lovely lunch in a gentle atmosphere
lovely lunch in a gentle atmosphere that encourage conversation with a hard of hearing friend...I do not like noisy restaurants and the noise level at 3 Seasons was perfect, delicious food, attentive (but not too attentive) servers...thank you

What a delightful find in a beautiful historic building (old courthouse complete with rotunda). Service was impeccable. Food is expesive but well prepaid.

Our group of 9 was placed
Our group of 9 was placed alone upstairs for lunch, which made the service slow. The food came out relatively quickly, but both before and after we found ourselves looking around for our server to place our order and then again for our check.
The restaurant itself is in an interesting building - we decided it must have been a ballroom at one point? - and is an lovely mix of old and new architecture.
The food was quite good and plentiful; the only issue I had is that the salmon was completely overcooked and I probably should have sent it back. The menu is a bit on the pricy side, but not out of proportion with the quality. We highly recommend the Shaking Beef, the Spicy Green Beans, and the Tamarind Prawns, which were all excellent.

The food was great (we had the snapper, tamarind prawns and Japanese eggplant). The service felt a little rushed. The chairs were uncomfortable (too hard). Overall a nice place for a special occasion, perhaps a little overpriced.

Great Contemporary Restaurant
I came here the other night and really enjoyed it. It was hard for me to find because construction hid the restaurant which is tucked away in a courtyard away from the street. That was my only issue of the night. The decor and layout of the restaurant is beautiful, with a lounge setting below around the bar and more private dining above. The menu had a plethora of appetizers, which made our selection hard because everything sounded so delicious. The entrees were portioned just right and tasted great. I loved their cocktails, great combinations of alcohol with subtle hints of herbs and spices making for a tastey beverage; but my date who prefers sweeter drinks did not like hers. Overall a great experience, I will definitely dine here again.

This is our family's favorite
This is our family's favorite place to meet to celebrate any occasion. This time six of us, plus an infant, ate there, family style. The food was very good. The catfish in a claypot was outstanding. Other dishes we especially liked included the garlic noodles, eggplant, green beans, sea bass, and tofu with peppers. The shaking beef we ordered a bit too well done.

My friend and I loved it!
I've been to Three Seasons several times. This time I took a friend who had never been. The delicious food (especially those garlic noodles and crab!) thrilled us both. This is one of my top three favorite restaurants in Palo Alto.

Always a pleasure
One of our favorite special occasion restaurants - always feels special! As a family of foodies - that is high praise!

pricey but reasonably worth it
Went here for my wife's b-day. Having read previous recommendations, we ordered a bunch of appetizers and the green papaya salad. As promised the rolls were excellent, the "traditional" being our favorite. Their version of green papaya salad is very mild compared most others that I am familiar with, but well balanced and savory. We stayed for dessert (the obligatory b-day dessert was included gratis) which was good but not outstanding. The service was excellent - we felt pampered by not smothered.
I would go here again when it was (a) a special occasion, but (b) I wanted something light and tasty. The quality of the food alone is not worth the price but, combined with the service, etc. it makes for a pleasant experience.

We had a good meal. The shrimp and papaya salad came without any shrimp so they corrected it promptly.
The spring rolls had a nice spicy peanut sauce that I really liked and used later with my salad.
The shaking beef is a favorite and that is why we came back. Really tender and a plentiful amount.
The curry chicken also had a really nice flavor.
I was disappointed that the rice was 2.50$ and served in a 1/2 cup bowl.
We live near by and will be back.

Three Seasons is great any time!
Just had a really enjoyable evening with a group of 10. Excellent food, friendly staff, refreshing cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. VERY reliable restaurant, we always have a great evening there.

I loved the old architect accept when sitting upstairs on the outer side I could see only the wall with the painting.I do not know
If the tables put sideways would give the broader view. But I and my family had a wonderful time.

Best Vietnamese Food I've Ever Had
I want to go back and try every single appetizer, that's how good it was

Love the atmosphere!
The redo of Three Seasons has created a chic and fascinating mix of Asian with a hip urban feel. It totally feels like a trip to the Big City, and the food is fabulous with fun and attentive servers.

Go for the food, not the service
We went on a Sunday night with reservations. The place was perhaps 1/2 - 2/3 full. The food has always been very good but considering the prices and ambiance, the service should be much better. After the first two dishes got brought out on top of each other, I asked that the rest of the meal be brought out much more slowly. She said 'No problem'. Apparently she took that to mean ' slowly refill water glasses and ask about ordering another glass of wine slowly, bring the food quickly.' We actually had to wave her down to order another glass of wine! The dishes are delicious and they are also presented beautifully, but the service is an important aspect of a restaurant like this and it was lacking.

Outdoor California $$$ Summer Lunch
At lunch, I had the duck roll appetizer (Wonderful, but could have more duck skin), and the grapefruit salad, the grapefruit salad was amazing...biting into the pieces of grapefruit was like biting into summer. The portions were generous... with a vietnamese ice coffee (the ice coffee was better than usual, not sure why)... However, the bill was $36 with tip. The staff was super nice and attentive, given that I was sitting outside, kind of in my own corner.

Three Seasons continues to shine.
we had yet another wonderful dinner. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. All staff were friendly and helpful. Our waiter was wonderful. The fact that its tucked into an alley makes it even more interesting.

Excellent, as always
Three Seasons is a consistent winner. I recommend a selection of small plates, and perhaps a single entree, all for sharing.

Fantastic Rolls and great drinks.
Love their rolls, every time we come here. We especially love their spider rolls and the garlic noodles. We came and the baked apple drink from the bar. I think its made with spiced bourbon, but it tasted like a baked apple pie, no kidding.!!!! I'm not a bourbon drinker, but I will be back for this drink.

Fun Saturday Night
Three Seasons is a classy spot to dine with friends or large groups - located in an alley way- you almost feel like you've been transported to Europe.
This restaurant offers outdoor seating or you have a choice of indoor seating-impressed with ambiance, lighting, the furniture contribute to the elegance of this place. Delicious plates, Teas, wine and mixed drinks.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
lovely intimate setting (outdoors)
We love Three Seasons for special occasions, or just for a comfortable setting (we prefer outside seating) with delicious food and fine wine, enthusiastic, but not over-bearing service... Great menu and easy ambiance that accommodates conversation and conviviality.

Went with a group of girlfriends to dinner here on a Friday night. Our table was ready and we were seated immediately. We then waited 20 minutes before a server appeared at our table (and only because we went to the bar to ask for someone). Once we ordered, the food and drinks came quickly, and were very tasty. The curry vegetables and the sesame scallops were amazing! The ginger creme brulee closed the night just right. We had more attentive service from the bus boy clearing our plates, than we did from our waiter, but overall it was a good night out.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
As we left at 8:30pm or so there was a couple having drinks outside under the heaters. Really nice place to dine outside if that is your thing. We really appreciated sitting upstairs and having our own space. We could still overlook the balcony inside and hear the chatter of other guests so we were not isolated but able to have private conversations. Our favorite shaking beef continues to delight us. Plenty of beef and just a sprinkling of veggies which is just what my 23 year old likes. The IPA beer went down quickly too.
My daughter had sea bass but could not finish it and they accidentally spilled it putting it away for take home so they made us a new batch to take home! I love nice surprises. Great service

The food and service was great.
The food and service was great. love their spicy green beans and seafood potstickers!
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
From cocktails to dessert, our evening at Three Seasons was terrific. Cocktails were delicious, made by a bartender who knows what a RobRoy & Vodka Gimlet should taste like. Fresh spring rolls were amazing. Grilled honey quail appetizer was delicious, even tho' the bones were hard to eat around. The seafood potstickers are packed with shrimp & scallops. Baked catfish was a generous portion, moist & delicious. The accompaniments (the sauces, the pickled this-and-that, the black rice & other garnishes) were great enhancements to each dish. We shared a Dessert Trio: ginger creme brulee, chocolate cake, and luscious mango sorbet. What a beautiful meal, and a good start to Birthday Week. We'll be back.

I enjoyed this restaurant a lot. I initially had a difficult time finding the restaurant as the entrance way is in a side alley. However, don't associate it with being in an alleyway with not being upscale. The restaurant is beautiful inside. We chose to sit outside for lunch since it was a beautiful day and the outdoors seating was spacious and accommodating. We ordered the shaking beef and the cold noodles. Both were delicious and the amount of food was plentiful. We had more than enough to eat and drink. The service was great, but I thought they were very slow to bring a check even though I asked twice and our plates had already been cleared. All in all, a great place for a business lunch.

Three Seasons Turned Noisy
Three Seasons had always been my favorite restaurant for special occasions and for bringing out of town (and out of country) guests. I brought some visitors from Europe to the restaurant for dinner on 10/24/13 evening. The food was great. Service was fine. What I did not understand was that the restaurant invited a band to play there. The atmosphere was completely destroyed and the noise level (very poor acoustics because of the high dome ceiling) was so high that we could not carry out the minimal of a conversation. We enjoyed the food and went somewhere else for dessert and coffee.
I think the management should seriously consider whether a band (no matter how good it is) is suitable for the atmosphere.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had great meal at Three Seasons. I've eaten there 3 or 4 times before and thought it was overpriced for food served more authentically at less pretentious restaurants. But this time 3 of 4 dishes were exceptionally good. Three of us sat at a long wooden table with comfy stools. Ordered crab cakes, vegetable spring roll, sesame scallops, japanese eggplant and yellow curry chicken. The curry was just okay but everything else had distinct flavors and was beautifully presented. Waiter was great. (Curry was our only item that we selected without consulting him.

Great for a large group
Read reviews about the restaurant and ordered the "favorites" such as Happy Buns, Garlic Noodles, Soft Crab egg rolls. All fabulous. The wine list was great.

Delicious food, great ambience
Love the shaking beef, lamb chops, garlic noodles and pear-infused sake! Although there's no kid's menu, my son enjoyed the garlic noodles, steamed buns with duck, and pineapple juice. The lemon chicken and chicken satay were a little less impressive but still yummy. The shared plates is perfect for different palates and groups. Our waiter was also very friendly, professional. Will definitely come back!

Finding this tucked away gem was half the fun. The food was delicious and the ambience warm and friendly. Definitely worth a revisit.
