The cocktails here are excellent: creative, strong and numerous. The food, I found, was hit or miss. The mars attacks was so, so good while the pork belly was the texture of chicken. Overall, though, a very cool place with cool people working there.

Long Varied Menu and All Hits.
Great variations on Japanese dishes, don't let the "Whiskey Bar" in title fool you, the real attraction here is the small plates food. It can add up, but worth the splurge on some items.

Don't let the exterior fool you!
Although I was unimpressed by it's outside appearance, inside is a cozy, energetic ambience. Downstairs is an energetic whiskey bar with more than 100 scotch and whiskeys. Upstairs along the balcony is a quieter setting for dining. most tables are for 2-4. Service was excellent. They serve somewhat pricey, but tasty, Japanese tapas. Mixed tuna and cucumber served in a cocktail glass was flavorful. The tempura shiitake mushrooms stuffed with chicken was simple, with nice texture. The delicious crab salad was a large portion. The grilled salmon belly was a light, small dish, but flavorful. I enjoyed the drier of their two unfiltered sakes, dry and sweet. I definitely will be returning!

I had a great time at Nihon this weekend. I went there for dinner to start out a friend's bachelor party. He loves whisky and the selection they have is unbeatable. The whisky cocktails were excellent, and the sushi was fantastic. Great ambience

The sushi is okay. I would have given it 3 stars, but the whiskey spread is 6 stars.. been here 2-3 times, and the waitress recalls me each time. That kind of memory is appreciated. She also knew her whiskey's and had some great reccomendations for each member of the party.

Great food, better single malt list
Not a combination I would have expected, but Nihon Whisky served up a tremendous list of single malts and some very tasty japanese tapas. Will recommend to friends for sure.

Whiskey a sushi
Didn't know what to expect, a whiskey bar that serves omakase. What a pleasant surprise. Great cocktails and food. The sliced octopus was amazing (dr. octopus). Very hot. The hamachi stuffed tempura shiitakes were delicious. Everything we tried was great. Small, upstairs dining room, bar downstairs. Nice ambience.

Food and drink were delicious!
Food and drink were delicious! Love the cocktail menu and variety of drinks available. Even love the water bottle (very classy to use an old whiskey bottle). The service was very friendly and our waitress gave us great suggestions and we enjoyed each dish except for one which was super spicy. But she did warn us. Prices are on the high side. Love the ambiance. Rolls were tasty, this is a good place to go with friends who enjoy interesting cocktails!

Great food and drink selection.
Great food and drink selection. Seating upstairs can get uncomfortably hot due to lack of air conditioning. Other than that this place is great.

Perfect venue in every way for a belated birthday celebration ,menu was very appetising, the crab salad and the miso pork were amazing as the rest of the food ,the subdued lighting ,cosy atmosphere were letting conversations flow easily ...perfect setting and ambiance for savouring my newly found favourite whisky ...you might have guessed already ....it was the scappa ,my husband was adventurous enough to choose it for me amongst hundreds, the most impressive list I have seen so far .a night and venue to remember

I went for the whiskey selection so my expectations ended there. I was not disappointed as they had premium whiskey from around the world. Service was friendly and mostly knowledgable. The sashimi was very good but I couldn't eat much else as I am allergic to gluten and they premaranade much of the rolls and batter them which not typical of a high end sushi bar. They weren't even sure if they had Tamari (GF soy sauce) The sausages were great as we're a few other items I could eat but for a sushi bar to not be able to accommodate for gluten allergies this day and age is out dated and odd. I will go back but for my sushi cravings stick with more accommodating choices.
