We called to ask if we could make our reservation, which we'd had for some time, still work given a tight window between two graduations. The staff offered to arrange for pre-ordering our lunch -- they emailed menus, called to make sure they were accommodating every dietary need in our group, and had our meal ready to fire in the kitchen when we called to say we were almost there. When we arrived after a busy morning of events -- and had only an hour for lunch -- everything went like clockwork. Great food and the most accommodating mangers and servers we've had at any restaurant in Baltimore. Food service has the word service in it for a reason and this was service in the old-world sense. AND the food was amazing. We'll be back and back....

Would be our local if closer
Veuve Cliquot for $7 til 7:59? I love it. Great HH prices, cool rustic industrial vibe. Had the Brussels sprouts, flavorful, the barrata was a bit too soft, the snapper crudot had nice freshness and the bison tartare was hearty. The fried chicken was decent....seemed iron skillet so crispy on one side....good mashed.

The bar and restaurant are
The bar and restaurant are well above average for a hotel, but the parking is well below what is expected for a hotel, severely understaffed.

We stayed at Hotel Monaco this past weekend. Due to our late Friday arrival; we decided to eat at B&O American Brasserie. I mentioned our anniversary when I booked and wanted a quiet, private table. Not only was this arranged, but the manager sent a bottle of champagne to our room and had another glass ready at our table! The food was great, attentive servers and loved the ambiance! I would highly recommend this place to others and we' ll be back for sure.

Great restaurant! Delicious
Great restaurant! Delicious food! Such friendly service too!!!
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
I chose B&O for my anneversary dinner per reading about the restaurant in
A Baltimore's best type consumer review 2012.
You guys were 2nd to Woodberry's.
Ignorant as I am to the food scene in Baltimore, I wouldn't disagree with anything I read.
Everything was spot on. Had drinks at the bar before the reservation.
Bartender was knoledgable and suggested some spots to hit after dinner.
Everyone was friendly and they even brought use champagne on the house for the occasion.
2nd best in Bmore? Couldn't tell you, but I can say with confidence that I will be back.

We wanted to try a new restaurant with our friends and selected B&O Brasserie. We had read the recent review in the Sun and thought it sounded interesting. All four of us like food and we cook and eat all sorts of different things.
We ordered the yellowtail crudo, the smoked shrimp, brussels sprouts and a butter lettuce salad and shared everything - all excellent. Really interesting flavors and beautiful presentation.
Entree choices were the snapper, the scallops, the shrimp and clams and the crabcake. Again all were excellent - I think the scallops were the best.
Cocktail choices are quite exotic - our friends didn't recognize most of the ingredients. Server was helpful with direction. We'll come back again!

The tilefish was amazing! Appreciated the use if in season veggies throughout the menu.

Food was very good. Not disappointi
Food was very good. Not disappointing. Melon soup was delicious; pizza was good; pit beef was great. the service however, was extremely slow and unattentive. Had to beg for additional water and asked for the check twice and waited almost 15 minutes for check. I have experienced slow service there before, but not like this. And, it was not really crowded. I do like the ambience and the food, and keep hoping the service will improve.

Had a very late reservation since I was driving in from the NYC area, so decided to just get dessert and drinks. Absolutely amazing desserts!!! was an excellent choice. Passion fruit sorbet was made fresh and the banana creme brulee was also amazing. Drinks were good, strong, and vibrant.

a diamond in the rough
A Great Spot In An Unlikely location. You Will Definitely Need To Make Use Of The Valet Services For Parking Is At A Premium Downtow. The Food Was was Amazing, Quality Of service was Very Nice. You Do Need To Be A Little Patient With The Wait Staff, TheytTake Their Time Collecting Your Order. Definitely A Date Night.

Great Hotel Restaurant
B&O American Brasserie is essentially the house restaurant for the Hotel Monaco, located just a few blocks north of Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The restaurant occupies two floors and is both small enough for a cozy date and big enough for parties of 5 or 7. The menu is ambitious and ingredients could be improved but the bar is top notch.
7/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
The B and O American Brasserie was very good. The red snapper was superb. We went for Baltimore Restaurant Week and my spouse ordered from that menu and was very pleased. I chose the regular menu and found the the dishes excellent. The service was good and friendly. Having valet parking is a real plus. This is a place we will visit again.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Menu is always is exciting and surprising in all categories - appetizers, entrees & desserts.
7/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We ate here during Baltimore Restaurant Week. Some of us had the Restaurant Week specials, and some ordered off the menu. The crusted egg appetizer was particularly notable, as even a non-egg enthusiast thought it was very good. The entrees and desserts were also good; and the wine list, while not extensive have a few good options.

Great Food; Fair Service
The food was innovative - the corn sherbet was Fabulous, as was the creamy polenta with the crispy egg.
The service was fair - once we were seated, it took more than 5 minutes for our server to approach us to ask for drinks. I had to ask for my water to be refilled 3 times. Once we finished a course, our plates were not removed until the next course was served. When we completed our entree, we had to ask for the dessert to wait instead of the server inquiring.
We did go during restaurant week, and maybe the servers were not as attentive as normal, but that is inappropriate. If I am to return, it would be to sit at the bar and eat.

Tried restaurant during restaurant
Tried restaurant during restaurant week. The food was excellent and the service was great. The upstairs dining area is a great place for dinner. Will definitely come back.

Great drinks and eats!
I really enjoy any meal at B&O. I have been there for brunch and dinner and though their menu doesn't require the turning of multiple pages, the items that they have available are all unique, flavorful, and leave a favorable impression. The only complaint that one of my dining companions has had is that there is just not enough of the delicious food on one's plate. Portions are smaller than other locations, but the effect for me is a pleasantly full feeling versus feeling obligated to eat every morsel on my plate. I personal love their steak--very flavorful and carefully cooked to my liking. Our server was helpful, particularly in recommending a spectacularly crafted drink for me. I am so happy to have dined there!

My husband and I went here for our one year wedding anniversary. I made a reservation, the called to remind me, and seated us immediately when we walked in the door. The hostess congratulated us on our anniversary as we walked to our table. Our waiter was very polite and helpful. We hardly waited for any of the courses (we went during Restaurant Week and got the 3 course meal). All of the food was tasty and some quite unique. Because it was our anniversary, we got complimentary chocolate covered strawberries, which were delicious. The ambiance was lovely, and it's still somewhat casual, as my husband and I both wore jeans and were not under-dressed. I recommend this restaurant1

Another good experience
I've eaten here on numerous occasions, often alone or with a friend with not a lot of time before we have to catch a movie or concert. Although I had 3 courses, I still got out of the restaurant with plenty of time to spare (I had only about an hour to eat). The service was a little less attentive than usual, but the food was incredible as always. My one huge disappointment was the oysters. This is the third time I've dined here over the course of a year where I've had a lot of shale in my oysters, which made them less enjoyable to eat. I love oysters, but I think I probably won't order them here anymore. It's unfortunate, but at this point I think I've lost faith in whoever's shucking in the kitchen.
8/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a great dinner tonight. The food was flavorful, plentiful and beautifully presented. The service was friendly, attentive and very professional. The ambiance is "old times" elegance and cozy with comfortable seats and just right lightning. The value of the meal was outstanding (after 5 small plates, 2 beers, 2 desserts, cappuccino and port we were very full, and satisfied paying only $125 total). Highlights: Burrata, Grilled Wild Boar Terrine, Roasted Garlic Sausage, Yellow Tail Snapper Crudo and Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler). Finally we've found Baltimore restaurant which is close to New York, Philadelphia standards of New American, farm to table dining and very affordable. We recommend this restaurant highly and will be back soon.

Outstanding for dinner or breakfast
Both of our mains and starter were thoughtfully and creatively prepared... But above all popping with wonderful flavor.
Waitstaff were thoroughly versed in the cocktail menu. Which by the way I had to have two different ones because they were so well crafted. Bartender was outstanding. Didn't meet him but he's so good.
Breakfast was also superb with excellent coffee and generous omelets. We stayed in the adjacent hotel Monaco so we thought we'd give it a try. Impressive.
Looks like they had no trouble with larger parties. I'd make a reservation for dinner no matter the party size though.
Good sign for a hotel restaurant when locals frequent it for dinner. Try the manchego truffle fries and the burratta mozzarella starter.

What a gem tucked inside an historic landmark! The food and service were outstanding! What a great w=ay to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!!
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service was excellent, food delicious, definitely want the recipe for the short ribs they were the star of the night. My lump crab cake was good but a little too even in flavor, I felt it was missing something. The peach tart with caramel ice cream was suberb.
I mentioned in my reservation it was our anniversary and they greeted us with complimentary bubbly- it was very nice. The hostess also was very cordial.

Unique to Baltimore
We selected the B&O American Brasserie for out of town business clients coming to Baltimore. We were seated upstairs which was quiet enough for conversation but not isolated. Because the restaurant is in the historic B&O Railroad building, the architecture is beautiful and unique. The food was very good. We each selected a seafood dish; no one was disappointed. We also selected different seasonal desserts which were also excellent - tasted homemade. Service was attentive but not intrusive. While I am not a wine drinker, my companions did order from the extensive wine list and were pleased. For a memorable dining experience, I'd recommend B&O American Brasserie.

A great hotel restaurant
I like having good food within easy reach when I travel, so I do my best to find hotels with notable restaurants. Many times the reality doesn't coincide with the publicity. In this case, it most certainly did. This restaurant in the Monaco Klimpton Baltimore is by far one of the best I've come across. The menu is not huge, but the variety of dishes is wide enough to appeal to most tastes. And I had no problem putting together a wonderful dinner of a couple of excellent appetizers and a vegetarian main dish to help me stay on my diet despite the typical vacation seduction of crazy food choices and no exercise. The two-story restaurant houses a great bar on the lower level and comfortable, quiet seating throughout. Great choice!

A Brasserie that accomodates
A Brasserie that accomodates Vegans
For a quiet table request, upstairs.
The Vegan is Roasted Beets (assorted beets / giardiniera / quinoa / faro / lentils) had an unexpected sweetness. Bistro food also excellent.

Cozy, Romantic Pre Game Dinner
Nice atmosphere, great cocktails. Pot roast portion was too small and ribeye undercooked but it did not detract from the dining experience.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Quiet dinner on Sunday night. The special was delicious. Service was good. Restaurant is beautiful as is the lobby to the adjacent Hotel Monaco. Highly recommend.
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tomatoe salad - awesome; Queen Bee cocktail - really, really great; truffle fries with the steak - as good as promised however, we think they forgot our order since it was a long wait between appetizer and the entree. Plan to go back.

A bit expensive but delicious food!
We didn't try much but what we had was delicious, albeit pretty expensive.

All of our food was amazing. Doesn't seem like a place for kids, but the waitress made my son a kid's cup. Delicious and excellent decor.

varied menu and exciting choices, but experience muted by indifferent server who reeked of cigarette and poor attitude.

Great food mediocre service
Like all Kimpton restaurants, the B&O Brasserie had a unique and tasty menu. The liver app was to die for.
unlike most Kimpton restaurants, the service was not top notch. Service was slow and the check was wrong and needed to be recalculated.

1st Time Brunch-goer
After coming to B&O plenty for dinner, it was nice to try brunch. We had bottomless mimosas, chicken & biscuit, and duck confit bake with cheddar grits, oysters, and fries. Everything was delicious, but several missteps: My grits came out ice cold (and were re-heated), the oysters (which weren't on the menu, but we asked for and were accommodated with) were not cleaned AT ALL (very unpleasant to eat, even though they're one of my favorite varietals), and our server was a bit inattentive ( there were only 3 tables in the whole restaurant). The food took a VERY long time to come (we coursed our meal and each course took over 30 minutes to come out). Luckily, we weren't in a hurry. The main courses were exquisitely delicious, though!

Food was delicious and our waitress, Ashley, was very attentive. Definitely will eat here again when back in Baltimore!!

Good food & setting...but long wait
I enjoyed the food at B&O, and our server was quite good, as well. The only downside was how long it took to receive our main courses. We were seated a few minutes early from our reservation time, at 6:20, which was plenty of time to eat before an 8PM show a few blocks away. However, we did not receive our entrees until an hour after we arrived, despite ordering promptly and receiving our appetizers pretty quickly; the delay meant we had to hurry to finish our meal in order to make it to the theater in time. My rating on the service at the restaurant would have been higher, if not for this. I am not sure where the communication breakdown occurred, but it was a disappointment, considering that we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Restaurant week via Kimpton Hotels
Went as Kimpton was running a special. 3 course for 35 & bottle of wine for $35. All was good. Dessert was exceptionally - a flouess chocolate cake. Crab cake was very good as was the skirt steak. I will say that the special is what drew our attention. While I would recommend, I feel the regular price menu was on the high side for the entrees. Arugula salad great. Flat bread shroom pizza was okay.

Great Lunch Spot to celebrate!
Nice place to celebrate for lunch. Wait staff went above and beyond to make everyone feel special. Deserts were fabulous. OMG the roasted figs were lovely.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
Entree selection essential
We ate here 2 nights. The first night we had excellent entrees--the duck and the pork shoulder. The second night was disappointing--the Monday burger special and the pizza. Both nights, we ate the chicken liver appetizer, which is outstanding!
The service both nights was wonderful.

All-around great downtown spot
Beautiful restored historic building in the heart of downtown with a hip brasserie ... And astonishingly good food, in healthy portions served with a friendly, welcoming vibe. This is a place for today's adults--where you can bring your family to enjoy a nice night out with kids as company, and feel perfectly normal--no banishment to the back of the restaurant, or hidden away, or having to negotiate with the staff to find something the kids can eat with relish. Or have a nice meal as a couple, friends, or hang out at the bar if you are on your own. Thank you! It's about time!

Unexpected great food
Great food in Baltimore? Yes, it's true - wonderful steak frites, great service and interesting beer and wine list....a perfect stopover when traveling south from NYC and worth the trip for a weekend....
11/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice food, nice service, yummy drin
I liked the fancy drinks, but I thought their entrees were limited. I ended up getting three plates from the "great for sharing" section which ended up being the same price as an entree and waaaay more food and I got to try a bunch of different things. They have a different food special every night. Its one of those standard fancy restaurants attached to a hotel type of places and its somewhat pricy but the food and service is solid. The parking situation is annoying and you either have to use valet or park far away and walk. Right in the heart of downtown if looking for somewhere to go for a meal whilst visiting as a tourist.

Fantastic butcher's choice
Fantastic butcher's choice steak. Cooked rare just as we asked. Good breakfast, too. Great tasting food, nothing too fancy.

Whenever we stay at a Kimpton hotel, we always try to eat at the adjoining restaurant. They all's way seem good and this one did not let us down. We ate there two night and enjoyed both meals.

First Time Special Occasion @ B&O
My first time at Baltimore B&O and the decor was immaculate, food scrumptious; an overall exquisite evening for a special occasion. Will definitely recommend to others!
