Awesome night with the new
Awesome night with the new menu @ the new ROYCE. Food is excellent, so does the services. Steak, tomato salad and a glass of wine, perfect! We had the dessert as well but it's too sweet, room for improvement.

The entire experience exuded class. The server was amazing, helpful, courteous and not a tad snooty. She walked us through our meal and chose our perfect dessert to go with our wines. The Sommelier was equally amazing, especially during our experience in the Wine Room. We were able to enjoy exceptional food, service and wine in a beautiful atmosphere.

Very nice buffet brunch. Not a lot of variety but food was excellent: well prepared and nicely presented. Also enjoyed nice, tall champagne glasses! Atmosphere was very quiet and relaxing, not like other brunches, expecially on holidays.

Great steaks, great ambiance
Great place for a special occasion. We ordered a delicious step and great appetizers. Extensive wine list had a good blend of red and white wines. Service was excellent. We plan to come back very soon.

Our second time at The Royce. First time as a steak house. We each ordered an appetizer, two sides to share with our individual entrees and we couldn't finish any of them and we sat down hungry. The food was delicious but very, very rich. I would reccomend one app and one side to share. Definitely save room for the Bread Pudding desert - also very rich.

The food was beautifully prepared and the restaurant is elegant. A wonderful location for a special occasion...

This is primarily a steak house, as advertised. The portions are a la carte and huge, best to be shared.

Great service, food and accommodations. Handled my wine request. Have dined many times when owned by Ritz Carlton. First time under Langham. Everything still perfect.

The best restaurant in Pasadena?
Of all the fine dining restaurants in Pasadena (including private clubs), The Royce is arguably the very best. Throughout the meal, you can sense that the kitchen has taken the time to select the best and freshest ingredients. Although dubbed a "Steakhouse", The Royce offers a wide variety of dishes up and down the menu. We've been there twice and every single one we've tried has been excellent. Many of the sides are "comfort food" simple in their menu description, but surprisingly complex in taste. And you'll seldom encounter a more welcoming and genuinely friendly staff. This is a restaurant where everyone in the house tries very hard to please...and they succeed. It's a premium-priced meal, but it's worth it.

Spent our 37th Anniversary looking out on the beautiful Huntington Hotel grounds, with a fabulous meal and fabulous servers. Steaks were to die for--especially the Wagyu by Greg Norman. Tender, and perfectly cooked. Wine list is limited, but very good. A definite place to return.

Although the food and service
Although the food and service at the Royce are truly excellent, diners must be prepared for extremely high prices and a less-than-elegant atmosphere for such a noted hotel.

We had a great experience,
We had a great experience, on this special occasion of her birthday.
My only complaint is that there is no dress code. People were dining in shorts, or jeans and T-shirts. This is a classy restaurant and the customers should be required to show some class. Doesn't need to be extreme, even "country club casual" would be a great improvement.

Memorable 10th Wedding Anniversary
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in grand style at The Royce. The service was excellent and everyone made a point to acknowledge our milestone. We can't wait to go again.

Better Than Ever
I have been eating in this building for a long, long time. First the Hotel changed hands. Then the restaurant changed chefs. Then the restaurant went through a major re-design (way more than a renovation). Throughout all of those many changes -- the kind that killed Patina and mortally wounded The Water Grill -- somehow the restaurant currently known as The Royce has managed not only to survive but to thrive.
They now have two wine rooms: one for reds and the other for whites. That has to bode well for the wine service, not to mention the sensational collection they have amassed there.
The Brunch, while seemingly expensive, is worth every penny and then some. To quote my wife: They focused on high quality. We highly recommend it.

Exceeded Our HIGH Expectations
LOVED IT! From the graciousness of the hostess, we had a fantastic dining experience to the end. Our server, Andrea, was fantastic. We thank her for her suggestions, although we suspect everything on the menu is fantastic. Ricardo, also assisted serving our table, made the service top-notch. The very generous portion of lobster bisque was so flavorful, yet light not heavy. The 32oz cote de boeuf was amazing, on the bone, sliced and cooked perfectly, an impressive treat. This entree would easily serve 2 couples. Bordelaise sauce is delicious, a drizzle over the beef is encouraged. Potato puree excellent, grilled asparagus fresh, tender. Normally do not like bread pudding, here it is AMAZING. This dining experience EXCEEDED our expectations.
7/15/2013 5:00:00 PM
Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. The suggestions he made on both the food and wine selection was impeccable. The newyork steak was really good with a decent portion size. But it was the wagyu strip loin that blew me away. Definitely worth the money. Can't wait to try the other cuts from the different steak types

Cocktail and al foods are good.
But the meat was getting to stiff and lost the original taste when it turned to be cold due to aircon soon.
I think we needed your more deep service to keep warm the meat for enjoying the good taste of the meat for the eating time.

Dine LA Week at the Royce
Perusing the Dine LA menu at participating restaurants, one frequently sees other, more appealing menu items & casts the prix-fixe menu aside. Such was the case at the Royce. Thanks to our informed waiter, we ordered salad, sides, and entrees, with a nice bottle of wine that priced competitively against the Dine LA menu. The Royce prides itself as a steakhouse.I eat steak rarely, but the two selected were perfectly cooked (!) A selection of four sauces accompanied them. The attractive dining room is an interesting balance of the old, aristocratic Pasadena, and the hip, moderne of Los Angeles. It is a splurge but The Royce is worth it. BTW, the chairs are comfortable & the red wine is served closer to cellar temperature, a huge bonus.

The evening began with a lovely table and romantic ambience. Our waitress and server were attentive but not intrusive. Food was exceptional and it was a very special evening. We were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and the staff made us feel special.
Loved the bread pudding, the french fries but our steak was truly exceptional!

a high end gem on the east side
Here you get what you pay for. An impressive wine collection that you pass by on the way to your table, with a happy tasting party in full swing right in the wine room. One of the best arugula salads I've had for the simplicity of ingredients but savory taste. Oysters on the half shell from both northwest and northeast, flown in very fresh, about as close as you can get in So Calif. to sitting at a fine oyster bar in Seattle. A truly gourmet selection of steak cuts and sources, including Australian grass-fed/grain finished. I opted for genuine Kobe filet mignon, flown in from Japan. The lobster was the best we've had. Our server was fully informative and relaxed, like a friendly acquaintance. If you love the best, don't miss it.

Unforgettable Dinner at The Royce
Everything was fabulous. They found us the quiet, romantic table we had asked for. I sat on a super comfy love seat. The room is elegant and spacious with a lovely view of trees. Do they ever know their beef! We absolutely loved the carpaccio appetizer, which was perfect with a grilled artichoke. The spinach with truffle oil side was out of this world. The cinnamon beignets with Balley's chocolate sauce for dessert were to die for, warm, freshly made, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. The steaks were perfectly cooked and very good as well. They have a great wine cellar and helpful wine connoisseurs. We chose a Honig red that was fabulous. The dinner is expensive but wow, if you want to splurge for a special night, it will be well worth it.

Night to remember
A couple of my friends and I were getting together - we started with cocktails on the terrace of the Tap Room Bar and then moved over to the Royce for dinner. Everything was outstanding!! We are all locals and the Langham is a go to stop for us - best food, service, and ambiance in Pasadena!
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a welcome change. The Royce has made a transition from California cuisine (taking itself way too seriously) to a very high end steak house. We sat overlooking the gardens, what a beautiful setting. My wife and I ordered the Kobe steak and a side of truffel spinach. The experience exceeded our expectations. One world of warning, it isn't inexpensive, but well worth it for special occasions.

Outstanding quality and service. Food was delicious and incredibly fresh and flavorful.
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
knowledgeable wait staff
both food and wine recommendations were fantastic. the grounds are immaculate, the view is instantly peaceful. For some reason the hotel general manager insists on playing music in the dining room which is not dinner music and in now way supports the elegance of the main dining room. Perhaps a class in music appreciation would help him discover alternatives to rock/southern blues. For the first few tables each night the volume make quiet conversation usually anticipated during first seatings challenged and distracted. Wait staff agrees that many complaints are received about the music and guests are advised to make comments to the General Manager but apparently complaints are not effective...thus far.

Very Nice Experience at The Royce
Took our son for his birthday (at his request) and really enjoyed the experience. The site (Langham Hotel) is beautiful and so is the restaurant. Started with drinks at their very nice bar (The Tap Room). Food was expensive, but so was the quality (only gripe - the steak trio at $88 is (in my opinion) over priced compared to most of the choices. The service was attentive and very nice. Excellent place for a quiet enjoyable celebration.

A Classic in Pasadena
The Royce is a classic -- probably the best that Pasadena has to offer. That said, the menu is extremely limited (especially if you don't eat red meat or seafood), so if you are vegan, be sure to discuss your options with the chef or hostess well in advance of your dinner. I did this the first time, and the meal was among the finest that i have had...I did not have enough advance notice this time, and suffered being limited to a single entre - a very nice risotto. That said, The Royce is clearly the place for a business dinner or quiet celebration of life and/or romance.
10/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was phenomenal, the ambience exquisite, the service impeccable. We had the porterhouse to share and it was delicious...the presentation was excellent. We also had the steak tartar, an A+ appetizer! For the sides, the sauteed mushrooms and soft polenta was amazing. The berry gimlet was on point! Celebrated our first year anniversary at The Royce and it was a perfect evening.

Worth every penny
I hail from the land of overpriced and over decorated restaurants- Miami, FL. So I know a little bit about paying $50 for an entree and being thoroughly underwhelmed when it arrives. In point of fact I've become leery of spending on upscale dining because of my experiences in my home town and I've taken to seeking out the lower profile eateries which serve excellent food. The Langham was a refreshing surprise on all counts. The decor is trendy but understated, the service is professional and competent without being intrusive, and the food, well, the food was fantastic. If you are looking for a great value this is not your spot, two of us dined and had one drink each and our bill was over $200. But as I said, worth every penny.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was a fantastic restaurant. The ambience and food were absolutely amazing. It is good to know the restaurant is inside of a hotel just so you know what you're looking for. I would highly recommend this for special occasions because it is a little pricey.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was hands down, the best meal I have ever had. It was my birthday, and the chef made many special extra dishes for us, it was nothing short of amazing, I highly recommend this restaurant.

It was my first visit, food and service was excellent.
I liked brunch set-up, the food comes to you vs. you going to get your food.

A wonderful dining experience. Top-notch service, decor and food. This is a great, fresh take on a high-end steak house.

Super Expensive, Super Good!
If you are willing to spend a week's salary on a 2 hour meal, I would highly recommend the Royce. Nestled in the Langham hotel, the Royce provides a glimpse into the lifestyle of the rich and famous. The ambiance at the Royce is very but a tad Bourgeoisie. Expect that when you look to your left and right, you will find rich, white men and either their eye-candy trophy wives. If you are able to put your nose in the air and pretend like you know how to pronounce the $200 bottle of burgandy, you will fit right in. The food is really wonderful and the restaurant is gorgeous. I do recommend the Royce, and ultimately, with most things in life, you get what you pay for! Put on your navy blazer and red bottom shoes, and give it a chance!

Wonderful Sunday brunch.
Good food, good service and good ambience. It is truly Pasadena neighborhood gem.

A Native American would be proud.
If you are a group of 4, or maybe 3 if you're hungry, get the Tomahawk chop and you may have just ordered the best piece of monster meat ever served. This 48 oz masterpiece is presented table side before going back to be sliced to perfection. Grab any side, cause they're all great, and you are in for a feast.

The staff was very attentive, the food was excellent, our glasses were never empty. And the dessert buffet was so tasty!

Making It Right
Our first time to this restaurant for a birthday celebration did not go off as planned. Apparently, notice of the birthday did not make it from the reservationist to the waiter. I complained and the Royce asked me to come back with my partner. We did and they could not have been nicer or more attentive. The appetizer we chose--Lentils de Puy--is not on the menu, but ask for it. It is divine--lentils, fava beans and truffle butter--just melt in your mouth marvelous! The filet mignon was tender, flavorful and so satisfying. Our wonderful waiter brought out these wonderful, warm beignets accompanied by a luscious chocolate sauce on a platter scrolled with sweet birthday greetings for my partner.

The Royce was a great location
The Royce was a great location for my sister's birthday party. We were a group of six and made a reservation the day before. We were seated promptly upon arrival at a lovely table with a city view. The service was excellent. The sommelier made a great recommendation for a bottle of wine for the table. For food: my mom loved the filet, my aunt loved the swordfish, my uncle loved the lamb chops, my brother loved the John Dory, and I loved the vegetarian risotto. My sister was not a huge fan of one of the cuts that you pay for by the ounce. It was not as tender as she expected. It is fattier than the filet and other cuts. But all of the side orders were delicious. And the cheese jalapeño bread you get before the meal is amazing.

A Great Way to Kick-Off The Holiday
A group of colleagues who taught a course at the UCLA Medical School, wanted to come to the Pasadena area for a reunion. The Royce was the perfect place and the Sunday Brunch was "perfecto." We were seated at a window table, the grounds were beautiful and the weather was spectacular with warm air and a clear view of the mountains. After the wonderful brunch with fresh coffee cake; appetizer plate of crab cake, lobster salad, tuna & beef tartare; followed by main courses of salmon and steak and never-ending glasses of blini, bloody mary's, mimosas and champagne, we could hardly touch the dessert bar. We concluded our reunion with a stroll through the decorated Langham Hotel and grounds. It could not have been more perfect.

During the hurly burly holiday season, my husband and I took a moment to spend Sunday brunch together at the Royce - and we were completely happy with the experience - the food, atmosphere, care, and quality were evident from the moment we arrived.
It was quiet but still felt lively - we had more delicious food than we had expected - and the wait staff was enthusiastic but not overly intrusive. We made reservations to take our entire family there for brunch -
