My wife and I had to wait
My wife and I had to wait 15 minutes after the time of our reservation, due to the small size of the resturant it can become very crowded. The staff was very apolegetic and offered us both a free cocktail. The staff here is extremely professional and welcoming. The food is always excellent. One of our favorite places.

A piece of Italy in New York.
My favorite restaurant in New York. I love the sprig of rosemary in each napkin, I love the menu, I love the way the food is served, I love the size of the portions. I wish it wasn't so hard to get a reservation, but I guess other people feel the same way that I do!

The menu was a bit overwhelming
The menu was a bit overwhelming since it was our first time dining. Our server asked if we would like her to order for us. She asked what foods we didn't like and she went from there. It was wonderful! The plates are small and they recommend sharing. Between three of us we had the chef's plate (a selection of meats) and four other plates. We will be returning. This might be our new "go to" place in the Upper West Side.

Small portions but tremendous
Small portions but tremendous flavor. Attention is paid to every detail. Tables are a bit close together and small but overall a wonderful experience.

Small plates, great atmosphere"
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Really nice small touches such as a sprig of rosemary in your napkin, a small container of really good bread, and small plates which are the perfect size. It's a small restaurant with big tastes and I eat there whenever I can.

The best Salumeria on the West Side
These people are professionals and the wait staff knows their business. I
A delightful place for lunch and not too noisy.

Great lunch spot
Like being in Italy. Great Italian mat selection. Fun small plates. Not inexpensive.

an Italian gem
I am of Italian heritage and always long for authentic dishes...a rare find where I live.
My recent trip to New York City brought us to Salumeria Rosi and it did not disappoint.
The entire meal was delicious and the tapas style allowed us to have numerous tastes, all of
which were pure joy.

Has it all and is unique
The flavors are unique. The small plates make tasting many dishes possible. The wine list is good and extremely affordable. It is a great place to go as a wine bar or for a meal. Would definitely go back.

Too expensive for Italian "tapas"
Not a very good value, but very good food and service.
5/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
A bit pricey for Italian "tapas"
A small salad, and I mean small, with escarole, a couple anchovies and a few croutons is a bit pricey at $12. The same for a small plate of gnocchi for $14. You get double or three times as much at many of the Italian trattorias in the neighborhood for the same price. The food is very good though and the service too.

I have walked by many times always making note to try this place but it is usually full as it is tiny.
I made a lunch date and it was a great treat. The portions are very small but I actually enjoyed everything and walked away quite satisfied. I had the Cher's special salad with the scrambled eggs and it was quite yummy. My friend had the skirt steak which was also delicious. I will defiantly go back and splurge on more dishes as every description was enticing.

Great Spot for Authentic Italian
My girlfriend grew up on the Upper Westside and this is easily my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Beyond the food being amazing, the service is really incredible: all of the servers are friendly and welcoming. Unless you're a vegetarian, you NEED to try this place.

tiny and delicious
We loved everything at Salumeria Rosi. It was all delicious and fun and the service was friendly and professional.

The menu is limited but very well implemented. The "prosciutto" is perfect, but as expensive as gold.

Tappas Style Dining
Small plates, sharing or can have Brunch. Everything is made to order and is outstanding.

Excellent small plate dining
I'll happily give it 4 stars for price/value. Had lunch there on a Saturday afternoon, food was excellent, small plate style dining, e.g. cheese plates, charcuterie, and the like. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, the wine list was perfect for the food style. Very casual and chill, the place is small - maybe 35 seats inside, and a small patio outside - but comfortable. It's a real salumeria, with lots of meats and other fine foods available for purchase. Very similar to what you'd find with a higher-end salumeria in Italy with in-store seating.

Excellent Food & Wine
Went here for lunch, got a meat platter to start. For mains we had a selection of small plates all were delicious. Really lovely food and a good selection on the wine list, the Super Tuscan we chose was exceptional. Real authentic feel to the food. We liked the meat platter so much we got some to takeaway for a picnic the next day. Great location and service was very good. Get in there.

the best salumeria in Manhattan!
Chef Cesare is inspired. This in now our Stammtisch, as they say in German, Many friends agree.

Love, love, love it.
The food was so good my wife and I found ourselves giggling because we were getting to eat it.

Something a little different!
Very "energetic" crowd the night I was there -- packed solid, every table seemed to be celebrating! It's a quaint establishment (deli) with a very limited tapas menu but I enjoyed the dishes that I tried. Bring a friend -- tables for 2 seem best ... not for large parties. Certainly a unique and fun food experience!

Delicious but overpriced
As a group of 5 meeting for brunch, 3 chose their own egg dishes. The majority of the remaining menu was for sharing. Two types of bread in the basket. Plates were small, but so expensive. I left there enjoying my meal, but still feeling hungry. The chef's Pontormo Salad was spectacular, the tripe delicious although a little overdone. Drinks were inventive and the wine menu was considerable, especially for the size restaurant. I would definitely go back there, but bring a bigger wallet.
7/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Probably the best dining experience we've had on the Upper West Side.
7/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is our favorite neighborhood place and they have catered one party and will do another one this fall.
This is our favorite neighborhood place and their catering is great! We go back again and again.

Westside Neighborhood Gem
This small Italian restaurant has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. You are encouraged to order small plates to share. We started
with a bean bruschetta and a delicious escarole salad with a caesar-like dressing. We also enjoyed several pastas, including a risotta- like farro with vegetables and a homemade ricotta gnocchi. Although we don't eat meat, our dining neighbors loved their sampling of specialty salamis, prosciuttos and cheeses.

Really good food
The staff was down to earth and welcoming, the wine was fresh and perfect temperature. The foods small bites of everything, it was fun to order different types off the menu and try as much as possible. It might seem a lot but when you split it and try all the tasties you won't be disappointed. The food was so well done, seasoned, the combination of ingredients were really good. I have to go back for deserts, didn't get to try them, had to run for movie. Will definetly come back. Really the chef is awesome.

Almost like being in Italy
The restaurants approach to small plates and wonderful salumni was a wonderful reminder of my experiences in Italy
The freshness of the ingredients and the straightforward presentation coupled with an honest wine list that allowed you to enter at any price scale and still be very happy made the experience memorable
The variety and complexity of the salumni is spectacular for a reasonably small restaurant
The enthusiasm of the servers was also very pleasurable

Salumeria Rosi September Dinner
My girlfriend and i had dinner here on one of our first nights in New York and the food was pretty good.. The food portions were not massive, so you got to try a few different meals. In the end, we ended up getting a cold meat tasting plate to start, which was excellent. Then we had 3 mains, including the Italian sausage pasta dish. Would recommend this place for a special occasion, but book ahead as it is popular.

Great Saturday night supper
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Salumeria Rosi. Our waiter was informative and patient with us while we perused the quite extensive menu selection. Salami sampler, and pork belly/chick pea and risotto and vegetables entree were all wonderfully fresh and cooked to perfection. Our drinks were quickly refreshed. Service was attentive and not pushy. We will come again!

Outstanding cold cuts!
And complementary vegetables, salads, soups, etc. Pleasant service and decent wine list. Enjoy!

Service has definitely improved
We normally go here because the food is great and expect to put up with the sour faced hostess and spotty service. Maybe it was her day off but no mention of the I need your table back in an hour (despite the fact that we know that is not the case and always stay beyond our so called allotted time). Service was great and very attentive and everyone seemed oin a good mood.
Will not be so apprensive on our next visit. Had been building muyself up to a fight all the way down Amsterdam!

Good Food, fun ambience..but
Good Food, fun ambience..but beware of "out by" policy. Server handed us the check after 90 minutes and told my dining partner and I that we had to leave even though we were still finishing our wine, and were planning on ordering dessert. Very disrespectful.

Had a very nice lunch.
Great service, nice ambience, excellent food. Wines are very good but very marked up. Our reserved table was readily available. Luv this place.

Tuscan Italian Salami, Tappas-like
Very much enjoyed this eating adventure.
We had the Selezione del Sulmiere, a chef's choice platter with 3 slices of I think it was 7 or so salamis and prosciutto. I believe we had IL PARMACOTTO, PROSCIUTTO SAN DANIELE, MORTADELLA DI BOLOGNA, and more, but was too busy enjoying to pay attention.
For brunch we all ordered UOVO AFFOGGATO and a single plate of gluten-free pasta AMATRICIANA to share. We had Bellinis to drink which were heavenly.
We finished off with coffees and a Caffe Shakerato (sp?) with Amaretto disaronno flavoring it. We weren't going to have desert but then stopped in for a cup of Jacques Torres hot chocolate (his shop is next door) -- which is like drinking from Willy Wonka's river. Delicious!

Fine food, casual atmosphere
If you're frustrated trying to get into Salumeria Rosi at night, try lunch. Much quieter during the day and not as packed. Food's every bit as delicious.
