I have returned many times
I have returned many times to the irish Inn. The food has always been great and the service usually excellent. Although it was relatively quiet when we arrived, it became increasingly difficult to even have a good conversation once people began to fill the facility. I suppose there is no easy remedy to this except to hope that folks will be more considerate of others when their conversation becomes so loud as to impinge on others' "hearing space." I do recommend the Inn to many other people and they have always given me good feedback once they have tried it out.

Generally had a very nice time, as usual. I don't know what the restaurant can do about some customers' very loud talk. I had difficulty hearing my friend's conversation.

Great food and service!
Delicious trout and excellent service. After waiter learned we were celebrating my friend's birthday, he brought a delicious chocolate cake and ice cream, compliments of the house.

We have never been disappointed
We have never been disappointed at The Irish Inn. This particular day, as always, our food was delicious - the salmon for my salad was incredible - and the service was excellent. Our servers were friendly and efficient, which we have found here time and time again. Overall - a great place!

Pleasant Outdoor Spot
Enjoyed a very nice lunch of potato/leek soup and wedge salad w/iced tea the other day on the porch. Ceiling fans kept the air moving. A nice spot just off the beltway with easy parking.

A Place with a Difference
A bit of country practically in the city, the Inn has very good food, a terrific porch for outdoor dining and a lively bar scene (at least on Sunday evening when a jazz group was playing). We've had Sunday brunch and dinner there at different times and enjoyed both. Service can be a little slow, especially when they are busy, but the place invites lingering.

Great dessert. Relaxed and charming. this time service was slow, only one waiter serving our room.

Food was fresh but nothing
Food was fresh but nothing outstanding -- just good. Menu is better than I remember so that is a plus.

Longstanding neighborhood gem nestled next to Glen Echo park. Genuinely Irish owned and a smattering of Irish servers. Wonderful warm bar for informal meals; great rooms for dining -feel like you are in someone's home, and an outdoor patio - a bit spartan but feels great to sit outside. Several dishes on menu in the Irish tradition. Shepherd's pie and beef stew always a treat. Guinness on tap and a full bar and wine menu. Service warm and welcoming and good to be able to sit and talk at leisure rather than being rushed.

Consistently good, but exceptional.
Pleasant and competent staff. Diverse but not extensive menu. Well prepared. Our part enjoyed salmon, chicken, beef stew. Salads a bit expensive at $12.

Why haven't I dined here before?
Wonderful food, excellent server, picturesque setting, nothing to complain about!

Great, as always
My young granddaughter and I had lunch at the Irish Inn. This was her second or third visit, and the Irish Inn is quickly becoming her favorite restaurant.

Great lunch with a friend
I'm a long-time fan of the Irish Inn and was not disappointed on my latest visit. I had the salmon cakes, which could have been a bit moister and less bland. The mini-scones were perfect. Friend had the shepherd's pie. Both of us cleaned our plates. And we weren't rushed, service was good, and I need to get back again to try a dessert and check out the bar.
7/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Been to restaurant 3 times now. Each time with other couples. No one has had any complaints. Had several items all excellent. Corn Beef and Cabbage fantastic, Trout wonderful, Fish and CHips genuite, Guiness great, Service unbelievably efficient + friendly.
What more can you want???

Great neighborhood spot
This place is just a great neighborhood spot. The music in the bar is as IRISH as it gets, and the bar scene is lively and fun. We had an outdoor meal that was really good, and the service was terrific. The owner came over to our table and chatted us up. He was fun, interesting, and made the overall experience very good.
I'd highly recommend this for a nice, fun, and relaxed night out.

Out of Towners Were Delighted!
Took out of town friends to Irish Inn on a Friday evening. We had an absolutely marvelous dinner, lovely service and they felt quite special that they had been to a local favorite. Had Irish Inn staples: fish cakes, fish and chips, for example. Even did dessert (ok Weight Watchers it WAS worth the points), in my case the bread pudding. The friends were so thrilled not to be at a chain (noted by the teen among us), and to be at a special "real" restaurant outside the tourist zones ( parental generation). It was happy contagion to be sitting in main dining room on 1 st floor among several ebullient groups of families and friends. Service was attentive as always, and a memorable evening resulted.
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Tried the new menu this time. The salmon cakes were wonderful as were the fish and chips (standard on the menu). This is a place to come back to again and again. Needs a better dessert menu, though. The banana parfait (no ice cream but still called a parfait) was meh.

Wonderful dining experience! Great food and great service.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
The Inn's food, service, drinks and atmosphere air consistantly good. That is why the place has so many regulars including me. I always feel welcome there. The staff is always friendly and the Inn draws a friendly clientel.
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
My spouse and I visited for the first time last Saturday evening. Warmly welcomed, quickly seated, and prompt attention by the waiter and other staff. Food was excellent and served hot. We liked that it appeared to be filled by local residents and while busy we never lacked any attention from the staff. Will certainly return again.

Cheers in Glen Echo
The Irish Inn is like the fictional Cheers -- friendly atmosphere, pleasant people and staff, good food and beverages and the staff and owners do know their customers names and treat them as friends. But unlike Cheers, The Irish Inn at Glen Echo is real and you can enjoy it in person rather than waiting for reruns on TV.

The food was amazing. The Rack of Lamb was an incredible dining treat. The bread and butter before and with the salad was a surprise disappointment of white heat and serve rolls and whipped butter. The food, wine and service were amazing and that bread accompaniment just did not fit and seemed out of place with the exceptional restaurant.

Top Marks for a "Tuesdays Bargain"
Nine of us went for a family celebration - and all had a great time. The filet, the crab cakes, the hors d'oeuvre selection and quality, are second to none in the area. For crabs, that means a lot in and around Maryland. For the filet, the chef goes for absolutely top grade - it's a tad above even the famed Cosmos Club's offering. This restaurant's "surf and turf" - a small filet and a crab cake - therefore make for an unbeatable combination. After much thought and consideration, especially of the superb pork we recently tried at this Inn, no fewer than seven of us went for the surf and turf - and enjoyed it to the last bite. Truly remarkable. A fine Oregon Pinot Noir complemented the meal nicely - and fine desserts topped it off.

To meet friends, it is conveniently in the middle of where we live
wished we could see the river though

I don't know how we've missed this wonderful restaurant. The traditional Irish menu is delicious and the decor takes you to another time -- in a good way. Our server was very patient as we took our time choosing wine and food. We were not rushed and felt comfortable staying to catch up with friends. It's tucked away on the edge of Glen Echo Park. Highly recommend!

warm and welcoming
The Irish Inn is a warm, friendly place where the staff and managers get to know you and make you feel welcome whether it is your first visit or you are a regular. As a result, the Inn's clientel reflects this atmosphere.

Our group of retired men continues to meet there and appreciate the reliably good food and service.

fish and chips fit for a Brit
Nice ambience, good food and service. Took my Britton friends who live in Gascony in SW France here for lunch. Tony, a Londoner, ordered the fish and chips and pronounced the dish delicious - flaky outside and moist and tasty fish. I shared a salad and flat bread with my friend and the dishes were both brought out already split and plated separately. They were both tasty and just the right size portions. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive enough.

Convenient and delightful
Two friends, catching up, on a glorious fall day, sitting outside, loving every minute.

Very good except
The mussels we shared were excellent, but the fish taco, which was made with tilapia, was flavorless. Wine prices are very reasonable when compared with other restaurants in the area. The rolls are terrible and should be replaced witih something from a good bakery. The outdoor dining area is very pleasant in mild weather, but the view of parked cars and asphalt detracts.

Wonderful corned beef and cabbage
Been here 3 times now, sitting in dining room, at a pub booth and outside on deck. Pub is my favorite (cozy, family friendly with a nice buzz of energy and there was live music the night we visited) but all good. Service friendly and attentive. Corned beef was tender, lean with great mustard sauce each time. Others all liked their choices too. Comforting food, warm place.

Pad Thai at an Irish pub?
Pad Thai at an Irish pub? Yes at the Irish Inn. My friend and I both had it and the dish was excellent. Just goes to show the versitility and sense of adventure in the kitchen.

Great food, great service
Great food, great service, but the $12 for the kids meal was a waste of money.

Tuesdays are a bargain
This restaurant offers a "prix fixe" bargain on Tuesdays: 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert for $33. Everything on the menu is included. Only condition: all diners at the table go for the prix fixe. We opted for this several times now - at our first visit we stumbled into it because our event happened to be on a Tuesday and we found out about the deal after we sat down for dinner. Anyhow, we are impressed with the quality of offerings, especially beef and seafood are of impressively high quality, lean, virtually no fat, high quality meat. Appetizers are impressive, too, The mussels were of top quality and the portion to be excellent / generous. Desserts, too, are nice - this time we had fresh berries, very nice and plentiful.

A friend and I have lunch at the inn most Fridays. The food is always very good to excellent. The service is always great and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. That is why my friend and I keep going back. I know many others who do the same. I also have had dinner there with family and friends and from time to time stop by on Sunday and Monday eveni gs for the music. The inn is a comfortable gem in an increasingly uncomfortable world.

Irish Charm in DC!
This was the first time that we went for the Irish music on Monday night and we really enjoyed it! The food is absolutely lovely - I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

The Irish Inn serves a wonderful lunch and the staff is very attentive. I had my favorite, Shepherd's Pie and it was terrific!
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
I have been a regular customer for ten years. I have never been disappointed in a meal, the service or price. The atmosphere is always friendly from the owners down through the staff. It doesn't matter to the Inn whether you are there for a big meal with a group or are by yourself for a happy hour beer. You will be welcomed no matter what. Unfortunately that is all too rare at bars and restaurants these days.

Quiet neighborhood dinner
We had a nice dinner with another couple and were pleased that it was quiet with a nice ambiance.
Our server was professional, pleasant and accommodating.
Another pleasant and good experience at the Inn.

The inn is a pleasant place for lunch with a friend, which I do regularly. On the latest visit, I had the Guinness beef stew and a Guinness draft. It was great comfort food on a chilly day. My friend had swordfish and concluded, after he had eaten all of it, that it maybe was a bit rarer then he likes it. But he added it was still very good. I got ton the inn a lot because I like it we lot--friendly staff, owners and customers. A pleasant, warm place to go.

Gem minutes from Ellicott City
My husband and I had dinner at The Elkridge Furnace Inn for the first time last night. Let me say it was beyond wonderful! To start the waiter brought us a little delight from the chef while we waited for our appetizers. Delish! The filet and crab cakes are perfection, the service personable and they anticipated our every need. We finished off with the pumpkin cheesecake. Writing this makes my mouth water...the dessert was scrumptious!

We booked and had a very quiet corner of the second floor. The staff was welcoming and the food was good. We're new to Glen Echo and it's great to find a warm welcome at what could become our new local.

A lovely Thanksgiving meal
Irish Inn served a lovely Thanksgiving meal. I have never had a bad meal here whether I was going into the pub for some traditional pub food or in the dining room for a special dinner, it is always very good. We were in the upstairs room for Thanksgiving so it was charming and quiet and the food was very tasty. The server was very attentive, but thankfully he wasn't overly so and allowed us to enjoy our meal without asking every ten minutes whether we needed anything. This was a blessing for a Thanksgiving meal. It was a wonderful relaxing Thanksgiving.
