Consistently excellent--cuisine, menu variety, and most of all, the staff--all are gracious, knowledgeable, and prompt. Il Riccio is my "go to" restaurant for pleasant low key dining.

Southern Italian gem
Fresh Italian food with fantastic wine in a cozy setting. We both had soft shell crabs and they were delicious. They even give you two choices as to how to prepare them which I never expected.
After finishing with dinner, we were given biscotti and dessert wine which was a nice gesture and also very unexpected. The service was very good!

Food is extremely good, service
Food is extremely good, service is relaxed and friendly though attentive. I would recommend without reservation, except for two issues. First, the a/c in the back room blows directly on diners seated at tables along the back wall. Second, the noise level in the front room can make it hard to hear your companions. Otherwise, a great choice.

Almost but not quite
At first we thought we had found a perfect place for lunch after a museum visit. The restaurant is pretty, intimate, and friendly. The food, however, was uneven. Dishes looked as if they were well conceived and they tasted OK, but they were mostly not quite what one was hoping for. A sardine appetizer was bland, a shrimp dish, though tasty, was served on just a huge pile of greens. An important sauce for both dishes we had was brought to the table when we were halfway through the dish, and seemed irrelevant. The very cleverly conceived grilled assorted seafood was quite flavorful but the shrimp and scallops and salmon were sadly overcooked. So this almost top-notch Italian, because of carelessness, was just a pleasant neighborhood place.

Il Riccio is a great find
Il Riccio is a great find for those of us who go to the Met Museum often. Everything about it was delightful and the food was delicious. This is a great reason for using Open Table--I had no idea this restaurant even existed although I had been to the restaurant right next door. Il Riccio will be our go-to restaurant when in the area.

Delightful gardenlike in Manhattan
Delightful indoor garden with space for a lovely round table for our family reunion. Near the Metropolitan Museum but not hectic. Lovely taste of Italy. Food is wonderful and fresh...and the fried Zucchini is terrific....Will return happily.

Quaint and good food but noisy
Quaint and good food but noisy when tables are all filled. Tendency to rush you out when they are busy.

Favorite upper East Side
Always enjoy this restaurant. Have never had a bad meal. When you sit down they bring a complimentary dish of fried zucchini to the table. They have a nice wine list. A special that night was mussels from New Zealand and they were delicious. There bread is also very delicious.

Wonderful, as always! We love
Wonderful, as always! We love dining at Il Riccio each time we come to NYC. Thanks for being consistently great. We loved the Dorado special and the veal was melt-in-your-mouth tender.

Il Riccio is a wonderful , reliable neighborhood spot. The food is terrific with many choices for many palates. The owners are always present and attentive and very accommodating . What il Riccio is not is a scene. It is just a wonderful , solid neighborhood restaurant. There should be more like it in New York. Their focus is on their regular customers not celebrities . There is also an active phone in and delivery service

lively neighborhood Italian
This narrow UES restaurant is lit from within--it feels warm and special, and it makes a night out a special occasion. It's a great spot to meet old friends over good pasta and good wine.

love this place
Going to become the place where we meet out of town friends. The food is sensational, the waiters are present without being annoying, owners very helpful, and wine list superb. A win all the way around. It is a place you can keep going back to and never get tired.
