Wonderful locavore menu
Had a great birthday meal. It was hard to choose among so many terrific dishes. The roasted chicken for 2 was perfectly done and zucchini soup was best I've ever had. Fantastic service and an extensive wine and cocktail list. Will return soon. Well worth the effort to walk the extra blocks to far east side

A celebration of flavors
We enjoyed a celebratory dinner at Hearth week before last and ended up celebrating the chef and the staff! This was by far the best meal we have had outside of Paris. Once again, we thought we had been transported to another planet where our sense of taste and smell took on a new dimension as each course tantalized us with new and subtle flavors. Dinner at Hearth is how we will be treating each other in the future. Thank you for a magical and memorable evening

Excellent food and drink but
Excellent food and drink but very noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation.

As always the staff steps
As always the staff steps up to the plate to ensure your dining experience is nothing but amazing from the time you walk in the door till the time you leave. They ensure that all is 110% no matter if you are a regular or its your first experience at their restaurant. My hat is off to you Hearth, thanks for always making it an amazing experience!!

we had to eat quickly and they could not have been nicer!

Hidden brunch beauty
From the variations on the Bloody Mary and the Mimosa (grapefruit-thyme!) to the incredibly savory brunch options (veal/ricotta with polenta), everything had a slight artisanal spin that wasn't pretentious. The decor is warm and inviting. Would definitely recommend.

In the LES or East Village?
We had a wonderful tour of the Tenement Museum and came to Hearth, which we had been to before and enjoyed the well-thought out food. We were not disappointed. Our bass, in a mix of pea tendrils (beautiful) and consomme with finely grated bacon was perfect. The delicate fish flavor was enhanced beautifully. My dandelion greens salad was a treat (with egg and red onion), played well with the natural bitterness of the greens. And when isn't a little amuse bouche a great treat and fun surprise. (A lovely sip of cold soup.) Come here to be entertained by seasonal food.

Went with my wife and her grandmother for brunch. Servers were great and the food was better. Thanks!

Food & Service Exceptional!
From the moment we were greeted by the host we felt like we were being welcomed like old friends, and to us, that means we will be back in the future. The service staff excelled, and really wanted us to enjoy our meal. The food was exceptionally good from the starter to the lamb main dish. The wine recommended by the sommelier was spot on and the limoncello was the perfect finale to a terrific meal!

Upscale casual bursting with flavor
We tried the 7 course tasting menu, which was basically 6 items off the menu of the day plus a palate cleansing fruit and cheese course. They were able to "pescetarian" diets with no problem. Service was always friendly and attentive. Food was flavorful, taking advantage of the locally sourced produce. No heavy, buttery sauces, just a simple touch of salt and pepper, olive oil and a few herbs to accentuate the natural flavors of the ingredients. Loved everything we had. We will visit again in a few weeks.

We enjoy ourselves immensely every visit...and somehow Chef Canora is always present. The menu is inventive yet not über crazy, farm fresh local ingredients, tasting option always worthwhile...amazing wine and beer/ cider list. Outstanding and knowledgable waitstaff. Yet casual and laid back. Really nothing but compliments from me!

Second time. Food outstanding. Flavor profiles incredible. Can not wait to go back.

I had great expectations for Hearth - the food was good but not great (maybe my expectation were too high?). Don't get me wrong, it was perfectly tasty, but I didn't get a sense it was Italian??? The wines were expensive and we found ourselves opting for the 'cheaper' bottle just to stay in our budget :( Saying that the cheaper bottle was a lovely Shiraz from France and was on the waitress' recommendation.
Service was impecable, and we didn't have to wait to be seated. We also got a free 'corn soup' as a taster when we sat down which I thought was a lovely touch. The noise levels were pleasant too and I was able to hear my date - actually I was able to hear the date next to me too :(
All in all, I would recommend Hearth!!!

Good place for brunch
It delivered on the reviews. The duck was great, and the staff was attentive and helpful but not pushy

Amazing Food and Great Service!
We recently dined at Hearth and had the best experience. It was the best meal I 've had in a long time and the waiter was so amazing!!! I recommend trying the desserts and the Foie Gras and the lamb!

The Absolute Best
The Veal Meatballs are amazing. Off the chart amazing. The gnocchi is the best in the world. The wine list is varied and you are bound to find something you never had before. I love asking the server to match the wine with something unusual and I was never sorry.
Our server Sara was great as is the entire staff of this great restaurant. Casual, friendly and an absolute professional. A hard combination to match.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
They started serving brunch not too long ago. It's a creative and delicious menu. Definitely worth trying.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Awesome Bloody Mary options - the Fennel Anchovy and the Smoked Olive, especially the smoked olive Bloody Mary - taste sensation. The brunch meals were great and very tasty. Paul Brady also referred us to the Gramercy Tavern which was spot on. Highly recommend Hearth.

Enjoyed a delicious brunch this last weekend. We were seated almost immediately, the service was great, and included a complimentary citrus shot. Everyone's dishes were savory and rich, and I intend to return to try dinner sometime.

Expensive but delicious
Not for everyday but the food is fantastic and unusual. Would recommend for a very special occasion.

A great dining experience
I have now been to Hearth twice and both times it has affirmed for me that it offers a really enjoyable dining experience. The food is excellent and has none of the pomp or pretentiousness that often accompany really good restaurants. The wait staff is friendly and makes dining there more fun. There may be restaurants with better food, but none that I've been to would I choose over Hearth on any given night.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Warm and Friendly
Nice atmosphere, amazing bloody marys, and despite crowds, no rushing. Great place for brunch with family and friends.

A Meal to Die For
My wife and I eat out a lot, and I have to say this was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. While NYC has many many restaurants this one is a gem. My recommendation is to add it your list of places to visit, and don't miss it. BTW the service is great. They have trained their wait staff well, and from the serving of bread, to the serving of the meal, to the attention paid to the guest, you feel great when you leave.
This is a great experience.

Since we only come to the city a few time a year I research restaurants looking for that "Home Run" experience. Hearth was a "Grand Slam". Our server Beth's knowledge of both the food and bar menu made it a 5 star overall experience. I could easily highlight every dish we tasted. The grilled octopus was the tenderest we have ever had. The Colorado Lamb served 3 ways was also the best we ever had. The wine by the glass offered both a 6oz. pour and a 3oz. tasting. This gave me the opportunity to pair a different wine with each course which Beth selected.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
the food was really tasty but the wine list needs work - a bit on the expensive side and not enough variety.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
I heard good things about the restaurant - and I wasn't disappointed. The server did an excellent job making us feel like we were his only table (when we were certainly not). The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. And they offered to customize dishes based on dietary or allergy restrictions - not necessary for me, but it was a nice gesture for those with any concerns.
I did the 7-course tasting dinner. Sizes were small, but appropriate - I actually struggled to finish the final 2 desserts! Flavors ranged from rich to delicate, and I was pleased by some new texture or flavor from dish to dish.

Hearth has Heart
What a wonderful find in this East Village setting. From the outside, nothing of note, but walk in and you are greeted by a laid back vibe. I knew our party was in for a treat when you can look straight back to the open kitchen, complete with chef's table. We were there for an early Sunday brunch--Make sure to have a reservation. Our waitress was well versed in the menu and the mood was set for a leisurely brunch. Must haves: apple cider donut holes with maple glaze, toasted bread with housemade ricotta and veggies, french toast. The portion sizes were just right--although we had a lot of different tastes as we were sharing, it wasn't overwhelming. It is obvious care and thought went into the menu, staff, and ambience. Hearth has heart!

Lovely meal could have been better if there hasn't been such a long time in between waiter visits.
Charming waiter but clearly overworked.
Perhaps 20 minutes from time we were asked about drinks to ordering meal.
Food was quite good but the noise level was annoying.
Waiting another 1/2 hour after dinner dishes were cleared to order dessert was ridiculous.
10/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Sat at 2 of the 4 kitchen seats. Love watching the work, the energy ... And the miscues. Food was great. It's like dinner and a show. The dining room is beautiful, too. Great place, even when the chef/owner isn't in.

This was my 3rd dinner at
This was my 3rd dinner at Hearth. We were treating a friend for her birthday. Dinner was wonderful from start to finish. Hearth's bread is wonderful. The amuse bouche of split pea soup with lemon was a lovely starter. We shared the beet salad and the warm vegetable salad. The beet salad, with nuggets of compressed apples was incredibly delicious. My husband and friend then shared the Spatchcock chicken, while I had the lamb entrée. I loved the array of lamb and its accompaniments. The chicken, enough really to feed 3, was delicious. Our friend chose the apple cider doughnuts to celebrate her birthday. They were delicious. Our server then brought us a small piece of the chocolate cake as an extra b'day surprise. Lovely!

Great for Sunday brunch
We enjoyed our brunch visit with a group of 5 to Hearth. The atmosphere is very open and airy, with lots of big tables for groups. The menu and service were excellent.

Brought some European friends visiting NYC for the first time and they were extremly impressed. First by the caring staff and special treats from the chef and then by our meals.

Consistently impressive. Hearth
Consistently impressive. Hearth represents a seasonal and local menu with italian influences better than any NYC restaurant.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Still a great dining experience for real foodies and onophiles. Teriffic casual ambience without losing any of the specialness of this occasion.

Hearth is my new favorite restaurant!! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner and it was a great decision. We absolutely loved it! I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu. The food was incredible- so fresh and tasty. The environment was great and there was a good mix of people. The restaurant had a comfortable/cozy feel but was still fun and trendy, and the service made you feel even more welcome. Overall: GO HERE!

Lovely Food, Lovely Atmospher
All the items we ordered for lunch were very fresh and vibrant tasting. My table really enjoyed the roasted autumn vegetables, ricotta on toast. The poached eggs in our brunch dishes were perfectly done. And the service was very attentive but not intrusive.

It's called "Hearth" for a reason
Every time I go, it's a new and delightful treat. The atmosphere and food is always reminiscent of anyone's idealized version of "home" should be like - warm, friendly and comfortable. Much to my delight, it's also just like home was when my mom was around - always filled with the energy and bustle of a kitchen with love (in the form of food) emanating from it and with so many varying and wonderful aromas filling the air as to be nearly intoxicating.
This particular trip was on an "off day" (Monday), so the Sous Chef Luigi was running the kitchen. I had the good fortune of being able to sit at the kitchen counter and ask him what he liked to serve - and trusted him to hook m up. He did not disappoint - nor did his staff. Spectacular!
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a great time! Staff is very friendly and food was on time, well proportioned and overall very good!
We will definitely come back.

Wonderful "Date Night" Spot
I wanted to treat my boyfriend to a "date night" for a change since he is usually the one who organizes those. I had heard great things about Hearth from friends and family, so I decided that's where we would go. Hearth definitely lived up to my expectations. I think the ambiance is very homey and romantic with the brick walls. The food was great - I would definitely recommend the Roasted Beet and Carrot Salad and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Tart that we had for dessert. The only disappointment is that we weren't able to sit at the chef's counter because it's first-come, first-served; however, I look forward to going back again for the tasting menu and (fingers crossed) a seat at the chef's counter!

The Best Veal Chop!
I love the food for several reasons: the quality of the ingredients, the local sourcing, the flavor. Hearth is an amazing restaurant. I love it more each time I visit. The Veal Chop is the best veal chop I ever had the pleasure of eating. I recommend it for anyone who loves veal. But it will spoil every other place's veal. So be careful.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Had a nice dinner at Hearth over the weekend. The dishes were outstanding and service was attentive. We will return!
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Loved this restaurant! The food was delicious and different from the usual brunch offerings. I had poached eggs on greens with toast - yum. The coffee was fresh and delicious and you must order the banana chocolate muffins - so delicious. The waitresses were attentive and friendly. Highly recommend eating there
