I went to joy for a birthday
I went to joy for a birthday dinner with 20 people. It is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely 2nd floor great for large groups. However the service was a slow (waitress was really nice but was her first dinner service). Food was ok. Nothing special but not terrible. They also ran out of dessert which was unfortunate given that it was a birthday dinner!

Everything about Joy is great
Everything about Joy is great except their service. The staff is friendly and lovely, but they are super slow!!! They have tons of staff, but it takes forever for everything.. drinks, taking orders, picking up the cheque... everything! Please make sure your staff is more attentive.

Definitely a go for LARGE groups
I definitely got lucky coming across Joy Bistro. After contacting more then a handful of popular brunch spots in Toronto, only to hear that none of them would take reservations and if I wanted to be guaranteed a spot they could get in me for 10am.
I was looking to host a surprise bday brunch that would include about 12 people. Joy Bistro definitely stepped up to the plate and did oh so well! The service was delightful, they did not rush our group nor were they peeved by the fact that we ran a bit behind in arriving due to traffic.
Food arrived at the same time, and HOT! Coffee, tea was refilled and they even topped it all off by doing separate checks!

Girls night out
Wonderful ambience - quiet so you could chat comfortably - service restrained, not rushed - overall just lovely - and the food was delicious!

Great neighbourhood restaurant.
Great neighbourhood restaurant. Food tasted very good, waitress was attentive but not intrusive and the surroundings were fine.
I will most certainly return.

Excellent all around
Easily the best brunch in town. Their homemade ketchup should win a food academy award. Kids brunch is abt 5$ and spectacular value for money. We go often and with great anticipation each time.

Had a great Mother's Day brunch
Had a great Mother's Day brunch at Joy Bistro. Big, comfortable table. Love being able to make a reservation. Excellent kid's breakfast menu. Delicious food. Five dollar Caesars. Highly recommended.

Mother's Day Extraordinaire
The staff and service at Joy was exceptional.
I made reservations with Open Table and everything went flawless.
I ordered flowers to be delivered to Joy as a surprise for my Wife.
The staff at Joy arranged the flowers in a vase and placed it as a centerpiece on our table fur our arrival.
The service was impeccable and the table was perfect.
Good service was quick and they accommoded special requests.
Overall - very great experience.

Good food, good value
I've been there several times and again was a reliable choice. Not incredible food, but very good and good value.
Sat on one of the patios, which is very casual. Most of my group were first-timers; all would return. Veggie burger was very good

Enjoyed our brunch
We all enjoyed our brunch. The menu has a great selection of interesting food.
The kids menu is nice but it would be great to have a few options as not all kids eat eggs. Perhaps the option to pick any 3 items so that it can be geared towards what the child will eat.
My daughter loved the waffle but it was very small. I had to pay $4.50 for a 2nd waffle (almost the price of the kids meal).
We would come back. I love the room upstairs, lovely ambiance.

cute little place
I've been to Joy 3 times now and I will return! The food is tasty, service is great (especially with a messy toddler) and you can get a reservation for brunch with only a couple days notice.
Definitely check this place out. I want to try to come for brunch and sit on the patio on a nice day next time!

Making it right
The Panko calimari was deliciously delicate, the warm goat cheese with blood orange salad was really hearty with salmon. The goat cheese is a nice complement. I didn't bother with the blood orange pieces because they weren't very fresh. Poutine with pulled pork was okay (fries were great, pork a little dry). The 12 hour leg of lamb felt like it took 12 hours since it didn't come out for a very long time. When it did, it was well done (not what we wanted) and had very little flavour. Our waitress didn't bat an eye and immediately got us a different main. She handled the situation very well and the replacement she recommended, Thai Green Curry Mussels, turned out fantastic! Overall it was a pleasant and delicious dinner with great service.

If you're looking for weekend brunch, look no further.
Amazing patio, and twice as good food await.
Ricotta lemon curd pancakes are to die for (greyhound vodka/grapefruit is a perfect match)... Their take on the typical Benny is also awesome.

Great brunch on Sundays
Since the new owners took over last year, the food, menus and service have improved significantly.
Great place for brunch. The west patio overlooks a nice park where you can watch people doing tai chi, yoga or just resting by the two lovely flower gardens.
Service is always good and friendly.

Enjoyed our 1st visit and will return based on our Summerlicious experience...pulled pork tacos appetizer delicious & enjoyed perch fillet entree.

The appetizers (salad and
The appetizers (salad and tacos) and entrees (perch and lamb) we tried on the Summerlicious menu were great, but the desserts (torte and crumble) were disappointing. Or rather, the desserts were tasty but mislabelled - the torte was a simple cake and the crumble was a bowl of fruit with custard.

Service and food is good but slow. Patio is nice spot to chill.

My very picky eating wife
My very picky eating wife thought that she would not be able to find anything on the Summerlicious menu that would make her happy. She loved it all.

I really enjoyed our visit to Joy Bistro, and I would definitely recommend and go back to this restaurant. We sat on the back patio, which was lovely but would probably be even more special later when it got dark. The wait staff were relaxed but attentive. The food was a nice size and very delicious! I had the pork tacos to start w(hich were a great choice) and the lamb as a main course. The berry crumble dessert was spot on.

The were booked upstairs which was lovely and it also had a small patio. The waitress was superb. Felt sorry for her having to go up and down the stairs for drinks, apps and dinner.

This neighbourgood gem was a "Joy"
Joy Bistro in the heart of Leslieville was a real find and we will definitley be going back for more. The Quebec Eggs Benedict complete with poutine was amazing. Talk about comfort food - so tastey. Others in our group had the Leslieville Eggs Benedict, Warm Goat Cheese Salad and the Beef Burger - all were delicious. Everything appears to be made on premises including the ice cream and the ingredients are fresh and organic. Portions are a good size but not over the top - leaving room for dessert. The carrot cake was everyone in our group's favorite. We had our 3 year old grandson with us an we were pleased to see a number of children around the second floor dining room - definitely a kid friendly restaurant. Very good service too.
