We opened the place for dinner
We opened the place for dinner because we had 7 PM show tickets, so it was very quiet. Wine list is almost exculsively European wines. We went with the waiter's recommendation, which was fine--an Austrian wine akin to chardonnay. We both got teh Wiener Schnitzel, which was very good, although not as good as we've had in Vienna at Figmuller's (sp?). This is a good option if you have early Broadway show tickets since it's in easy walking distance.

What more can you ask?

This is fine and creative
This is fine and creative Austrian cuisine with a wine list to match. A little on the expensive side, but worth it. The prix fixe for lunch is a great deal and very economical if wine and coffee is avoided. The wait staff is patient and knowledgeable.

Austria at its best
Hervorragende österreichische Küche, die wir sehr genossen haben. Große und gute Weinauswahl. Gott sei Dank keine übergroßen Portionen, wie es sonst in Österreich üblich ist. Sehr netter und kompetenter SErvice.

Quiet place. Excellent food.
I have eaten many times here and food and service has been consistently excellent.

A Taste of Austria in the USA
Seasonal hits the spot for anyone looking to connect with, or rekindle, Austrian cuisine.
Heartily recommend this mid-town Manhattan gem!

A quiet Monday Night
Went there on a quiet Monday night. Wait staff was attentive and very polite, even encouraging us to stay longer to finish our wine.
Food was good. There are some bold combinations in their dishes which really reflects the chef's attempt to push boundaries. Every thing was cooked very well and the flavors, though new, seemed to work. A foodie would definitely enjoy.

Vienna in NYC
What a delightful find. A quiet little romantic gem that brought us back
to Vienna without the long flight and jet lag.
The smoked Artic Char appetizer was amazing as was the lobster and
and poached egg. Wiener schnitzel the size of manhole covers but as
tender as butter. Kaiserschmarn!
This is going to be our MUST GO TO place whenever we are in NY.

Went for dinner before attending a concert at Carnegie Hall. Perfect location and wonderful food! The dinner was for my husband's 30th Birthday and they even remembered to bring out a special birthday cake!

Great place for a delicious dinner
This is a small, very intimate space. The noise level is quite low, so you can have converstaion with your dining partner(s). The service is excellent, the wines are lovely and the food is very elegant. This is not your traditional german/austrian menu - this is very sophisticated food - the presentation is top notch and the unusual preparations are absolutely delicious. I can recommend without hesitation. They served a blueberry gaspacho as an amuse buche which was stunning - absolutely so different and so delicious and the rest of the meal was just as good. The mains were extremely well prepared. The sour cherry sorbet for desert was unbelieveable.
6/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
We did the Taste of Austria, which allowed the selection of an appetizer, entree, and dessert. All were outstanding!
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and service
We had the Austrian tasting menu which consisted of an appetizer, entree and dessert. All three were terrific. Will go back to on next trip to New York, and would highly recommend.

Good food well served
My wife and I ate at Seasonal based on various reviews, close proximity to our hotel in NYC, and an interest in trying Austrian food. The restaurant is small and intimate, with pleasant unobtrusive music in the background, and a low noise level. The menu focuses on just a small number of selections but the food was very flavorful and presented distinctively and attractively. The wait staff is a bit formal but not stuffy. We felt the service was entirely fine. The deonstructed gazpacho appetizer was especially good -- the tomato component being a sorbet was a treat.

Seasonal is becoming a restaurant
Seasonal is becoming a restaurant that I enjoy eating at every month. The food is fantastic. The beers are perfect in the summer months. I am a fan.
6/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Outstanding food and service. Haven't had such an inredible Schnitzel and potato salad in a long time. Really nice noise level and really nice background music.
6/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Perfect July weekend lunch.
Hot outside!!! Cool inside, with superb food, chilled wine, fine service, not too crowded and the music was soft and soothing. We are an older couple who have been looking for this restaurant for a long time. Portions are small, which is perfect for summer. But rich, so no complaints at any time.

One of My Favorite Spot
I first ate at Seasonal approximately three weeks after it opened. Since then, I have returned countless times with my wife, family, friends, and colleagues. The only change since it opened that I dislike is the replacement of its original staff -- who were mostly from Austria and genuinely interested in the customers -- with professional high end staff. But that is to be expected after receiving a Michelin star (much deserved!). Hopefully the renovations this summer don't change the intimate experience. The food is always amazing. It is better than Daniels, but at a lower price, and is therefore one of the best valued high end restaurants in the city.

Everything was great from the amuse to the desert. Tasty withour being heavy. Service was attentive and helpful.. Deltghtful evening. Will be back and have recommended it to friends

'Manhattan wald': an Austrian gem
We were tremendously pleasantly surprised by the creative and at times innovative presentation of iconic Austrian or German food. Delicious , filling but light! The staff was professional and friendly.the ambiance was comfortable if simple. We definitely felt that we got our money's worth and decided on the spot to visit Vienna someday soon.
7/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I discovered this restaurant through New York Magazine which reported that it had the best weinerschnitzel in New York. They were right. We first went in February of 2013. We loved everything about it..the food, the service, the decor, the wine. We went back again this weekend as we were in New York agiain and found it to be just as exceptional. We will make it a New York must every time we are there.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a great meal at Seasonal. We were there for dinner the first night they opened after remodeling, and they called to tell us that they still had some finishing to do. However, the food was terrific and the service excellent and friendly. We appreciated good music, not too loud, and the decor is simple and attractive. We highly recommend this restaurant.

First Night in NY
We chose Seasonal because it had good reviews and was right around the corner from our hotel.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and I started my vacation week with a great Old Fashion!
Would definitely revisit!!
9/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, why so early?
My group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our dinner.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good but not the wine
The service was attentive and efficient. The food was excellent. However the Austrian red wine that the sommelier recommended was very poor.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
It was nice to find Austrian food in New York. Had the goulash and the veal, the spatzel was to die for.
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We took my Austrian friend here for dinner and had a lovely meal. He compared it to the food he grew up with, but better because his mom didn't cook it ;) The spatzle is amazing and I really enjoyed the scallop and beet pasta dish.
10/8/2013 5:00:00 PM
Loved this meal! The three-course prix fix with the lobster poached egg, goulache, and deconstructed cherry chocolate cake. Each dish was beautiful, interesting and delicious. The food was both traditional and modern-- there was a lightness in many of the dishes that was not expected in Austrian food, and yet traditional flavors and textures were preserved at all the right times. The service was warm, friendly and informative-- interesting conversations with both the bar tender and the sommelier-- and yet they gave space. Great place to eat if you're in the area, but worth traveling out of the way for. They had good spaces for larger groups, but the tables for two were quite nice and could be romantic. Highly recommended.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
We come to NYC once a year and never miss eating at Seasonal. The food is wonderful. Portions are not large, but we like that. We never leave hungry. The wine list is different - geared to Austrian and German wines, but others are also available. Highly recommended.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had another great dinner there and plan to return next time we are in NYC
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, not just Austrian food
I lived in Germany near the border for three years and went to into Austria at least twice a month to eat. I was overwhelmed when I tasted my Wiener Schnitzel and found that not only was it the best Schnitzel I've ever eaten, but also one of the best meals I've ever had of any kind. My wife had the Kaisergulasch, another typical Austrian meal, and it too was equally as good.
I applaude Chef Wolfgang Ban, who came out to meet me, for making the usual, exceptional.
Unfortunately, we live on the West Coast and get to New York once a year. I would eat there more often if I could.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful dining experience!
Seasonal is a great restaurant. Our party ordered the five course tasting menu and we were all delighted. The dishes were beautifully prepared--all flavorful and subtly seasoned. We want to return soon. This is an excellent fine dining experience on a par with the best restaurants in the city. The wine list is exceptional as well.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
I could actually have a conversation with my guests! We were most impressed with the chef and owner, Mr. Ban, who took the time and trouble to visit out table and welcome us. The wine list was also carefully explained to us. Probably the best schnitzel I have ever had outside of Austria! We all vowed to return.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
standby good eats
Always have a good meal at this restaurant. The wine and beers are great. They give portions that are normal and tasty. This time my guest had the trout and said it was tasteless. That is very unusual for this spot. Will continue to go for lunch and dinner.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
superb as ever
Seasonal is our special restaurant in Manhattan -- we missed a couple of visits for their renovation... but back in after the re-opening and it's hard to detect the difference. Same charm, same ambiance, same excellent food & service. We hope it never goes away.
10/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Austrian food - sweet
Very interesting and delicious food two blocks from Carnegie Hall. Perfect for a great pre-concert meal.
10/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
We have been to Seasonal many times often with friends and visitors who appreciate exceptional food and are never disappointed.
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
This restaurant has fine,
This restaurant has fine, well-prepared Austrian food in modest surroundings. The lunch prix-fixe is a good deal although otherwise rather pricey though the quality is meritorious.
10/31/2013 5:00:00 PM
The food was exceptional and this is one of the few restaurants I have been to that I could truly call gemutlich.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food, wine and cocktails on offer here were fantastic, with friendly staff and an overall wonderful approach to giving diners an experience to enjoy.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Expensive, and worth it
Austrian food never had a better treatment, and few restaurants in New York can rival the service.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Viennese Virtuosity of the Palate
We expected good Austrian fare, but were amazed at the medleys of flavors, textures, and pairings. Every bite was exquisite and danced on our tongues. Truly memorable! And the price is right, as well.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
My partner and I just returned from our weekend trip to NYC and decided to dine at Seasonal Saturday night. What an experience. The food, service and ambience were perfect. Would gladly return for another culinary experience.

Still My Favorite Midtown Spot
In the past three or four years, I have probably been to Seasonal over 30 times. I had lunch at Seasonal again today, and as usual, it was fantastic! It was quiet, shockingly empty, but the food is still the best high quality food for its price range (if not simply the best, period!). I'm returning again on Monday because, yes, it is just that good. And fyi - to put this review in context, I am very particular and have tried nearly every high end restaurant in the city (most of which I give far less flatering reviews).
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
It is one of the best in NYC
If you like Austrian food and wine, this is the place. If you don't know if you like Austrian food, this is the place to find out.
11/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
Lived up to the recommendation
Just great, really enjoyed this experience. Highly recommend!
12/1/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is not our first time to Seasonal and every experience (be it lunch or dinner) has been perfection -- excellent. The food is of the finest quality and cooked to perfection. The wait staff is efficient and pleasant. Presentation is very nice. On occasion the chef/part owner will walk through the restaurant (which is not too large) looking at what is going on. It is reassuring to see the interest taken by management. On occasion we have had dinner at Seasonal before a concert or play. They have accommodated our time constraints easily. This is a Viennese restaurant of perfection (there goes that word again).
