The food was very good and
The food was very good and well presented. Wine choices were plentiful. A beautiful dessert for my friend's birthday ended a lovely afternoon. The best part of the whole experience however was Archie. He was attentive, helpful with menu and wine selections, patient in taking pictures with all of our phones and all with a wonderful, kind and fun personality. A wonderful ambassador for the restaurant. We would go back because of him.

Perfect from beginning to end.
I've been here before for Happy Hour but never dinner. We were seated at a table in the corner which helped for people watching. Our waiter was amazing from the beginning, Roger was very attentive but not intrusive and have great recommendations. Started with the tuna tartare and the jalapeño caviar was a delicious twist. I had the scallops and they were perfectly seared and the right sweetness. Finished with the Ruhstaller custard.. I was stuffed but it sounded like it was worth a try. I wasn't wrong. It was unbelievable. I would not hesitate to come back again and again.

Outstanding Staff & Food
Love this place. From the ease of their valet service to the outstanding menu, it's one of my favorite dinner spots. Great ambiance, excellent staff & food. And if you've got the time, you must stay the night in the swanky hotel The Citizen

Great menu of wonderfully fresh food. Good service, staff served us well and helped us meet our time deadline to make our 8 PM concert down the street.

I have dined at Grange several times this dinner was great as always the hostess knew my name when I came in, she had our table already.
The food was great drinks were on time and perfect.
Great place for any occasion

Really excellent meal 4 blocks from the Capitol building and our hotel - Salad, trout, and scallops were all delicious with delicate flavors. Granache wine recommendation was terrific. Signature margarita was very good, and the "Tusk" cocktail - a Manhattan with bacon vermouth and candied bacon (!) was amazing. Really nice atmosphere and subtly attentive service. Would highly recommend and hope to return.

A nice surprise
We were originally planing to have dinner at The Firehouse or Ella. It was a rainy day and we decided to stay in the hotel. We had lunch at the Grange based on the receptionist recommendation. It was quite tasty so we went back for dinner. While they do not have a large section of food, they make it up with fresh ingredients (local produces etc) and excellent cooking skills. This will be one of our favorite restaurants in SAC.

An Oasis of Luxury and Calm
We had a small brunch celebration for my 19 year-old's birthday and needed a Sacramento location to accomodate grandparents and other travelers. The Grange was a great location and a wonderful restaurant for a Sunday morning for brunch. The service was polite and attentive, and the atmosphere was the perfect oasis of luxury and calm. I highly recommend the restaurant and look forward to visiting again.

Guest Chef Extraordinaire
Guest chef, Mark Dommen from One Market Restaurant in San Francisco joined Grange Chef Oliver Ridgeway. The 5-course prix fixe menu was amazing. Lamb Tartare with pickled mustard seed, piperade, yogurt and basil. Squash, eggplant, tomato, basil, almond and olive (some eggplant pieces in mine were a bit undercooked.) Roasted sturgeon with tomato risotto, squash blossoms, okra and padron peppers - BEST Strugeon EVER (including the one served at the Tower Bridge Farm to Fork Dinner!) Wild Boar with black-eyed peas, scarlet turnips and watermelon rind. Lastly a dessert of Bartlett Pear Sorbet with syrah grape consomme, chardonnay grapes and almond tuile. "Celebrity" sightings of Randall Selland and Hank Shaw.

A wonderful experience, which was on par with some of the Michellin restaurant's in Chicago.

Best Brunch in a LONG time
The brunch we had at Grange last Saturday was spectacularly good. We ranged from a amazingly fresh-tasting but layered smoked chicken hash through reinvented huevos rancheros to seared ahi on a stunningly good cucumber salad. One of the things that has always impressed me about Grange is the separability of flavors. Even in dishes that have many ingredients you can taste them all; they don't, as is often the case, blur into one another or become overwhelmed by one flavor.

Chance encounter was a lucky one!
My first choice for dining in Sacramento was closed on Sunday, so I tried Grange, which looked good online. I found easy parking nearby. From the first moment, I felt welcomed and appreciated throughout the entire dining experience. Service was excellent at every stage. The food, however, is key, and my two dishes (steamed mussels and clams, and pan-seared diver scallops, were both delicious, with unusual ingredients and flavor combinations, and beautifully presented. My server helped me decide on a wine by the glass that paired perfectly with both creations. I will welcome returning to Grange when I find myself in Sacramento again. Thanks to everyone at Grange for a great evening.

Wonderful dinner for a special anniversary! Staff were warm, friendly and helpful with just the right amount of attention and service without being overly intrusive. We tried some excellent appetizers, melons with prosciutto and heirloom tomatoes with cucumbers and watermelon that opened up our tastebuds to a fantastic dinner of diver scallops!

Great Lunch Find
The family really enjoys the Grange restaurant. The decor and ambiance are memorable. The lunch menu will happily satisfy any appetite (we have not dined there for dinner). The food is served freshly cooked and has a good presentation, We will return often!

We come to Grande often this place is great. The hostess Sydney is great she is always warm and welcoming. We sat at one of the bar high tables our waitress was great she was very attentive to our needs. Ashley the bartender was awesome she made the drinks perfect came over and talked to us and made sure everything was good.
The food was awesome, always cooked to order and fresh. We have never been let down by Grande we would HIGHLY recommend Grande to anyone.
We will be back!!

My dinner was amazing. The flavors were subtle yet complex, and everything was extremely fresh. This was the best meal I've eaten in Sacramento.

We had a delicious meal, superb classic cocktails and a wonderful pinot noir, and we look forward to returning in May for a family graduation dinner when our son graduates from Sacramento State!

The Best Duck Ever
The food and our waiter was over the top. Every suggestion was right on. Our son said it was the best duck he has ever had and believe me he is hard to please. Unfortunately the wine we had ordered was out but the substitute was perfect. The only mistake was she said it would be same price but it was more. We didn't care, we paid and enjoyed the meal and wine without exception and will be back. Thank you for my complementary desert to help celebrate my birthday.

Local focus with global results
My wife and I drove up from Danville for a music show downtown Sacramento. Had a reservation at The Citizen Hotel so luckily took the easy way out and wandered downstairs to try the in-house restaurant. What a treasure! I had to have some Templeton Rye on the rox while my girl had the Secret Affair, a Templeton cocktail concocted by Jayson Wilde from San Francisco's Bourbon & Branch. With this we enjoyed the tuna tartare appetizer. Moving to dinner we shared prosciutto wrapped with ribbons of melon. A different approach. Matched a Pinot to her hearty bean and tuna dish while I had a Rhone blend red with my smoky duck breast dish. We have been dreaming about the day we return. Go!

Everything was PERFECT
Our usual restaurant favorites were not open on Sunday. After looking at the Grange Web site I decided to try it. We were early but accommodated right away. The interior is architectural and stylish. We had a cocktail in the bar. The coffee martini and the Citizen Margarita were hits. The service was excellent! Our head server was educated, personable and fun. The wine list is inspired with the blends separated into their own category. I inquired about the Flowers "Perennial" since it was the first time I had seen Chardonnay in a red blend. They promptly called over another waiter who explained the wine. I ordered it. It was great! Everyone's meal was perfect; beautiful presentations, flavors, and temperatures. Five Stars!

I've been here several times
I've been here several times and have usually been very satisfied. Great food, great staff. Most recent visit the service was a little disappointing. Just not up to the superior level of service I have come expect here.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
I was very pleased with our experience at the Grange. The food was very tasty. The service was a little slow but there appeared to be some large parties. I wish we didn't have to sit so close to the large party but it wasn't too bad. The duck was very good and the malted dessert was a nice surprise. The prices are high but it does qualify as fine dining. You get what you pay for. Overall, I would have to say I'm very happy with our visit to the Grange and look forward to the next visit.

The Grange was a great place for a luncheon meeting, as always.

Best in Sacramento
This is by far one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in Sacramento. The attention to detail is outstanding. They make their own gin, their own tonic, and complete it with their own garnish. Everything seemed special, and the service was exceptional as well.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service were outstanding. Our table had duck, tuna, a hamburger, pasta, and everyone was impressed.
My best meal so far in Sacramento.

Wonderful Dining Experience
From start to finish this was a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance is so nice. The appetizers were unique and delicious. The white wine was crisp and the red wine was smooth. Great selections for wine drinkers. The menu was a delight of farm to table cooking. Each diner loved their meal. The ratatouille and pasta were divine and the steaks were done perfectly and so tasty along with the chickpea fries. The dessert variety we were served was fantastic. Our server, Tim, was beyond the best as were all the others we met including Eric.
P..S. I made the reservations on-line and it was very easy to do.

Table was ready when we arrived. Lovely room; not too loud (we had no trouble hearing each other). Service sharp and attentive, but not smothering. Waiter knowledgeable. Food really delicious. Altogether a wonderful evening!

My birthday celebration
Made open an open table RSVP and got there about 30 mins early. We requested to sit upstairs unfortunately they didn't have servers for upstairs. Also we didn't realize certain tables were reserved out for the specific amount of people. It was a little disappointing because the asked the hostess if we could sit at a round table by the window. Our asked our server and he assures us he would take great care of us. He explained the menu very well and was very knowledgeable about the restaurants mission and standpoint for fame to fork items. He was also very nice and made great recommendations. He also got me a dessert for my birthday. I was very happy and highly recommend Grange and ask for Kenny!

Really enjoyed the Grange!
I have been to The Grange on numerous occasions and everytime the food has been excellent and so has the service, especially the Power Lunches. This time I brought a group of ladies from my job who had never eaten there before. I told them how unbelievably good the food was and how I enjoyed the ambience. Well, this visit was the icing on the cake!! We got to meet Shaquille O'Neal who was there eating lunch as well. We were in awe that such a fine person was eating among us, he even allowed us to take pictures with him. Congratulations to The Grange, Sacramento & Kevin Johnson for bringing in such an exceptional person to our great city!! Thanks so very much!

Great food, service, atmosphere.
I was hoping for a nice evening to treat my parents for a special occasion. We had been here once before, and satisfied with the experience, enough for me to think it would be a good option for the occasion. It exceeded our expectation as the food was really special: novel takes on familiar themes (trout, chicken, risotto) and notably delicious. The service was professional but friendly. Notwithstanding some lively outbursts from a nearby table, the atmosphere was at once vibrant and comfortable. The experience is not inexpensive, but for what it is, the bill seemed quite reasonable.

Contemporary Menu; classic service
Grange is that perfect blend of classic, polished service along with a contemporary farm-to-table ethic. Not to fussy with either concept, the service is knowledgeable and helpful; the menu appetizing, but not precious in its affinity for addressing current foodie trends. The wine list is suitable for the cuisine though I wish it were not so reliant on California for its scope of offerings.
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
The service was excellent.
The service was excellent. The chowder was too sweet but the sturgeon was very delicious. Chef brad did an excellent job on the charcuterie...totally spectacular but I thought it was over priced at $25. I would consider returning to give it a second chance.

We would recommend this restaurant
We would recommend this restaurant for their menu selection--great combination of ingredients. Everything we ordered was
outstanding. The service was outstanding. When your meal was delivered, it was again described to you--I don't know about others, but after reading and ordering you don't remember all the ingredients included--you just know you ordered chicken, steak, etc.

Both of our meals were cooked
Both of our meals were cooked to perfection. The Brussel Spouts were outstanding, best I have ever had!

Another great experience!
I've been here a number of times and always am happy with the food and the service. This time we were celebrating a family event and we chose Grange, because we knew it would be the kind of upscale experience we were looking for.
We had a vegetarian, a pescatarian(only fish), and a couple of regular eaters. ;) All of us had beautiful, yummy food and a couple of starters(flatbread and the vegetable crisps) that we all enjoyed.
The ambiance is great, but I think the stars are earned by the overall experience and I really appreciate the professional wait staff. I don't know what their process it for hiring, training and maintaining the people they have, but I hope they never change! The best place in Sacramento for dining.

Amazing food, harried service...
I had the most amazing meal! Butternut squash risotto and brussell sprouts with some sort of magic bacon - delish! The service was a little hectic, though. Even with reservation took some time to be seated and we were forgotten after checking in. The waiter promptly told us that they were very busy and we better get our orders in or he hoped we didn't have any other plans for the night. Kind of surprising when we had 5:30 reservations and they open at 5:30!
Otherwise, table service was nice and the experience excellent.

Burgers are amazing
We went for lunch and most of us had the burger. Everyone said that they were possibly the best burgers they've ever had.
Staff we're very helpful and polite.
Would recommend if you're in the area.

Glad I Didn't Have to Cook
Great cocktails@bar while waking for our table. We all had the Prix fix meal-two of us had the turkey and the others had the Niman Ranch beef, which they ran out of at 5:30 and substituted another type of cut, which proved fine for the two eating the beef. The first course was fine way to begin our meal. However, the second course for us turkey diners was a tad disappointing due only to the white meat turkey bring rather dry and in need of hydration in more gravy, but overall the meal was delicious. We also loved our dessert..Beignets and the Sweet potato pumpkin pie. Our server was attentive, professional and very solicitous to all our meal needs.

Great Dining Experence
I really appreciate that the entire staff did such a fantastic job with Thanksgiving dinner. My daughters are becoming “foodies” this experience was one that they’ll not soon forget. I’d recommend the GRANGE to one and all.
Parking is never an issue as they have a “first rate” valet.

Thanksgiving Feast was stupendous
For the first time, all kids were out of town for Thanksgiving in both our family and best friends. We decided to go out to eat as a foursome at one of our favorite restaurants in Sacto.
The food was outstanding, not too much, and our waiter , Roger, was the consummate professional.
It was a pleasure to be there and we'll be there again soon, no holiday needed.

We felt important & taken care of!
My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Grange. Not only was the food Excellent, but as soon as we walked in the door we felt important and known. It wasn't like most restaurants where you feel like everyone serving you is putting on a face to get better tips, we actually felt genuinely taken care of. There wasn't pressure to buy the most expensive wine or meal but more to enjoy the experience. It was so refreshing! We don't eat out much because we have an infant and babysitters are scarce, so we like to make the most of our time out. We were there long after the dining room closed but never felt rushed or that we were in anyone's way. And the Food was amazing! We oohed and ahed through every course. We definitely recommend Grange!

Surprise brunch experience
I took my Mom there for lunch before a matinee at Wells Fargo Pavilion, & was surprised they were serving brunch. However, they did have a burger, salad & sandwich on the menu. We both chose the dungeness crab omelet & house potatoes. It was delicious! The coffee was rich & bold, too. Our server was very friendly & attentive. The best part was that I had two $20 gift cards that I'd had for a long time, so I wasn't sure they would be accepted. They did accept them, but our bill was a few dollars over the amount the gift cards would've covered. Our server arranged with his manager to take care of the rest of the bill rather than charge us the remaining few dollars. Of course, we appreciated the gesture & left him a big tip!

Local Food Based Restaurant!
Wow...This was one exceptional restaurant! It was not cheap at all, but the food was truly at the fine dining quality level with everything done just right from not having too much salad dressing for salad, to offering accommodations for gluten-free or grain-free folks, to seriously perfectly seasoned hand cut fries, and to offering flour-less chocolate cake with a glob of white chocolate also. A lot of food was local from our local organic farms in Sacramento valley, too!
