Our group ended up staying
Our group ended up staying until closing and we didn't know it was closed because the staff still took care of us and made sure we had all we need. I was very satisfied with the quality of the food and wine.

Another terrific visit...
Remains one of our neighborhood favorites when we are in the neighborhood for a show or other activity. Casual, comfortable atmosphere. Menu items have consistently exceeded expectations.

Great restaurant, great food.
Great restaurant, great food. I was visiting NYC and didn't want to venture outside of the neighborhood for dinner. This was a perfect spot. My only complaint is that the server did not tell us about the house special, but we kept seeing it being delivered to tables and it looked absolutely yummy so I felt that we had missed out on a great dish so I definitely recommend asking what they are known for and their most ordered dish.

The food was delicious. Service
The food was delicious. Service was a bit spotty, but perhaps intentionally so, to let us breathe a bit. Wine list was small, but covered the basics. Incredible music selection.

Service efficient and timely.
Service efficient and timely. Food was terrific. Good wine list. Noise level high.

Great bang for the buck
affordable with great food. The signature dish is a must and totally delicious. I went with 2 friends this time - we split a caprese salad, and ordered the lasagna along with the cacao e pepe. It was plenty without feeling stuffed. We shared a dessert. A good go-to and I will return!

Excellent Food - Good Service
My review would have been higher had it not seemed as though we were rushed through our $400 dinner. We reserved and confirmed a 10pm reservation. And yet when we arrived the staff was less than thrilled to be seating at 10pm and as other patrons finished we just began our meal and the staff cleaned around us. The food was excellent and despite the initial negativity the staff was pleasant during our meal - although they cleaned around us. Would have been nice not to feel rushed. If the restaurant prefers to not begin new service past 10pm - they should not accept reservations so late. Food was excellent otherwise!

Dining al fresco
Hidden neighborhood oasis; tastefully landscaped garden setting in the back of the restaurant with lush green bushes, trees and flowers; delicious Italian food; romantic hide-away on a balmy summer night

A Short Trip to Roma
We have been to Caccio e Pepe many times, especially for their signature dish: Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe (homemade tonnarelli pasta tossed in pecorino cheese with black peppercorns). But based on the quality of a recent visit, we plan to dine here more often. The service is always friendly and efficient. The summer menu includes a salad and two pastas which were excellent: Baby Spinach Salad, Watermelon, Goat Cheese & Toasted Almonds; Artichoke Ravioli, Parmesan Cream, Ginger & Lime; and Homemade Fettuccine with Cantaloupe, Port Wine, Mint, Parmesan, Touch of Cream. If you haven't tried Cacio e Pepe, then do your tastebuds a favor and try it soon--it's a lot cheaper and quicker than a trip to Rome!

Amazing cacio e pepe...go figure!

Cacio e pepe is consistently delicious. My husband and I have been coming for years, and we continue to use it as a go-to for special occasions and moments.

Delicious food at a good value
My favorite Italian restaurant in the city. I recommend the veal with prosciutto and sage, and the cod fish. The entrees are served with a green vegetable and a carb. The roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe are outstanding! I've seen people order the signature dish, spaghetti served in a hollowed out huge chunk of cheese. It looks superb. There's a tranquil garden in the back though on hot nights, I prefer to sit in the air conditioned dining room.

we return to cacio e pepe over and over and this place never fails. their signature dish is amazing but if you venture further into the menu you'll be really pleased with their salads, other pastas and mains including great fish. highly reco this place.

Fantastic food in a quiet garden
We have been here many times and keep coming back to introduce our friends to the delicious food. The signature Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe (homemade Tonnarelli Tossed in Pecorino with Black Peppercorns) is outstanding, and recently they added a wonderful Fettuccine al Melone (homemade Fettuccine with Cantaloupe, Port Wine, Mint, Parmesan, Touch of Cream) which is different from any pasta dish we've ever had before and is superb. They always have several inventive salads, our favorites are the Arugula, Pear & Pecorino Salad and the Baby Spinach Salad, Watermelon, Goat Cheese & Toasted Almonds. This time the weather was nice so we ate in the garden which was delightfully comfortable and quiet.

Lovely backyard for outdoor
Lovely backyard for outdoor dining on a summer evening. Fish and pasta were perfectly cooked. Service was excellent.

Our table had five fifferent pastas and each was excellent.

Haven been to Cacio e Pepe in a couple of years. The service was really good as was the cacio e pepe. The standout however was an absolutely perfect rendition of Amatriciana. It was spot on and as good as any as we have had in Rome. Brava!
9/8/2013 5:00:00 PM
Cant get enough of the cacio e pepe dish. Especially the way it is served! We sat outside in the garden with some friends. Good wine, good pastas and pretty garden made for a very nice evening. Definetly going back.

Colorful murals, welcoming and attentive staff, and good food (we had the salmon) added up to a lovely evening. Place has a garden out back which we plan to try in warmer weather. Recommended for friends' night out.
9/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had their signature pasta dish and it was delicious! Sat outside in the back which was also very nice. Great service!

Do yourself a favor
Cacio e Pepe keeps excellent company (Scalini Fedeli, Pepolino, Del Posto, Malatesta, Babbo). It may not have the name recognition of some other excellent Italian restaurants, but, believe me, Cacio e Pepe "vaut le detour" (is worth searching out). The food and service are excellent, the garden charming when the weather cooperates. The eponymous main dish is, for all its simplicity (indeed, perhaps because of it), absolutely delicious. It is the only food I have ever actually dreamed about. The waitstaff could not be more friendly and professional. And all for a fair price. Highly recommended.

Great for Kids - excellent service
We had a wonderful birthday dinner with our one and 3 year olds. The food was excellent and the staff could not have been more welcoming or attentive. Wonderful experience all round

the Cacio e Pepe at Cacio e Pepe is the best! It is my addiction, I love eating here. One of my guests was not a cheese fan, and a bit of a picky eater. Our waitress made some wonderful suggestions, customized the meal for her & it was amazing. I forgot how
good a really good red sauce could be.
