I've eaten at Xiomara so many
I've eaten at Xiomara so many times and have discovered so many "must have" dishes that choosing becomes more difficult with each visit. This time, though, I did stray from my usual set of choices for lunch, and was happy to discover the yumminess of their Fish Tacos. My dining partner had the Rock Shrimp & Truffle Oil Risotto (one of my usuals) -- that dish is pure genius!

Xiomara is a real gem. Far
Xiomara is a real gem. Far enough away from the traffic hassles further west on Melrose, it offers a wonderful ambiance and a creative menu in pretention-free environment. The food is a creative variation on Latin cuisine. Be sure to try the sweet potato croquets and surrender to the temptation of a soufflé for dessert.

Truly best mojito ive ever
Truly best mojito ive ever had. Ever. Appetizers were mediocre. Entrees were outstanding. The side dishes are to die for. Service is absolutely top notch.

Beautiful restaurant, killer mojito
This restaurant is just beautiful, and it is sad that it isn't busier. The mojitos are still the best, served in fun, slanted glasses. The black bean soup is wonderful, the bread and dips to start are delicious. We got the risotto and it was just okay. I think sticking with the cuban-inspired dishes is probably a good call. And get a mojito.

Nice to be back!
I hadn't been back to Xioamara for several weeks -- seemed like ages. Being there again reminded me why it remains one of my fave LA restaurants. I love the decor and the uplifting energy I feel there. The service is always so pleasant; and food.... SOOO GOOD!

Xiomara Always Good!
We usually eat here later in the evening after a movie or concert. This time we had great shrimp and jalapeno app and salads for dinner. I liked my Caesar more that he liked his duck confit. Good wine by the glass selection and an addictive bread basket.

We went on a Saturday and it was pretty empty to our surprise. But that was all the better. The ambiance was fantastic - very romantic, but not too formal. The service was really good and the bartender did an excellent job on our drinks! I'm not much of a mojito person, but the White Wine Sangria was one of the bests I've ever had.
ALL the food was delicious and you could tell the chef enjoyed the craft! The mussels were mouth-watering good.
My only criticism is that I asked for the seafood paella without the sausage, but they forgot to take it out. They agreed to fix it, but I was soo hungry that I picked them out myself.
We are definitely going back and might try to host a dinner party there at some point.

special quick emergency dinner find
I went on OpenTable to find a reservation during dinner rush hour on Saturday night. They were not only in our price range but, immediately available for 4, an amazing jazz record playing, great service and mussels.
next time I'm getting the lamb and a bottle of a nice red...perhaps the chocolate souffle mmmmm

We choose this restaurant
We choose this restaurant because it was a highly recommended Caribbean Place. We didn't see any of that so it was disapointed. The restaurant was fine with great food, but we expected something else.

Continues To Shine
Every time we dine here we're amazed that we don't come back more frequently. There are many restaurants to dine at in Los Angeles but this is a restaurant that deserves multiple visits. From food and service to ambience it has it all. What are you waiting for. Go!

Wish they had cuban music
The food is always good, but this is a Cuban restaurant. Need some Cuban ambiance. Always a relaxing place for dinner. Would have liked to try some more authentic type Cuban food, especially desserts

We've followed Xiomara from her restaurant in Pasadena to the current location on Melrose. On all our special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries) we always go there. We've had several large parties at both locations, and it's always a wonderful experience. Thank you, Xiomara. Sheila & Fritz Glaser

Best Mojitos in Town
Upscale Cuban influenced menu. Started with the ceviche which was fresh and served with long spoons in a martini glass. The soup du jour was a light and tasty sweet potato puree. Very pleasing. The hot and fresh from the terrine lamb shank was so succulant the meat jumped off the bone and melted in my mouth. The Ceasar salad was fresh and crisp and served with "Boquerones" also called "White Anchovies" which are far less salty, fishy or overpowering as the oily standard ones most places use. Love their mojitos made from fresh ground sugar cane stalks served in uniquely tilted tall boy glasses. Nice jazz standards playing and flattering lighting/ambience. Not crowded week nights. Looking fwd. to returning. Recommend highly!
