Reston's hidden gem
Service is personal, food and wine are great. People watching is interesting. Reston movers and shakers, including RES himself can be spotted here.

Enjoyed Our First Time!
We were looking for something new to try and remembered this being mentioned by a friend that it was a great spot so we decided to check it out.We definitely were not disappointed! The service was great...the atmosphere was relaxed and the noise level was great. We had an appetizer of the manchego cheese (you can't really mess that up) and the shrimp in red sauce. LOVED IT!! I had the paella and my fiance had the petit chateau. Both dishes were full of flavor and definitely did not disappoint. We each enjoyed a glass of wine (mine was white, his was red). The waiter was very helpful in pairing the wine to our selections. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back with friends. Don't let the empty shopping plaza fool you!

Great food, service & a fair price!
A business associate from San Francisco and I went to El Manantial to catch-up over dinner. What a great find. The maitre d' was accommodating with our seating preferences, service started promptly and was well timed throughout our conversation and meal. My martini was perfectly made. The wine list was compact, but covered all of the major varietals, regions and price points. The escargot was a cross between the classic French preparation and the more savory Italian style. The duck was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and served in a generous portion. Next time, we will have to try desert. I'm already planning to take my local Reston friends there. Cheers!

We are fortunate to have this fine family-owned restaurant in our neighborhood.

Travel World, Come Home to Best
We have been through many choice locations, including Florence, Rome, Vancouver, San Diego, and have not had such good seafood. This is a local gem that is always consistent because the enterprise is one big family, and the food is the best to be had in the area. Mangia, mangia!
6/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
As usual, wonderful food!
As usual, wonderful food! I had the petit chateau (shrimp, scallops, and petite filet) and my husband had the sea bass. Both meals were delicious.

A great experience
Fine dinning in a local family owned restaurant we are proud to support. Don't miss the lobster ravioly and frog legs. Service is outstanding and they really know their stuff. Seat near the open kitchen and enjoy the smooth and flawless operation Humberto and his family have going there.

WOW What a great place to dine
El Manantial exceded our expectation. We dined with a party of 5 the service was wonderful, the food was wonderful, the chef came out to see us was wonderful. Can't say enough about the quality and value of this restaurant. We will go back many times especially with out of town guest.

A superb restaurant
This is one the finest restaurants in Northern Virginia. Superb professional service. Exquisite fusion cuisine coupled with an outstanding wine list make for a delightful experience. My wife and I always have our "special occasions" there.

It was our anniversary and
It was our anniversary and had just a wonderful evening. The food was spectacular, the service friendly, responsive and helpful (it was our first time at El Manantial). My wife ordered the Lobster fetticini special which was simply to die for! I ordered the Petit Chateau was was also exceptional. All in all, we had a great evening and it made our anniversary very special indeed. We look forward to visiting again (very) soon.

El Manantial is a Neighborhood Gem
I've been to El Manantial several times and found it excellent every visit. It is first rate in every way. A bonus is that parking is very easy close to the restaurant.

Mille grazie Humberto
El Manantial is always a favorite for business lunches. Humberto and his staff can be counted on to treat guests like family.

Great place for dinner in Reston -
There aren't too many really great places to eat in Reston where you can also have a good conversation - but this is it. My friend and I went to El Manantial and had wonderful food, great service and could also hear each other's conversation. We will definitely be back! We both ordered from the appetizer menu, and had plenty of food - mussels were great. She had them in red sauce, and I in wine/garlic. We both loved them. I also got the scallops and asparagus which was wonderful. The asparagus was tender and the scallops were just spicy enough. Then we also ordered a meal to go for her son.
Overall it was a wonderful experience!

A Hidden Gem
Nice surprise in an all but deserted strip mall. Service was impeccable. Attentive, but not at all "hovery". Our server recommended a white wine to go with our selections that was spot on.
We mostly tried small plates. The standout was the fried oysters! The coating is light and crisp, without being greasy. We also had escargot (good, but the flavor of the escargot was lost in the mushroom sauce), and a white pizza. Crust was thin and the toppings were in good proportion and delicious! We had dessert but didn't love that...not sure what we ordered as they came out on a platter for us to choose. They all looked very similar.
Overall, I would go back in a heartbeat. Good service and oysters and pizza that are now on my "crave" list!

El Manantial was GREAT!!
I was so thrilled to find El Manantial. The inside décor takes you to another place - which made for a very relaxing experience during lunch. The avocado stuffed with crabmeat was very, very good. I recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We celebrated our anniversary at El Manantial. It was a wonderful evening. The food was outstanding, the service was very attentive without being intrusive and the ambiance was perfect for a romantic evening. We have also dined there with a large group and received the same impeccable service and food quality. We would recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

No need to worry about how a meal will turn out. This restaurant is always consistently good! Everyone I take there loves it!

A luncheon to delight
A light menu; nice wine list, including by the glass; superb service; don't skip dessert, made on the premises by the pastry chef.
El Manatial never fails us, and we have taken many friends and business colleagues to dine there.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
In a city with a lot of restaurant choices, we continually find ourselves returning to the same restaurant - El Manantial. The food is always very good, the service is always outstanding, and the wine selection is amongst the best in the Washington D.C. area. My wife and I highly encourage all of you that have not been to this outstanding place to give it a try. You will not be disappointed
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
So nice to find something away from the Town Center hustle and bustle. Food and wine were wonderful. The decor is beautiful and relaxing. Service was great. We'll be back.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lots more on the inside
The outside, a strip mall with an empty anchor store, is nothing to look at. But once inside the place has a much nicer feel. The staff were extremely friendly. The food was delicious. Started off with a prosciutto plate and a manchego cheese plate. The prosciutto was thicker than I had seen before but paired very nicely with the creaminess of the cheese. I had Baramundi fish stuffed with crab. Wife had veal medallions. Both were prepared perfectly. The waiter suggested a superb white wine to go with the fish.
The menu had an excellent variety and should have something for everything.
For dessert, Tres Leches cake was very firm (not too mushy), but a little sweet. The wife had a banana and chocolate torte which was very good.

Great Dining Experience
A nice place to celebrate our anniversary. Delectable food and attentive service. Halibut was moist and flaky, and the shrimp/scallops/steak dish was perfect. We must have been there on an off night (Wed), as there were only several tables occupied, thereby resulting in a quiet environment. We'll definitely return to sample different menu selections.

Tucked away in a Reston shopping
Tucked away in a Reston shopping center, the outside gives no hint of the outstanding restaurant within. El Manantial (the Oasis) is an exceptional find. The food was an innovative mix of Italian, Latin and French influences superbly prepared. The staff made us feel appreciated on our anniversary. I will definitely be back. Even though it was a long drive, it was worth the trip.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Any seating location in this restaurant is tantamount to being in your own dining room at home providing pleasant ambiance with low noise levels for comfortable conversation, business discussion, and dining enjoyment. The wine list is affordable, and Humberto keeps it up to date by rotating the selections. The service is always warm, friendly, and well timed throughout our dining. Enrique creates wonderful dishes in the kitchen - we have never encountered an appetizer, entree, or dessert selection here that we didn't like. The Fuentes family operate a unique business offering European warmth and service to regular patrons and new diners alike.

El Manatial has always provided my adult family with exceptional food, outstanding service, and a great atmosphere at a fair price. It is one of our favorite restaurants and we shall return often.

Marvelous Personal Touch
We always receive a warm greeting when we arrive at El Manantial. We've been going here for several years and they're consistently very good. The chef's specials are always worth trying and the house-made desserts are scrumptious! The wine list represents varietals from around the world, with an especially strong feature of Spanish wines. We love exploring new wines they bring in to introduce to their guests.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent service. Meals (beef, seafood) above average. Nice light classical music (harp, guitar).
Had dining coupon effective the next day, but Mr. Fuentes (an owner) graciously accepted it.

Good food, good wine, great service. There is always somebody we know at another table.

Great place for company outings
Our company is growing. Great, except that many places cannot or will not allow reservations for groups of 10+. El Manantial is always at-the-ready with a table, menus & filled water glasses for our group of at least 10. The food is excellent, even for the picky eaters of our group and the waiter has a bottle of wine for our boss already picked out. The water glasses are filled constantly and the service is quite good. We will definitely be back for our next company outing.

Always very Good
I like El Manantial for its wonderful food and service. You can always find what you want in their very complete menu. The Tapas option is great when you just want a light meal with and abundant selection of great food.

Have enjoyed lunch and dinner many times -- always with excellent service and enjoyable food.

Excellent Birthday Dinner
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. We were both very impressed. It was a tough choice between the tapas and standard menu, but we went with standard. If you like seafood, get the paella. My girlfriend ordered this and I spent most of the meal stealing bites from her plate. That isn't to say the red snapper I got wasn't delicious, it was, the paella is just amazing.

Hidden Gem in Reston
This restaurant is a hidden gem in Reston! You can eat excellent food and still talk to your table mate. The tapas menu is great, smaller portions of excellent food. Mussels are my fav so far, but I have a lot of menu left to go through. Service is attentive, but not overly aggressive. Head here for a good meal with friends or co-workers that you want to talk to!
9/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Have been a few times and we have never had anything that was not fantastic. The wine list is very limited so I bring my own. Great family run restaurant.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nondescript outside but...
...outstanding inside. Located in a strip mall, unless you are looking for this place, you're not going to know it's there. Great food and the inside is really nicely done. Server was a bit rusty when my wife tried to order a drink, but the food recommendations were spot on. Will definitely be going back.
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
great location, great food, outstanding service, couldn't have asked for more. Not familiar with the area, but selected the place by reviews at open table. My friends birthday (her home in Chantilly) we wanted to try a new place and it was a great choice.

Another wonderful Meal
we enjoyed our 46 th anniversary dinner at a great local restaurant El Manantial at Tall oaks.

We have been coming here for years and enjoy the service and food a great deal.
10/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a wonderful dinner we had with friends. The salmon, mahi-mahi, rack of lamb and paella were all delicious. Nice touch having the owner make us feel so welcome and comfortable.

Great food and service
Every time a great experience,... Can't go wrong. Great service and food.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Off the beaten track
Hidden away in a strip mall, food and service at this restaurant are always excellent! Some new menu items have been added, such as mahi mahi with mini crab cake, that make it even better. One of the few places today where you don't have to talk in a raised voice to be heard.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Comfortable dining, outstanding service, excellent wine list and always good food. They make excellent recommendations on wine. Right now they have Lamb Shank on the menu - very good, as was the Venison. The desserts are made in house and the Raspberry Tart is great. If you remember when you order to ask them if they have the Apple Tartian on the menu, it comes out hot with vanilla ice cream. Yummy.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
The facade of the restaurant is not inviting but I knew better as I had known the restaurant for a few years when I used to live in Northern Virginia. I took a large out-of-town business group and enjoyed the atmosphere and food, which were excellent.
11/18/2013 4:00:00 PM
Delicious food, delightful
Delicious food, delightful ambience. A bit pricey. Portions could be somewhat larger, especially for the prices.
