The food was terrific. Interior
The food was terrific. Interior of dining rooms was a bit tired. Outdoor seating looked very inviting, but too cold on Sunday.

My daughter and I took my
My daughter and I took my wife there for a Mother's Day brunch. We have dined there before probably 4-5 times but not for a few years. It is a lovely restaurant and we always enjoy our dining experience. This was the first time I was not that happy with my meal. I had the NY strip and it was not a very good cut of meat. Somewhat fatty and also tough. My daughter had a different type of steak and my wife had the portobello mushroom and they both were very happy with their food. So I just chalk that up (my steak) to a one time thing. No big deal. We will certainly return.

We were here to celebrate Mothers Day. By the children's crying at another table, at least one other group was doing the same. Unfortunately, this child could not be silenced (not a reflection on the restaurant!). This is not a restaurant I would dud "kid friendly" so why bring young children!?! however, the food was wonderful. I had a spinach salad beautifully dressed. My husband had the strip steak while I had the hanger steak. Both were prepared to our liking and had excellent flavor. We split the raspberry cheesecake for dessert. Since this was not our first visit, the crying children was unexpected. It deterred from this visit, but the consistency of good food will bring us back.

Wonderful Mother's Day
We went for a lovely Mother's Day early dinner. We sat outside and enjoyed a peaceful meal. Our server was very knowledgable and friendly. It is a great tradition on Mother's Day that I look forward to continuing!!

Great new menu!
It seemed Monocacy Crossing had had the same menu forever. They have recently updated it with lots of new choices.
We had a great meal there. We shared a deep fried lobster tail with a spicy sauce for appetiser. I had a very nice hanger steak with arugula and tomato salad and the husband had the fish special, wahoo with an asian flavoured sauce. Dessert was a chocolate and toffee mousse like creation.
All in all great food and good sevice. We will certainly be back, but next time I'm having my own lobster tail!
I would definitely recommend Monocacy crossing to friends.

Had a dinner date there with my wife and have the say the food there was delicious. We had the hanger steak and the lamb shank. I think the hanger steak was like there signature dish. Highly recommended. The lamb shank was very tender but do t get it with potatoes, try to get it with something less filling because that lamb shank was huge. The waitress did forget to put in our order for our appetizer. In a way that was not a bad thing because then we had room for desert. But still she didn't bother to write it down. We had the coconut pound cake which they recommended and I know why now, my wife had the cream brûlée. Both very good. All in all it was a very good experience.

Great pork and filet mignonhe
The pork with sage and apples is one my favorites. It is still wonderful. My husband had the filet mignon and made happy noises. He said it was one of the best he had. The chocolate turtle for dessert is sweet, rich, and good for sharing. The coffee is good too. Always friendly, excellent service.
5/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Every time we go there, the food and service are excellent. The menu recently changed and some old standards were modified, but it was still wonderful as usual. The wait staff and kitchen always accommodates any needs. This restaurant wants the diner to have the best experience possible. PS- the coconut pound cake is a MUST.

Whiskey Duck Nachos=heaven on Earth
Come for the Whiskey Duck Nachos and stay for the delicious dinners and decadent desserts. I have never had anything less than an excellent meal here.

An exciting dinner
From the time you walk in, you know you're in for something different. The menu is exciting. The wait staff is incredibly helpful. The wine pairings are perfect.

Kudos to the chef!
I made our reservation through Open Table since I can add a comment for the restaurant ahead of time regarding my sensitivity to garlic and raw onions. When I looked at the menu the waitress was very willing to ask the chef which entrees he could modify for me. I think she went back 4 times to ask about a particular entrée. I finally settled on the gulf shrimp. It included rice and snow peas. I must admit that I was a bit worried that the rice would be plain and have no taste but I was very pleasantly surprised! The dish was wonderful! Everything was flavorful and delicious! My husband had the wild boar special and raved about it.

Monacacy Crossing is my wife's
Monacacy Crossing is my wife's and my new favorite restaurant, and we plan to turn friends on it too!
Excellent food and ambiance
6/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been here 4-5 times and its always excellent. Everything is delicious from salads to dessert. This visit, we shared both the roasted Caeser and the scallops appetizer. My entree was the filet with sweet potatoes and it was fabulous. We will be back!
6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Why hadn't I tried this earlier!!!
What an awesome experience. It is such a quaint little place on the outside, but a very nice place on the inside. Everything we had from the appetizers to the dessert was to die for. Especially the coconut pound cake! I think I shall go back just for that.
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our favorite restaurant
Once again, a wonderful dining experience. We ate inside as,on this beautiful summer evening, the patio was packed.
The service was wonderful. The specials were well described and delicious.
Don't judge Monacacy Crossing by its road front. It's one of Frederick's best.
We will be back again and again.
6/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
food was very good, large
food was very good, large portions. drinks were strong so my husband was happy! service was good. We will go back.

Wonderful Date Night
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Monocacy Crossing to relax after a long work week. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation on a Friday night, and though they offered to seat us immediately, we chose to enjoy a cocktail at the bar and each sampled a delicious specialty martini from the menu. We had a nice, quiet dinner with excellent food and service. My wife had a lobster tail appetizer that she loved. We both got steaks that were cooked as we requested and were excellent. Highly recommended for a romantic or special dinner.
6/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was the second time I made reservations for my wife's birthday. She enjoyed both times beyond description. The flowers I ordered were on the table when we arrived. She was surprised and got teary-eyed. We shall be back, perhaps not a special date, but always a special occasion.

Long-time Passerby, First Visit
After 13 years of passing this restaurant and seeing all the cars in the parking lot, we finally stop in for dinner. Now I know why they're usually busy. Excellent food, even better service, all in an understated farmhouse outside of town. We split a dinner salad, excellent blue cheese over chopped romaine. Seafood Jambalaya and Wreckfish were excellent. No room for dessert. We'll definitely be back.

Fine dining off the beaten track
Monacacy Crossing continues to maintain very high standards out in the boonies. Innovative menu, excellent preparation and very friendly service at reasonable prices. They know how to cook fish which is a lost art in many places. Meals seem to be delivered hot by whomever, when they are prepared with no wait for "your server". Wine list is limited but has fine selections for any taste. The "pour" on drinks is "country lite"; you aren't going to get a city drink in a bowl.
7/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Really enjoyed the newer menu.
Really enjoyed the newer menu. Our server was attentive and friendly. We had a person that needed gluten free food. the server worked with the chef to make sure the food was made correctly . Offered up great drink and food specials. We keep coming back because of the great service and food. Only negative was the tuna was $28. The size was extremely small (but delicious).

Great Birthday Celebration
Have visited multiple times with 2-8 people in parties. Food and service is always great.

Outdoor Lunch on a Summer Day
We made plans to meet up with friends on a nice day this week. We picked Monocacy Crossing because of their lovely outdoor seating area, casual feel, and reliably good food and service. We were not disappointed. The lunch menu includes many interesting items and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. Excellent fish and chips and the seared tuna special was also very good. The service here is always excellent.

A Little Bit of Heaven
Had a wonderful time. Food was good, the back garden is magical after dark. Will definitely return.
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The had a change in the menu.
The had a change in the menu. Our favorites were still there (whiskey duck nachos). The gnocchi sauce was too salty however, the gnocchi made up for that (pushed the sauce to the side) Coconut cake was the bomb. Will continue to come back.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Awesome time, and will be returning
The staff was very welcoming from the first moment we walked in. They had the flowers I ordered waiting on the table, and the server was very nice throughout the whole dinner. Food was very good and they were accomedating to the food allergies my girlfriend had. The Whiskey Duck Nachos were great, duck meat was cook perfect. I had the Filet which was cooked the way I asked, and my girlfriend had the Crab Cakes which had actual crab and no filler in it. Becuase it was our anniversary, we got a free desert at the end of the meal which was good. Overall the experience was great, I would recommend this place to anyone and will return again 100%. Don't let the outside fool you either, very nice inside.

We can always count on Monocacy
We can always count on Monocacy Crossing for great food with a creative menu and impeccable service for our special celebrations.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had five women at lunch, eager to spend some time catching up with each other. the food was delicious, and we sat at the table chatting for almost 3 hours with no sense of being hurried. Very much appreciated. This is always a very enjoyable restaurant.
8/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of the best in the area
Very understated location, but food, service, and ambience rank with the best restaurants visited since arriving in DC 2 years ago.
Down to earth atmosphere, not pretentious, but the food rivals some of the most high end restaurants that require more formal attire.
This will become a frequent visit for our family and visitors

Who would have "thunk?"
Monocacy Crossing is in the middle of nowhere (for those of us who don't live right near there) and the menu is not what you would expect when you get there (no disrespect). I had two appetizers instead of an entree. The tempura lobster tail with a Thai chili sauce on an asparagus salad....yum! Also the mussels....double yum. I also loved my husband's steak and mashed potatoes.... I would say their weakest part was the desserts.i was looking forward to the brownie coconut macaroon cake (something like that) I was very disappointed. The cake wasn't chocolatey, and there was nothing reminiscent of a macaroon. The service, ambiance, friendliness was outstanding We will definitely be back. Not for those who don't eat pork or shellfish.

Best cuisine in Maryland
My wife and I dined at Monacacy Crossing recently and firmly believe that we have found the finest restaurant in Maryland. The menu was broad in scope and fantastic in taste. We will definitely return many more times. Thank you.

Great Food & Service
Excellent service & food once again. It is truly apparent that Monocacy Crossing takes pride in cooking, presentation, taste & freshness. Excellent dining experience each and every time :)

Monocacy Crossing continues
Monocacy Crossing continues to provide great food and service at reasonable prices. I have been there several times and I am never disappointed with the food.

Outside the Box
Wife and I find Monocacy Crossing best restaurant outside of d-town Frederick. Its the only restaurant we're willing to drive to for their outside dining, consistency of quality grub and wine list w/ attentive and cordial service.
9/18/2013 5:00:00 PM
MY MEAL WAS ALL APPETIZERS!. I had the Tomato Basil app; the mussels in wine; and the Lobster tempura in sweet chili sauce. Maybe the most delicious thing I've ever had. Really. All were fresh, perfectly prepared and cook. Mussels were cook to perfect texture and not over seasoned,
My wife had the chicken and gravy for the third time in row. Extraordinary good comfort food.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Why only on special occasions?
We discovered Monocacy Crossing a few years ago and usually come here for special occasions: this time it was for our 10-year wedding anniversary. The quality, variety and wine list satisfies my wife while the value, portion size and variety satisfies me, which made us ask ourselves "why only on special occasions?" Oh, and the service staff is quite attentive and helpful, too!

Favorite in greater Frederick.
Have been to Monocacy Crossing several times. Never disappoints. Comfortable and unpretentious atmosphere. Scallops in bacon vinaigrette appetizer is a great start. The 3 entrees at our table were filet medallions wrapped in bacon (special), sautéed tautog (special) and roast pork (regular menu). All were cooked perfectly and nicely flavored. Will not regret trying this restaurant.

Hudson Valley in Frederick
This restaurant is straight out of New York's Hudson Valley. That area is populated by high quality restaurants situated in old houses and run by graduates of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), which is in nearby Hyde Park. That whole formula has been transferred to south Frederick in the form of Monocacy Crossing. The building is one of the least appealing you'll ever see, and you'll be tempted to drive right past. But inside is one of the finest restaurants in the area. Chef Rich Regan is a CIA graduate, one of the few in the area, and it shows. Monocacy Crossing is the best combination of high quality food and relaxed dining atmosphere in Frederick. It's our go-to restaurant for special occasions.

Good food and service but...
We enjoyed our birthday lunch celebration at Monocacy Crossing, but found it odd that there were no other customers in the large dining room. We were completely alone! This being said, the service was great and the food very good indeed. The restaurant obviously needs a face-lift - and perhaps that would encourage more people to go -- but all in all, it was a nice event and we enjoyed ourselves.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
We entertained guests at Monocacy Crossing Saturday evening. Although we have dined at Monocacy Crossing a number of times and love the restaurant, this was our guests first time in the Frederick area. They were very impressed with the ambience of the restaurant as well as the fantastic food. Our wait staff was very welcoming, informed about the menu and was more than happy to make suggestions and assist with selections. Thank you for a fabulous evening.

My wife and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary at Monocacy Crossing and had a great time. I would highly recommend dinning there. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Monocacy Crossing has a great atmosphere, the waitresses are extremely knowledgeable, and the food was fantastic. We will for sure go there again. Note: the portions are huge so be prepared to come home with left overs.
10/31/2013 5:00:00 PM
We ordered three different entrees, all very distinct and delicious. The crabcakes were loaded with chunks of meat, the red fish was cooked perfectly, and the pork tenderloin was juicy and tender. The dishes were as lovely to look at as they were enjoyable to eat, and no one was left hungry. After we finished the meal, while no one was hungry, we still went for dessert because all of the options were so appealing and creative. The desserts we chose were a chocolate and peanut butter mousse, butter cake with homemade pecan ice cream, and an apple-cranberry tart; they were all fantastic!!! The only negative thing is that it's a bit crowded, but the food, atmosphere, and service are well-worth giving up a little elbow room!

My husband & I chose to celebrate our 20th Anniversary with a Fantastic dinner at Monocacy Crossing, and we were not disappointed! The food is always Excellent! And, I always make it a point to get the Key Lime Martini!

Our party of four truly enjoyed
Our party of four truly enjoyed the evening. The appetizers were large and plentiful -- more than enough mussels to share with everyone. The smoked soy with the tartare was a great combination. The wait staff is willing to please and the bartender was not only helpful, but willing to make the drinks to our exact preferences. The main courses were quite good as well, but we recommend having something other than the pasta -- those with other dishes enjoyed their meals more, particularly the Jambalaya and the Chicken. Dessert was great, it was a chocolate/salted caramel concoction.
11/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
My wife have lived in the area for the last 12 years and regularly frequent the various restaurants in the Frederick area. While there are other establishments that we enjoy, there are none that we have found that meet our expectations like Monocacy Crossing. We can always rely on quality food, a great selection of wine, an outstanding staff and an inviting atmosphere.
