though. After dinner the chef came back again to check on us and see if we had a good dinner. The tortilla was also excellent. As I used to live in Spain, I can say that this place is definitely 2 thumbs up!

Great as always
Every time I return, I forget how much I enjoy Allegrias and it's foods. The food is consistently very good, and the service is extraordinary. A must visit if you like tapas. rrh

We enjoyed the warm welcome
We enjoyed the warm welcome we received from the hostess and our server, Laureano, who explained the dishes to us with much confidence.
My non-alcoholic drinking friends truly enjoyed the sangria. We had 2 pitchers!
I liked the fact that they acknowledge the note I entered. The staff greeted me a happy birthday on our way out too!

Loved the food and the friendly services. Alegiras bent over backward to accommodate the special food needs for one one member of my part of 8. This was our first time there, and will not be the last.
And oh by the way, the Sangria is wonderful.

We were in town for a convention and we dined as a group of 8. We started with a refreshing sangria and then piled on with a large variety of delicious taps to share. Our vegetarians (non-vegan) were thrilled with the options. We capped the meal with two orders of paella and scaped the crusty paellla dishes. No room for dessert. Thumbs up all around.

Real Spanish in the Marina
My friend and I, having eaten the real thing many times, were amazed at the authenticity of flavor in every dish we ordered. We got tapas rather than the entrees, and each was a gem. Her words "I haven't eaten tapas this good since I was in Segovia." The jamon was so delicious we ordered a second plate instead of dessert. Wine selections are outstanding, and fino and porto choices to die for. Staff are very gracious, and will ask how quickly, or slowly, you like being served, as well as tell you about that day's ingredients or cooking techniques, if you need to know. Go, enjoy!

The real deal
The real deal if you're looking for a family-owned, authentic Spanish (Argentine) restaurant. We will go back. Took my husband there for his birthday. It was perfect.

Six of us were meeting for supper from across the continent. I recommended Alegrias for the meal, and at the end of the supper everyone agreed that the meal was an absolute winner. We started with tapas--olives and jamon (Spanish ham), asparagus, spinach, flamed cheese, prawns cooked in garlic, and several others. We finished up sharing a double order of Paella Valenciana, a dish of rice cooked with seafood and Spanish sausages. Every dish was delicious; well-seasoned, but never overbearing, and the only real problem was that we all would have wanted to try more! I have dined here a number of times, and have never had a bad meal--arguably never a bad dish. The wine list is fairly small, but the wines are good, and compliment the food.

Better than it looks
Very Surprised. Walked in and thought about walking out. Servers should give a little more direction to sell the menu. Very good.

The tapas were very good. We had asparagus, spinach (a surprise combo with apples, raisins and pine nuts), calamari, shrimp, crabcakes, peach bread pudding and crepes. They were all very good. The crabcakes were especially tasty and the sauce had just the right amount of kick. The calamari were crispy and very fresh - not greasy at all. We mopped up the smoky sauce on the shrimp with the bread. The tempranillo wine was the perfect accompaniment. The waiter recommended the bread pudding, and we were happy we ordered it. Best of all, you could converse with the people at the table because the noise level was not extreme. All in all, a happy discovery. We aren't sure why it wasn't packed; maybe people haven't heard about it yet?

Delicious tapas, great service
We ordered several items and the server politely pointed out that it would be a lot of food for two. I appreciated that he told us, and that he was very cordial when he did. Servers we're very attentive, but not intrusive.
Really enjoyed the patatas bravas, paella Valenciana and tortilla espanola. Yum. We will return!

Lovely intimate Spanish restaurant
Lovely intimate Spanish restaurant with lots of atmosphere and quiet enough to have a conversation. We split two tapas, both excellent and the paella with chicken, seafood and chorizo - very well prepared and tasty. Excellent food and reasonable prices. My partner said he would like to come with a large group and try everything on the menu! Highly recommended..

Fun, family-owned gem in the Marina
Alegría means happiness in Spanish, and this restaurant makes me happy every time I go. It has a great atmosphere, good food and the family who runs it is friendly and give great service. I love the decor and the energy! I will see you again soon!

This place is so yummy and fun to go to!
I was brought back to my years in Spain and am grateful for that as I have been missing it!
Can't wait to go again and try other things on the menu...perhaps a little morcilla could make its way on there?!?

Food was very good. The service
Food was very good. The service was a little scattered. Small restaurant, slightly cramped. Pacing off food was a little off.

Found this restaurant by doing a search on Open Table when I was visiting SF. It was a great 'recommendation'. We had tapas - lots of tapas, a bottle of wine and a dessert and the bill was very reasonable. The asparagus was phenomenal and we wanted to drink the sauces/juices with the shrimp and mushrooms it was so good.

Great Tapas on Lombard
Have thought of dining here for years and finally made it! In Spain they say you can judge the quality of a restaurant by their "croquetas del dias" and these were some of the best I've had - also had the prawns, tripe, asparagus and tortilla along with some excellent wine. Nice white table cloth atmosphere - casual but could dress up as well. easy to get to - one block off Chestnut at Webster.
