Very romantic setting for a delightful evening. Inventive cocktails.

we had a nice time here. the food was very good although fairly underseasoned. i had to add quite a bit of maldon salt to my soup. it was pretty bland. the steak should have just had a little olive oil on it or nothing at all. the barbecue sauce didnt fit the rest of the style of cooking. (which was excellent) but the service was very good, it was quiet and relaxing and a really nice evening. a really nice cabernet as well!

Our last night in the Adirondack's was our best meal at Artisans.
Although a high priced venue,it was well worth the cost relative to the overall excellent experience per all aspects of fine dining!

Came to Lake Placid for the horse show and wanted a nice dinner out. The Artisans was a great choice. The food, service, ambience and even the wine list was impeccable. Great setting. Nice experience. Highly recommend.

Fantastic food and ambiance
Fantastic food and ambiance and a friendly, polite staff. The only drawback is that the service is S L O W. The time between the clearing of the dinner plates, looking at a dessert menu and receipt of final bill was way too long.

The total package
Great food. Great. Service. The best scenic view in the area. You can not go wrong with this fabulous venue.

Best in the Adirondacks
Superb views of Lake Placid from the meandering porch and dining room. Staff is a little inexperienced but earnest and eager. Excellent wine list. A not overlong, well-designed menu with emphasis on game and wildfowl and local vegetables and other ingredients. Hallways and dining room and bar decorated with high quality 19th c. Adirondack scenic paintings.

Nothing better in Lake Placid
A unique dining experience in the Adirondacks... small but varied menu, well prepared, and the kitchen is happy to take special needs into account, unlike many high-end kitchens that have prima donna chefs who force their creations on their guests, in a take-it-or-leave-it manner.
The view in the evening of the lake and mountains is spectacular, the service was excellent. Figure on New York City prices if you are on any type of budget. No children allowed, nor would they probably enjoy the menu.

Make the Pilgrimage to Lake Placid
This restaurant is the real deal - a perfect evening from the best signature cocktails to the ambiance, views, soft blankets to keep you warm while dining at night on the veranda, friendly service, outstanding wine list, and oh, the best tasting menu since BlueHill. We wished for more of each course but were completely satisfied by dinner's end. The wine pairings were creative and delicious-a memorable NYS dry Reisling. Local artisan cheeses.

The restaurant was top-notch. I live in New York City and it was on a par with the best here. The service was excellent, the food absolutely delicious and the view was beautiful. Would go back there in a heartbeat. Highly recommend it.

Peerless service, ambience & view
We were staying at the Whitemountain Lodge (very nice), but were eager for a quieter, more scenic and romantic dinner venue. Artisans delivered. Gracious, friendly service. Unbelievably lovely and peaceful views from our table on the deck. Lovely presentation and very solid food all around.

Overall a very good experience and we will recommend it to others.

Dinner (and dessert) was wonderful, the service impeccable and even though it was raining, wonderful to be able to sit outside and overlook the lake. The only setback was the amuse-bouche - the chef sent around lamb's heart on a little spoon. This was a little gross and the chef should probably be a little more "safe" and not so creative and understand that patrons do not want to send back a complimentary offering. Still, a wonderful experience.

This was our first visit to
This was our first visit to Artisans and it won't be the last. The crab stuffed squash blossoms were the best we ever had. Its a shame we can't enjoy them all year. The foie gras was smooth and creamy and the scallops with lobster risotto was cooked to perfection. Our waiter, Ray, was very helpful with our many questions. This was truly a remarkable dining experience.

As was last year... A fantastic experience! The service at Artisan's is super - professional, knowledgeable, yet relaxed. Our server seemed to read every table and respond accordingly. Chef Nathan Rich creates delicious food, period. It is sophisticated but non- intimidating. He's brilliant to offer a wonderful menu that IS sophisticated and still represents the Adirondack life style. Our favorite Fall spot.(Ages 16 - 84) Do not miss it!

Elegant, casual, top notch
Great restaurant, great food, 1st class service, nice ambiance -- with prices to match. Outstanding location on the shores of Lake Placid, comfortable room, and doting (most of the time) attention. Classic building with authentic Adirondacks feel. While we had a wonderful meal and dining experience, we wish we had eaten in the adjoining, far more informal (and lively), pub. We would have eaten and imbibed more there, absent $18 appetizers.

The dinner I enjoyed at Artisan's was probably one of the best meals I've ever had. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner, the cuisine is over-the-top amazing, and the service friendly and non-intrusive. I would highly recommend Artisan's for a special occasion.
