Awesome food & service!
Everything about this experience was awesome! The food was great. Our servers were very intuitive and friendly. Definitely a neighborhood gem! Recommend it for couples. Place is small so large groups are not recommended.

For the money this place has the best tasting menu with wine pairings in the city.

The meal was enjoyable, but
The meal was enjoyable, but I do have two suggestions/concerns.
1. When we walked into the restaurant it immediately smelled very strongly of fried food. I know that there are a number of fried dishes on the menu, so I suppose that this may not be avoidable (especially given the open kitchen), but I did find the smell rather overwhelming, and I have to say, I was not expecting it from a restaurant that's advertised as a stylish bistro.
2. When both my dining partner and I were nearing the end of our meals, our waiter asked, "Are you still working on that?" I think it's SO unappealing when waiters ask if you're still WORKING on food that is supposed to be a pleasure to eat. The waiters should just ask, "May I take your plate?"

Phenomenal! We eat out frequently, often for business, and the four of us were overwhelmingly impressed with the delicious food and creative selections. We ordered the tasting menu and requested dairy free due to one member of the party and it was outstanding. All four of us said this was the best meal we could remember eating. Days later we re still salivating!

Would have given the food
Would have given the food 5 stars, but I hated my entree. All apps and desserts were amazing and my boyfriend gave his entree an A+. Don't get the flank steak! The desserts were some of the best I've ever had...banana cream pie with a chocolatey goodness on the side and the butter cake! YUM!

Very nice restaurant. Smaller
Very nice restaurant. Smaller than I expected. Drink List was OK, but they did not have a very good cognac selection much to my father dismay, and also did not have his first choice of beverage Captain Morgan, but did have "Sailor Jerry"!
The braised short ribs had a dry texture, but the risotto that accompanied it was great. The salmon was amazing and the mahi mahi was great as well. I will go back, its great for a quick, no fuss bite with friends.
But again, very small, so maybe not for a big group get together!

First time, but it won't be
First time, but it won't be our last. The food was wonderful and service was very good. A neighborhood gem. Strongly recommend it.

My friends and I met here
My friends and I met here for a Girls Night during Restaurant Week. We were happy with all of our selections, and so excited for the "Bonus" features on the day that we were there.
We were given a booth at the back of the restaurant, which was perfect for us to be able to catch up!
Can't wait to try their brunch next!

Good but not great
We had a very nice time at Tremont 647. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The Thai curry muscles were decent, but the Korean beef dumplings were better. We also had the Mahi Mahi which was the clear winner of the night, versus the cod which was somewhat bland. Although the food was tasty, the flavors were not explicitly pronounced and could have used some kick to make them stand out. The deserts were the weakest part of the meal, which the coconut lime panacotta was subtle, bordering on boring. The peanut butter and chocolate brownie was good, but too dense and the Baileys ice cream was a nice compliment, but the serving size of the ice cream proportionately in relation to the brownie was too small. Overall, not bad.

We have eaten here twice and both times the food was excellent. Very casual and comfortable.

Nice Neighborhood Spot
Great food. Recommend the lobster mac n cheese, and the country fried chicken. The banana cream pie and butter cake were both tasty for dessert!
A little bit toasty near the open kitchen though. Nothing a little ice water couldn't cure.

We had a great time here.
We had a great time here. The Burger Daddy and Lobster Mac & Cheese were both excellent. The bar in the front is lively and even though there was a large group there having a good time, we were happy at our table and could still have a good conversation. I would definitely go back!

Great place for a birthday!
I went there with a group for my birthday. The service was great and they were very accommodating to my changing reservation. The food was tasty and the cocktails were excellent. I had a great time celebrating there and they made me feel very special!

Great service, great value!
The food was as good as at many much more expensive restaurants - particularly the basil ice cream with the strawberry chocolate tart. Service was excellent, even those staff not helping our table were wonderfully polite and welcoming. Great experience, I would definitely come back.

Food was very good. Mac and cheese a must..excellent. Others had ribs, lamb and cod..all very good.
Waitstaff pleasant and attentive. Noise level very high inside though...yikes! Could have just been the night and the crowd.
Would return here.

This restaurant is wonderful. The Chef is very accomodating and the staff equally so. I brought a large party on a Friday night and everyone enjoyed the food and ambience. Will definitely be returning.

Delicious but noisy
What's with the Motown at full blast? Feels dated, or maybe it's retro.

Absolutely fantastic drinks
We were celebrating a friends birthday and therefore ordered a couple rounds of drinks. I tried 2 and both were excellent (I think they were the Pimm's lemonade and the Raspberry-Lime Ricky martini). They had that great subtle layering of flavor that makes a good drink a great drink. Extremely impressed with the bar tender here and will certainly be back.

We did the 5 course Chef's choice. Nice meal with choices mostly on the regular menu but a nice chat with the Chef regarding the food. Fun evening.

Great place for side-walk
Great place for side-walk seating, people watching and great food! Service was attentive and friendly, food simple but imaginatively prepared. South asian pulled pork had been grilled out-back and had great flavors with some kick to it. Portions were pleasantly modest which left room for dessert, really good cheesecake with freshly prepared cherries on top. Perfect location, just a brief walk down Tremont for a concert.

Excellent all around experience! Food, drinks, staff, all A+. Will be back and will highly recommend to friends

You wouldn't know it from its modest exterior, but Tremont 647 has a wonderful menu and atmosphere. The sampler menu was incredible and the staff were knowledgeable and courteous. Great place to hang out and feel at home. If you're in Boston, make a point of going there.
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
My Girlfriend and I went there on Sunday. Very load bar crowd on a late sunday afternoon. Liked the open kitchen.
We had the Mac and Cheese with lobster which was excellent. I also recommend the Beer Brined Half Chicken. I wish it had a better side dish. The Potato Green Bean salad was ok.
The Homemade stuffed Tater Tots were good (and Huge) also.

Tasty Tasting Dinner
Unlike other tasting dinners I've tried this dinner was tailored to our table based on our likes, dislikes and food allergies. We had two gluten-free diners at our table of four and the chef managed to to transform all but one dessert into a gluten-free gastronomical delight for all to enjoy!

South End Fave
Heard good reports so decided to check it out--alone--during Restaurant Week. Don't know if they pitied me or thought I was a foodie, but the staff could not have been nicer, gave me a choice of several locations (NOT the lovely quaint street patio, however ;) & even bringing me an extra starter "on the house", superb & much better than the one I'd chosen. My waiter was a gem, offered comments on designer drinks & wines (both of which were excellent) etc & just attentive enough. The menu did not disappoint, the crowd was jovial, & the ambiance loud, modern & spare, yet perfectly matched to this history brick townhouse neighborhood. I see why it is a popular Boston hangout & will be back!
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
We went for restaurant week as I've never been. I love the idea of an open kitchen without being overpowered by the scent of food. Our server was pleasant and the food was very good. I would visit again.
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
I came here for restaurant week due to seeing some items on the menu that caught my eye. The wings are a must have but the cherry cheesecake although good was to rich for such a big portion. The staff were very attentive and helpful and the drinks were ok but not amazing
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Didn't feel rushed. Everything came at the perfect time.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were there during restaurant
We were there during restaurant week in late August, and it was not crowded. We ordered from the special, restaurant-week menu, and the food was terrific. Most of the appetizers and entrees featured local, seasonal ingredients. I ordered a salad with grilled peaches followed by bluefish that was grilled perfectly and set on a bed of corn and crab. The service was very good, too. My only cavil is that it felt a bit rushed. Maybe that's because we were asked to order all 3 courses at once due to the special menu, and because the place was not busy so the food came quickly. But we were there on an atypical night, and it's usually crowded, so I don't think being rushed is usually the case. I recommend it.

My friend & I had the fish
My friend & I had the fish entrees, they were cooked perfectly and the sauces were so delicious. Their ice tea was strong but good. I gad banana cream pie with chocolate bar. The chocolate was made from bacon & nut. It was very interesting. Overall it was very positive experience.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service here are fantastic, this is the cream of the crop of South End bistros.

The outstanding aspect of
The outstanding aspect of our recent experience was the chef/owner's attentiveness. Andy was in the kitchen and observed us moving tables to get away from a large, noisy group, and he came over and offered us a different table, one the hostess had previously said was not available. I don't fault her for having told us that, since that undoubtedly was her instruction, but Andy himself made sure we had what we needed to be comfortable, and that enhanced our experience. I'd say the place falls somewhere vibrant bar scene and neighborhood gem. The food was good, and the place got louder as the night wore on.

amazing mid week experience
Thursday was very notable this week thanks to Tremont 647. We shared a variety of small plates. The seared scallops on a bed of roasted cauliflower was perfect. The scallops were seared perfectly and the nuttiness of the cauliflower was just the right contrast to the sweetness of the scallops. The service was impeccable. The banana cream pie was the perfect ending to a great evening.

Great night out with foodie friends
Tremont 647 offers new twists on old standards and new items that should become staples (i'm looking at you fontina stuffed tater tots). Our group enjoyed everything from wine to dessert. The wine list is great with some excellent and high quality options (we went red and had two great bottles of pinot noir and merlot). We tried three appetizers - the dumplings, the lobster mac and cheese and the wings. All delicious and elevated far above your "run of the mill" wings, dumplings and mac and cheese. Everyone enjoyed their entree - I had the steak over corn and mushrooms and it was amazing. Fontina stuffed tater tots made the dish! For dessert we enjoyed the smores brownie and the banana creme pie. A fantastic meal!

My wife had pan seared bluefish and I had cider brined pork chop. Excellent! Chop was tasty, tender, cooked just right. Nice apple taste. Bed of greens etc. were wonderful complement with enjoyable texture. Similar take on bluefish. My wife especially liked crisp finish on fish. Pear crumb cake was just okay. Service was fast and friendly -- but this was Sunday night and there were not many patrons except at the bar. Music and people at bar were a bit loud. But I always prefer quiet when I eat. They have a front that opens up to connect bar with patio cafe area.I definitely plan to return and hope that the food will be as good the second time.

High quality food, high volume!
This restaurant was packed and popular but we scored a reservation and were seated immediately. The volume made conversation difficult and you should definitely plan to come here with a large group of people with loud voices; however, the food was amazing and service was great. We had been aiming for a nice romantic dinner for two at a neighbourhood place and you might get that here on a Monday night, but clearly the busy times are super busy! We loved the generous servings and both the steak and the bluefish were fantastic - could almost not decide which was better. The wait staff were attentive (but not too much so), and refilled our water as soon as it was needed and revisited our table to check that things were ok.

Impressive all around
I received a giftcard for Tremont 647 and after reviewing the menu online, I was excited. They served complimentary foccacia bread with bean dip which was delicious (and they replenished the bread when we finished it!) and we ordered the Korean Beef Dumplings which were also great. I thought the portion was too small at first (4 pieces) but by the time the food came I was happy the portion was so small because the entree portion was very generous. I ordered the Grass Fed 1/2 Pound Burger Daddy which was huge and delicious. The fries were also pretty perfect. The staff were all very friendly and efficient.

Had a pre theater dinner at Tremont 647. First time there and would defintely come back. Wanted to try the tasting menu but did not have enough time. The drinks, appetizer and entree were first rate and a very interesting blend of flavors. Wait staff (all of them) were extremely knowledgeable and attentive. A very good choice.
