The food at Enotria is extraordinary: Each course offered a variety of flavors and textures, all based around a central item like a ribeye steak or small trumpet mushrooms. While the the presentation was always intriguing and the flavors satisfying, there were a few times when this microgastronomy restaurant tipped over into precious, fussy touches. Absolutely worth the price.

I wanted to love Enotria
I guess I don't get the style of food they serve. There is one precious little gem of something - cheese, lamb, pate - surrounded by other little bits of accent foods. And then the plate is dotted with intensely flavored spots of flavor and/or sprinkled with dried bacon or shortbread crumbs or whatever. Are you supposed to mix and scoop the entire plate onto two bites or are you supposed to enjoy the spots and dabs apart from the center of the dish? Everything we ate was good. But a lot of the meal struck me as showy but lacking in passion. That said, there were some real stand-outs: the agnoletti, the sturgeon and a chocolate truffle. Maybe our impressions were influenced by decor we found cold, unromantic and without charm.

Sacramento's best restaurant,
Sacramento's best restaurant, and perhaps one of the best in Northern California. I have eaten at Michelin starred restaurants, and Enotria is right with them or even ahead of them. The wine pairings with the tasting menu were spot-on. The food was perfectly executed, intriguing, and appropriately spaced between courses. I highly recommend Enotria to anyone looking for the perfect meal in Sacramento.

Wonderful creations of food-as-art.
Wonderful creations of food-as-art. Some may be put off by Enotria's location or the truly small portions (even for fine dining), but the detail in the preparation, the combinations of flavors, and the sauces are remarkable. I had the chef's tasting menu with delicious sturgeon, the best preparation of pork belly I have had, and a great lamb preparation. Others in the group enjoyed the pate and suzuki. Counting the cheese course and mignardises, we essentially also got four fabulous dessert courses. We enjoy The Firehouse and Hawks, but this is truly special food, not just for Sacramento.

Is That a (Michelin) Star I See?
A little daunted by the prix fixe price levels, we opted to eat in the Wine Bar, whose decor was rather generic. I was wondering how many patrons were attracted by the glowing article in the Bee recently about the many-faceted manager. Our server was helpful and knowledgeable, the food more adventurous than we're used to, but hurray for that. I was a little timid, opting for the risotto, which was probably the best I've had, with a big cheesy layer on top that made it like a mac & cheese risotto. My partner had the scallops, which he pronounced delicious and we shared the rhubarb dessert, which I found interesting but not nearly sweet or fatty enough for my (gourmande) taste, but my more ascetic guy thought delicious.

Went there with my wife with very limited knowledge of the restaurant. Had the four course chefs tasting and everything was exquisite. Can't wait to go back. By far the best meal I've had in sacramento.

Service was very good and food outstanding. We sampled a number of dishes from the a-la-carte menu in the wine bar; all were delicious and the presentations very creative. Only complaint, portions were incredibly small. Perhaps the portions served in the main dining room on each of the 3 tasting menus are more plentiful. In fairness, as our party of 4 shared everything, this may have contributed to our perception of portion size. Although the area of Sacramento in which the restaurant is located is in the midst of redevelopment, a change in location might be in order, especially given the cost of this dining experience. A venue change would well serve the lofty ambitions of Enotria's ownership.

I could have eaten platters of the oysters. Every bite was perfection. We ordered a variety of dishes t share, and every mouthful was fresh an vibrant and inventive. Portions were small, but so packed with flavor that we didn't mnd. This was a memorable meal.

A Culinary Masterpiece
The food was amazing. We were concerned about what we thought were small plates, however, it turned out to be perfect. Small plates of absolutely delectable items leaving you wanting to lick the plate. The service was spot on and they kept things moving, never really leaving the table empty of something wonderful to eat. The little baked breads were each different and each amazing. The bacon bread was to die for...and the butter with the volcanic salt, wonderful. Throughout the meal it was clear that the Chef and his staff thoroughly understand seasoning, it was perfect. My wife and I decided that it was the best meal we had ever had...that sounds dramatic, it is not. We eat our regularly and often...Enotria is special.

Michelin Needs to Take Notice
A great gem of a place in an up and coming area of Sacramento. Don't let the neighborhood fool you. Enotria's ambiance, staff and chef's provide outstanding food and service that almost feels personalized. Their sommelier staff (thanks Kara) was informative, polite and engaging. From the attentive staff to the outstanding meal and wine pairings Enotria furnishes the foodie in you a memorable dining experience.

We had an amazing dinner at Enotria. The food was outstanding, the service was great!
Our server was attentive, knowledgable and spent some time chit chatting with us.
One of the chefs brough our dessert out to us himself.
I would absolutely go back! Thank you Enotria.

This is a very special dining experience. We did the tasting menu. This probably was a pricier option so my commments may not apply to other seating. The total bill for the meal with wine pairing and tip was $400. I would have had no reservations for it being $300 but I do feels that is too high.
I cannot praise the wine list and the pairings enough. Unique, perfectly paired and superb.. It would be worth just having appetizers and tasting the wine. It is beyond wonderful,
The food is also great. It is presented artistically and the service is flawless.
So if cost is not a concern by al means go.

Wonderful food, atmosphere, and excellent service. Very creative and beautiful dishes!

If you want to experience great food at a nice pace this is tha place. Each portion is presented separately on its own plate with the appropriate cutlery. This helped us experience the food instead of just wolfing it down. We were hungry when we came and initially were concerned we wouldn't be filled but at the end we were very satisfied and even over filled. We both ageed that the veggies were the best and we are confirmed meat eaters. The protien portions were excellent it we never had such veggies.

Enotria is the best restaurant
Enotria is the best restaurant in Sacramento, and it gives the best Bay Area and Napa serious competition. The artfully presented, perfectly prepared dishes on the tasting menu are simply superb. If you order ala carte, portions are larger and again superb. Our dinner was flawless, everything perfectly prepared and so delicious, it was mind-blowing. The service was impeccable, attentive and personal without being intrusive. The sommelier is one of the most knowledgeable I have encountered and the recommended wines were both delicious and perfectly paired with the dishes. This really is an amazing experience and well worth the expense.

If there is a heaven, the food there would be of Enotria's caliber. I celebrated my 60th birthday at Enotria and ordered the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Every dish was amazingly beautiful and so delicious. This is without a doubt the best dining experience to be had in Sacramento currently. The ambience was quiet and the lighting was perfect. The service was the best it could be (thank you Jen!) and the sommelier gave a succinct description of each wine with a little history of each vintner. The food...the food....so good it is hard to come up with the adjectives to describe it. The food was beyond excellent--every dish was the perfect blend of flavors, texture, and colors. I will be back to dine here again!

Enjoyed our experience at
Enjoyed our experience at the Enotria Restaurant very much. The last time I was there, was before the major remodel and I am pleasantly suprised with the new room layout and decor. The staff is fast, courteous, energetic and very efficient, with never pushing you to complete a course, just letting you enjoy.
We had the five course (with very different choices) with wine parings, and both agreed that the wine parings were not as good as expected. The main courses of: Suzuki and Scallops were very good and of course, the sweet section was excellent.
We will return and hopefully enjoy the atmosphere, food and drink the next time around.

Enotria provides a special occasion
We enjoyed our dining experience at Enotria. The patio was nice, the service was outstanding, the live music a lovely plus and the wine and food was delicious. The wine pairing was very delightful with enthusiastic presentations by the sommelier. Although it is not unexpected for a fine restaurant, the tiny portions were disappointing. It felt like the taste buds were being teased rather than fully engaged. I would recommend this for a special occasion but the price for the tiny portions will make it just a once in a life-time experience for us.

called last minute and yet the restaurant was still able to personalize the menu - we were celebrating my daughter´s birthday, enjoyed every molecule

Best in Sacramento
This place is truly special, and must be experienced to really understand. Chef Pajo and his team cook with passion and a purpose. We've been to Enotria a few times for special occasions, and they get better each time. They use the freshest local ingredients to work their magic, and use a combination of traditional flavor profiles and modernist techniques to bring out the best in each dish. This place is not to be missed and, while not cheap, is a true bargain when compared to those few restaurants of similar quality in SF and NY.

Tiny portions. Hefty prices.
The food was marvelous - deep, varied and complex flavors! It compares favorably to other notable restaurants in SF, LA, NYC or the Napa Valley. However, the "value to price" equation is skewed. As a confirmed foodie, I value quality over quantity and don't begrudge paying for a wonderful meal, however, the portions at Enotria are uncommonly stingy: two scallops for $37 is unreasonable. if my husband had joined me for dinner on this occasion, he would have been apoplectic about the cost, and still hungry!

My wife and I chose Enotria for our recent wedding anniversary. We were impressed again! The mood was romantic and special. The entire staff worked as a team to make us feel comfortable and pampered. We had an amazing experience in Enotria’s remodeled dining room by enjoying their “taste” menu. Our many thanks to Enotria for making our anniversary celebration a memorable one.
P.S. We got to take home a signed commemorative menu that said Happy Anniversary!

Great Food, Bad Location
Why have an upscale restaurant in the heart of Del Paso Heights?
The food was good, but not amazing. The smears were decorative, but didn't have much flavor and didn't add to our dining experience. The wait staff was very attentive, but then we were one of only 3 table occupied. This was peak dining time on a Thursday night.
The restaurant was responsive to my request for a quiet table (we were celebrating our 5th anniversary,) and they brought a complimentary dessert with Happy Anniversary wishes on it.
I hope they find a way to drum up business. I also hope they put a little more effort into the taste of each dish, rather than just the appearance.

A fantastic setting and execution
Friendly staff open to any question and pricing that matches the level of food that we expected and received. A long, varied wine list was right in line with what I wished to present my girlfriend and it let her choose what she truly liked, not just what she could live with.

Trying too hard
First time in several years. Staff trying too hard to be the gourmet fancy upscale restaurant. Hits: Unusual selection of foods, very attentive and knowledgeable staff . Misses: too limited menu if you don't have time for the multi-courses, very small servings for a very high price.

Sacramento's new best
For a long time, I would have identified The KItchen as the best in Sacramento. That said, after two trips, Enotria is the new high water mark. Superb food, presentation, and ambience - I can't think of any negatives!
I recommend the 5 or 7 course tasting menu - best way of savoring all the tastes...

The Best in Sacramento
If you think you have to drive to Napa or San Francisco for a superior fine dining experience, you need to get into Enotria. Enotria has become our favorite restaurant in Northern California, and our go-to restaurant for celebrations. Executive Chef Pajo Bruich is creating cuisine that you will not find anywhere else. The wine list is both comprehensive and approachable. The Sommelier's depth and breadth of knowledge is astonishing. I highly recommend the five- and seven-course tasting menus with the wine pairings. The dishes are created to complement the wines, and the pairings are simply perfect. By the way, if you let the restaurant know in advance that you are celebrating a special event, they will make it truly special for you.

Great for special occasion
The 5 course meal was delicious and unique. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth it for special occasion. The service was great & the food came in timely manner.

I hadn't been to Enotria for a couple years and was surprised by the elegant food I had during this visit. Delightful cocktails were followed by creative dishes - the scallop and mussels appetizer followed by the gnocchi with black truffles - were truly exceptional. However $75 for the 4 course meal was also unexpectedly high and created some tension in our group. Notable and special food but a bit too rich for my blood. (PS the restaurant will explain it's $75 for a 5 course meal but the 5th course is a palate cleanser of sorbet - really, a teaspoon of sorbet counts as a course?)
10/22/2013 5:00:00 PM
Excellent dining experience!
My husband and I both really enjoyed our date at Enotria. We both had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. Each dish was lovely to look at and had excellent flavor, and the wine pairings were very nice. The service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend Enotria if you are looking for a special evening out and want to really enjoy some fine dining. It's a Sacramento gem.

This was our second visit
This was our second visit since the new chef arrived at Enotoria. We thoroughly enjoyed the dishes, in particular, the quality and presentation! Their service was excellent too. The only complaint I have is the following: they used too much salt in the dishes. Yes, they boost the "Umami" in their dishes, but reducing salty taste a bit more would raise my food rating to the Excellent category.

Best fine dining in Sacramento
My wife and I have admittedly been a bit snobbish about the fine dining scene since moving to Sac from DC, as we often went to some of the highest regarded restaurants in NYC, DC, and Philly. Enotria, without a doubt, is up there with the best from the East Coast. The tongue first course and the scallop main course were two of the best dishes I've had in years. The wine list was great and the sommelier was very good considering his youth - I recommend the wine pairing option. We will be back.
