Had a wonderful time at City Table. Booked for a business dinner, and my colleagues (who are from out of town and typically prefer the North End) couldn't stop raving about what a great time they had. Service was wonderful, and the menu unique and very good.

Tried it based on excellent Yelp reviews, and we weren't disappointed. Eclectic collection of food makes for an out-of-the-ordinary dining experience. Everything was very nicely selected and prepared. Service was excellent, too.

City Table is not your typical
City Table is not your typical hotel restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and the service is so friendly and professional, even the clientele are friendly. Lots of locals and tourists that are staying at The Lenox. Drinks are priced right and a good pour. A variety of menu items from casual to high end, All of which are great. Once you go, you'll become a regular.

We had a very nice Easter
We had a very nice Easter brunch at City Table. Their standard brunch menu has standard fare and also entrees with a twist, and they had added several Easter specials. All three of our entrees were delicious. Service was great too.

Had a lovely Easter Sunday brunch at City Table. Service was outstanding and food was delicious. We had the Griddled Croissant French Toast with Bananas Foster and the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict. All were fabulous and the prices were reasonable.

We love the history of the Lenox Hotel and they are always very accommodating. Not too crazy about the high chair seating or the bench seating. Much prefer being in the room which faces Boylston Street. I think it is a little more quiet. But I requested a seat near a window and they honored that request. I wish their lunch/brunch menu was more extensive especially on a holiday.

Great fancy brunch ambiance.
Great fancy brunch ambiance. Lots of space...which was nice, we didn't want a crowded bustling place on Sunday morning. Service was fine--our coffees and water were kept full which I always appreciate. Food choices were excellent, food itself was good. I don't say very good because my dish seemed to have been waiting a while before it was served--the hollandaise on the eggs benedict had a skin as if it had been sitting for a bit. But, nonetheless, it was very tasty. Perhaps that's how hollandaise gets quickly. I would recommend it to others for brunch.

Food was good, service was attentive but unobtrusive. Was a perfect brunch for a group of friends!

We come here often simply because the food is delicious, the portions are just right, maybe a lttle big, service is excellent and the price is right.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at this casual Back Bay "neighborhood" spot. While we have met friends for drinks and light bites before at City Bar next door to City Table (both are located off the main foyer of the Lenox Hotel), this was our first time eating at City Table. The beet salad was really fresh, colorful and yummy.

Good food, a bit busy and rushed
Overall, the food was pretty good. The soups were excellent, the gnocci a bit chewy. Service was very, very attentive, but we felt a bit rushed through our meal (the restaurant is small and was very busy). It can be noisy, but the tables are pretty far a part.

"Michael" literally read the menu to me over the phone b/c we were running so late we knew the kitchen would close before we arrived... we had an amazing meal a little after 11pm, basically waiting for us... wonderful waitress and bartender... delectable entries ...cod over corn chowder, unique beet and goat cheese salad & i swear the croutons were made with marzipan, though i forgot to ask), perfectly cooked med-rare burger, and a scrumptuous lobster roll.. and the homemade chips arrived almost as soon as we sat down, as promised... desserts were equally impressive... we've stayed at the Lenox before and have only had breakfast, or late night drinks... but we'll be back to City Table for this kind of dinner!

Nice Mother's Day Brunch
Came her for our traditional Mother's Day Brunch. Food was great from pancakes to eggs benedict to Croque Monsieur. Servide was attentive for the most part and friendly. Not a big place so the noise was low and it di not feel hectic. Nice decor and atmosphere. Would recommend.
5/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had my husband's birthday dinner here. Everything was outstanding. The server was attentive, but kept assuring us that we didn't need to rush. My husband and I had the tuna which was cooked perfectly. We also had the crab dip and lobster soup which were both delicious. They were very understanding when we were running late due to traffic. I would definitely return.

Great find in Boston!
After the hustle and bustle of the Prudential Mall and Copley Place filled with convention goers, finding City Table was a welcome relief from the crowds. We made our reservation for an early dinner and were accommodated when we were running late and then seated promptly. The service was attentive and the wait staff was friendly and helpful -- none of the lag that can happen when a restaurant is slow.
All our meals were well prepared and beautifully plated. We were all very happy with our selections and sorry that we didn't have the time (or the room in our tummies) to check out the dessert menu.
City Table is on my list for a return trip to Boston and I will be recommending it to friends.

Excellent food, romantic atmosphere
My husband and I had dinner at City Table last Thursday night, having made reservations after seeing great reviews on Tripadvisor. The reviews were well deserved...the food was excellent! The appetizer we ordered -- gouda filled pork meatballs -- was delicious. I had a spring risotto that was lovely and flavorful, and my husband had a pasta dish that was also great. We ran into friends who were dining there that night who said they go every Thursday night after working out at a nearby gym; they love the food and said the service is warm, friendly, and attentive. That was our experience too. A lovely evening and we would definitely go again next time we're in Boston.

Great evening, but a bit pricy.
We had dinner with friends in Boston and City Table was conveniently located to our friends' apartment. Everything was wonderful...Food, service, perfect for spending an evening with friends. My only comment is there everything seemed a bit overpriced. The entrees each could have been a few dollars cheaper. Just under $30.00 for an entree is a bit pricy. Perhaps one of the reasons why there were few tables occupied.

Our server was amazing. Attentive, knowledgable and welcoming. Great dinner and experience.

Solid Back Bay restaurant
When you first enter City Table, you immediately notice that is adjacent to the Lenox Hotel which can set off a lot of red flags for most people hesitant of hotel restaurants, like myself. However, you are immediately taken aback by the rich ambiance, the incredible decor filled with what appeared to be hand-blown glass. The food itself is contemporary American, nothing incredibly mind-blowing on the menu but a diverse set of options for dinner for two broke college students like my girlfriend and myself.tHowever, it tastes really good and offers nice twists on well-made food. Placed ideally in the heart of the Back Bay, one cannot ask for much more for much less than City Table.

Good dinner, for this neighborhood
Our two fish entrees were excellent. My cod was perfectly cooked, and the vegetables and light corn chowder-style sauce were all delicious. The dessert, baked summer berries with vanilla ice cream, was quite good. Good selection of wines by the glass. Good service. Noisy, but tolerable.
On the other hand, the house salad, while very fresh, had a dressing that was slightly sweet, which we didn't care for. Can't comment on the bread, which we didn't touch; arrived nice and warm but appeared to be ordinary boring white rolls.
With some fine tuning, dinner could be excellent. Am willing to give it another try. A good choice in a neighborhood with restaurants either a bit too pricey or catering to shoppers and tourists with mediocre food.

City table is a gem
Fantastic cocktails, very sophisticated atmosphere and terrific wait staff. It is always my go-to place on Boylston for a cocktail.
8/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Breakfast was great and so was the mimosa del rio (sparkling with pureed mango). The server needed to be a lot better about filing water, but at least he was friendly.

Enjoyable early evening supper
I ate here with my brother, who was in town for business, and my two adult sons. We had a REALLY early reservation (5:30 - we generally eat quite a bit later, but my brother had to catch an 8:30 flight), so the restaurant was pretty empty, though there were people at the bar. The food was excellent. My brother had the cod, I had the fish special - halibut filet - and my sons both had the steak frites. We could not have been more pleased with the food, unless someone was lying. My fish was EXCELLENT. The portions were pretty big. Great services. I will definitely go here again and recommend it to my friends. The prices were decent, and there is a really variety of choices on the menu.

Check, check and check!
While I was in Boston attending a conference, and wanted to invite my clients out to a nice dinner, I didn't want to make a mistake and just pick any restaurant so I asked my assistant to find a restaurant with the following criteria:
- Close to Haynes Convention Centre
- Nice atmosphere
- Great food & service reviews
- American/Boston cuisine
- Reasonably priced
My team went on line, did some research and found the perfect venue. I would visit this restaurant again without hesitation.
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
City Table excellent as always
Friendly and attentive staff were accommodating the entire evening. The menu had options for fish lovers, vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Wine was excellent and the meal was very well prepared. Very happy with the experience overall.

Quality, creativity, price
I was looking for a place to try during restaurant week in the Back Bay and found this gem in a great location and had no problem getting a reservation the day of on a Friday night. Red Flag??? Absolutely not! It was amazing that City Table had any openings at all considering their eclectic drink menu and yummy food options at fair pricing. The meatballs are a must have as is the chocolate cake!! I will definitely go back as the service was excellent, the location perfect, and the food - too many good options to pick in one outing.

Excellent food, service too slow
The food here was top-notch, but the service wasn't. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but it seemed to take forever to get waited on. The food took too long to arrive, and I'm pretty sure my server forgot about my glass of wine altogether, then finally brought it after a long wait. The servers were all a bit sullen, too. Maybe they had their "C" team on that night in the front of the house, but the food they (finally) brought was really excellent. I had the seared Ahi tuna - prepared about as nicely as I've ever had it. The wedge salad was just right, too. Lots of goodies on it, and just the right size.

Staying at a hotel
Staying at a hotel nearby and City Bar/Table not being a recommended local eatery brings into question why that may be so. In any case it's an error as this restaurant is local gem. Don't miss this "authentic" local drinking and food "place to be". Dollar for dollar a terrific drink value with friendly attentive service. Bartender, John, may be the best martini maker in the city. The lobster roll was packed with what seemed like 1/2lb of succulent, beautifully seasoned lobster. No filler here!!! We'll absolutely go back and in fact a second night during our stay in Boston!!!

lovely dinner at City Table
My husband, 19 year old daughter and I had a lovely dinner here while visiting Boston for college weekend. Waiter was friendly and competent - menu had a nice range of vegetarian options - cheese plate & Kale salad were perfect and my husband enjoyed his steak. Very nice atmosphere and great location-will definitely come again.

A friend and I went to City Table for Sunday brunch. I had not been since Azure was there. The food was yummy but I was truly blown away by the service. Our server was spot on. He was attentive, friendly and alert. That experience alone would make me go back.

Excellent Gluten-Free Service

Went here for birthday dinner with 6 people and had a fantastic time! Food was delicious! Had the trio, and the flatbread for apps and both were great. Dinner I had the NY Strip and it was delicious with potatoes spinach and white cream sauce. Others in my group got the filet (special for the night), the chicken and the steak frites. All raved about their meals. Went through 2 bottles of wine and was not terribly expensive for the wine. The waiter knew it was my birthday and gave us complementary pieces of chocolate and carrot cake which was delicious!

Very nice spot for brunch!
Located inside the Lenox Hotel- great selection of brunch items, I asked for a spot by a window in my open table reservation and they delivered that! Server was very nice, but not so much attentive. He could have stopped in a few more times so that we could order more timely and ask a couple of questions.

Gluten Free Sensitive Menu
We dined here on Friday night and I LOVED the home made potato chips. I ordered the Red Snapper with a spicy Thai sauce (which was really spicy!) and deliciously flavorful coconut rice. The corn salsa on top was not good - too much vinegar. My boyfriend ordered the cod, which was a little dry, with 4 clams over beans The beans and broth were good, had great flavor, but beans and cod together is an odd texture pairing. The drinks are GOOD and STRONG.

This past weekend was our anniversary and we decided to go to City Table for our dinner. the service was AMAZING! i wish i could remember our waiters name because he was probably the the most polite and professional waiter we have ever had. he treated us like royalty. the food was also delicious and was served in a vert timely manor. i have nothing bad to say about the City Table and would for sure go back again.

FABULOUS FOOD, SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE
THIS POSH LITTLE PLACE, THAT'S PART OF THE LENOX HOTEL, IS A GEM! WE WENT WITH 3 GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE WITH TWO ON CANES AND THE SERVICE WAS STELLAR...PATIENCE AND KINDNESS PREVAILED. THE BRUNCH MENU OFFERED A VARIETY OF UNUSUAL THINGS AS WELL AS THE USUAL FARE. EVERYTHING OUT OF THE KITCHEN WAS SUPER! WILL DEFINITELY KEEP THIS ON A LIST OF "MUST GO TO RESTAURANTS" EVERYTIME WE'RE IN BOSTON!
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
I was a little Leary about going to a restaurant located in a hotel (it's in the Lenox). Usually hotel food is just "ok". Well I was definitely pleasantly surprised by this place. The ambiance was fantastic. Once you walked in, you forgot you wre in a hotel, it looked like a swanky Boston Restaurant should. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Their wine list was great and we opted for the French red table wine which was delicious. We enjoyed the cheese plate and oysters to start followed by the steak frites and lamb chip. Both were cooked perfect and truly delicious. We ended the night with coffee drinks and carrot cake! All in all a fantastic meal with great service and a beautiful restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Good restaurant for Thanksgiving
We've gone to City Table for Thanksgiving, we are new comer in Boston so we would like to taste the real meal of Thanksgiving. It has been a good surprise, the soup with smoked ham was excelent and the turker too even this one was little bit cold. About the desert, the pumkin pie wasn't in our liking because it didn't taste like desert (without sugar). But the service was very good, maybe less wait between starter and entree would be great.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Dropped in to take advantage of Thanksgiving hours. Girlfriend had the traditional thanksgiving dinner, but I opted for the NY Strip. Extremely well-prepared. Excellent atmosphere and service. I will definitely return.
