The food was very well prepared
The food was very well prepared except for a salad dressing that was far too salty. The service was attentive and friendly. The decor was simple but tasteful. I will got back for future meals.

Rich Flavors, Diverse Foods
The food was fantastic. Flavors were rich and varied, from the creamed herring, to the beets and goat cheese, to the parsnip soup. The food was expertly prepared. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

even the pickled herring taste good
Scandinavian food is, I think fairly universally, not highly regarded and with its emphasis on pickled fishes it's not hard to see why. However, Smorgas Chef manages to actually make Scandinavian food really tasty, providing bold flavors in classic Scandinavian dishes. It's definitely worth a try. You may even learn to like it as much as I do!

Always a pleasant meal
A small unpretentious place, with wonderful Scandinavian food. Not huge portions, but what's wrong with that? Leaves room for delicious dessert!

If you long for a taste of
If you long for a taste of Sweden on your table, look no farther: this is as good as it gets this side of the Atlantic. The room is not elegant, but it is serviceable: and ones your plates arrive, you'll be back in Stockholm or whichever part of Sweden you have fancied.

Nice place to meet and talk
It is a pleasant place for lunch or to meet someone mid-afternoon. Scandinavian flavor gives it a distinctive feel.

There is no better treat in NYC than to combine a fantastic art exhibit (or other cultural events) at Scandinavia House and a meal at Smorgas Chef in the building's lobby. The service is warm and never rushed. The delicious Scandinavian food is prepared highlighting locally grown/raised ingredients from the restaurant's own farm. I even stepped outside of my usual beer preferences and tried a bitter Finnish beer that was the perfect compliment to my meal. Please leave room for dessert........

good lunch Park Ave at 38th
This restaurant has a unique Scandinavian twist for a light yet filling lunch. I met my college pals here for a late lunch and we shared dishes and were able to sit and chat over a bottle of wine far longer than most other places would allow. The menu is fun and different and I highly recommend it.

Fresh & Delish
I love eating at Smorgas Chef because I know I will have the most fresh, healthy ingredients prepared beautifully ... and always delicious. Prices are a bit on the high side, but so is the quality, and so I bring friends and family here on a regular basis.

Top lunch spot in Murray Hill
I really think that The Smorgas Cafe is the top lunch spot in Murray Hill. Terrific food choices - I had a delicious could cucumber soup followed by the Sewdish meatballs - served to us by a lovely, friendly waitress. I also urge diners to visit the gift shop and check out what's on in their gallery.
