We had a fantastic dining
We had a fantastic dining experience in a lovely location. The food was creatively prepared - a visual treat as well as a tasty one. The wine pairings were perfect. We really enjoyed the whole meal.

My wife and I loved this restaurant
My wife and I loved this restaurant. It was the perfect gift to her for mother's day. The staff was excellent and I would recommend anyone to give the McNinch House a chance.

The McNinch house was like no other dining experience I've ever had. The food was well prepared with the best of ingredients. The speed with which it was delivered was a bit slow but the place was very full that night. The decor was quite unique and the place settings were beautiful. We had Petite Tasting Dinner which had a couple of things we wouldn't rave about, but over all the dishes were intricately and well prepared. The wine list was great for anyone to choose from. The crab serving was my favorite. Overall I would recommend this dining experience to anyone looking to have a really unique and tasteful experience.

Wonderful, intimate birthday dinner
My husband & I had the entire restaurant to ourselves for his birthday dinner. What a treat! Food was delicious and service was impeccable. We will certainly be back to celebrate another special occasion!

Incredible Dining Experience
We had a wonderful experience at McNinch house. The food was delicious, the wine pairings superb, the service impeccable, and the setting / ambiance idyllic and romantic. We are so excited to have discovered such a fantastic gem in Charlotte, and look forward to returning on a frequent basis.

For Special Occasions Only
My partner and I went here to celebrate his birthday. We heard about this place a few years ago while living in Los Angeles and decided to check it out now that we're living here in Charlotte.
Our experience here was pleasant, but not extraordinary. We are no strangers to fine dining and don't mind paying higher prices for a unique dining experience; however, this place was a bit underwhelming. The atmosphere was charming, the food was good, the service was standard, and the overall experience was nothing to complain about, but it was also nothing to rave about either. I'd go back again, but only for special occasions as the price is not commensurate with the experience.

The historical home, the great
The historical home, the great food, the superb wines, and the excellent staff make this a wonderful experience every time we dine at the McNinch House. This past visit we were a party of five celebrating a family birthday. We ordered the 7-course Grand Menu and the associated wine pairings. Taking the time to leisurely enjoy the food, wine, historical stories, and family conversation was an experience to remember.

A Complete Winner
An absolutely wonderful experience. The chef, Chris Coleman, is excellent and the wine steward, Anthony Wesley, made outstanding selections for each course and was completely charming. This is a very special place! Thank you.

We ate at McNinch House for my birthday. The food and the service were both wonderful. It is expensive but definitely worth it.

Great spot for a special occasion.
Great spot for a special occasion. We were one of two couples, so it wasn't exactly a "lively" atmosphere, but the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. If you can splurge, do the wine pairing where they choose your wines for you! It was quite a learning experience.

Special Place for Special Occasions
While McNinch House is a great place for dinner at any time, it is especially good for special occasions like a birthday, anniversary or some other special event. The food is fabulous, the sommelier (Wesley) is superb and you are not overwhelmed with the volume of food. It is all very good but you leave comfortably full having enjoyed a marvelous 2 or 2 1/2 hour dining experience.
The menu gives the diner a variety of price plans to choose from to suit the pocketbook of any dining group.

Wonderful Anniversary Dinner
My wife and I came here for our Anniversary. The McNinch House is a beautifully restored Victorian style home serving up one of Charlotte's finest dining experiences. We chose the 7 course Grand Menu along with wine pairings chosen for us by Wes, our very knowledgeable Sommelier. The menu was carefully thought out to include choices for many different tastes with ALL of the vegetables and herbs FRESH from the owner's garden which is adjacent to the restaurant. Each course paired with it's own wine was spectacular and the service was impeccable. While PRICEY ($$$$), dining at the McNinch house is worth every penny and it is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. A 20% gratuity is automatically included.

Tops in CLT
Yes, it's a bit pricey, but on a weeknight when you have the place to yourself, Wesley the wine steward as your personal dinner companion, and the executive chef preparing astonishing creations just for your table, it's an experience unlike any other. Some dishes were not to my personal liking, but the care put into each dish was quite evident. The fried green tomatoes and crab cakes course was likely the best thing I've ever had, anywhere. Wesley will steer you down a path to please your individual taste as well as your desired level of alcohol consumption. Trust his judgement and you'll have a fine evening.

Lovely evening with great service
First of all, I found it refreshing to have dinner in this lovely old house when most Charlotte restaurants are in newer or more contrived spaces. The service was fantastic from start to finish. We enjoyed the chef's tasting but were surprised at the quantity. It was a lot so pace yourself if you order this. I did order the wine pairings and while they were not all wines I would normally order, I could appreciate why the wine steward paired them with each course. The wine steward was a lot of fun and very willing to talk to us about the wine and why he chose it. The food was good, some of it was great. The server was efficient and very pleasant also. It is a fairly quiet atmosphere which is nice considering the noise levels at most places.

We celebrated our 27 year
We celebrated our 27 year anniversary. I can't remember a better anniversary dinner - ever!

Go with the Tasting Menu
We had the paring menu, where they paired wines with each course. Outstanding!

Great place for occasions.
Great place for occasions. Would definitely go back.

Our return to McNinch
Our return to McNinch after nearly 10 years was most memorable. Restaurant has made some wonderful changes making it more accessible for fine dining. Atmosphere, service, food, and wine were extraordinary. Quite the magical evening. My husband and I throughly enjoyed our evening. I particularly liked and am still savoring the blueberry with ground pepper sorbet. Wow~

My husband's birthday
I surprised my husband with going to McNinch Restaurant and neither of us was disappointed. Ellen met us at the door and the wait staff was there to help immediately, but did not overwhelm us like so many restaurants. They never pushed one course to the next and we could relax in between courses. The food was outstanding. I had the New Zealand lamb and it was the best I had ever eaten. My husband had the ribeye and could not believe how delectable and tender the steak was. He even told the chef how wonderful the food and the presentation were. It is so nice to find a quiet, beautifully decorated table restaurant with wonderful food, great service and a very knowledgeable sommelier. Thank you, Ellen. We will be returning.

Restaurant is pricey but well
Restaurant is pricey but well worth it. Food is very well prepared and presented. Service is attentive and knowledgeable with a comfortably leisurely pace. The dining experience is most enjoyable and more importantly the diners can enjoy each other.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice atmosphere and service
The dinner was nice, but food wasn't as good as I expected. But I'm West Coast and North East to here. So for Charlotte is excellent! Lamb chops had no sauce ??? Tomatoes in salad were very salty.

Back in Time
I felt like I had walked into a time capsule and went back into time. A place where gentleman wore jackets to dinner, china was used, and romance was most important. The food was excellent. I have never had such great fried green tomato served with a delicious crab cake. The ribeye was good but not what I expected. Grilled peach dessert was incredible. The rose brought by our server at the end of dinner also was a special touch. When we told our server it was our anniversary,we were brought glasses of champagne. The peaches were grown on site as well as many of the herbs. An excellent place for romance. Men, be prepared to wear a jacket.

GREAT ATMOSPHERE TO CELEBRATE SPECIAL OCCASION. MENU HAD LOTS OF UNUSUAL COMBINATIONS OF FLAVORS YOU WOULD NOT THINK WOULD GO TOGETHER BUT THEY DO AND EVERYTHING WAS VERY DELICIOUS.
VERY ATTENTIVE WAITSTAFF. COULD NOT ASK FOR ANYTHING ELSE.
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is our third visit to McNinch House in the last year or so. Wesley does a superb job of finding just the right wines going as far as providing three or four wines to taste until he finds the ones that suits you.
The food is always superb with portions that are easily manageable so you have a great dining experience without feeling stuffed. It is always a 2 1/2 hour or more dining experience with plenty of ambience.
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
The atmosphere was intimate and refined. Wine steward was helpful and knowledgeable. Every member of the staff was attentive without imposing. Ordered the seven course grand menu, and every course was amazing. After dinner the staff arranged to have a horse-drawn carriage pick us up at the restaurant for an evening tour of downtown. Our best dining experience ever.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything that was important was first rate, from delicious cuisine artistically presented to knowledgeable helpful service to a tasteful decor. Highly recommend for that spot for the special occasion. The "but" is for the shabby look of the exterior from dead grass to dead plants to a mundane decor. Such a fine restaurant deserves a better " window bother world".
9/11/2013 5:00:00 PM
This was one of those evenings you will remember. The food was exquisite, the service was fantastic and the ambience was great. I was a little discouraged initially because the house is not accessible and I am handicapped. However, I persevered to maneuver the steps and the effort was well worth it. If it were not for the accessibility, I would be a regular customer.
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food, service and décor all speak to a different time, when diners expected something special for their money. Anthony Wesley the sommelier deserves particular recognition for his helpfulness, good humor and attention to detail.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of the best meals I've had
The whole experience was amazing! I'll save my money and go back as soon as I can. All of the staff were incredible and the wines Wes chose perfectly matched the meal
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Brought my fiancé here to celebrate our engagement and we had a spectacular time. The staff truly cares about your experience and their love of food and wine makes the dining experience even better. We had a wonderful time and will be back.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
McNinch House makes clear it cherishes tradition: A formal setting in a historic mansion with many of the original furnishings; a Southern-influenced eclectic menu that makes very few nods to modern trends; several versions of multi-course "tasting" menus; impeccable service; a full and varied wine list; and even a jacket-for-gents policy.
The menu evidently changes every week, so rather than mention specific dishes, we'll just say everything was prepared to perfection, and we enjoyed every bite. Prices seem high for Charlotte, so this is unlikely to become your favorite neighborhood drop-in, but you won't regret visiting here as often as you can. All in all, it's the ideal special-occasion restaurant.
9/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
Outstanding and Romantic
It was a beautiful experience for us. Ambience leant romance to our anniversary dinner. Food was very good and service was excellent.
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was, by far, the finest dining experience that my wife and i have ever enjoyed. We have eaten all over the world so we have many experiences from which to compare. The ambience, service and food are off-the-charts delightful. It is a must for anyone that enjoys fine dining at its best and have the time to relax and enjoy the evening. It isn't just a meal; it is an experience to be had and remembered. The wait staff, Cory, Walter and Jonathan could not have been more attentive and knolwedgeable. We left feeling as though we were long lost friends. Thanks for the wonderful evening and thanks for the memories!

Ideal for special occasions
If you are looking for a dining experience with outstanding food, wonderful wine pairings and a quiet atmosphere then this is the place.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of a kind dining experience
Hadn't been to the McNinch House in many years. A few minor changes but what hasn't changed is that it offers a truly unique and wonderful dining experience. The food and service are impeccable. It's exceptonally expensive but worth it for celebating special occasions.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
10th anniversary dinner
The place is elegant, and the food and service is outstanding and top notch, but it all comes at a premium cost. It's a great place for a special occasion. I like good values and purchased a $100 Living Social for $50, and that made it tolerable, but it was still over $200 for dinner for two.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
My wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at McNinch House this past weekend. The experience was incredible! They were kind enough to work through a reservation snafu (which was my fault)...and things went up hill from there! The service was wonderful. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable about the menu offerings. We highly recommend the wine pairing with the meal, as it was wonderful and the wine lessons inserted throughout the evening made it that much more memorable. We will definitely be back for our next special occasion!
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best in Charlotte
By far the best restaurant in Charlotte! An amazing dinner with gorgeous wine pairings.

Finally eating at this Gem
I've been to McNinch for the wine tastings but finally made it there for dinner and oh was it worth it!
Great ambiance. Great service. I was a little concerned about the simplicity of the menu but the food presentation and taste was outstanding. Wonderful experience.

Charlotte's uptown gem
McNinch house is tucked away in Charlotte's uptown 4th Ward neighborhood in a historic victorian home. The 5 star restaurant and wine list will make you feel like you are in another place. Always a fantastic experience from the food, wine to service. Great for special occasions but dont disregard for a night away from all the chains and everyday Charlotte places. You can choose from 3 course to 9 course chef tasting menu. The charm and character of McNinch is like no other in the area.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
McNinch House is a special place with quaint ambiance, beautiful table setting, attention to detail and professional service. The food was top notch in quality, quantity and visual appeal.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
You will not be disappointed with any aspect of this fine dining experience. The wine pairings were excellent. Try the trilogy to complete a delightful evening.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
After more than 20 years of waiting for the perfect time to visit The McNinch House for dinner, my wife and I and another couple had dinner this week for the first time and it was an unbelievable experience. Get ready to sit for 3 hours for one of the most relaxing dinner experiences featuring various courses off a limited but very impressive menu. The old, antique-type atmosphere of this past Mayor's Mansion is hard to duplicate and the fixtures in it, including the dinnerware, will take you back to the early 1900's. Courses are served in well-timed intervals and you are never rushed. The service is impeccable and delivers absolutely wonderful food and an exceptional wine list to choose from. We will be back.

First time at McNich
Overall, very good. Food and wine were terrific, service was pretty good, but could have been better. Hostess was friendly and helpful, but we had about a 15 minute gap after being seated before our waiter came to our table and I had to get up and go ask the hostess if we could have a cocktail while waiting rather than being greeted by our waiter within your normal 2-5 minutes. Our 6 pm reservation must have been a little too early for them.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Absolutely Perfect in every way
McNinch House was hands down the best possible choice for a memorable evening with my cousin and 84 year old French aunt who were in town for a short stay. Absolutely deserving of their four diamond status. Our evening was the picture of perfection from the moment we entered this wonderfully restored Charlotte historic landmark home. I lack the sophistication of vocabulary to even begin to put into words how wonderful the food was so I will have to go with simply saying, this was the best meal I have ever been served. Might not the place to be if you are in a rush or on a budget as McNinch House is more than a fine restaurant, it is an experience to be savored and remembered for a lifetime.

Best restaurant in Charlotte!
The best meal I have ever had, would definitely recommend! It's expensive, but worth every penny.
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
An excellent evening of dining
We had the chef's 9 course diner along with the accompanying wine pairings. The three appetizer courses were excellent; actually the crab cakes were outstanding. This was followed by three entrees, local fish, duck and the finally an extremely tender filet. All three entrees would have been considered a full serving in Europe and each was paired well with a matching wine. This was followed by a cheese course and finally a sweet cheese cake concluding the evening. We have traveled to New York to visit several of the "iron chefs' restaurants and actually this local experience compares favorably. At Christmas time the converted house is beautifully decorated and very festive. It was an outstanding location to celebrate our anniversary.

Wonderful! Best evening out
Wonderful! Best evening out I ever had in 66 years. Our party of eight felt the same. We had the Chefs Table offering and will do it again.
