The fly in the ointment
As usual, the experience was superb. The food was terrific ( despite it being Mother's Day) and the room was not totally booked so noise was minimal
However when we had finished our meal, we waited more than thirty minutes for the check ( despite three requests ) to arrive.
Nevertheless, we will be returning to La Cremaillere.

Ooo la la!
We absolutely loved this charming restaurant for its top class food, good portions, fair prices and outstanding service. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with a very "Frenchy" warm feeling. The staff made you feel extremely comfortable and welcomed. Tables were spaced well so that the noise level was at a respectable level. We enjoyed several wonderful gourmet "gifts" offered from the chef during the course of our meal, as well as the freshly baked round bread loaf and homemade butter from the onset. Enough cannot be said abut this place. We will without a doubt return for another elegant excellent dining experience.
La Cremaillere is a very special restaurant!!

Excellent -- but EXPENSIVE!
I was looking for a special occasion resto for the husband's birthday. We were visiting from out of town and I decided on this after looking at food reviews and seeing that it had an OpenTable $$$ designation in term of pricing. While it was outstanding in terms of food, it was much more expensive than I thought it would be because many of the courses were priced at what would be considered entree pricing in most better-than-average restaurants.
Food, however, was excellent -- duck and roasted filet of beef were perfect. Mushroom soup appetizer was memorable. Sommelier was right on with guiding me to an entree wine choice suitable for both beef and duck. Beyond his service, the service was less than would be expected. But, DH loved it!

nice to have such an excellent French restaurant in the area, without having to go to NYC.! this was exactly the experience you'd expect from a fine French restaurant. Zim

Quite simply, the best
La Cremaillere is the place to dine when nothing less than the best will do. Host/owner Robert Meyzen comes from a distinguished restaurant family and it shows. An impeccable experience. We dine here as often as we can and this time we put ourselves in Robert's hands--we didn't even look at a menu. Every course was a revelation and, as always, served with a combination of classic professionalism and good cheer that is the hallmark of the La Cremaillere team. Just go. You'll thank us.

Excellent food - not so romantic
Went for a 25-yr anniversary dinner - 1st time at La Cremaillere. The food was amazingly good...Typically French small portions, but rich food without being heavy...subtly delicious. The service was typically high-key. The wine list was complete and seemed to have something for everyone. The only problem was that the room was too loud to be romantic. In spite of sitting side-by-side, we found ourselves listening to other table's conversations - even people on the entire other side of the room. We were sitting under an air conditioner that started and stopped throughout dinner...it was surprisingly loud.
All told, it was a nice evening of great food...Could it have been better? Yes...Would I choose it again? Maybe not. But others might.

What a nice experience!
My husband and I tried this restaurant because of a discount deal, but can't wait to go back. It was quaint and reminded us of a small restaurant we dined at while in the countryside in France. The food was delicious and the service was great.
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was as always, great. Service impeccable. Prices a bit on the steep side. All in all, nice romantic, quiet dinner.

Night to remember
From the minute we walked into the restaurant until the last footstep out of the restaurant the evening was amazing. From the service to the food was just memorable.

We dined at La Cremaillere this week! We were a party of 6 and became a party of 8, last minute. It was a bi-summer get-together with friends. We had a wonderful time!!! Stephane the manager (maitre d') was so gracious and accommodating. His recommendation of a beautiful bottle of rose wine from Burgundy (!) was perfect for the occasion and very nicely priced. The food, as always, was delicious! Can't wait to go back in August!

From beginning to the end, it was fantastic!!!
Definitely One of the best restaurant in westchester county, I will recommend la cremaillere to anybody and can't wait to return.

A classic French country restaurant
A classic French country restaurant, a place where patrons take the dress level a notch higher, appropriately. Excellent service and food. The crab cake and crab salad appetizer special was nearly a meal in itself, and portions overall were generous. Delicious rack of lamb and duck preparations. The host provided unassuming and very helpful advice about the wine selections. We had not been to the restaurant in many years, but will return soon.

Absolutely love it!
My favorite restaurant! My favorite dish is their beet salad. I have been there enough times that they know me and have my drink ready for me...fabulous!

Simply the best restaurant
Simply the best restaurant we have ever been to! Having just moved to the area, we had heard a lot about La Cremaillere and were anxious to go for dinner...What a wonderful time we had! Very charming restaurant, the staff is knowledgeable and personable. A very country french feel to the dining room. My wife ordered the halibut which was the special of the evening and I ordered the veal from the menu, both dishes were presented and tasted with what I would described as simple elegance! We topped it off with two raspberry souffles! Heaven! Thank you! We will return soon!

Shoots High and Hits the Target
Great reputation matched by great food and service. Hard to beat!
8/12/2013 5:00:00 PM
Our two favorite restaurants are La Cremaillere in Bedford and Le Bernardin in NYC, and although they are very different in style and feel, there is no question that they are at the top of their game when it comes to quality, service, and consistency. Even though Le Bernardin is primarily known for their fish selections, I can not think of a better or more delicious dish than the salmon with the mustard crust that I had the other night at La Cremaillere. My husband ordered the veal roulade filled with foie gras, and he said he was "in Heaven" with his choice. Iced raspberries with a warm white chocolate sauce finished our evening. Thank you! See you soon!

Attentive service & classical Fr.
Service was attentive and personal...excellent! Food is classical French. Portions are good. Atmosphere is beautiful! Exquisite flower arrangements.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
La Cremaillere was a recommendation from a good friend and a very nice place to eat. The food was great and the service was also. Two issues (why they didn't get a 5 star) was we had a reservation for 8 pm and I wish we we would have been informed that our ordering would be rushed since the kitchen was closing? made me a little nervous-did that mean they were going to rush us out? We weren't rushed out so why the push for the order and mention of the kitchen closing?
Also most of the specials were gone-there were not many choices left to the menu-perhaps why it took us longer to order? Yes-we had planned on eating meals that were no longer available.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious food, great ambiance: everything you could ask for. Prices high. Go for a special occasion.

Simply The Best
The atmosphere, the service, the wine list-and most of all the fine cuisine. We are fortunate to have this great restaurant with us all these years. We should make every effort to show our appreciation for Robert and his wonderful staff by our continued and frequent attendance.
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was terrific, however our waiter was too familiar with us, tripped twice on chair legs, was careless when pouring wine, and asked us if we wanted another bottle of wine before our first was finished.
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
service with a smile
LA Cremaillere is an excellent restaurant with impeccable service and beautifully plated food. Decor needs to be updated but otherwise great
9/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
For a very special occasion this is a fine choice. The food was excellent and the service friendly and exemplary. The extensive wine list was very complete, and while the wines selected might be outstanding, most were beyond the budget of many.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
If you want a special DELICIOUS French meal that feels like a special occasion, this is it!
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Well, the service was very slow, but attentive. The staff is top notch, we are just not used to the 5 course meal thing. : )
Food is delicious, extremely well presented if only a bit stodgy. This is real old-fashioned french cuisine.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
We returned to La Crémaillère after a lapse of some 35 years. It is still the same, old-fashioned, but very refined. Our food (a tasting menu) was very good, impeccably served by a French waiter (we spoke French with him). The wine list is impressive, all rather glorious French wines, but quite expensive (nothing for less than $75). A nice place for special occasions.

Never a Bad Meal
We eat at La Cremaillere several times a year, usually for some sort of special occasion. It is a classic French restaurant, set in a country house. All aspects of dining are simply wonderful - great service, ambiance and food. Beautiful presentation. I highly recommend.

Perfect end to an evening
We capped off our day in NYC by driving up to Bedford for dinner on the way home. The entrance to the restaurant is lovely, with potted seasonal flowers running up the stone steps. Even though we were 40 minutes late for our reservation, due to traffic, we were greeted warmly and promptly seated.
We both opted for the specials of the evening: roasted chicken in a wild mushroom sauce, and burramundi with a crayfish risotto. They were both delicious; my only critique would be that the risotto was more like "rice" than traditional risotto. For dessert we had the traditional souffle, as well as the "cold" chocolate souffle, which was really more like a mousse. Both were excellent.
Felt like we were back in France!

Evening to Remember
This was an exceptional meal because the food was outstanding. However, the cost of a cocktail brought, what was a great price for dinner at this fine restaurant, the bill to an extraordinarily increased level. The Margaritta was good but very small and not worth $13.50 (the bar bill for a Rusty Nail and Margaritta came to $27 so I presume they were $13.50 each). People usually have wine with their dinner, hence the small cocktail, but I do not drink wine at night because it keeps me awake.

We visited here for lunch on my wife's birthday and enjoyed good food and service with homely warm ambience.
Maybe this is not a place for people who prefer modern stylish restaurant. But if you would like to have quiet leisurely hours, I do recommend it.

The Sunday brunch is one of the best values in the tri-state area.Refined, exquisite French food with wonderful selections at a reasonable price. We are fortunate to have La Cremaillere and everyone should take advantage of this fine restaurant.

I don't usually post reviews but I'm compelled to in this instance because of the wonderful dining experience we had. The food was outrageously delicious and the service was impeccable. It's a very quaint and charming setting. I would go there again.

We had the five course tasting menu and everything was exceptionally good, especially the souffles. A great romantic spot. Great service and great food. Cozy, small restaurant ambiance.

I first dined at La Cremaillaire almost 40 years ago, when a college friend's parents took us there. Not knowing much about haute cuisine then, I was simply amazed. I had the opportunity to return finally last Saturday. With a more refined palate and an appreciation for really good service, I was still amazed.
Impeccable but extremely friendly service; excellent food and a fabulous wine selection; the restaurant was as good, if not better than I had imagined it would be after all these years. The country French atmosphere is cozy and intimate yet elegant at the same time.
My only regret is that I do not live close enough to visit more often.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
We are frequent travelers and we love to try excellent restaurants wherever we go around the globe, in particular those restaurants well rated by Michellin. In our opinion La Cremailler is a hidden gem close to home that offers the best of the traditional French cuisine, a fantastic wine list, great ambience, warm friendly service.

Like being in France
Walking into Cremaillere is like being transported to France. It is such a charming setting with gracious service and delicious food. The three course luncheon is wonderful and very good value at $29.00.
I chose the butternut squash soup, a mustard crusted salmon, and sorbets which arrived in tiny meringue cups. Fantastic. My friend had the mussel soup, the roasted chicken and the creme brûlée. We were not rushed and it was just wonderful all around. There was also a loaf of freshly baked bread on the table with sweet butter, the bread still warm from the oven.
The best menu item, I thought, was the saffron mussel soup (billi bi)--I had order envy immediately and can't wait to return do I can have my own bowl.
11/21/2013 4:00:00 PM
It's one our favorites for a memorable night. We are welcomed always, and the food and setting are special for us, special for our friends, and each time we look forward to returning.
